Happy birthday to me, and happy 4th of July to tyel

My best present is the conclusion of Operation Reclaim the Boobs. No feeds or pumping required. They're mine, all mine

Thanks for the water info. He has a cup with meals but mostly likes to throw water round the room rather than drink it. I'm also offering him some in a bottle through the day but he's only had an oz at most. Seems happy enough though so I'll try not to stress.

bjr that is good going with the food Shock hope your night wasn't too busy

Good luck to seven and awch for those positive tests. It's almost as tense as it was when waiting to hear if oi's house offer was accepted Grin

GeeandTee · 04/07/2012 07:36

Three feeds in the night:( I have to tell myself its a growth spurt or I would otherwise not get out of bed this morning (not like that's actually a choice with a toddler to deal with). She's really frantic for boob and takes a full feed so I don't think its just for comfort.

Jealous of how much BJR s LO is eating!

I've been giving DD tap water in a sippy cup with meals.

Seven when are you testing again?!

OiMissus · 04/07/2012 08:06

Mornink! happy Birthday Kate! And indeed, I wish plenty of 4th of July shenanigans for Tyel. :)
I rarely give BOi water, to be honest. He should be getting what he needs from his milk, and most of the food he's had with me has probably had good water content (fruit/yoghurt, etc). I have bought a plethora of sippy cups though so should really put them in practice more often.
seven I don't know the tap water answer, but I can guess that advice says 12 months, and we should just ignore the fact that our LO's like to eat trainers, shoes, slippers, flip flops, hands, and any unsanitary object that they can get hold of!
I want my Mat leave back, I want to sort out the house and get busy on his nursery!

BJR · 04/07/2012 08:06

Another long night! He demolished 7 ounce bottles at 9.30, 12.30 and 3.30 but then let me have a 4 hour gap and has just had the next one. Gee im also telling myself must be a growth spurt, the amount of formula i've got through in the last two days is obscene!

He seems to be enjoying the food :o although I wish everything came in a frube packet as he eats those with no mess!

All this TTC talk is making me broody, for us I know its sensible to wait at least another year before trying. I wouldn't mind a yummy newborn though.

mopsytop · 04/07/2012 08:09

Kate, minimopsy still won't take water. Refuses point blank from a bottle. Keep offering her a sippy cup but no luck so far. The hv said not to worry, just keep offering it and she should get most of her hydration from formula anyway until she's one.

Northern, minimopsy's bedroom doubles as my study so there are no baby decorations apart from the mobile on her cot. Planning to move in a year or two so not too bothered. Plus we never had a specific child-centred theme as kids and I don't remember being bothered

bjr, minimopsy never goes more than three hours between bottles. Hv said now she's eating she should drop at least one feed bit so far she's shown no interest in that. She's still only on veg and weetabix and stuff though, maybe when I start giving her meat etc she will want less formula.

Happy 4th of shyly Tyek!

BJR · 04/07/2012 08:11

Oh and I think somewhere in the back of my brain 6 months is ok for tap water. Not sure where I got that from but thats what DS has been drinking throwing round the kitchen for the last couple of weeks.

And Happy Birthday Kate!

BJR · 04/07/2012 08:15

Same here Mopsy but its usually only 3 hourly in the day! It's been 3 hourly all night for the last two. Worked out that he had 56 ounces of formula yesterday Confused

mopsytop · 04/07/2012 08:22

Ha! I meant happy 4th of July Tyel!

And happy birthday Kate!

CherryBlossom27 · 04/07/2012 08:25

Hi all

I'm a bit behind on the thread, lots been happening on here!

Good luck with the pregnancy tests :)

I think DH and I will wait until January/February next year before TTC no. 2! I think it will be alot harder to get over the birth with a toddler to look after at the same time, but the benefit is I won't be bored as I've struggled with boredom whilst on maternity leave.

I've got a cold, but it's mainly at the sore throat stage at the moment and I'm feeling extremely sorry for myself :o I'm going to get DS and myself ready soon as I want to go to the shops for 9am and get stuff for dinner tonight before I just collapse on the settee in self pity! I will most likely be purchasing some medicinal cakes and or chocolate too :o

aethelfleda · 04/07/2012 08:27

for Kate's victory and happy birthday!

We are still totally BF at this end, DS's cold is working through, I'm going to try again this weekend and wind down as much as I can. I think giving water with meals and spacing out feeds is probably the best way to avoid apoplexy (his) and we'll see, I want my bosoms back eventually!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 04/07/2012 08:29

Happy Birthday Kate

Wish this lousy weather would disappear - really reflects my mood right now - sad & stormy Sad

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2012 09:05

Happy birthday Kate :o

Happy 4th July Tyel :o

Happy caffeine consumption everyone else!

Octoboy is not amused today. There don't appear to be enough boobs:/ I'm going to try calpol and a little breakfast next:(

Xiaoxiong · 04/07/2012 10:03

Thanks everyone!! Not quite sure what we're going to as the weather is not really conducive to the traditional 4th of July barbecue.

mopsy after a couple of glasses it definitely becomes the fourth of shuyly...

Well it's weird being back at work. You were all absolutely right, it's not as bad as I feared - in fact I'm having the opposite problem, in that it feels like I never left and the whole baby thing is just a dream that never happened. I have to keep looking at my phone to remind myself I have a baby boy at home waiting for me!! (And of course I remember when I pump twice a day...) I came back to find out I've just been given a raise, which was a nice sweetener on day one Grin

The separation is not so bad at the moment because we've moved onto our houseboat in London from Mon-Thurs all summer - I'm taking the water taxi to work every morning which only takes 15 minutes and is glorious. When we're back in Eton and particularly when school starts in September, it will be much harder with a 90 min commute each way. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it...

Only downside at the moment is DH and my parents are having some ishoos as they are being helicopter grandparents and undermining his confidence somewhat. Eg. DS has decided he won't take bottles all of a sudden - having happily taken them in the past - cue total freak out from my mother that he is going to starve and it's DH's fault for not forcing me to stop breastfeeding earlier Hmm

BeeMyBaby · 04/07/2012 11:55

Happy birthday kate

figgy dd2 is like your ds with the clothes, its not the length its the width Blush

dd2 has had a fever since sunday evening, so slept through all the flights etc on monday, slept through yesterday and is still sleeping (only wakes to cry), but only if I hold her so not getting much done. Dr told us she has a little bit of a red throat and to try get a urine sample...

very excited for you seven if you get a +ve!

KateM77 · 04/07/2012 12:46

Thanks all for the birthday wishes. DS has now had his first thick formula poo. He normally looks pleased with himself when he pops, but today he laughed so hard he gave himself hiccups Grin

I thought it was cooled boiled water until they're 1, but as oi pointed out there's an irony to that.

tyel your current commute sounds most pleasant, and congrats on the pay rise too.

Get well soon AethelSpawn and BabyBee . Good luck getting a urine sample Confused

KateM77 · 04/07/2012 12:48

That should of course have said poos not pops. Bloody autocorrect!

Figgygal · 04/07/2012 13:15

Happy 4th Tyel am proper jealous of your houseboat that sounds brilliant do you not find it a squish now you have LO? I have always wanted one!!

I couldn?t imagine another baby at the moment I am still thinking we are going to be a single child family actually but not saying never again just yet. Am 31 so have time to decide.

Well DS slept through last night that is 2 nights in a row, he is having chicken curry for tea tonight which will hopefully get the poo moving EVERYTHING seems to be bung him up, bread, breadsticks, pasta, bananas, potatoes all have had an effect. He has porridge for breakfast with prunes or apricots in it, veggies at lunch and then veggies with protein for tea and maybe some rice cakes in the day and everytime I have introduced one of those other things have had to drop them again really quickly. I thought he was good at drinking water but now I have put it in a different beaker with the measuring lines I can see that though he looks like he is drinking it he isn?t so going to have to start putting it in a bottle again when out or his doidy when home, though he still tends to throw it everywhere If I do it. I just give him filtered water out of the fridge as I read that you don?t have to boil it anymore after 6 months.

My 13 month old niece was weighed yesterday, she is 7th centile for height and 75th for weight so the HV said she was overweight, which is funny as she weighs the same as figgyboy and she never eats she is just not interested in food. I think another example of nodding and smiling at HV advice!!

mopsytop · 04/07/2012 14:06

figgy, my niece was a proper little chub when a baby, 95th centile weight and defs less than 50th centile height (and the cutesy chubby bundle you can imagine!). Once she started walking it all came off. She's now a normal slim little child. So I think so long as you're not stuffing your baby full of chips and cake, it's all good :)

aethelfleda · 04/07/2012 14:16

We can't stuff them full of cake?!?!

The Spawn is definitely getting better and now doing his best to do pressups and crawl (well, wriggle backwards anyway.) I had a go at hand and footprints this morning: he was not amused (I bought a four pack of canvasses and intend to get the DDs to add their handprints later today).

Love the sound of the houseboat tyel, does it stay in dry dock during the winter? Do you just have two of everything to avoid moving stuff back and forth? And is it fixed or do you roam? V exciting stuff!!

mopsytop · 04/07/2012 14:22

Yeah vay jealous of houseboat Tyel, is it like a canal narrowboat? I'd LOVE a houseboat.

seven and awch, updates please!!!!!

Mmmm cake. In this house aethel, minimopsy would be lucky if there was any left over for her :)

OiMissus · 04/07/2012 15:45

How very fabulous Tyel!
Envy
chips and cake... ahem. But chips are very easy for them to eat. They have that crispy outer which is so good to grasp, and the mashy innards which are easy to digest.
Pizza is OK though, right? :)

LittleMissFlustered · 04/07/2012 16:48

I'm ringing the asthma coordinator in morning. Octoboy is off his inhaler as per our plan, and he doesn't sound even remotely good:(

Hope everyone is having a super day:)

GeeandTee · 04/07/2012 19:36

Sorry LMF must be worrying.

I am worried about DD as I just noticed in the bath that she has a lump on one side at the bottom of her spine. Its not a defined lump IFKWIM, more like the muscle on one side is much more developed and bows out. I'm surprised I haven't noticed it before but after all the health issues with DS I'm now paranoid about DD and stupid things like tumours are now taking over my thoughts. If it is just extra muscle why would she have so much more on one side than the other, she doesn't seem to be one-sided in doing anything? Argh I really don't need anything else to worry about. I'll make a GP appt for her tomorrow. Anyone heard of anything like this before? I'm not going to google and scare myself even more!

aethelfleda · 04/07/2012 19:55

There are all sorts of assymetrical "normal varients" gee and I don't know if it will reassure you that muscle tumours are exceedingly rare in
This age group so that's highly unlikely ... Going to GP for a look is a good idea, and hopefully will be able to reassure you. Hope it's all OK!.

dS is biting tonight. Baaad baby. It's a good job he's endearing.

NorthernChinchilla · 04/07/2012 20:03

Oh heavens LMF; hope you'll get a visit/appointment asap. He's progressed well in general hasn't he? Hope it's just a hiccup.

And definitely STEP AWAY FROM DR GOOGLE Gee; I'm sure it will be fine, and try not to worry between now and you getting DD to the doctor's. We're always here for hand-holding.

I agree Oi- DS had his first chip last weekend, in the partial-BLW that we're doing, although I had to get most of it up off the bar floor (see, that sounds even worse Grin!) But wow at BJR, that's some intake!!

Happy birthday to Kate and 4th July to Tyel. Houseboats are cool, a couple of friends live on them (although they have the far less glamorous/spacious narrowboats). I'm really pleased to hear that about work though- it's good that you're taking it in your stride, and I know what you mean about getting so focussed on it you forget you have a baby! Sorry to hear your Mum is being interesting again....

We got a letter from the hospital today, following DS's examination for his little depression/hole over his coccyx- I know they must do it on all of them, but the letter started;
"Thank-you for referring this charming four month old..." Grin
