No rolling here either. Sometimes I roll her over to show her how it works but she doesn't seem to get it. It's just as well because I change her on top of the dog's crate and often wander off to pee find her clean clothes, so if she learned to roll I'd have to stop doing that. Did the lady at the HV clinic offer to get her child to demonstrate? I'd have been taking that with a pinch of salt.

Yy to words being more damaging, Scarlet. That family in McD's sounds delightful. Hmm Poor little kid.

Don't have any advice, Pet, but hopefully someone who knows better will be along soon.

I let M nap on me as a treat and she slept for 2.5 hours, yay! Now, however, she's really grumpy. Stupid jabs.

Wants3 · 27/06/2012 16:11

I just got the appointment through for Ds first jabs! Neither of us have had appointments for our 6 week check yet, I am sure the midwife said I should get a card through.
biscuits d flipped his body almost all the way over the other day but I wouldn't say he rolled over. Maybe it was a pfb moment for that mum! :)
Still finding bf ing is making me sore so d was checked today for Tongue tie or thrush but given the all clear so we just need to persevere with ensuring a good latch! Easier said than done when he just helps himself in the night when we have both fallen asleep during a feed :)

Biscuitsandtea · 27/06/2012 16:37

Phew, not just me then! Thinking about it I think DS was 4-5 mths and that was at least as soon as the rest of the NCT group.

Wants - maybe call the surgery just in case they've missed your appts? How many weeks is he now?

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 27/06/2012 16:41

Incidentally, do they normally roll front to back or back to front first?

OP posts:
fishcakefoxtrot · 27/06/2012 17:01

Jabs all done here. Not too bad, dd2 had a long sleep in the buggy afterwards while we went to the park. However, like pet I have the calpol on standby!

scarlet dd2 also has a big length of tape over cotton wool and after her first injections I think it got left on the first day and then peeled off in the bath the following day. I was worried about it, too, but dh, who actually took it off, said it came off no bother.

pet did the hv weigh da or did you do it yourself? If it was the hv and they weren't worried then I would try not to worry as long he seems ok otherwise. Will you be able to get him weighed at his next injections? I def wouldn't worry about the length- some are far more enthusiastic stretchers than others in my experience and I reckon that could account for quite a few cms Grin. My old hv added about 5cm to dd's actual length on one occasion! They do seem to grow in fits and starts though.

biscuits dd2 has rolled over a couple of times but more by accident than on purpose so I wouldn't say she is rolling yet, more that I can't leave her anywhere Smile

Dd1 actually stayed in her bed all night on her own last night! I did have to sit with her until she went to sleep (we are doing a sort of gradual retreat). How is your dd doing dream?

Have done lots of walking today and am hopefully going to shred when dh gets home. What a health bunch we are Wink

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 27/06/2012 17:12

I totally squandered my Shredding time by letting M nap on me. Will have to do it when we get home from picking up DH, which won't be until half-past 7 (after we take a side-trip through TK Maxx for me to try on dresses for Gma's party). Am domestic goddess, though - have made yellow Thai curry for tonight. shame about the state of the kitchen and living room and the sheets getting wetter and wetter on the line

Yay for good jabs all round!

Fishcake, hooray for dd1 staying in her own bed!

fishcakefoxtrot · 27/06/2012 17:13

scream hope you got to see some tennis!

biscuits in dd2's red book rolling is on the 6 month checklist, so I think you and ds2 are officially fine Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 27/06/2012 17:29

Whereabouts are the checklists in the red book Fishcake? No doubt they vary wildly from pct to pct!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 27/06/2012 17:30

Epic fail on the Wimbledon front. For various reasons mainly due to DH miscalculations we ended up walking for 45 minutes before we got to the end of the queue for tickets. By this point my hips were killing me, I haven't walked that far since before I was pregnant. The queue itself was long and mostly stationary, so I knew I'd be standing/walking for another 45 minutes at least. I just couldn't do all that with my hips, they're much better than they were but clearly I still have a way to go to get them back to pre-pg levels. So I had to go home :( DH and my Nan are still in the queue at the moment, with DD. They should be fine to get in. V disappointed. I might try again tomorrow, depending on how much my hips hurt overnight.

V sad hearing the awful things some people say to their DC. :( Sometimes in situations like that I feel positively guilty walking away and leaving a defenceless child with such cretinous people. :(

Hooray for all the jabs going well! Such brave mini No Brookers and brave Mama No Brookers as well! Fingers crossed the next round go just as smoothly.

DD has rolled over a couple of times but there's clearly nothing deliberate about it! Grin She's always more shocked than I am to suddenly be on her back! More shocking however is her determination to crawl! Up until today she's just been fruitlessly kicking out her legs while on her tummy, which obviously did nothing. Today however she actually tried using her knees instead, and she had her little hands (still in tight fists) down on the mat in mini-push up position, so by pushing with her knees she was actually able to move forward! Shock She got halfway across the mat before giving up with a howl of frustration! I'm not sure what she was trying to do exactly, but clearly she wasn't getting there! It's bizarrely early for crawling though, and again I don't think it was a conscious action which she could repeat. I think she just happened to have her limbs in a lucky configuration which made her usual flailing motions slightly more effective!

As DD is my first I'm never sure what she's "supposed" to be able to do when, so I've been following this guide as a general indication. So babies will hopefully roll over (deliberately!) around 3 -4 months old.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 27/06/2012 17:36

I did my Shred this morning by the way, so that's still on track - yay! However my Nan brought round Jamaican patties for lunch, which, um, aren't exactly the kind of thing you would expect to see a caveman consuming, ahem, however, , I didn't wish to be rude to my Nan, , so the diet may not be quite on track today. Of course once I'd broken the diet once today I felt perfectly justified in quickly finishing off the 3 or 4 chocolates my friend brought round as a gift for me the other day. Grin Will be back on the diet properly tomorrow!!

fishcakefoxtrot · 27/06/2012 19:03

It's in the section before the weight and measurements section biscuits. my red book is Scottish, though, and is apparently quite different from the welsh one, so the hv tells me.

Sorry no tennis scream but are you saying that you are at home by yourself? Dd with dh? What are you going to do with your evening?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 27/06/2012 19:15

I am indeed home alone Fishcake! I did feel giddy when I got through the door and suddenly realised I could do anything I liked! Grin Of course I immediately ended up just upstairs trying to nap, but still, the limitless possibility was very exciting! Grin

scarletfingernail · 27/06/2012 21:17

Sad Sad Sad

DS has fallen down the stairs this evening. Neither DH or I saw it, but the noise was sickening Sad I was undressing DD for her bath and DH was running her a bath. DS was carrying her used nappy downstairs to put in the bin bless him. It was at least a few stairs, and the noise when he hit the wooden floor at the bottom...Sad

It looks like he might be getting a black eye, but I can't figure out how he's managed that. Apart from that he cried for about 5 mins then said he was ok now. He's had Calpol and gone to bed ok after us keeping him up for almost an hour afterwards just to keep an eye on him. So worried though...

Biscuitsandtea · 27/06/2012 21:35

Oh no Scarlet!!! SadSadSad

Brooking like billio that he's a-ok and it's nothing worse than a shiner.

Sending him lots of get well soon vibes xxx

Soo... Ended up in the pediatric ward on an emergency referral today.

We have come away with a definite reflux diagnosis and some ranitidine to try.

Good work on all the movement brooker babies! A not doing anything but dd1 was really early on everything. I remember being very proud abd very scared!

Brooking for ds to be right as rain scarlet.

scarletfingernail · 27/06/2012 22:15

Gosh Pomme just shows how right you are to keep pushing and not accepting no for an answer. Mother's instinct and all that. So are you relieved to have a diagnosis? Have you tried the rantidine yet? I don't knowe anything about reflux, is it something they grow out of or is it a long term thing?

DreamingOfPeace · 27/06/2012 22:30

Oh, glad you've got a diagnosis and something better than shitty gaviscon pomme. My friends little boy was on gaviscon plus ranitidine plus domperidone and had totally grown out of it by 2. Probably earlier but I can't remember!! I will brook no Argument she's much better soon. The screaming hell we've had with Ben has been bad enough and we didn't make it to the next step of ranitidine.

DreamingOfPeace · 27/06/2012 22:31

Oh scarlet, poor ds. He'll be ok. Xx

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 27/06/2012 22:45

Oh Scarlet your poor DS! When he was being so sweet and helpful as well! No Brooking that there will be no after effects whatsoever. Poor you as well, what a fright! Sending lots of hugs your way!

jaggythistle · 28/06/2012 02:49

brooking for poor scarlet's DS. :( hope he's all ok!

that must have been a bit of a shock getting sent over today pomme! hope the medication helps wee A.

i seem to have been v busy so have just been reading along and not finding time to post. nothing exciting to report here. i am continually amazed by DS2's big wibbly thighs, even though looking at photos DS1 was the same.

have made A List to help with holiday packing. any tips on packing or essential things to take welcome!

PIL coming over tomorrow today with DN who is also 2, she loves DS1 but he is a bit scared of all the cuddles and runs away! she's a bit erm, wilful you might say and doesn't really take no for an answer which is fun.

right R settled ish after change and feed, time to attempt transfer... laters

oh, well done to all the jabbed babies and toddlers, need to make R's next appointment, we're accidentally on holiday the week it should be done Blush.

Biscuitsandtea · 28/06/2012 03:07

Oh Pomme what a day! But just shows how your instincts were bang in. Brooking that the ranitidine does the job. How do you have to administer it to her? Did they say whether bottle or bf would make any difference to improving it? These wee babies have such a hard time don't they. I mean all they have to do in life is sleep and eat and their poor little tummies have such a struggle with the eating that more often than not it makes sleep a struggle, if not the eating too! What were you thinking mother nature?

Exciting re the holiday Jaggy Smile. I've never flown with ds1 so no tips there I'm afraid! At least ds2 doesn't require all that much at the mo Smile.

Good luck with the DN tomorrow Smile

I've become totally obsessed with an app on my phone called SongPop - it's a music quiz and I'm just taken with it Smile. Makes the feeding time go so much quicker Smile

Pomme, so glad you got a diagnosis. Hope it helps. With regard to dairy free and lactose free, I think they're often misused. You can have allergies to cow's milk, but I think it's more common to be intolerant to it due to not having/producing enough (or any?) of the lactase enzyme.

Scream I was the same during pregnancy - it was lovely to be able to gorge on puddings again without worrying! :-) I remember being with my FIL and family for dinner, and think he was a little peterbed that I was no longer his lactose free, pudding limited buddy Grin Hope you have better luck with Wimbledon tickets tomorrow.

All this talk of rolling over.. We've had a few fake roll overs! A few times we have put Iz on her back for tummy only for her to roll back again Shock. After DH and I watched her do it a couple of times in shock and wonder, realised it was something to do with the position of her arm underneath her, being able to rock on it, and then kick herself over! Was Shock for a bit until I realised it wasn't quite right!

Still completely full of cold. Blog. 6 wk appointments today - wants, we had to call to book ours.

Lovely having my mum here though - Iz has really enjoyed it!

Have forgotten everyone else I wanted to reply to after having to take a nappy break mid feed... Will catch up properly at some point! Hope you are all having sleep filled nights.

musicalmrs · 28/06/2012 03:10

Biscuits, I hear SongPop is very popular - is it good? :-) my current night feed app of choice is Sudoku. I think having to think keeps me slightly more awake...

jaggythistle · 28/06/2012 03:23

transfer was a big fail!

DS2 decided that just when i moved his bib aside was the best time to puke, resulting in full change of clothes and sleeping bag. then an extra bit for my top. then he did a wee poo so i had to get back out of bed and change him. Meh. did i mention that he peed on his own sleeve at the first change so had already got clean clothes...

he got a bit worked up after all that so i now have a sleeping bag chest frog to move to his bed. lucky this boy has worked out v cute grins and gurgles.

biscuits luckily we are just driving, so i have a whole big boot to fill. i hope DS2 will be fine, I'm just nervous about keeping fusspot DS1 fed and entertained. think we will be taking a few bribes presents along...

jaggythistle · 28/06/2012 03:25

oops hit post too soon. DS1 did well on the plane for thon wedding abroad last year so we'll see how he does with a big car journey.
