Bloody typical, having some friends over this morning, was hoping to set the girls up with the paddling pool etc but its peeing it down! now they'll get out every toy known to man and ruin my tidy house

OiMissus · 31/05/2012 09:33

That'll teach you. Next time you have coke or pepsi (other brands are available) in the evening, you must add a dashette of vodka. :)
Tis raining here this morning too. I'm working from mum and dad's spare bedroom study. Boi is downstairs being spoilt. :)
The olympic torch is coming near us between 5:30 and 6:30pm so we're planning to walk over and give them a hearty patriotic cheer, I hope the sun comes out before then.

LittleMissFlustered · 31/05/2012 12:48

The torch will be being stolen wandering through my city in a couple of weeks. We're going to try to catch a glimpse:)

Kitty5824 · 31/05/2012 12:57

The torch is going right past my house on the 2nd July! Bet it's raining then too! Grin

HoneyLovesCake · 31/05/2012 12:57

Thanks seven I'm feeling less worried after speaking to FIL's DP. I know what to look for & I'm hoping he's worm-free.

Enjoy yourself Oi but be aware you will end up on youtube if you're anywhere near the torch >_<

Feeling frazzled after trying 3 different back carries with my woven a sling this morning & all I have to show for it is a moody sweaty baby sat on my knee :( I could do this a month ago but he'as turned into a leg-straightening-hair-pulling-shouty-wriggle-bum & is impossible to wrap. I need my hands free today & he won't nap. Too early for Wine?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/05/2012 13:05

Sorry for the mememe post but I'm shattered and need to make my home sparkle for Saturday. The Queen if Clean my nan is coming over to visit the house for the first time since we've had the house which is 5 years.

Ironing is done
Washing on line
Bottles sterilised
Lunch made

Still to do:
Polish in the glass cabinet
Hoover & polish from top to bottom
Scrub bathroom - ESP loo
Flash the kitchen
Tidy Sky's room
Tidy our room
Keep conservatory tidy
Um.....

Kitty5824 · 31/05/2012 13:09

Oh DSM I feel your pain, we're having a housewarming/Jubilee party on Sunday and it now looks like it is going to rain so having spent the last 5 days making the garden look nice I now need to turn my attention to the house and work out how 20 odd people and 6 kids under 7 (3 under 6 months) are going to fit in the house.

Anyone want to bet who will be panic buying a gazeebo at the weekend.....

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/05/2012 13:13

Kitty Thankfully it's not raining here yet hopefully it'll be nice weather for you at weekend!

OiMissus · 31/05/2012 13:32

Is the glass cabinet special or a heirloom dsm? If not, I say E-bay! It sounds like too much dusting to me!
I'm going to start putting more stuff in boxes ready for our move. Grin and I think i will stop all cleaning, because I don't care anymore!
Actually, that's a terrible lie, we've got family visiting over the weekend, so I'll be running around tonight making everything nice and hiding the mess in boxes.
It's still chucking it down here. :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/05/2012 13:35

Oi The glass cabinet is something DP & I brought when we redecorated the living room last year. However, it's got all DP crappy ornaments in! He has never once dusted it either - I don't think he even knows where the dusters & polish is!

Just chuck everything in boxes and stack neatly and your done Grin

BeeMyBaby · 31/05/2012 15:12

trying really hard to keep up with the thread!

Oi I'm impressed you haven't cut your DS's hair yet, we have been clipping DD2s back for a couple of weeks otherwise it gets in her eyes so not what I'd be doing if she was a boy!

Horrible journey to inlaws, missed connection flight in london so had to travel from gatwick to heathrow on bus with all our luggage (8 bags and two pushchairs) on national express bus, with change over at terminal 5 to 4, and even though we landed just after 9, we only just managed to make our 3pm flight.

BLW is not going great, MIL seems to think its absurd and tried to sneak DD2 a spoonful of salty puree (which DD2 faithfully toungue thrust back out).

DD2 also is like a newborn feeding every 45mins followed by moaning followed by sleeping, but read about honey's DS growth spurt so really hoping its that and not the heat!

msbuggywinkle · 31/05/2012 15:47

honey which carries have you tried? I find a rucksack, but the wrap crossed over one of their legs and under the other to be the fastest and most wriggle-proof back carry not that Miri will tolerate back carries

dsm can you just take your DDs out when you're done to keep it tidy? I loathe my MIL coming round as she is funny about tidiness so I know how you feel!

kitty I'm with you doing an anti-rain dance, we are camping this weekend!

Got Miri weighed this morning, she is 16lb14 now and is managing to move up the centiles...her size still amazes me, she will have caught up to DD2 by the time she is 1 at this rate!

I am putting off packing by list writing. I am very organised, but not at all packed. Bob help them, I have organised the camp for 14 other families!

OiMissus · 31/05/2012 16:01

Bee I'm not allowed to cut his hair, honey said so.
dsm my DH moved in with 4 bin liners of socks, and a couple of boxes of sports and assorted trophies. The socks were culled, but I allowed him to keep the trophies out of sight. they are still in their boxes. :)
I once went out with a bloke who had two Royal Doulton figurines in his house - his bachelor pad. He knew no better. He thought that's what you had in a house. he was from yorkshire though. (ha ha sorry lmf and Air! - i think you're both from the other side, aren't you?) Grin
Oh good luck msbuggy, I hope the weather is nice for your camping escapade. DH thinks we won't be going camping now that we have BOi. How very silly he is! Right, one last burst of work before we go out looking for a torch.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/05/2012 18:18

Oi I personally think DP figurines/ornaments should be packed away safely and forgotten about in the loft Grin but hey ho!

Spent a small fortune at the school fayre today but all worth it! Chill out now tho x

LittleMissFlustered · 31/05/2012 19:05

No offence taken Oi, I might be Yorkshire born but I don't do 'twigs and shit', ornaments or anything like that. Unless piles of books and laundry count as decor?:o

mopsytop · 31/05/2012 19:07

Ha minimopsy hasn't got any hair to cut! Just a little downy fuzz.

dsm, my parents and mil are all visiting this w/e and I need to clean but mil coming tomo eve and I am working all day tomo. Argh!

BJR · 31/05/2012 19:27

Just done my first Keeping in touch day for work and I was practically falling asleep on the desk by midafternoon! My mum looked after DS and she was so exhausted by the time I got in, apparently she has never looked after such a wriggly baby :o

NorthernChinchilla · 31/05/2012 20:12

Ooo, I was just going to post that I thought your Mum was landing today BJR, and going to ask how it was all going. Hope your Mum enjoyed the time with DS even with him wriggling for England! I hope you get stuff sorted with your DP.

I feel human again after a full night's sleep. I was fine with interrupted sleep whilst on mat leave, but am a wuss and need 8 hours when at work. I nearly had a meltdown last night as I was blending some homemade peri peri sauce, and it leaked and the blender stopped working...

I know what you mean about the inappropriate stuff DPs bring when moving in Oi, mine brought some ridiculous shite he'd not worn in years and I'm only just getting to chuck out. The worst bit is that his parents are hoarders (wonder where DP gets it from Hmm) and so keep sending him back with more! No I do not want those figureens/that fishtank/those shirts cluttering up the house!
And I'll join you in a war of the roses re-enactment via the thread if needs be, us red roses have to stick together Wink!

We're 'lucky' in that way DSM- barring my Dad, our parents are too knackered to come and visit us, so despite both our mothers being neurotic harridans when it comes to cleaning and tidying having slightly higher standards than us, it doesn't matter.

DS and DP enjoyed a day out at Bluewater today- DP had an icecream and I guess in a not too long while DS will be able to join him Smile. Can't wait to show him off to the GPs in a couple of weeks.

HoneyLovesCake · 31/05/2012 21:00

msb I can do a RTIF okish but I don't find it comfortable; he's too heavy for my shoulders & when he falls asleep his head presses into my spine >_< so I was trying a reinforced ruck with the pass up & over my shoulder but that wasn't much better. Also tried one with a chest knot that was a disaster. I think a double hammock is my best bet (with the band across your chest to distribute the weight) but by the time I got around to trying it he was totally fed up & literally had me tied up in knots Blush I'll try again tomorrow; it'll be worth it when I get it right! I've been lusting after wraps on FSOT page on facebook.

Oi made me giggle :) Hope I wasn't too bossy about BOi's hair but it is gorgeous!

aethelfleda · 31/05/2012 21:23

Arg, I've been looking at clothnappytree again. Will I never learn?

And sad story of hinge doom at this end. We have a very nice childrens Sauthon wardrobe that we got for a song on ebay when DD2 was little. The hinges are going so I ordered more three weeks ago from an online retailer. I ordered 120 degree hinges but mismeasurred the angle (actually needed 210 degree ones). They sent the hinges, with fixings and stoppers and plates and stuff. I realised the error and rang them, they kindly said send the hinges back and keep te rest, they would swap them. Two weeks later... No hinges. I rang them to check they'd got the returns and they said yes but whoops, we forgot to send you the 210 detree ones. "I'll send them out today"....one week later and have I received them??? Nope...don't want to hassle them but DD2 is going to pull the door onto her head shortly....

And sympathy honey, we had a growth spurty dat of feed/doze/feed/doze here too. Great for sewing bunting!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 31/05/2012 21:36

I'm preparing for being up in the night, Sky hasn't drank that much milk today - well I don't think so anyway. So yawn I'm going to catch some zzzzzzzzzz before the wake up!

OiMissus · 31/05/2012 22:07

He he he! "twigs and shit", he he he!
We saw the torch! (no twigs) the whole thing was quite uplifting. Hundreds of people lining the streets, a lively cavalcade, all good.
(apart from the fact that mum rang my sister, and so decided to go and meet them, rather than stand nearer mum's. Mistake. It was a scrote-fest. Although we were stood next to Peter kay's mum. And I got a coca cola commemorative tambourine for BOi.)
