OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Londoner · 22/03/2006 18:54

Yes can understand you not wanting to call police esp if you may want to sell the property soon... I think you mentioned this?

babyonboard · 22/03/2006 18:58

yep..it's not suitable for a tot..two flights of stairs..no garden etc..
so don't want to cause any trouble ( though don't know how much he could influence us selling the place!?)

i just feel so infringed upon.
i mean really..for all he knows i could have just undressed to take a shower when he barged in on us

Londoner · 22/03/2006 19:00

BoB, this was not you fault! Whether or not you left your door slightly open, no no this was wrong of him. Is easy to start doubting yourself when upset/made to feel vulnerable. He is deffo wrong to behave like that.

Londoner · 22/03/2006 19:03

Ah, what I meant by that was, when you sell a property you have to tell the vendor if there are any disputes/complaints in progress regarding your property, as far as I know....

babyonboard · 22/03/2006 19:08

thnks londoner..I needed some reaction to this as i'm sitting here stewing and fuming..
we are forced to pay this guy £2000 plus in mintenance charges nnually for which we see nothing (i. we paid for roof repairs..we do the cleaning of communal spaces)..and h hs even once tried to get a valution on our flat behind our backs ( god knows how he thought w'd let the agent in) lol

i'll tlk to d.p when he gts back and see what he thinks

it sounds silly but it almost fels like we've been burgled or something..i just hate his audacity

novadandypowder · 22/03/2006 19:20

BoB thats outrageous, am Angry for you.

DH loves the Futureheads!

I still can't imagine what they were thinking when they launched chocolate lemon! No wonder it didn't catch on...

Got some bargains in Boots today, some tops for Nat for about £2.50/£3 each Grin, as well as triple points on the mini mode stuff.

babyonboard · 22/03/2006 19:44

nova..we got boots bargins recently too..some triple packs of summer p.js reduced to £4 and dinosaur glovs and hat for next winter for £1..woohoo

still feeling annoyed..
it's only recently the place has truly become 'ours' ..dps parents paid for half of the flat with funds from flats their parents bought for them and then we have paid the mortgag since..only with dp's mums temperament and their divorce, and them using it aginst us in vrious situtions we decided to 'buy them out' so I used some of my trust fund, and d.p used some of his inheritance to make it fully and legally ours..

this jerk has really upset me..reminds me of when we first moved in and d.p's mum used to turn up and let herself in when we were away and stay with friends
total infringement

defintily time for more cake...
i'll be weighing myself in boots tomorrow an will then join the slimming thraed..eek

goldenoldie · 22/03/2006 20:21

Diege - yes, I had to revise my application 3 times. They felt my 'business case' was too weak!

BOB - how did landlord get in? Does he have keys? Def get your DH to have a word with him - well out of order.

Karmamother · 22/03/2006 21:37

Evening all.

BoB, hope you've recovered from your shock. What a cheek!

Lomdoner, thanks for your kind words about the cot idea. It's amazing how a seemingly trivial thing can cause worry.

Beksmum, interesting discussion about chocolate nostalgia. Does anyone remember Toffee Crisps made with dark chocolate? Fabulous!

Hope everyone else well. Bit cheeky as I haven't read much of the thread.Blush

Had a lovely day. I love Wednesdays as I meet up with my PN group. Today we went to a rather nice pub with an upstairs room with big squashy sofas. The other people in the pub all looked a bit shocked when 6 mums & babies walked in together. We weren't that rowdy, even when the wine flowed!!
Busy watching The Apprentice. Anyone else hooked on it?

beartime · 22/03/2006 22:09

Hey is there anyone who could meet me on the way into London? I hate going there and esp. on my own, and even more with a baby! I would be going by train to either London Bridge, Charing Cross or London Victoria from Ashford... Also what's the best way to bring a baby - sling, or pushchair?

ChaCha · 22/03/2006 22:18

Back again,

As Z is one of the youngest of our babies here I miss out on what you've already discussed, so as mentioned before, sorry if i become repetitive. What did/are you all doing about teething? Would you mind sharing pls?

Now know why i've been so grumpy today and irritable with everyone including LO, I've just discovered the return of AF Shock was not expecting it at all! Oh well!

Thanks for all the Quorn ideas, found some Quorn chicken slices in Asda last night as well as peppered steaks and some cheesy something or others...look lovely! Had the chicken slices last night and they were yummy! Have you tried them yet?

BoB - It never rains but it pours eh? Hope you're all well this evening :)

I know that there will be no weight loss this week, i binge when I have AF - there's my excuse Blush

As for favourite cities, haven't been anywhere new in ages, but I always had a liking for Dubai and Cairo of course.

The huggababy sling is not working for me. Just can't get used to it. Need something practical and simple. The wilkinet looks difficult, any ideas? Will need to sell this huggababy i think.

Karma - Glad you had a great day :)

Off to get hot water bottle and tucked in bed x

Londoner · 22/03/2006 22:25

Hi Karma & Beartime,

Glad you had a lovely time today Karma, sounds wonderful. Yep, we haven't looked back with the cot thing, only thing is the little monkey keeps wriggling up the bed and then getting cold and waking up..... lol!

Beartime, I'll be happy to meet you at London Bridge, it's on my way too... you'll be safe with meWink. Why not bring both sling & pushchair, that's what I do in such situations..... then if one gets too difficult you can just swap overGrin..?

Well, off to see if I can get more than a few snatched hours, last night was a mere nap unfortunately, interspersed with nursing poorly pups, which is why I've spent a ridiculous amount of time on here today..... a little bit of escapism goes a long way some days I findGrin.
NightSmile.

novadandypowder · 22/03/2006 22:27

Chacha - can't be of much help on the teething front as nothing happening with Nat yet. Boots had a 3 for 2 on herbal remedies and vitamins so I got some Nelsons teething powders to put in the medicine box for when they do come through.

My AF is so different since having Nat, much heavier and much much more painful. And according to DH I get VERY narky.

I had a quorn and halloumi cheese salad for dinner - yum.

Re: sling - for simplicity I don't think you can beat the baby bjorn, but it can pull on the shoulders a bit. I think i'll get more use out of my wilkinet in the summer when I can wear Nat on my back, it's a bit of a faff TBH when you're out and about.

Londoner · 22/03/2006 22:27

Hi ChaCha, crossed posts there, and I meant hi to everyone else too of courseBlush.

Diege · 22/03/2006 22:31

Hey KARMA don't tell me who got kicked out of Apprentice this week, as I have it taped! Addicted too GrinCan't recall dark chocolate toffee crisps (sadly).Have to add that I think the choccy lemon would really take off if they had made it with white chocolate! Smile
BOB cannot believe what you have been through; what a bloody cheek!!!! Did he actually take on board what he'd done? It's the sort of thing that I would fume about for weeks Angry. You're certainly having a week of it Sad.
GOLDEN: yes, think the 'business case' (what they get out of it ?] is what they will find lacking with mine too. My application by e-mail has been opened, but no acknowledgement or anything. Shouldn't read too much into it I know, but was hoping for maybe a friendly, 'thanks, we'll be in touch'; think I'm just really anxious about it all, and should forget it now as I've done the hardest part (I hope!).
Had a tiring afternoon, with dd1 spilling large glass of milkshake down her and surroundings in cafe, dd 2 falling flat on her face 3 times in street, with 45 mins of solid wailing all way home (then Libs joins in too!!). Topped off by dd2 having to be put on naughty step 3 times, and then weeing on the step Blush - not intentionally I hope! Pheww...and you want 10 BEAR! BTW, re London, I will be staying near Euston, but am not sure if this is near to stations you mentioned?(stop laughing NOVA!) I could meet you off your train, but this could be a case of the blind leading the blind! I will have sling and buggy (fold-up), as can't book pram space on train; if I had the choice I'd def have my pram, just for bags/sleeps/my neck and shoulders!! Just hope Libby will be OK in McClaren, and not loll out of it!.
Right, bed for me!
Diege Smile.

Busyalexsmummy · 22/03/2006 22:51

chacha, still a vote here from baby bjorn sling, i love mine, so simple, stylish and very very easy to useSmile-you can pick them up quite cheaply off ebay tooWink

OP posts:
BEKsmum · 22/03/2006 23:10

Londoner, get finger prints off walls by dabbing firmly with a chunk of white bread - it soaks up the grease apparently!

Now you weren't expecting that were you!!! Grin

Beartime - I can take a hint then, I won't look out for you at Bromley South on the way to the London away day - I'll just go and meet Karma instead Grin Grin See earlier post!!! Wink

Bob the freeholder was bang out of order, I know there are times when they do have rights to come onto you rproperty that this doesn't sound like one of them. Hope your dp gave him a a mouthful - what a week you're having, hope you're ok now.

Right off to bed and to eat a bit of Terry's chocolate orange - the Co-op were selling them 2 for £3 Yum Yum, Karma's dark chocolate Toffee Crisp sounds better though. Did try something truely revolting today Kitkat Chunky Peanut Butter - Bleugh

Sleep tight all Beks

beartime · 23/03/2006 07:34

ChaCha - your AF's returned EnvyThe slingeasy is very easy Grin

Londoner - I just got Caleb a sleeping bag £20 from Mothercare cos he kept waking up cold with his covers down to his waist - and it works really well, tho his hands were still freezing on me this morning! Thanks for the meet offer, but I think I'll go with Beks now cos she's on my way (the less of London I have to go it alone the better Wink)Good idea with the sling and pushchair - never thought of that [dumb emoticon]

Caleb seems to get all scared when there's more than one person looking at him - he'll only smile if he's one to one with someone - are all babies like that or is he a shy baby?

BoB - I would def, stand up for your rights on that one - maybe tell him you're calling the police if he ever sets foot in your door without your permission.

Diege - your afternoon does sound fun! BTW am eating my words here as I've just put Caleb back to long lunchtime nap since he was getting so grumpy in the afternoon Blush - and he didn't wake up the last two days either! This morning he woke up at 5.50, cooed till 6.30 grumbled till6.30 and then went back to sleep yay! I think it's cos yesterday I just let him grumble for an hour till I was ready to get him up at 7! I don't know where Euston is either Blush but I know my trains not going there so I'm prob better off with Londoners offer - but thanks anyway Smile By fold up buggy d'you mean umbrella stroller or pushchair that folds? Do I need to book pram space? I don't have a laying down pram, but I have a travel system pushchair that the carseat slots on top of - would that work or do I need to bring the umbrella stroller - sorry to be so thick!

How do you guys put on your baby bjorn? Cos I bought one 2nd hand from MN and took me 30mins the other day to get him in it and he still wasn't in right!

Oh Beks - SORRY I was confused what you meant - I thought you were going there to meet Karma or something [another dumb emoticon] - no it would be great to meet you there actually - sorry for being stupid! It is on my way, right? How exactly would we do that?

beartime · 23/03/2006 07:36

oops I meant Beks

goldenoldie · 23/03/2006 08:06

Karma - love the apprentice. Think Jo is being picked on now - she is a head-case but did not deserve to be in the boardroom this time.

Beartime - you're coming to the dreaded big smoke. I promise the locals don't bite!

Re: baby bjorn - there should be instructions inside it?

ChaCha - I always buy the quorn chicken chunks - delish.

I liked Cairo too - was a bit worried when I saw guards with M16s posted outside McDonalds. Suppose it is an obvious target tho.

Agree with everyone else on the baby bjorn sling - even if the DTs hate it.

Diege - irritated by the whole 'business case' stuff. Why is being a good employer/keeping your staff because you understand the reality of parenting young children not enough on it's own?

babyonboard · 23/03/2006 08:18

hi all..yes love the apprentice!
does anyone watch 'the armstrongs' after it?..so so funny..i really hope it's actually real..i mean you couldn't script that kind of thing..but it's just tooo strange..

oops dp's heading off so i'd best take over O..catch up later

novadandypowder · 23/03/2006 08:43

Beartime - re: baby bjorn sling (i have the active one, but i think it should be roughly the same?)

There are four ways of adjusting the straps - 2 at the waist and 2 around the back. Make sure these are at their biggest before you put it on for the first time.

Put the strap part on.

Clip baby holder into it.

Adjust the 4 body straps BEFORE you put baby in to make sure it is snug against you.

Clip in one side of the baby holder.

Put in baby.

Clip other side of baby holder in place and clip on the two head straps.

There is also a way of adjusting the back length of the strap part:

There should be a baby bjorn plastic logo joining the shoulder straps that sits in between the shoulder blades? That logo part actually slides up and down the coloured piping it sits on so you can adjust the lumber support.

Hope that makes sense?

Diege · 23/03/2006 09:21

Morning everyone Smile. DD2 back at nursery today (phew!), though have dosed her up with calpol just in case Blush
BEAR: don't panic about pram space!!!The only reason I was concerned was because of the length of my journey (3 hours) as I needed to book a seat. Couldn't guarantee there would be space for my pram if wheelchairs got on, and really needed to be able to sit down at some point. Have a seat booked, but will try in disabled area with buggy (foldable, McClaren that lies flat(ish)if there is space. If not, I fold up buggy and use sling Smile. HOPEFULLY she will be asleep at the times I've booked anyway Smile.
GOLDEN: totally agree with you about employers Angry. I feel like I'm asking them a huge favour, and wanting special privileges. If it does turn out even remotely as I'd like, it will mean I'll have to work twice as hard, not 'skiving' on coffee breaks like everyone else! Still have time for mumsnet though Grin.
Oh, and I am silencing you on any more info' on Apprentice until I've watched it today !!!!! Wink.
NOVA: thanks for sling tips. I've had said sling for 5 years, for all 3 of dds, and only now realised what the plastic adjustable thingy is for Blush Grin. Agree, a bit of a killer on the shoulders, but saves all the anxiety about getting into places/on off train etc... Washes really well too Smile. I think you will recognise me at meet anyway (faded blue sling, McClaren buggy, bags galore, bags under eyes Grin)
OOh feeling much better for my coffee this morning, and gearing up for driving lesson (the dreaded parking), and dd1 and her little friend back after school for tea.
Me-boast (raise eyes to sky time). I've finished my chapter for publishers (only 3 weeks late!!) and am sending it off today!! yeah!!!It's on risk and pregnancy and has been knackering to do, so dead chuffed Smile.
Anyone watching that surragacy (sp?) drama on TV tonight? Has Michelle Collins in it (botoxed and filler-ed to death). Rodeo??? Grin; Wink.
Speak later,
Diege Smile

Rodeo · 23/03/2006 10:27

Morning :)

Bob - How bad ShockAngry What did dp say?

Still waiting for my London train tickets - my friend is sorting them as she works for Midland Mainline - she's texted me a few times to say she's really busy at work and she'll sort them asap, but I'm getting really twitchy about them Grin I've been trying to resist trying not to pester her but I might give in today!

Diege, not sen the drama advertised but sounds emotional! But then again I get emotional over The Games Blush

I've just booked a hair appt for tomorrow morning - not had my hair done for AGES Blush so do feel a bit nervous about them seeing my straw like barnet!

Anything plans for Mothers Day anyone? Dp announced the other day that he was going to play golf this Sunday morning! To which I replied 'That's Mothers day!' heehee. He's now rearranged :) Dp was sneaking something through the house the other day and wouldn't tell me what it was so I asked ds and he chirped up 'A card and some chocolates for you for Mothers Day' Awww, taking advantage of small children Grin

Right have mountains of clean washing to put away so better get off, have lovely days all x x x

sarahsausage · 23/03/2006 10:41

Hiya ladies,

I was away for a while, then decided to come back and chat. But now i'm afraid i'm going through a rough time, (not so dp left me after i told him to leave but didnt mean it Sad) so i'm not really functioning right at the moment and therefore doubt i'll be back for a bit.

Hope you are all enjoying your babies, hope to talk soon,

Sarah xx
