Caleb's been waking early too - 6-6.30am so maybe I need to get some of those blinds as well.

He rolled over today - 4 times!! From front to back - no signs of back to front yet. I;m not that keen on that one anyway cos then I'll be dodgy about putting him anywhere and leaving him. At the mo at least if I put him on his back he's OK.

LilJ - do you eat any Mexican food? Cos DH is Texan we have Mexican food coming out of our ears - English food is too 'bland'.

Karma - DH just had a nose op too tho' I haven't noticed if its made a difference to the snoring yet as I'm asleep! It bothered me our first wedding night but then we flew to Texas for our honeymoon and missed a night's sleep due to jet lag so next night I slept thru it and never had any probs since Smile Caleb's been grizzling a lot too - maybe the start of teething? BTW did you see our diet thread?

I'm with the hand on the creme egg - my fav way of eating it was always with my finger!!

Doing the two window thing for the first time as broadband is down - works great!

Rodeo · 14/03/2006 21:51

A quickie as I'm enjoying Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares - he's in Derby Grin at La Gondola, I've been for some awful work xmas do's there LOL!

Diege, just sent you the first (of many to come I'm sure) email regarding the trip down to London :)

Bear, Jess doesn't do front to back just back to front!

Rodeo · 14/03/2006 22:03

WOW! Just snooping on another thread and seen a lady from the Sept 05 post natal thread who's 12 weeks pg - with twins! Shock Grin She says she'll have 3 under 1s!!

novadandypowder · 14/03/2006 22:27

3 under 1's???? Suppose those with triplets manage somehow.....but not something I'd relish.

I might be able to help out with a place to stay for the London meet up? Don't have a spare cot but I'm sure we could sort something out??

Sloane Street near Euston?...'snigger' Wink. It's certianly not walking distance, but thats what black cabs are for. Whats the shop?

Busyalexsmummy · 15/03/2006 08:52

Morning all, warning self absorbed post here!

Had a really rubbish day yesterday, woke up at 3am being sick and again at 4am, so bad nights sleep in all.
Dp got ds1 up and boy didnt we know it-from the moment he got up it was world war 3 and he got worse and worse all day.
After dp went to work(after a row about him being totally unsympathetic whilst I was hanging my head over a bucket in between trying to sort washing out) ds1 got worse so I put him to bed at 2.30pm, I put ds2 down then we all slept till 5.30pm, I got ds1 up thinking hed be ok after a good sleep....well....I was mistaken, he was going mental- running into doors/walls, throwing himself on the floor and high pitched screeching and screaming to the point where I almost rang the dr as I thought there was something seriously wrong with him. I tried everything, bribery, food etc etc and in the end just sat there crying as I didnt know what on earth to do and Id run out of nurofen so the stomach cramps had come back and I felt completely hopeless.Sad

Is this a perfectly normal thing for a toddler? Ive had days when hes had all day tantrums before, but this was something elseShock
heres hoping today is a better day.

goldenoldie · 15/03/2006 08:59

beartime - mexican is my DH's favourite. He is always moaning at the lack of decent Mexican resturants in London or anywhere in the Uk really.

I was out on the lash last night - am suffering for it today but consoling myself with large bowl of leftover macaroni cheese (about 4 billion syns) for breakfast. Hardly eaten anything for the past two days - have felt flu-like symptoms, so I figure I need to eat something substantial now.

The DTs are still going from 6pm to 6 - 7am. We are into the second month of them doing this now - hope it is a pattern that will long continue.

DH and I still can't beleive it - DS1 was 18 months before he went through the night regularly.

goldenoldie · 15/03/2006 09:05

Busy - our posts crossed. You poor thing. Is there anyone that can take the kids off you hands for an hour or two?

Diege · 15/03/2006 09:42

MorningSmile. BUSY, what a nightmare Shock. Sounds like extreme, but normal toddler bahaviour, based on my limited experinece, and perhaps Alex coming down with something? We had a few weeks of this when Scarlett was 2 and a half - slamming against the door, making herself sick, hysterical tantrums over nothing, often in middle of night. Sounds the same sort of thing, and I used to collapse sobbing in a heap, pleading with her to stop Blush. A relatively short stage though. Hope this helps in a way, knowing that others have been through this. Can't imagine being ill at same time though; how do you feel today (stupid question).
NOVA: that's so kind of you offering a place to stay for meet-up; I'm touched Smile. I would bring Libby's sleeping bag, so she could squeeze up next to me if we couldn't arrange to get a cot. LOL about Sloane street...hmmm, I had a feeling it would be in another continent! The shop's Oilily; we have a small one in Manchester, but I am a bit of an addict...
GOLDEN: good distraction strategy with macaroni cheese syns...what about booze Grin!! I can't talk. Had 3 slices of DH's chocolate catapillar cake last night, and then made us both do Davinia video in front of TV; what is it with men and aerobics?? Laughed my head off, which he didn't find too amusing!!!
Had a nightmare night too last night (though pales in relation to Busy's experience). Scarlett woke screaming at 11, settled her back ok, but then she woke again throughout night, eventually waking LIbby at 5 who never settled back. Oh to have a full 8 hours unbroken sleep..it's not much to ask is it? Grin.
Diege Smile

goldenoldie · 15/03/2006 10:27

Diege - Hmmmmmmm, hoping you would not notice the booze syns, don't even want to think about it, cocktails, wine, chasers.................

LilJ · 15/03/2006 11:18

Golden & JenJam - I can't make it today after all as have to go car shopping. (Totally fed up with squeezing the car seat into a two door) It also sounds like Golden is feeling a bit tired today Wink! Next week?

J xx

Londoner · 15/03/2006 12:22

HelloSmile,

Looks like I'm a little behind........

Busy, love your ideas, not much of a shopper really but I'll hazzard a guess £20-£30? Sorry to hear you're so poorly... and with poorly/post-poorly toodler too! Have always found toodlers are a complete handful once they're on the mend from an illness... making up for lost time... also kids always know when you're poorly/down/under parr and often react to this...hth....can you get any help? Have you asked your dp directly if he can help you... often I find they need to be asked...toldGrin.
Good luck to all you slimmersSmile.
Lol at you this morning Golden, glad to hear you've been enjoying yourself, isn't it nice to feel tired for a reason other than being up with the baby/ies!
Rodeo, Shock at 3 under 1's...can you imagine! Bet she's thrilled though. Yay! Glad to see you're really coming to London soonSmile. Hope you're feeling a bit better today?
LOVE hearing about those rolling babies!
Creme eggs? Love the choc-hate the cream...
Why Londoner?.... although I wasn't born in London, I have lived here most of my life and often have that song we learnt at school in my head(?!*%/?"#¢?§¶)'Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner',lol...
Diege - yay, you're coming to London soon too! Hope you had a great day yesterday for dh b.day.
Brownie - well done with the jabs, hope T slept it off for you?
Karma, well done on getting Ella to sleep in cot on her own, v.impressive....E is still managing to squeeze into her cribBlush as I've been too chicken to swap her to the cot yet.. any tips?...other than cutting up the moses basket and lining the cot with it, Grin. Hope Ella easier to handle today...looks like you had a tough one yesterday?
Nova- which highchair did you get? Did you not go to the awards too?
Am interested to hear you all talking about weaning and also about missing optimum time to do so if you leave it til 6 months...what a quandary.... allergies run in the family but E is very interested in food, is siiting up, can grab things and put them in her mouth, looks at us all as we eat and drink and I do feel guilty...isn't it hard to know what to do for the best?
Tessa - glad you found the link helpful.... oh, am inspired by you changing Ash to his cot with such apparent ease! Sounds great! Good luck with your move/extension campaignWink.
LilJ - hope you see some teeth soon. Manolos eh? 'm impressed!
My P.name? - Lottie Old Brompton....sounds like she's a bit past it!
Beartime - sorry to hear your dh health is not good, this must be a hard thing for you?
Tex - to try and answer your questions..... considered leaving London when ds1 was 5 but when it came down to it I really don't fancy anywhere else...I love London... ds1 goes to a good state secondary school, hopefully ds2 will get a place there too.... ds2 and dd1 go to a wonderful state primary. Agree that having more children changes your standard of living... we don't have much each month,if any, for leisure... but I'm happy with the way things are and have never minded making 'sacrifices'.... sounds cheesy I know, but as long as we're all together, I'm happy, and if I'm happy then the whole family is happy... I do understand your dilemma - we had the same thing with this baby....and we decided to have another in the end, which is why the big gap.....perhaps that's a good way to look at it...if you were to have another, would you want a small or a big gap? hth?
Hi to everyone else too....bye!

novadandypowder · 15/03/2006 12:41

Londoner - we've got \link{http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/hcsvanoatmeala&source=mumsnet\this one}, as you can use it as a seat up to adulthood and we have plenty of space for it.

I never go to work things with DH, unless it's a show where I can sit in the audience while he goes off to work. Don't mind, he says they're all boring.

Natalie was very full of the joys of spring at 6am this morning, and is currently squealing on my lap so must dash.

beartime · 15/03/2006 16:22

Woah Rodeo - that would be interesting!

Poor Busy, sorry can't help you as no prior experience!

Golden what do you do to stop early morning waking?

Londoner - with the weaning someone made a good point on the other thread that they grab at a book but it doesn't mean they are ready to read! So I am a bit skeptical of them looking at food longingly - I think they look at it because we're so obviously enjoying it! Yes it is hard with DH's health but not too bad.

Tex I read somewhere that the 3rd is the easiest cos the 1st everything's new, the 2nd you're recovering, but the 3rd is just fun - don't know if its true or not!

beartime · 15/03/2006 16:23

sorry I meant AN other thread!

beartime · 15/03/2006 17:03

Diege - I thought you might be interested that I have been messing around with Caleb's naps cos he used to wake up 45 mins in to his lunchtime nap without fail and never go back to sleep. And after reading baby whisperer she said touchy babies usually like a long nap mid-morning, and I noticed I always had to wake him up after his morning nap. So now he's sleeping 9-10.30, 1-1.45, and 4.45-5.00 and he's doing so much better! He was really grizzly b4 after he'd got up a lot of times. So GF may not always be right for every single baby Grin tho' I do like what she says.

goldenoldie · 15/03/2006 18:24

Beartime - what early morning wakings? The DTs wake between 6 and 7 have a feed and usually one will go back to sleep for a bit, but the other won't, so no going back to bed for me.

Jenjam - good to see you today, it was fun and free - my idea of a good day out.

LilJ - Jenjam mentioned something on a Saddlers Wells next week - maybe you two can hook up?

Diege · 15/03/2006 19:33

Hi everyone!Smile. Interesting stuff about nap lengths BEAR. The morning and lunch ones are OK for me (at the mo), it's the later one which is a problem (4.45). I have to bring it forward a bit, but she does have more than 15 mins; as you said a while ago though, she is waking at 6, so obviously needs a bit more sleep - always tired again by 6.45pm Smile.
On the subject of early waking, this has been a well-researched, obsessive area of mine (having 3 'Hoobes' babies - does this mean anything to anyone? Grin). Gina and others say you can try the old controlled crying, but it would take up to 6 weeks, and hardly ever successful then. They say 6 isnlt really classed as particualrly early, even 5, though latter can be draining. After plowing through loads of books on this, even the hard liners seem to throw their hands up and say (if naps are not overly long in day), just go to bed yourself an hour earlier! Grin.
ATTENTION!!!Progress update on LOndon arrangments!!! Rodeo and me have been furiously e-mailing, and I'm going to try and find avaliablility of a few dates for train tommorrow.
NOVA: if it's OK with you, could I e-mail you the decided day/time when I know, as it could be that my train gets in at a nightmare day/ time that would be difficult for you Smile.
Hope you are OK BUSY, have been thinking about you Smile. LONDONER, yes, Lottie sounds a bit past it - perhaps the 'Madam' of the brothel, a bit like Cynthia Payne? Grin.
Right, quorn pieces call..
Diege and Liberty Smile

browniechick · 15/03/2006 19:42

Hello All. Hmm Diege - lol with Bronwies!! Don't think they are a splinter group!! Just tired fingers hitting the wrong keys!

T seemed to settle down after his jabs - gave him calpol whilst still at the doctors - he didn't need any more- so think he is back to normal now.

Have got him a bumbo seat today - so will see how he gets on with it tomorrow!

Have also received the cosy toes that I ordered off the internet today - am very excited about using it for the first time! Isn't it sad that I get so excited over purchases that aren't even for me!!!??? Reading some of the other posts (those of you that have pram obsessions!) it seems I'm not the only one!!!!! Wink

Busy - hope your day has not been too bad & that your lo is almost back to normal self now.

Greetings to all those I've missed! Am off to weigh Thomas tomorrow - my guess is that he'll be about 15lb 10oz (he is 16wks on Fri) - will let you know how close I am!

Brownie & Thomas

mamman · 15/03/2006 21:13

Hi all
Havent been on for weeks as DD coming out of a growth spurt - well feeding every couple of hours - DD hasnt actually spurted much to my dismay - 17 weeks and 12lb so a wee thing really

Is anyone else weaning this weight of baby - Im thinking of waiting a while till shes a bit heavier - tho she does put everything in her mouth with a squeal of delight.

Thanks for all the links to weaning - Id forgotten about all that. DS1 has excema and we were advised to delay weaning and in the end he has a few allergies too - some of which he has grown out of but just a warning really - if you do see any reactions then slow down with the weaning.

Re those trying for new babes - I BF for 10mo with the first and then it took 5mo to fall for DD. The 2year gap is great. Smile

Re weight loss - well done for getting it together and good luck - I am basically GOLDENOLDIE stats but at 11lb7 am already half a stone lighter than prepreg - so does it still count if I join in? My main prob is will power and a serious chocolate/cake addition (2-3 daily) which needs dealt with before I stop bfing Grin.

ChaCha · 15/03/2006 21:55

Evening all,

Busy - Hope you're feeling better now? How's the ebay stuff going? Think it looks great btw. Well done. Looks like you've put a lot of hard work into it all.

Enthusia - Sorry to hear that you're all down with the virus now - it seems to be going around. Hugs x

I am still b/f DS but only on an average of six times a day. He has top up bottles (and sometimes a bottle on it's own when sleeping with dad) around 4-6 times a day (3-4oz each feed) and it's working really well. Have a v.supportive H/V who said we were a good advertisement for mixed feeding. Would like to know how the other mums are getting on who started the top ups earlier on. I read a lot of negative reports on mixed feeding and was made to feel v.guilty about it all (from friends and peers alike) but am pleased to say that DS is a v.happy, healthy baby and his weight gain (now 13lbs at 14weeks) is progressing beautifully. Also v.glad that he is still enjoying being b/f and i'm enjoying it more now that it's not so on demand.

DS has been falling asleep earlier these nights, tonight it was 7pm and he wakes up only a couple of times for feed/nappy change. It's quite exciting to be able to do 'other things' earlier on in the evening than postponing till half asleep later at night. Yipee!

Hope everyone else is well. As for those b/f and TTC, are you on a TTC thread? I loved the previous years on TTC threads on MN - they were fab!

Londoner - I too love London but DH doesn't unfortunately, he's not fond of the hustle and bustle of a big city. The school I'm hoping to put DS in is in North London so am already wondering how that is going to work out. Sacrifice is definitely on the cards there. How are you anyway? All's well i hope.

Goodnight all.

beartime · 15/03/2006 22:29

Golden - I meant b4 7am - so I guess you just feed them and put them down again.

Diege - interesting abt the waking thing. That's what BW says too - that you have to put with it. Caleb doesn't usually cry but just plays for ages and I leave him till 7am if I can, but if he wakes up at 6 I go in and put him back under the blankets and this morning fed him for 5 mins (the advantage of norks you can whip out!) and put him back again then got him up at 7. But if he's awake too long it throw his naps off during the day or makes him grizzly, oh well. I just bought GF's sleep and contented baby to confident child so I will look in there too. My mum used to always feed us at 6am but its so early when you dont go to bed till 11/11.30pm. And what is Hoobes?

When do you guys give your baby calpol for the jabs? Before, after or as needed? I saw brownie said at the doctors, anyone else? Cos he's got his tomorrow Sad

Brownie where did you get your cosy toes from?

Mamman - you're lighter than pre-preg! Shock Envy

ChaCha - i did join a TTC in March thread but they have a separate chat thread so I'm not feeling that part of it really and don't really want to join the chat as I'll spend too much time on here!

NTW everyone I LOVE the book 'Taking charge of your fertility' - it is so good for loads of things - knowing about your body, and what's going on, not getting pregnant and getting pregnant, etc. I really recommend it! Still haven't got AF back yet though so am charting to see if I ovulate first and make the most of it Grin I said to DH abt we could have twins today and he said he would be so happy if we did, but don't have any in the family Sad

Rodeo · 15/03/2006 22:44

Evening :)

Yes can confirm Operation Londonia is well underway!

Mamman - awww, what a little dot :) My babies are always small. Ds was only 17lb at a year old. He's still teeny at 4 - probably a good 10cm smaller than his peers, he makes up for it in energy, daring and attitude though!

Busy, hope your day got better :) Good idea about the fathers nov thread, although you can count my dp out he's a miserable bugger Grin (He's not that bad)

GO, have you got a good hangover cure? Did it work? Well done on your night out - I always feel I've really achieved something if I go out and enjoy myself! How sad!

Londoner, loved your reply to Tex, I was trying to post something similar but couldn't find the right words. You should be renamed HappyLondoner :)

Nova, how's Jess's twin Nat? :)

PS I cannot wait for our next Nov thread baby! You mustn't disappear onto a new thread, although we may let you venture on to one occasionally Grin

tex111 · 15/03/2006 22:50

Beartime, I read 'Taking Charge' way back when we started trying for Toby. It's a brilliant book. I even purchased the software and did all the temping and everything. They have a good website at www.ovusoft.com with lots of info and discussion groups. It was my intro into things like MN.

Londoner, very interested to hear your DS1 goes to a state secondary. I thought for sure we'd need to go private for secondary school but you've given me hope! It's so true that if Mum is happy the whole family is happy. Very true here. Luckily, I'm probably the happiest I've ever been at the moment! Been dreaming of having children most of my life so feeling very blessed. Smile

Our new kitchen should be finished by Friday so I've started nesting. We're going to put Tobes and Rosie in the same room so I've let Tobes choose new bedding and wall stickers for his 'side' (all Spiderman) and some wall stickers for Rosie's 'side' (nursery rhymes). We're going to make the third bedroom a playroom, keeping in mind it might end up as Rosie's room eventually. I've ordered an alphabet frieze for the playroom too! So much fun to finally have the energy and opportunity to make this place a home. Once the painting is done I'll be inviting everyone over for a coffee morning!

tex111 · 15/03/2006 22:55

Londoner, forgot to say that we've talked about having a big gap between Rosie and the next one (if there is a next one!). I can imagine that when I start approaching menopause I'll want to have just one more! I figure I've got a good ten years before then. On the other hand I'm so broody at the moment. DH was saying 'How can you be broody. You're HOLDING our baby.' But seeing Rosie just makes me want to have another one. And she's been so easy, though I realise that the next one might not be. Oh what to do, what to do? Smile

Busyalexsmummy · 15/03/2006 23:40

hahahaha I know who the hoobs are, in fact, bought a talking ivor for ds1 at the weekend, quite scary actually, he says "your really hoobacious......." in a sketchy voice!

Today has been better, felt back to normal by about 4pm and ds1 was better today than yesterday, although still very hard work.

wow, cant believe how many of you are thinking about ttc again! lol

Apparently, charting basal temp is a good effective way of finding ovulation times, but to be effective needs to be done over 2/3 months to fully recognise a pattern emerging.

gotta go x
