White trousers + baby = pooey mess Sad why haven't I learnt to bring a change of clothes for me as well?!?!

aethelfleda · 01/06/2012 16:03

Oh no misree, that's bad luck! (though I must confess have never bothered with spares for me apart from the occsional change in the car boot if going to something posh like a wedding.)

We now have bunting on our house. I'm not sure whether I'm being patriotic, pretentious upper middle class, or chav central. It's home-made so probably the middle option. DDs went to a nice school picnic party where lots of parents came in to eat lunch on the school field. dD2 is covered in facepaint and DD1 has a fetching plastic Union Flag pork-pie hat while we stuff icepops (and they chill out in front of cBBc cos all the excitement is tiring).

Oh, and DS has just made exploding noises. The glamour.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 01/06/2012 16:13

Bad Luck MissRee One thing I always make sure I have a change of, is clothes!

We have created bunting ourselves and DD1 is colouring them in.

I'm looking forward to going out tonight. DP & I are going to taste and choose the menu for the wedding. Need some child-free time as Sky has done non-stop whining today at i'm gradually losing my patience, mainly due to tiredness :(

BJR · 01/06/2012 16:59

So was just catching up with the thread and read your post about white trousers MissRee, then realised DS was suspiciously quiet. I urned round to check on him in his door bouncer thing to find him standing in a puddle of poo with a big grin on his face. I have done a lot of scrubbing but i don't think my carpet is ever going to be the same. Babies are charming creatures :o

MissRee · 01/06/2012 17:27

Grin had to spread the poomageddon love!

We've just had 45 minutes of inconsolable screaming. It's as if she's in pain but she's been fine all day. The exploding poo was rather liquid but no mucous and looked normal colour. Could be tummy upset I guess Sad

HoneyLovesCake · 01/06/2012 17:29

Really want to have all three pregnancies so I was thinking just one for my next & then twins for my last one Grin I've told OH this so if it works out he'll think I'm some kind of witch. Can you BF triplets? Ideally I don't think I want more newborns than I have boobs :)

MissRee · 01/06/2012 18:06

We had the conversation about antihistamines whilst BF but are any safe during pregnancy? A friend of mine is suffering but was told by a pharmacist that only herbal remedies are ok... anyone know if that's right

msbuggywinkle · 01/06/2012 18:42

honey I've been bfing for 5 years and 10mths so far, quite likely to go another three or four years. I meant to add this on here last week, DD1 has un-weaned and has been nursing once/twice a day for the last fortnight! Tis amazing that she hasn't lost her latch.

I am packed and ready, leaving early tomorrow and I can't wait! Feral roaming children in field while adults drink wine and chat! Yay!

MissRee · 01/06/2012 18:57

Forgot to mention - dads operation went well. They've pinned the spine with hinged bracket type things and taken a bit off the disc below. He's recovering quite well but is leaking quite a lot of spinal fluid. He had an xray today to see what's going o. They will see how he is tomorrow before deciding whether or not to operate again to try and stop the leaking. He's been suck today as well but that could just be all the painkillers.

aethelfleda · 01/06/2012 19:38

Here's a link for your friend misree

antihistamines in pregnancy

According to that, Loratadine is ok all the way through but a newer drug, it is only once a day so more convenient,, piriton is ok except right at the end of pregnancy but has been around for years and is considered pretty safe stuff as long as not taken continuously.

NorthernChinchilla · 01/06/2012 20:29

Lots to catch up on, but just a quickie as I'm about to Skype my Mum, and as DP is crap at measuring cooking times, dinner has so far been a small glass of the cooking wine and a taste of the spag bol.
To declare it not ready

Bagsie me the triplets though, have been dreaming about that as I stalk unsuspecting women with prams wanting to snaffle their children even though I know the first year must be hell Grin!

OiMissus · 01/06/2012 20:50

Sssh! I'm bagsie-ing twins next time.
Had some newborn cuddles today. Mum had a pretty bad birth with forceps. She's been stitched up and has a knot tied in the stitches on her bum. She's in awful pain. Can anyone offer some advice?
On the plus side she's breast feeding really well, and her baby is lovely and healthy (born 9lb 6oz)

mopsytop · 01/06/2012 20:55

Right, at the risk of outing myself (I am paranoid times a zillion about Internet safety!!! Yes, crazy I know!), I am a triplet. honey, realistically not possible to bf three, especially if you already have other kids. Statistically, likelihood of sth going wrong massively higher. We three were born lucky I reckon, never a thing wrong with any of us (obligatory several week stint in incubators of course but just to get us bigger really) and all very fortunate in terms of learning etc but my sis is a clinical SLT and she sees loads of multiple birth kids with speech and/or learning difficulties. She says now that she thinks we are just so very lucky to all be so healthy etc. & that it is actually quite rare for trips. So I am not sure I'd be too thrilled to have three at once. Also the being pregnant part, according to mum, is v v v difficult. She had three others under the age of six, so it must have been so exhausting. She thought she was having twins and she thought they were dead. She was so relieved when we were born healthy she didn't even blink an eyelid that it was three instead of two!! But it sounds utterly exhausting. Having said that, it was fab for us! Totally fabulous!

HoneyLovesCake · 01/06/2012 21:08

Brings back memories Oi :( If she's lucky & doesn't metabolise codeine so fast it knocks out her & her babies then it's probably her best bet. Nothing touched the pain from my episiotomy until I took codeine but I only took the one dose as I couldn't wake/feed Rocco for hours afterwards. If she's unlucky then sniffing his head helped keep my spirits up when all else failed. On the bright side as long as her stitches stay put it shouldn't drag on too long or so I've heard. Make sure she lets her GP or MW know about the pain though...I thought I was being a wuss & didn't mention anything for ages [hormonal idiot emoticon]

Oooh, mopsy a RL triplet! How exciting, I've never met anyone who's shared a womb before LOL. I think twins are the most I'd want really & even that would be a lot! Rocco's become very shouty lately...imagine 2 or 3 of them all shouting nonsensically at you Shock Maybe DP will just relent & let me have 4 or 5, preferably 5, then I can space them out a bit.

MissRee · 01/06/2012 22:02

I forgot to mention that I finally got round to going to the docs yesterday for the bleeding and pain. She's given me the pill (to try and thin down the womb lining) and has referred me for a scan which probably wont come through until I'm back at work

seven77 · 01/06/2012 22:21

msb sounds like a great weekend, hope you get good weather.

oi I've no experience of stitches thankfully but a few drops of lavender oil in the bath to aid healing can't do any harm.

I'd have loved twins, not now though as 4 children sounds a bit crazy :o. I was convinced I was having twins before my first scan with Eva.

Whatever the sleepy virus Eva had was DSnow has. He's been lounging on the sofa all day and has barely eaten. He has a temp of 39 degrees and was so exhausted he went to bed at 6pm :(

hawthers · 01/06/2012 22:25

Managed to get my hair done on wed and feel like a new blonde woman. F came with me and hung out, fed, slept,.sat on my lap while I had my hair cut, then fed and hung out some more and generally charmed all the hairdressers. Total time for cut and colour = 3.30 hrs! Good one f.

Also he is sleeping loads better. don't know if it was a growth spurt or not but I've been focused in getting regular naps in and since doing that he is doing 8 - 3/4 ish totally doable!

Would love another dc. Feel very broody (but not right away) as I would love to be pg again and just don't feel like I'm done yet. But both DH and DM have said firmly that they don't think they can face going through.it again. After DS1's 4 months in the nicu and DS2's meningitis, am I foolish to want a third? Plus we had a 25% chance of ds1's issues reoccuring with DS2. As it didn't happen with DS2, do the odds go down for a potential dc3? Need to speak to our consultant before working on DH and DM. Planning a 3 year gap so got a while to convince them!

Rashkakeller · 01/06/2012 22:32

Oi I had forceps with dd and fully sympathise with your friend. Seriously? I preferred the c section recovery! Although, if I did have a 3rd, which I probably won't, I would go for a vaginal birth again if able and hope to avoid assistance! I would recommend plenty of painkillers, take them regularly even if she starts to feel better, sit on a doughnut shaped cushion, rest up as much as poss but try to keep mobile as well iyswim and baths with lavender drops in or salt was suggested to me but not sure if that does actually do anything!

Talking of pain, I've been battling a headache all day, it's winning so I'm off to my pit - night night

Kitty5824 · 01/06/2012 22:41

Oi the only thing I can remember is being very relieved my mum was staying with us over Xmas as she was my tablet monitor and made sure I was taking my Diclaphenic (sp?), paracemtamol and iron tablets at the appropriate times.

Sleep deprivation meant I lost track until I started to get sore, by which time it feels like ages before the painkillers start kicking in again!!

A warm bath or shower at least once a day helps, and would suggest she gets the MW to have a look - I had some of mine "snipped" as they were getting really uncomfortable by day 4 or 5.

I now have a dead bird free, sparkly, bunting decked conservatory ready for Sunday. Just the rest of the house to go now....

seven77 · 01/06/2012 22:46

hawthers when I asked my GP about the recurrent risk of pre-eclampsia I was told it decreases with each pregnancy so it could work the same?
