Hee hee northern : actually that means that he was well turned out and you guys came across as nice parents. When someone looks back in the notes and sees "thank you for referring this rather complex case" or "this extremely unusual lady" it tells the reader something that the writer is no longer permitted to scribe: gone are the days of uber-blunt letters. (there are many examples from the 60s and seventies if you go on Google, mostly cos the old-school docs writing them never thought they would see the light of public domain, so if a patient was rude/agressive, they said so!)

NorthernChinchilla · 04/07/2012 20:28

good thing they don't know about feeding him chips in bars then

Hah! Oh, I can't wait to tell DP that. His Dad is a GP and probably does the same, we'll have to mention it to him too Grin

gee no advice but try not to worry until you've seen GP, harder than I sounds though I know.

kate happy birthday!

tyel happy 4th of July, I love the sound of a house boat, and DS will be able to have awesome birthday parties when he's older! Glad to hear its going well back at work.

LMF hope he's ok, and that you manage to get through to them first thing.

Hope all of the poorly mummies and babas get well soon. I have a sore throat and DD has been snotty for a week but it doesn't seem to be coming to anything thankfully.

No update from me, sorry! Still no AF, still no positive test. I'm getting fed up of being in limbo, hopefully I'll have an answer soon!

Very long day here after a bad night last night, completely exhausted. DS had his appointment at Addenbrookes this morning. He was a little star, we mentioned the GOS physio, they said she's one of the best and most knowledgable in the country, though didn't seem surprised at the rough handling. Then we had to go up to Norwich to collect the blackout blinds city link failed to deliver, then got DS some new boots from the startrite factory outlet for £18 :), thanks to scooby if she's still around for telling me about it.

Quick one for aethel, I saw a sign at the hospital pointing to nuclear medicine and I'm curious?

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2012 20:48

Thanks Gee and Northern. I'm sure the humidity isn't helping, but the cough is back, as is the wheeze and he's having to work harder:( I suspect he will be back on some form of inhaler for a while:( I hadn't realised that the atrovent was working quite so well, I'd got used to him just being periodically whistly, like a squidgy pink kettle:o

I'm liking the idea of looking up old referral letters aethel :o

Right, another early night, when octoboy stops mauling my left nipple

NorthernChinchilla · 04/07/2012 21:08

Aw, squidgy pink kettle! It's dry heat that's actually good for it isn't it, rather than this God-awful humidity? We actually bought a 4.5 tog duvet today because it's going to be so sweaty unpleasant overnight. I do hope you get seen soon.

And will you tell the hormones or whatever in your wee to start behaving seven, this just isn't on Grin!

Seriously, it must be knotted-tummy time if you're in limbo like that, can't be fun.

Time to sort out the second load of washing and that duvet...

nuclear medicine is when they feed you pills to make you glow in the dark, they do it to night nurses to cut down NHS lighting costs

It's a branch of radiology (X-ray doctors): there are scans where they give you a smidgeon of radioactive dye/chemical (it breaks down harmlessly) and then put you in a machine that goes "ping" to check if things are working. Used to detect clots in the lung, look at kidney function, bone scans, stuff like that.

aethelfleda · 04/07/2012 21:10

And good luck to your small whistler lmf, I hope you have some temporary inhalers? If not ring and grump at your GP to get some, and hope Octoboy is seen and sorted very soon.

it's all gone quiet up there. Yay.

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2012 21:12

Ahhh...

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2012 21:15

aethel the bonkers but lovely paediatric specialist asthma nurse bod wanted him off the atrovent at 6months to see how his lungs are coping. I've got her numbers for if he doesn't cope, so I'll ring for a chat in morning. I have his inhaler here, and am so tempted to give him it, but she needs to hear his chest as is:(

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2012 21:17

Also for quietness!

seven77 · 04/07/2012 21:43

LMF must be so hard listening to him and not giving him his inhaler :( would trying freegle for a dehumidifier be of any use?

Thanks aethel not as exciting as I'd hoped then. I knew they done that already but not what it was called.

northern thanks, it's quite frustrating. I was the same with Eva though. We'd been trying for 2 years and given up hope before we conceived DS, with my irregular (then) periods I didn't test until I was 6 weeks so I could have been the same then. I guess it's just how my body is!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/07/2012 21:55

Just a quick one.

I am one happy & proud mummy tonight. Darcie's school report came home tonight and she is excelling in all subjects and above the national average in a few Grin

Had our final meeting with the hotel re the wedding and it's all in place now Grin so exciting 45 days to go hehe.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/07/2012 21:56

LMF I hope Octoboy is better soon.

LittleMissFlustered · 05/07/2012 02:23

I've just caved. He's coughing do much he's made himself sick:( He's breathing hard enough that he's really sucking the skin under his ribs in too. Will be on the phone first thing tomorrow.

Thanks for the well wishes:)

BJR · 05/07/2012 08:19

Hope Octoboy is doing ok this morning LMF

Only one bottle last night so i've had a better night sleep than the last couple. And proud Mummy moment DS has been saying dadada since he woke up today :o

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 05/07/2012 08:27

LMF Hope Octoboy is doing better this morning?

Sky slept from 8:30 thru to 7:20 this morning Smile

OiMissus · 05/07/2012 08:54

Poor Octoboy! Good luck lmf with getting him sorted soon.

GeeandTee · 05/07/2012 13:32

Poor Octoboy :(

Well, GP didn't know what the lump was so we have an urgent referral to paed consultant. Don't know how quickly urgent means we'll be seen. Trying not to worry and totally boycotting Google but feel a bit scared by it all. We have had so much bad luck with health etc lately, I just feel like I couldn't cope if something was wrong with DD :(

aethelfleda · 05/07/2012 13:45

(((hugs))) gee, but you are totally doing the right thing to get it checked out. Paediatric doctors sometimes have quicker-access clinics than in adult medicine, so hopefully it won't be too long. Has she always had it or has it come on? It depends how deep in it is, but it may be something completely harmless like a hamartoma (lump where the tissue is denser than usual) or a neurofibroma (another lump of nerve type tissue) which has no ill effect.

aethelfleda · 05/07/2012 13:48

How's Octoboy doing LMF ? Hope the review goes OK...

GeeandTee · 05/07/2012 14:46

She definitely hasn't always had it as I would have noticed. Its only really obvious if she's sitting up and naked. DH has done her batth for the last month or so while I did DS's physio and he wouldn't notice things like that, I did it last night as he was late home and saw it straight away. So I think it must have come up in the last month or so.

aethel thank you so much for giving me two non scary options that it might be! Will focus on that!

Can just about see the top of a tooth today, I hope that might mean she sleeps beTter from now on.

Sorry for me me me posts.

LittleMissFlustered · 05/07/2012 19:02

Couldn't get hold of the coordinator. Temp is high. He can't keep a feed down. Off to doctors.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 05/07/2012 19:41

LMF Hope Octoboy is alright x

Off to a friends wedding tomorrow. Both girls are bathed, Darcie is in bed, Sky is just being fed and then will be put to bed. All our outfits are sorted for tomorrow, so it will be making sure Darcie has backpack full of activities & small pack lunch and making sure Sky has enough milk & some fruit for the day.

NorthernChinchilla · 05/07/2012 20:42

Hey LMF, how's Octoboy, what has the doc said? Really hope it's 'just' a virus or something, but I know it'll be harder on him. Hope the little whistler improves soon.

It must be a big worry Kate- at least it means you'll be seen soon, and it is far, far more likely to be something benign than horrible, or at least something that may just need keeping an eye on. I know what it's like though, when I spotted the hole at the base of DS's spine that I'd not seen before when he was four months, and we got a pretty-sharpish referral, especially as I had something that could mean DS's might be something nasty. I did worry, but it turned out to be nothing.

Sounds like you'll have a lovely day DSM!

Oi, I had to laugh as part way through your post, where you say 'BOi loves lights', I read the next bit as you having crystal meth Confused?! My excuse is this is the second late night I've had to work this week... Unless you are an international drug dealer and the marketing is just a euphamism?

Dinner is needed and yet DP is still arsing about on his computer Hmm

Evening all

Work manic today but its the weekend ...yay...at least im working 4 day weeks now. Ds woke at 5 this am had his bottle and eventually went back to sleep so of course i went back to bed and woke at 7.30 when i usually leave at 7.45 which resulted in a speedy shower, no breakfast and run out the door. He finally woke 8 apparently with a massive poo for daddy so glad i missed that Smile

The cm called earlier to get permission to calpol figgyboy as he was quite grumpy with bright red cheeks, he has since been home and giving sophie the giraffe the chewing of her life. He's slept through for 3 nights again not fancying chances tonight.

Sorry to hear there are health concerns with some thread babies hope they all better soon!!
