it's fecking saying something, when you're all making ME look good!

Hmm Shock Grin
sassy34264 · 15/06/2012 13:41

hi trudy i remember you as we were the ones with the littlest gap between babes- 14 months.

sorry you're having a bad time of it. hope the business picks up soon and that you're fully recovered- physically and mentally. x

ipswichwitch · 15/06/2012 13:43

hi trudyla, glad the kids are doing well, but you have been having a rough time of it - hope thats the end of it for you.

hope you have better nights sleep tonight lookout and sassy
N has been settling quickly to sleep, but has been hard to settle when he wakes in the early hours, so for the sake of sanity i've been bringin him into our bed and at least can get a bit more sleep before work. he's still enjoying nursery, he's a sucker for attention though and he gets plenty of that there!!
he's cut right down on his milk intake during the day, prob because he doesn't like bottles, and is feeding pretty well of me when we get home. he is eating more solids now, and actually had a fairly decent tea last night - for some reason he really didnt like tea and has refused to eat anything much for some time. maybe seeing the other babies eating at nursery has spurred him on.

confession time:
we have a 3 second rule in our house for dropped food (in reality way longer than 3 sec!)

have done my fair share of sleeping on towel-covered vomit

due to being too lazy to put pizza boxes in the outside bin, i've stuck them in the oven with the intention of doing it in the morning. have forgotten, then had a sharp reminder when i put the oven on and wonder why the kitchen is full of black smoke!

N fell off the sofa last week, he was fine (bit startled), i was hysterical

strawberrypenguin · 15/06/2012 15:01

Jnice Grin at sickout blinds

Hi Trudy we haven't 'met' I joined late, hope things pick up for you soon.

eng yes I'm going back ft Sad I've played with my hours a little so I will work every Saturday and have a day off in the week instead so we only need 4 days child care. Bit shit for spending time with DH but hopefully it won't be long and I'll be able to find a higher paying job and sort out some better hours.

I never clean my oven either!

The confessions have made my last hour of the horrendous car ride back from Edinburgh more entertaining!

Hey trudyla - sorry you're having a tough time - welcome back!

So confessions:

Towel covered sick/wee - check
Ds falling down stairs - check
Ayse falling out of bed whilst feeding because I was so tired - just managing to catch her by her feet! - check

The girls share milk bottles, dummies, spoons etc as they get the ones closest to them at the time!

I don't have a time rule in the house it could be there all day and they'll still use it! I will clean off spoons etc if they fall on the floor outside but not inside the house. On holiday ds dropped some haribo on a shop floor, I was about the bend down and give it back to him and the shop assistant was like "no, no, bin, bin!!!" Blush

I never get separate spoons for desert just lick off the remnants of mains!

I've never cleaned a toy in my life unless it's covered in something like sick or poo!

If they leak through the nappies (wee or poo) and it's not horrendous, I'll wipe it clean with a baby wipe and do it back up!

I've put the girls in babygros that were too small with their feet dangling out the ends because I was too lazy to go upstairs and get them a bigger size!

Ds never had jars or pouches, the girls have had a lot of ellas pouches!

Dry shampoo is my best friend

I have my hair cut and coloured twice a year. (regardless of babies).

There are so many more, it's scary!

BB3 · 15/06/2012 16:35

Just to clarify I wipe clean the vest / outfit and do it back up after leaks not the nappy itself!!!! BlushGrin

LittlePebble · 15/06/2012 17:16

Trudyla welcome back, sorry things haven't been great hope you're on the mend and business picks up.

E is poorly and I'm coming down with it so not much fun in our house, sleep is a distant memory Sad

But confessions are cheering me up!

Here are mine:
Sleeping on sick - yes
Spoon / dummy on floor - yes

E is permanently covered in dog hair, I Hoover rug in living room but whatever I do he has loads of hairs round his mouth.

I caught him eating the dog chew yesterday Blush

The dog licks him A LOT and I don't always clean him afterwards

On plane on way back from Italy while trying to put jumper over my head E fell off my lap, managed to catch an ankle even though I couldn't see and DP said his nose skimmed the floor it was so close Blush

For first few days kept forgetting I needed to change his nappy Blush

After a bad run of nights I have given him calpol before bed to preempt the waking (is that drugging your child to sleep?) BlushBlush

LittlePebble · 15/06/2012 17:17

Oh and I also swore he wouldn't have a dummy......Blush

lookout · 15/06/2012 18:31

Hi all, thanks for the well wishes. In spite of another early wake up (I feel your pain Jnice and also loved the sickout blindsGrin) I've had a not too bad day. E is shouting and screaming a lot recently, seems to have found his voice big time!

I have been reading all your posts but sorry for not replying to them all, so tired/busy/lazy Blush

Hi tango and trudyla

Confessions: I am a clean freak and I desperately and seriously envy all of you who can leave stuff be. I kill myself trying to keep the house and kids clean and tidy and wish I wasn't so obsessed about it. I say don't be ashamed of your confessions, be proud! It means you were spending your time on more important stuff MN Grin

Just wondering is anyone still ebf with no immediate plans to stop? Am beginning to feel unusual when people seem surprised I'm still feeding at 8 months Hmm

lookout · 15/06/2012 18:32

No, have just thought of a confession. E fell off the bed on my watch last week. Twice.

Bad bad mother...

PenguinArmy · 15/06/2012 19:04

i have no intentions of stopping, not that I would have a choice in the matter anyway.

DD stopped at 13/14 months and I felt guilty and horrible that it ended a lot sooner than I wanted.

Trudyla · 15/06/2012 19:27

Thanks for the welcome back all.

Am loving the confessions and kept nodding at most of them. Bathing DD is such a battle that I always wonder why on earth people do it every day.

Oh and oven cleaning - schmoven cleaning Grin

We're going to visit SIL and MIL tomorrow for a week so I'll only have my Ipad. Hope I can still keep up with the thread. Bit nervous about the flight and about being there without conveniences like sickout blinds Grin and such.

My confession is that F was rolling around on the floor last week and started coughing and I was so worried that he had breathed in too much dust cos I hadn't hoovered in so long. Did it straight away then.

BB3 Good job you clarified about the nappy cos I was just thinking Ewww and Really? Shock Grin

DD is whistling in her cot. She's been in bed for half an hour and won't shut up. It's very entertaining listening to her through the monitor.

sassy34264 · 15/06/2012 20:19

lookout if your a bad mother with 2 falls off the bed, what does that make the rest of us! Grin

3 out of 4 of mine have tumbled off the side. i might just take isobel up and push her off, so she doesnt miss out on the experience. Wink

Engelsmeisje · 15/06/2012 20:22

Grin sassy!

welcome back trudy

lookout · 15/06/2012 20:47

sassy lol Grin

My turn for a rant now and I've had a few glasses of rose. First time in a while that dh and I have been able to sit down for dinner by ourselves. I make sole goujons with an amazeballs beer batter from scratch and a thai dipping sauce with stir fired noodles and zoodles and glasses of wine and he comes in with a face like death 'I've been exercising and dieting the last thing I want is fried stuff' Angry. I have made a huge bloody effort to make an interesting and different dinner and he complains. He can bloody well cook for himself tomorrow.

And breathe.

Jnice · 15/06/2012 21:01

These confessions are great! Sassy - you make me laugh!

It's quite cathartic to let this stuff out Wink

One more I remembered. Leo had done many poos out and we ran out of nappies (cloth). I had pocket nappies so had to wipe away the poo then use a couple of cloth wipes to line it and put it back on his bum until we got home (boke!).

Jnice · 15/06/2012 21:06

lookout xpost - Grrr at your DH! Can come for dinner instead?

lookout · 15/06/2012 21:15

Yes, Jnice as long as you are not impartial to a bit of fried stuff and some wine, you are welcome any time you like Grin

Now I feel like i have to defend him, he did just come and apologise so now feel like I have to let him off Angry

sassy34264 · 15/06/2012 21:25

god lookout im hiding this thread. if my dp sees what you cooked, he'll leave me for sure!

he's been away at work since wed morning. he got back after 7pm, after travelling just over 2 hours from birmingham and i sent him this text about 6pm

'im waiting for you to get home before i have tea, get pizzas, coke and vodka'

hehehe.

he even had to put it all on and make salad (token gesture at healthy) himself. as i was putting twins to bed.

i think i must be delusional, cos i still think he's lucky to have me! Grin

lookout · 15/06/2012 21:27

sassy you have twins. You are allowed to be any way you like and he should still lick your feet Grin

sassy34264 · 15/06/2012 21:31

amen Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 15/06/2012 21:32

Just caught up with everything. My face is like this GrinGrinGrinGrin. That was funny!!!
lp yes! S seems to always have cat hair on her! I've no idea where is all comes from!!

Caught her today in the kitchen with her hands in the cats food bowl ready to have a feast. Bleugh!!!

Who mentioned wine...? I'm off to find some in the cupboard. Could go a glass now Smile

sassy34264 · 15/06/2012 21:41

jnice ive been in the situation of having no spare clothes for dd1 and she wet herself and i had to fashion my coat to try and cover her bits!

trust me, i could fill this thread with all the daft stuff ive done.

sometimes i think the difference is whether you think you are rubbish parent/person or that you are soooooo boringly normal and not unique at all cos every other person has done the exact same thing. Grin

i also sometimes think its a personality trait too. some just put too much pressure on themselves to be perfect. some ie me find it to exhausting to try to reach an impossible ideal and dont even try.

case in point- treasure hunt night at the bank i worked for years ago hsbc
groups of teams. loads. prize for 1st, prize for last. i decided that the chance of us winning was rather slim, so i sold some of our answers to the most competitive team, bought us all drinks got pissed for free and still won a booby prize.

being perfect the best isnt always the best option. Wink

pinkpainter · 15/06/2012 21:44

I've just finished reading 'the no cry nap solution' so I think I can help on the 40 minute sleep thing. Is it always almost exactly 40 mins? This is probably the length of a sleep cycle, they go from light sleep to heavy etc and at this time come out of deep sleep and can wake up if they don't begin the cycle again.
I always joked that we could use M as a half an hour timer as this is the time she wakes up after napping, if she goes longer than 30 mins she will be asleep for ages but this is very unusual.
We had an absolutely terrible time with her during the jubilee weekend, she was waking at least every hour and I felt terrible - very upset, faint, dizzy - just totally miserable. She's back to waking just a couple of times a night and I think it's because we have really dramatically increased the amount she is eating. I really wanted to do BLW but she's now getting loads of puree with baby rice mixed in to bulk it up, also we've tried to put her down in her cot during the day as much as possible so she gets used to self settling, and I put an item of my worn clothing in there with her. Hope this info helps some of you struggling with bad nights. Oh - and also DH has been settling her if she wakes during the night to break the cycle of her wanting to feed from me every time she wakes up.

Trudyla · 15/06/2012 21:55

yy to cat hair on baby and in nappy

Just wanted to say that I'm loving all the FB piccies. Too many to comment. I'm also still trying to figure out who is who on FB. Wasn't there a document in the beginning? Is that still going and updated?
