New thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The possessive thing is a lot worse in 50 shades than twilight! I found the twilight relationship ok as I reconciled Edwards possession as being overprotective which gets a LOT better after bella is changed. By the end of breaking dawn it's bella who's protecting everyone else!

The only time I get to read now is in bed so haven't slept much for 3 days and it's starting to catch up :(

PenguinArmy · 17/06/2012 09:03

Last night was horrible here, maybe every 30 mins on average. even when rocking him he was incredibly unsettled :( I didn't get off to sleep until 1.

pebble hope thingss carry on improving and glad the trip is merely just postponed.

lookout how are you doing today?

I did Nevis a few years ago, there is another Munro just behind it so you can combine the two by walking the CMD arete between them and then come down the main path. The tourist way is a easy route, just I guess a longer day than most expect. In summer you get the typical people going up in trainers and it being easy is what can make it dangerous. We did it in April, the weather at the bottom was lovely but tops were in the snowline and cloud. There was a minus wind chill at the top and there were people with children in not even waterproof's. I guess that because they made it so far they were determined to go all the way. On the plus side that side of the mountain is generally so busy that you can just follow the crowds if visibilty is a bit rough. It was odd as we had ony seen one other group and when he hit the Nevis peak suddeny it was crowded. Tourists also seem to get upset when you overtake them and bock your way Grin whereas more experienced people let you past before you even have to make yourself known. Not that i am a face paced walker myself, I'd count myself as average paced. I should be doing a few mountains in October hopefully.

lookout · 17/06/2012 09:13

I've managed to avoid the twilights after having been sucked into the potters when I swore I wouldn't Grin. However I am quite tempted by Hunger Games. Anyone read them? I'm reading some Jo Nesbo books that my dad lent me and loving them. I do love a good intrigue Grin

Thanks for all the messages. Yesterday was a really hard day, sometimes it creeps up on you when you're not prepared for it. But today's a new day and the sun is shining here, so far!

ips glad to hear the food thing is getting better. I'm sure being at nursery and seeing other children eat helps. Long may it continue! Still not much luck here, although dh did all the food yesterday and ended up mixing everything with soya yogurt and feeding him with no trouble Hmm. Not sure if I think this is the way to go or not - he's eating because it tastes of yogurt, how long do we mix everything with yogrt in order for him to eat it??!! Sorry to hear there's poorliness at your house Sad hope he gets better soon.

TB I can't remember what I've jsut read either, and end up having to scroll up and down the page to re-read and then reply!

LP Hope you are feeling better today. I love that calpol became a verb in your message Grin But then I am sad and interested in language and how it develops. I think signing fb messages with MN names for a while would help Smile Me anyway!

Am impressed by the mountain climbers. I can barely be arsed to walk to the shops Grin

sche hooray for crawling! This will keep you busy now haha!

Penelope1980 · 17/06/2012 09:43

I read all the Jo Nesbo's when heavily pregnant so now they remind me of waddling around the house Grin I really liked them. Liked the Hunger Games too. I am a massive reader though, and always have a book on the go.

Hope today is better lookout.

Today A pulled himself up against the glass door to a standing position from a sitting position! He looked pretty proud of himself too.

lookout · 17/06/2012 10:09

Pen I am a big reader too Smile Have a lovely pile next to my bed of new Peter James and Lee Child, as well as Sister and Drive which dh got me after we loved the film. Plus am halfway through the Leopard. I finished an OU course on 19th C literature last year which I loved but it is nice reading trash and easy stuff again!

MyManIsNowChristianGrey · 17/06/2012 10:28

I like the idea of signing FB with MN names is good also I only really know a few, the rest I think of as separate people iykwim?

Need to get this housework done before H gets back from glencoe and CBA! just want to snuggle up on couch with 50 shades and big cup of tea

Fingerpainting on cards all done now though Grin

CheshireDing · 17/06/2012 20:24

Need to go back and read what everyone has been up to today but in the meantime can anyone recommend a good plate with suction?

All the ones I keep looking at the reviews say they don't stick to plastic and glass :( I just need one for the holiday to stick on the highchair (as I don't really want to put the food directly on the highchair in a hotel they might think I am a bit feral)

PenguinArmy · 17/06/2012 20:40

I have always just put food straight on highchair or in some cases table when out and about with DD

CheshireDing · 17/06/2012 21:40

I do too usually Penguin but I am thinking that at some point on holiday she is likely to end up having something a bit messy (e.g. curry etc) and whilst I normally just slap it on the highchair at home it might not look so good in a hotel Grin

PenguinArmy · 17/06/2012 21:48

I figure if it is messy, it is going to be messy regardless Grin, I always found at buffet places it was quite easy to get cleaner foods.

anyway I'm sure someone will be along soon with a helpful suggestion.

DS was very unsettled again today but has slept for nearly two hours tonight. I thought maybe it was a mobility milestone, he can now commando crawl across the bed but we couldn't even get him to sleep at lunch, he took about 2 hours tonight before we could put him down. hopefully he is be easier to settle tonight even if he wakes hourly later on, that will make a massive difference to us.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 17/06/2012 22:09

cheshire I'm sure you can get a bowl from ikea that has suction on the bottom. I think we had them in the nursery. They are green and have a frog face. I'll see if I can find them online

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 17/06/2012 22:12

www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40084861/

On phone so can't link properly, but look under children's tableware. Only £2.50 and you get bowl, cup, spoon and bib!!

TallyBear · 17/06/2012 22:44

That set looks so cool. I need some more of the bib/aprons from ikea (another confession, sometimes they don't get washed in time and we have to use a dirty one!) so might get that too.

Cheshire We got this: www.amazon.co.uk/Summer-Infant-Tiny-Diner-Green/dp/B002B55AC0/ref=pd_sim_by_1 but not actually used it yet as still using the snug chair on the table! Not got round to ordering the high chair yet.

We are still giving Seb cooled boiled water to drink, do you think we can get away with non-boiled water?

Seb had raspberries for the first time today. I was holding it for him; he took one bite and then practically launched himself at the rest! It disappeared in about two bites! Smile I'm inspired by Sassy giving loads of fruit instead of chocolate to her kids. Might see how long I can keep that one up.

MyManIsNowChristianGrey · 18/06/2012 01:55

I don't boil Ms water haven't since she turned 7 months.
I've been meaning to order that placemat too, we go away next Monday do u think it would arrive on time?

I'm just spoon feeding purées so sorry no advice for suction plates.

Outnumbered4to1 · 18/06/2012 06:57

I'm impressed by anyone who manages to pick up a boo at the moment. None of that happening here at the moment.

Leo is playing games with me. We've had some awful evenings where he's been awake unt gone 10, leading me back to thoughts of sleep training. As soon as I make the plans he goes down like an angel at 7.30 Hmm

Is he psychic or just really smart?

(Jnice)

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 18/06/2012 09:41

Morning all Smile
I've been in such a cleaning mood all weekend Hmm. Done 3 loads of washing last night and got another in just now! The sun is out so hoping to get it all out in the garden to dry. This morning ive cleaned the bedroom windows, sorted and put away all of S clothes and dusted all her bedroom. Do not have a clue where this burst of energy has come from as I've been feeling shit recently. Think seeing blue sky this morning has lifted my mood!
Got major case of pmt yesterday. Was almost in tears thinking that S will be 1 in a matter of months! I had to pull myself together as I could feel the tears starting Blush. Goodness knows what I'll be like on the day! Just curious, but has anyone given first birthdays much thought? What did you ladies with older children do for theirs? I've not got many friends with babies so no doubt will just be a small gathering of friends/family. Where do you even start?!
4to1 like the new name! L sounds like he is keeping you on your toes!!
pa hope you had a better night last night

Sorry iv missed everyone else. Had a quick read of thread last night so my mind is now blank.
Have a good Monday everyone

sassy34264 · 18/06/2012 12:28

cheshire ive yet to find a suction plate that the little buggers couldnt pull off! have seen the ikea frog one, but didnt buy it- so cant comment.

out can i refer to you as this for quickness?

ive has 3 absolute shit nights in a row! argh.

fri night eva wouldnt go to sleep till 12.30am, sat night 1.30am and so i cruelly exhausted her sun with vvv short naps and she went down with us at 10.30pm. slept all night until 7.30 this morning. hooray you might think- no.

jacob decided 3am is the new 7am. christ even a newborn doesnt do that to you. finally got him to drop off on me on the couch at 5.20am. i was sooooo cold though, that i decided to leave him on me and get in bed. as soon as he saw dp in bed, alet.com, shouting and pointing dadee dadee. so back downstairs we went- give up and put cartoons on. groan.

BOGEYED.CO.UK might be my namechange. Grin

LittlePebble · 18/06/2012 13:44

PA hope you had a better night?

Sassy please don't tell me stories of toddlers being up all night Shock Wink I keep kidding telling myself this will all get better by the time he's one...

Fuzzzy we'll be in Italy for the wedding when Eli turns one, so all the family will be there. It's made it a very easy party plan for me.

Thanks everyone for asking, Eli is on the mend, still croaky and has sore throat but eating a bit and having milk again (and more importantly sleeping a bit more), I've still got his bug though and feel rough.

On a positive note not sure if I posted on here about the nausea I've been having on and off for six weeks, doctor has diagnosed gastro enteritis (sp?) apparently it's quite common in new mums in the first year as its caused by lack of sleep, stress, missing meals and no routine! Have tablets now so hopefully I'll start to feel a bit better Smile
Eli is crawling forwards now and the poor dog is getting no respite. Think I'm going to have to put a stair gate up to protect her he keeps trying to pull himself up to standing using her fur Grin

MyManIsNowChristianGrey · 18/06/2012 15:06

fuzzy your welcome to come do my house, it looks like a bomb has hit it!
For C's 1st birthday we ha. BBQ at the house and turned out to be quite expensive. (see last thread) for Ms first birthday we'll probably just have some tea and cake at the granny's houses.
So sorry I forgot to book westlife tickets, but they are still available, would you rather cineworld or breahead?

sassy sorry you've had a shit few nights, I always think its harder dealing with toddlers through the night as you don't expect them to get up IYKWIM.

CheshireDing · 18/06/2012 15:47

I'm with pebble you are supposed to be telling us NICE things after they turn 1 Sassy, you know "they sleep for 15 hours straight", "they do their own washing", that kind of thing.

Is it too soon to sign them up for boarding school? Grin

Pebble I started to read your thread thinking you were going to say you are pregnant! I think you need cake. P keeps crawling towards the dog but I won't let her touch him after the story in the paper of a 1 year old doing the same thing the other month. Our dog is a big softly but I know he would get frightened if she pulled his fur (although having said that she just pulled some of his beard out whilst she was in the sling about an hour ago!)

Hope you start to feel better and E sleeps better, fx.

Fuzzzy that plate set looks good, but they don't deliver so will have to go to Ikea

I had a look at the mat too Tally I reckon P would just eat that though, she tries to eat the computer mouse.

I have a voucher for a free taster session at Water Babies so will try and put it on fb and anyone can print it off if they want to use it.

CheshireDing · 18/06/2012 17:36

Hmm slightly suspicious I have broken our fb page. I tried to put the Wonder Weeks docus all in one folder to put on to fb but it wouldn't let me, so did them all separately but it will let me put the last 3 on.

May get DH to investigate as he is a techy geek.

Sorry if I have broken in temporarily :(

CheshireDing · 18/06/2012 17:36

"broken it", obviously I have not "breaking in"

PenguinArmy · 18/06/2012 19:08

sassy i will join you in the tired corner, part of my issue is now i have not gone to sleep before 12/1am in ages i am appear unable to.

first birthday, we got dd a big bouncy ball, some bubbles and made a cake. there was enough family to buy her things plus Christmas won't be that far away. Luckily we weren't near family last year so we headed to the beach with a few other families that we knew. was really nice and relaxed. This year I think we'll let the two famlies descend for the day but doubt we'll do anything more than that.

Engelsmeisje · 18/06/2012 19:39

well done on so much cleaning fuzzzy

am trying to get fit and moving a bit more every day so went for a 30 minute walk with M in the sunshine after dinner. makes me feel better when I've been stuck indoors all day. Smile

lookout · 18/06/2012 19:41

I got 5 hours sleep in a row last night! I am still knackered though Grin. I think it's gonna take a month of nights like last night to get me back to functioning properly, so can I join you in the tired corner too?

Ches thanks for the docs on fb, they are fascinating! So much easier to see the sleepless nights/fussiness as part of a 'mental leap'! So I will be spying on E and watching him categorising!

TB I was gonn ask that question about water, so thank you! I guess we can probably stop. In any case with the amount of stuff they pick up off the floor and put in their mouths, I would have thought water would be the least of our worries especially after you lot and your confessions Grin

LP sorry to hear about the gastro, that sucks! At least you've got something for it though, and hopefully it'll get better soon.

Ds1 first birthday we had a few NCT mums and their babies round and just sat them on the floor with balloons. Will just do family this year probably although I'm not sure who's actually gonna be around (bro in Vietnam by then, parents and in-laws in France). Might just be us then Grin

Yesterday sucked as well. I was so tired I kept crying and poor dh had a shit Father's Day. He spent the whole day looking after me! He has made me let him help me with household chores though, so I guess that's good. Today he got up early (he starts work late so doesnt' usually get out of bed til 8) to help me and we had everything done before the school run which meant I could relax the rest of the day. He can be lovely!
