Morning everyone! Feel like I've been away for ages but it's been a busy week.

BoB, we're looking at highchairs too. Toby's was a big Chicco one but it's too awkward for our little eating area now. I love the Trip Trap ones and it's nice that they last so long. How's the black eye?

Londoner, how are the LOs? Hope everyone is feeling better. Next Friday (31st) DH is taking off work to go to the Natural History Museum with Toby's class so Rosie and I are going to the movies!! So excited. Will you be going next week?

As for sterilising, we've been doing it recently because of Rosie's poorly tummy but would just run it through the dishwasher before. None of my friends in the US sterilise, just use the dishwasher so I wasn't too worried about it.

I love Baby Gap too and Gap for me. I do remember a time when Gap was definitely not the cool thing. They sold generic cheap jeans which my Mom would make us wear because they were the only ones long enough for me. Sooo embarrassing when all my friends were in Jordache or Gloria Vanberbilt. Blush

As for favourite cities, I love Venice. We've only been once but it was so wonderful and such a unique place. I'd love to spend more time there.

ChaCha, I just bought one of those teethers you can put in the fridge for Rosie. I've also got some Teetha, Calgel for her gums and Calpol on standby when it gets really painful. So far no teeth, but lots of drooling, gumming everything that comes near her mouth and bright pink cheeks.

Sarah, how awful!! Do try to keep writing. We're all here to listen and help when we can.

Gosh, just rushed through the thread but still don't feel all caught up. Will make a cup of tea and have a more leisurely read.

So excited about the big meet-up! Just going to check the Yahoo group for more details. We need an MN flag or something so we can find each other. Maybe flowers in the lapel or red hats or something. Smile

Diege · 24/03/2006 12:07

Hi! Good to hear from you TEX Smile; sounds like you have things prepared for teething! We're also at the slurpy red cheeks stage, but no tooth as yet. LOVE Venice too - went there with DH when we'd being going out a few months; so romantic, then next month pregnant with dd1 Blush. Would love to go back sometime Smile.
Yes, was thinking same thing about recognising people at meet-up! I will memorise everyone's picture from yahoo site so can hopefully spot you all! I say we all have patch of sick on left shoulder for easy recognition Grin
BEAR: Re: the chapter, yes to both questions really; not that it's all rubbish, but I suppose the way these tests are presented, and the whole issue of 'perfect' babies; I've really just let the women I've interviewed speak for themselves, so it's their voices coming, and not my big gob hopefully! Agree with what you say about medicalisation of pregnancy too, though like you had ventouse with dd1, and often think what would have happened to us 100 yeats ago! Sad.
DD2 engrossed in Barney (ewww!!!), DD3 asleep, so luch time Smile!

tessasmum · 24/03/2006 12:21

Afternoon all!

Ash asleep, Tessa in front of Lion King and I've had a bath - major achievement Grin

We are on the highchair hunt too. Tessa's was about 7th hand and disintegrated as she moved onto her Handisit. I'm hoping there will be a neat fold-up one at the NCT sale tomorrow but if not have seen a cheapy one in Toys'r'us. Just need to check what weight it will go up to (having a chunky little boy!) and debate whether buying cheap is really a saving! Love the funky wooden ones but really don't have the space.

As for the meet-up - we could all carry a creme egg (or a packet of Quorn sausages) Grin Actually think it won't be too difficult, various people have already met or are coming together so just look out for a group of Mums and babies of a certain age!

Sarah - so sorry that you are having such a bad time. As others have said, we are good listeners and talking things through with people who aren't family/friends can really help but we'll also understand if its all too much. Take care of yourself and your lovely little girls and I hope it works out for you.

ChaCha - re ironing. I hate doing it but love the feel/smell of freshly ironed stuff. Tend to do it in the living room with a story tape on for Tessa and Ash lying on the floor kicking. That way we can all still chat (as a tape isn't quite as absorbing as a video) and it doesn't feel too much like a chore. Also try and do it regularly - I have a basket for it and if it starts to overflow then its time to do it. That sounds almost organised doesn't it? Smile

Took Ash out last night to a pre-school committee meeting and he was a little star. Sat and beamed (and dribbled!) at everyone for 1/2 an hour then had a feed and went to sleep at normal time (8.45pm) I LOVE lie-flat car-seats!! Though I agree Diege that the Jane basket is worse than useless, I can get more stuff in the back of Tessa's trike-on-a-stick.

BoB - you MUST have had your 3 things going wrong in a row by now. You deserve a perfect few months after that lot!
BTW - trousers that were too long for 33" legs, that is good going. I seem to live in NEXT xl as they are just right but getting maternity trousers when pg with Tessa was a nightmare, interesting what a difference 3 years can make.

Better go and be a good mummy and remind Tessa that the video isn't her only companion Smile Actually don't feel too bad as we are making an Easter bonnet this afternoon for her pre-school Easter parade next week. Lots of glue and paint methinks!

tessasmum · 24/03/2006 12:24

Diege - crossed posts there. Yep, sick should do it Grin

Diege · 24/03/2006 12:30

Grin. I will look for tall ladies! I live in Next extra-short Blush!

BEKsmum · 24/03/2006 16:40

Afternoon all

Ha ha ha - have just put Thomas in his door bouncer and he absolutely loves it, he chuckled his head off and chucked a wobbly when I took him out. Ben thinks it's hilarious too - will have to keep an eye on him though as I can see Thomas being used as a catapult Grin

Looks like the meet up is going to be a success, glad so many of us are going, we've just got to bully the non attenders into it now! Grin

I was looking at the Nov '06 thread and someone on there has just found out she's 5 weeks pregnant and her baby girl is only 11 weeks old - yikes

Those with boys - where are you getting nice (cheap) boys clothes from? Somehow I seem to have managed to get rid of all of Ben's old 6-9mth clothes and now I can't find any nice things for Tom Sad

Right off to amuse the munchkins, hope everyone is well and that the poorly ones are feeling better - we're getting there in this house slowly!!!!

Hope you all have a great Mother's Day, Ben has just brought me home a card from pre-school which is lovely! Beks

browniechick · 24/03/2006 22:06

Hello All, hope you are all well.

ChaCha - sympathise re ironing - my basket is now over-flowing - haven't gone near it for nearly 3 weeks! (DH does his own, so he is fine - it's just lazy Mummy that can't be ar5ed!) Blush

I am not coming to the meet-up either, sorry. And too am Envy of those that are. Am not really good in big cities - feel like a fish out of preverbial water! And don't think that I would want to risk bringing bubs with me when I am so unsteady in the big smoke when just on my own - hopefully htere will be other times or meet-ups - I am just bummed that no-one lives nearer me Sad

Meet with my PN Mums today, it's nice to get out and meet them and have some adult conversation, although as one pointed out, we still talk mostly about babies! Grin

Am hoping to get some christening photos on yahoo over the weekend, will keep you posted.

A friend popped round this evening to arrange a day to come round and do some photos of us with Thomas - can't wait. He isn't a professional photographer, but he is good - he did our wedding photos, and you wouldn't know they weren't done by a professional!

Has anyone else had a professional session?

Must dash, fancy a drink and then am off to bed to read my Sharon Osbourne Autobiography!

Brownie & Thomas

beartime · 24/03/2006 22:24

But Diege you haven't posted a pic of you get have you? You MUST or I won't be able to talk to you in RL cos I'll be too gobsmacked at how different you look from how I imagined Grin I'm sure I'll have the patch of sick on the left shoulder - usually do Grin

I've got to be a bridesmaid on 6th May and will have to feed Caleb once in the middle of the service and once in the middle of the meal. And the type of dress it is I can't wear a nursing bra so am going to have to go and strip off in the toilet!! Imagine the patch of sick on a beautiful blue silk dress... Have thought abt trying to get him to take a bottle but I don't think its worth it - I haven't ever given him one yet so it'd probably be a hassle trying to get him to take it wouldn't it?

Can you give me some hints on what to look for ina highchair everyone? I haven't the faintest! Other than I don't want to spend too much money on it!

Tessasmum - LOL at the Quorn sausages Grin

Beks - I've hardly had to buy anything, but what I have bought I got at Tesco - they had a sweet coat, and I got some long-sleeved t-shirts there.

Brownie - doesn't Busy live near you - somerset?

Diege · 24/03/2006 23:02

Hi Smile!! Phew, have been trying to work out mumsnet selling etiquette on classifieds. Someone wants to buy my maternity clothes (great!),but have any of you had experience of selling on mumsnet? Who sends first? Do I wait for her cheque, then send, or other way round? You can tell I am a sitting duck for any conwomen out there Blush!
BEAR: I would post picture, but we don't have digital camera, so don't have technology to post one as yet! Hmm, curious to hear how you imagine me to look Grin, funny how people do look totally different from how we imagine them - the only exception being ENTHUSIA who was just as I imagined, personality and looks Smile!
Hope Easter bonnet-making went well TESSASMUM; you are good..I stuck to videos today I'm afraid, as shattered from last night's 5am tantrum ('I wanna toy from downstairs'...err, right, like I'm going to give in to that one!)Grin).
Hoping for a better night tonight Smile. 2 kid's playbarn parties over weekend Shock.
Hoping everyone has a REALLY GREAT MOTHER'S DAY!!!! We deserve it!!!!!!
Diege Smile

Diege · 24/03/2006 23:05

Oh BEAR, on highchairs, we went for big M&Ps padded thing first time round - bit of a food-magnet though, and harder to clean than you think when it falls down sides Grin.LOve the look of the wooden ones (Trip Trap and the like), though need soemthign a bit cheaper myself. Have a bumbo seat for now which is great for cafes and travel etc. Some baragins on KIDSCAPE website? (will check address for you, think I'll get one from there, great service too) Smile

Rodeo · 25/03/2006 00:54

Evening :)

Just come in to dp on the net so I've nabbed it of him as I've not had my MN fix yet Grin

Been at work, it's not been too busy, but my feet hurt and J has slept through me being out which is good. She's started to become really narky with dp and cries until I'm back from where-ever I've been which is a right pain!

So meet up - Me, Diege, Nova, Beks, Karma, Bear, Londoner, GO, Jenjam, Tessa, Bob, Tex, Lil?, Candi? Plus 7 baby girls and 8 baby boys :) It'll be brill!

Diege - You are kind - we should share the tops! You get first pick!

Bear - Why can't you feed Caleb before/after service and dinner? He'll be 5 months by then - surely Gina isn't that strict?!! How about wearing a strapless to feed in? They're really easy to pop down to feed in :)

BTW Diege is totally different to how I imagined. The way she went on about weight watchers I imagined someone rather 'heftier'Grin, but she's really lovely, pretty and petite :)

Right I'm off to bed with 'Being Jordan' - and yes, it is truely awful x x x

goldenoldie · 25/03/2006 08:13

beks - M&S are reasonable, and hennies (H&M) always offer good value for kids clothes.

Chacha - sorry - cleaner does all the ironing!

re: highchairs - we always used the seats that screw onto dining table - easy to clean (seat made of washable fabric) and compact and portable. Will def use again with the DTs once they can sit up.

goldenoldie · 25/03/2006 08:39

Just like this www.theportablebaby.com/metoochair.html

Diege · 25/03/2006 10:02

Aww RODEO you are too kind Smile. And you are KEEPING BOTH THE TOPS!!!!!! I insist! GrinGosh there are going to be lots of babies at meet; hope Libby won't be the only one wailing! Am really excited now Grin. BTW, did you get your hair done! Bet it looks gorgeous Smile. You must tell me how the Jordan book is; I really enjoyed the first one (good in a horrible, compulsive sort of way, just as Jodie Marsh's was Blush)
GOLDEN: like the sound of the screw on high chairs; do they leave marks on the table though? (not that it would make much difference the state ours is in!).
Have sorted out my mumsnet selling diemma, with buyer putting me straight about how to do things Smile.
Had a read through due in NOV 06 last night; big gulp for women pregnant with 11 wk old!.
DDs 1 and 3 off to party with DH, dd2 here with me, too poorly Sad. Speak later,
Diege Smile

Rodeo · 25/03/2006 11:00

Morning :)

Aw, she's still poorly Diege? J has now started with another cold - I must spend a small fortune on Calpol!

Did get hair done, had high & lo-lights put in and had it cut - I am v. pleased with it but no-one else seems to have noticed! And the hairdresser was lovely which was a relief. She actually told me my hair was in great condition! I had just slapped on some heavy duty conditioner that morning though but didn't let on!

Children are off to a Mothers Day activity afternoon at the church today, and I'm off to town to pick up something for my mum. Me and my sis are taking her out for a meal tonight too - really a treat for us too! We're so selfish!

Beks - Agree with GO - I love H&M for kids clothes

Right better get dressed - I've not even opened the curtains yet Blush

Karmamaman · 25/03/2006 16:13

Hiya.

DP at work so I get to do my MN. Feel a bit crappy today. The saga of the snoring continues.Angry Last night I slept from 11 till 01:51am whereupon DD wakes for her night feed a litle early. By 02:23am said feed completed, DD winded & produced an admirable burp. Marvellous. Tucked back in to go to sleep & DP kicked off with the snoring. Not only does he wake me & DD but he even wakes himself. Sorry, this is the long version Blush. By 04:00 I've had enough. Go downstairs & read Annabel Karmel weaning book, watch some stuff on Sky+ & then all of a sudden its morning, the birds are tweating & DP gets up. Guess what he said??? "If you don't mind me saying, your hair looks an absolute mess!" So, you can all imagine what the atmosphere has been like here all day. And to cap it off, I nearly lost 2 of the bloody guinea pigs whilst rounding them up to go back into their hutch. Little buggers.
DD awake so shall post again later with a not so self-absorbed post.

Karmamaman · 25/03/2006 16:24

Oh, & I've got a stinking cold so I keep dribbling snot everywhere. BTW, the name change is from yesterday when I posted on a thread by Cod. Will change it back now as I feel a little silly.

Karmamother · 25/03/2006 16:27

Thats better. Ooh, just found out that one of my neighbours is PG & due in Nov. No she's not the one with the 11 wk baby. Blimey, she obviously couldn't think of a decent excuse when her OH wanted to BD!!

Karmamother · 25/03/2006 16:37

My posts are like buses, you wait for ages then 3 come at once.Grin Anyone else finding it impossible to get nappy cream where it's meant to go? We're at the twisting stage which makes it a lot of fun at nappy time. Not.

Beksmum, I'm seriously thinking of driving down. After much deliberating I think 3hrs on a train with Ella doing lots of crying/screeching will be like purgatory. If it was just an hour it'd be ok. Will need directions & address please. Smile

Rodeo, thats quite an impressive list for the meet. Is anyone taking older sibs along? I'm thinking about bringing DS.(if beksmum has space)

ChaCha · 25/03/2006 18:19

Spent ages typing a msg to lose the window!!

Tessasmum - LOL @ Quorn sausages!

Karma - You have my sympathy vote. DH snores but only when lying on his back. Have to prod him several times so that he'll stop or resort to 'gently' pushing him onto his side! Blush
Not funny when the LO is prone to waking on the noise. LOL @ buses.

Beks - I won my bid on a bouncer and looking fwd to it's arrival. I'm sure DS will just love it too. LOL @ catapult. My mum sent me a card, she glued a pic of the LO inside and wrote some v.encouraging words. Was a nice gesture.

It's one of those times where the pressure is on. All the bills seem to mount up at the same time, and all of a sudden car needs fixing, this needs doing, that needs doing. I really need to work, being at home is a luxury TBH. :(

Ice age is on - I LOVE it. Got the constant gardener but fell asleep half way through, will watch again tonight, anyone else see it?

Hope everyone else is well and happy x

tessasmum · 25/03/2006 20:11

Karma - seem to get more nappy cream on Ash's feet than anywhere useful Grin

Diege · 25/03/2006 20:32

Hi everyone! Smile. Oh KARMA, nightmare snoring situtation..some serious creeping needed by DH for Mother's Day I think! Seriously though, I know how distressing this can be (from my parents); is he having any treatment (I know there's an electric shock thing you attach to nostrils, seriously..now how tempting would that be!
Congrats on the bouncer CHACHA...wait till Zayn starts on it, they look so funny Grin. We have tried it with Libby, but she is too small, just hangs there chewing the harness, hanging her head and looking forlorn.
Well, DH back from shops with my rich teas, and he's hoping for something extra I think (hmmmm, not sure about that Blush Grin. See if I can stall him and come back on here instead Grin.
Speak later!
Diege Smile

ChaCha · 25/03/2006 22:21

Just read this on the news section.

If u have a tassa or sniglar cot brought from ikea after aug 2005,with nade in poland and the number 15333,pls return the bed base to the store for recall.....

More info on www.ikea.co.uk

I think a new thread is called for. Getting kinda long...

beartime · 25/03/2006 22:21

Diege - re: your mumsnet etiquette - I've seen people who've been had both ways round on diff. threads! Your name makes me think of someone plain with glasses (sorry Smile), and obviously you're short and slim... so according to Rodeo I'll be pleasantly surprised Grin Somebody better bring their camera then so we can post a pic of Diege!

Rodeo - you don't look a bit like your name! And actually I am wearing a strapless - but will still have to go to the loo as its a dress Sad - imagine me stripping down in the reception? I coudl feed him b4 or after I guess... Diege - what do you think? Grin the service starts at 2pm and the meal at 6pm, and I'm now on 2.30 and 6.30 feeds. Only prob is that Caleb can't come with me in the car (wouldn't like quite right would it, bride gets out of car, follwed by bridesmaid with... a car seat!) so we might not be together for the half hour/hour b4 hand...

Karma - have you name changed to Kama too or is that someone else? Cod is funny. I can't wait to see you in RL as I want to see what that dry sense of humour looks like! Have same problem with the nappy cream Grin
