We are in a ferry queue waiting to head off to an island, 3 boys packed in the back, so far no whining! Will be away a week and hopefully check in on you all if my phone works there.

lookout · 07/07/2012 08:14

Out so pleased to hear you had a better, albeit only slightly, night. Fingers crossed for tonight Smile Have a great week away, hope you all have fun.

sp sorry to hear about your rubbish nights. Was last night any better? I think it's a mixture of teeth and WW that have been messing up sleep here. Hope those teeth push through as quickly as possible!

lovin can't believe some parents. Who seriously lets their child manhandle a baby?? I have friends with toddlers, and they do most of them attempt to poke/push and rough up E sometimes, but the mother always stops them! And usually they are mortified!

Hope everyone else is ok, thinking of you and your babies lots atm.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 07/07/2012 09:00

Yes, life has a way of mixing things up just to make you realize the important things.

We have just waved my parents off at the airport, me and S are really on our own now for the next two wks!!! I'm sure we will be fine though... Grin
So sick of this rain! I'm guessing the rest of the country is the same? It's so depressing Sad
How is K bb3? Hope all recovered from op Smile

lookout · 07/07/2012 18:54

Yes, Fuzzzy you're right, it does.

I am fed up of the weather too. Just got a text from my mum in SW France where they live, sun shining waiting for their kebabs to cook in the town square listening to a local band. Envy doesn't even cover it!

Good luck going it alone again. I'm also sure you'll be fine!

Where is everyone? It's like a ghost thread around here...

lovinbeingmum · 07/07/2012 19:49

hi all, silly question but hoping one of you will be able to help me. i've just bought the heinz summer fruit cereal - trying heinz for the first time - and it suggests adding only water to the cereal because it supposedly contains milk powder. is that how all of you prepare it or should i go ahead and make it with milk the same way i've made plum and organix till now?

we're basically having a breakfast strike for the last fortnight. milk has gone down to 4 ounces and cereal which used to be about 3 tbsps has fallen to 2 tsps. someone recommended shifting to heinz because, it seems, its sweeter....have my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning...

i'm very bad with names but hope the babies with tummy and ear infection are feeling better now...

...as for the bad nights, oh boy, it's teething time all right if the sudden shouting in the night is anything to go by. R was having a slightly runny nose as well so used the calpol plug-in last night....worked a dream Grin have I jinxed it for tonight!!

MrsHende · 07/07/2012 19:55

I just add water to the Heinz creamy porridge - and it goes down a storm!

Going off breakfast could very well be a teething thing too, we had that here, as did a lot of the babies at our playgroup.

Very quiet ladies! Hope you are all doing something nice!

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2012 20:07

Lovin - the summer fruit cereal we had u. Iced with water. She hated it (was pretty gross tbh) so back to Heinz creamy porridge when she has it. We do banana cake for breakfast (home made) or crumpet or scotch pancake. (she tried nutella - stolen from me - and loved it Blush)

lovinbeingmum · 07/07/2012 21:32

mamabanana cake - what a wonderful idea!! with sugar, like for us, right?

mrshende think i'll get me the creamy porridge. really hoping it's the teething thing. has gone to sleep after having one ounce...not looking forward to the night Hmm

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2012 21:57

No sugar in banana cake.

Trying to remember recipe as J asleep on me

2oz butter
4oz Flour
4oz banana
3oz Raisins
1egg
Cinnamon 1/4 spoon

I need to check weights as from memory.

Preheat oven 180.

Mixed spice to flour and rub in butter. Stir in raisins.
Mash banana and beat in egg
Add to flour and mix
Pour in greased loaf tin
Turn down oven to 160 and bake for hour (I do about 55 min).

No sugar or salt added. Smile

lovinbeingmum · 07/07/2012 22:28

oh...thank you thank you thank you....it's his ninth birthday on monday...that's going to be his breakfast :) i love R sleeping on me...makes me feel like mama kangaroo

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2012 22:42

Dh just fetching recipe for me, J still fitfully sleeping

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2012 22:49

Right recipe correctly is:

2oz butter
4 oz SR Flour
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
8oz Banana
3oz raisins (I tend use 4oz)
1 egg

Method is: pre heat oven to 180

Grease loaf tin

Mix SR flour and mixed spice. Rub in butter. Stir in raisins

In separate bowl mash banana, beat in egg. Add this to the flour/raisin/butter and stir in well.

Pour into loaf tin. Reduce oven temp to 160. Bake for approx 1hr (I always go under for moister cake). Once cooled wrap to keep fresh.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/07/2012 22:51

Mama kangaroo is a great mnet name, wonder of anyone's nabbed it yet

strawberrypenguin · 07/07/2012 22:51

BB3 hope K is doing well after his op.

We're taking W to see his great grandfather for the first time tomorrow, should be good Smile

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 08/07/2012 10:40

strawberry hope you have nice time today introducing W to great grandfather. J hasn't met hers yet Blush. We are quite rubbish at social stuff tbh.

Better night last night - she went from dream feed 11.30pm to 5.40am, fed and snoozed on me for hour then dh took her. Feeding her now while she's napping and the boys are making birthday cards for me with dh Smile. (I'm not meant to know)

MamaMaiasaura · 08/07/2012 10:51

This is bothering me and I know we said we won't talk about it but;

I am really sorry for getting into discussion about sleeping and that it got heated. I didn't mean to upset anyone and was offering my pov, perhaps too passionately. I feel really bad that Scheh hasn't come back and that I think she's left both this and Fb group SadSadSad. I have pm'd her. I feel like perhaps I should of just kept quiet and I'm sorry. There are so many other bigger things going on that it's not worth falling out over the little things.

sassy34264 · 08/07/2012 12:57

mama i have pm'd you on fb. these things happen. dont beat yourself up. big hugs again.

i have escaped! no dp, no kids- training? shopping? meeting friends?

no- scrapping wallpaper- booooooo!

Grin

someone tell me if murrary wins!

lovinbeingmum · 08/07/2012 13:17

mama had to google maiasaura after your comment...now so curious about your name :)

penguin hope you had a good time. am waiting to introduce R in person to my grandparents too. at the moment whenever they see him online, they keep revisiting my childhood (I was the favourite among all grandchildren Grin)

cheering for murray too!!

lookout · 08/07/2012 13:40

Mama I just typed out a long reply then lost it Angry. The jist of it was what sassy said anyway. You have to live and let live on MN, I hope Sche can see that and come back. You weren't wrong to say what you thought (and nor was she). When's your birthday?

sp hope you have a good day. Take photos!

lovin we have a breakfast refuser too. He'll eat toast and cake (similar to Mama's banana bread only dairy and egg free) but porridge not so much. Am bored of always giving him the same stuff.

If anyone's around, quick advice needed: E usually naps from 12.30-14.30 ish. But today he fell asleep in the car for a few minutes on the way back from swimming. He woke when i got him out, so gave him lunch before putting him to bed. He's been in there an hour now, intermittently crying/whingeing and chattering and I don't know what to do! Get him up? Or leave him til he goes to sleep?

MamaMaiasaura · 08/07/2012 14:43

Thanks lookout and sassy.

lookout what did you do about nap? Its hard when they have a mini power nap and it throws routine. Birthday next weekend, but likely just me and kids as dh prob in Belgium. I have placed choc order Grin

-lovin I chose my nickname from a book called dinosaur stomp, where last time she counted she had 24!! I'd love lots of dc, but 34 a bit much. Maiasaura means good mother I believe. Smile

Saasy boo for wall paper scrapping.

J ate some carpet today and cried when I fished it out Hmm. She'd only just had lunch!

lookout · 08/07/2012 15:22

Mama I b'fed him in the end. He was asleep in 10 secs Wink

MamaMaiasaura · 08/07/2012 15:36

Wink lookout

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 08/07/2012 19:27

Evening all. Just checking in while S has her milk
sp parents are away a cruise round Greek islands. Sounds lovely and 104 degree heat!! My mum was tearful at airport saying bye to S.
I'm hoping the 2 weeks will fly past. I've got a full week of work coming up. Friend was looking for temp nanny while her current one is on annual leave. 4 full days, 7.30am til 6pm. Having to take S with me which I'm a bit Confused about. 2 kids, a baby and a dog Grin. sassy I'll get a look into how you do it! Obv, without the dog!! My brother is taking her a few hrs tomorrow and Wednesday which is a help. Need to do some serious organizing tonight to make sure I don't forget anything. Need to do a lot of cooking as her shelf of dinners in the freezer is nearing empty. Typical!! Angry
Had an incident today too. S was laying on the floor watching the cat. He tried to jump into a box that was on couch but missed it, fell onto S and scratched all her nose Sad. It was pouring with blood, she was screaming, I was crying, it was awful! She was ok though after lots of cuddles. Walking around tesco after tho and I felt like everyone was staring at her/the cut Hmm. Maybe just being paranoid.

Anyway, that's her just about done. Hope everyone's had good weekend. Gutted for andy murray Sad

LittlePebble · 08/07/2012 19:45

mama DH being away on your birthday sucks Sad

Fuzzzy I'm sure no one was looking at S nose it's just paranoid mummy syndrome! Good luck with the nannying.

sassy hope wall stripping went well, not sure I understood your post were you out of the house and doing DIY for someone else?

Scheh please come back no one on here wants to fall out and a healthy difference of opinion is what makes mumsnet great!

So survived first night away from E, but only just! Got so drunk that I thought I was going to die yesterday. I hadn't had more than 2 glasses of wine since I found out I was pregnant and there was free wine (Chablis my favourite) Blush
Did better than DP though who was violently ill Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 08/07/2012 19:50

lp sounds like a good night was had by all!!! Grin I love wine but it gives me the most horrendous hangover Blush
