So I recieved my contract for my new job today. I don't often get angry but I am so mad I can't sleep. They have offered me what is actually a reduction in salary from my current post. The pay is much less than others in the same company are getting for the job despite them either having similar or less experience in the role than myself.

And it isn't the sort of job you expect there to be much variation in pay with as we have to go by the NHS banding for the job. I'm struggling to understand the intention behind it, as they can't honestly expect me to take the increase in responsibility for less money, can they??

Grrr, sorry need to rant.

MissRee · 21/06/2012 00:08

That sucks BJR! can you have a discussion with them about your pay concerns and/or go back to your original job if it doesn't suit you?

BJR · 21/06/2012 00:29

Technically I can MissRee but they are making things very difficult in that they have not agreed to flexible working for my old post. It's part of ongoing issues and the comany have a bit of a reputation for hounding people out who try to challange things. I have just spent an hour going through work emails and forwarding things to my personal e-mail in case I need to evidence anything in the future.

I'm going to request a meeting to discuss, but if they won't change it I don't think I would be able to go back. They have also forgotten to pay me for all my KIT days so far, and i'm supposed to be working tomorrow!

LittleMissFlustered · 21/06/2012 03:21

I've no advice to offer other than suggesting you pich the brains of the union rep if there is one? Even if you're not a member they might have some advice. Hope you can get it sorted:)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 21/06/2012 06:22

BJR That's pants hopefully you'll be able to discuss and work something out.

Well Sky slept the whole night not 1 wake up Grin woke at 5:10 brought her into bed with me and she fell back to sleep for another hr Smile

Sodding rain is back Sad

hawthers · 21/06/2012 07:01

We did it - 6.50!

Big fat stinky Haddock for bjr to take to work to slap them with

aethelfleda · 21/06/2012 07:31

I have no idea why, but DS actualy slept though for the first time eve: from 8.30pm-5am! Shock :) :) :)

Makes up for my washing getting soaked overnight cos DH left lots out claimg it was slightly damp (it is now!!)

BJR, that's rubbish. I second LMF's suggestion: is there a Unison rep if you are NHS, they are usually pretty good...

Did the Dec '11 lurgy infect the thread today too?

for BJR to take to work

for sleeping babies. Wish mine would get rid of his cold and start sleeping again too. Up twice with him last night, and made a whole lot worse by me being so stressed by the lack of bottle feeds and solids that I couldn't get to sleep until 1.30.

Dismal failure on both fronts again today, and he's now so suspicious of me putting anything in his mouth that he clamps his jaws shut even when I'm trying to put teething gel in, or give him Calpol Sad

Figgygal · 21/06/2012 21:13

Evening ladies the thread seems to have been quiet of late sorry I've dropped off the last week it's been due to my parents staying we've been very busy buying Figgy boy a new swing and taking him to Weston-super-Mare to the beach.

He's sitting up on his own very well he still hasn't rolled over from back to Front and will now do a little tummy time if I roll balls back and forth for him to play with whereas before he would roll over at the minute I put him down. He's still eating like a trooper we've had two sleep throughs but mainly he wakes up screaming for food like he's being tortured and it's quite distressing. I'm increasing the amount of water he is taking while decreasing his bottles as per the health visitors instructions but we're not getting very far.

Dh went away for the weekend this afternoon and my parents went back to Scotland so I'm on 100% boy duty until Monday which is quite frightening. It is also my last few days of maternity leave my wonderful little bubble is about to burst on Tuesday when I return to work very very reluctant to go but I keep telling myself if I was off for another couple of months it would just feel worse.

Hope you and your little ones are well wait to catch up on the thread expect there will be looking to mums net for some company the next few days.

NorthernChinchilla · 21/06/2012 21:13

I think there's been a highly-specific plague Kate...
Sounds like both you and DS are upset with the bottle/solids thing now, I really feel for you both. Probably give yourselves a break and try again in a week?

That sounds remarkably dodgy BJR- does the firm have a HR department, or are you dealing directly with your line manager? Good move to get the e-mails. If you can show that previous job = pay grade C (or whatever) and offered job = pay grade D, then they won't have much of a defence. Second the idea to get onto the union if you're in one.

Might also be worth contacting them (in writing) and doing the innocent/direct 'the contract states that I'll be paid X for doing this job, but as it is at pay grade D owing to the extra responsibility I assume it must be an error. Could you possibly correct this, or offer an explanation? And you may not be aware that I have not received the pay for my KIT days- could you arrange this and let me know the date it will be sorted? Thanks'

Hope everyone gets some good sleep again tonight. I'm going for an extra half hour, as I got up early this morning to get the far earlier train to ensure I got to my half-day seminar early/on time. I needed to get the bus, and they come every 10 minutes....
...apart from today. Waited 35 bloody minutes, and as a result was bloody late for the start of it Angry and with a tiredness headache to boot.

Gah!

But am actually going out for a couple of drinks after work tomorrow as someone's leaving

Oh, the thrills Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 21/06/2012 21:15

And a little (hug) for figgy, know exactly how you feel.
Nothing more to do than grit your teeth and get back in there- the last few days of mat leave are the pits...

Rrraaa! Effing doctors surgery! I took in Eva's repeat prescription for her lactose free formula on Tuesday, DH went to collect it from the chemist today only to be told that it hasn't been authorised because we're getting through it too quickly! I'm so bloody annoyed that the surgery didn't even phone Angry. I phoned the surgery and spoke to an extremely patronising receptionist who clearly didn't believe that's just how much she gets through. It's now been requested again but obviously I now don't have enough to last over the weekend. Formula feeders - how much do you use? Eva has 4 7oz feeds per day plus 3oz in her porridge, that's not too much is it?!

BJR that's pants! No advice that you haven't been given already but Angry on your behalf.

In other news Eva finally slept until 6am!

MissRee · 21/06/2012 23:31

Seven, Freya has 5x7oz bottles a day at the moment so no, I wouldn't say that was too much! How very crappy of them though, what are you supposed to do without it? I'm Angry on your behalf.

seven77 · 21/06/2012 23:58

Thanks missree, presumably either leave her crying and hungry or give her normal formula and put up with screaming in pain? Meant to say I've written a letter of complaint to the practice manager tonight which DH is taking in tomorrow. I think I've got the perfect politeness:shittyness ratio :o

MissRee · 22/06/2012 00:14

It appears SMA do a lactose free formula. Could you get some just to tide you over rather than giving normal formula?

Linky: www.smanutrition.co.uk/sma-products/lactose-free-infant-milk/lactose-free-infant-milk/product-626.aspx?catid=19&accepted=true

although I'm not sure where stocks it? Do you have a big Boots or something near you?

seven77 · 22/06/2012 00:26

That's the one she gets on prescription, nearest boots is 10 miles away. I've asked my mum to pick me some up tomorrow but still a total pain.

Right, must step away from the wine and go to bed!

LittleMissFlustered · 22/06/2012 05:42

8 - 5:30!

My boobs hurt, so Octoboy and I are off to sort them out >_

OP posts:
DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/06/2012 06:40

Seven it could of flagged up on system to not allow anymore. Someone needs to change the amount of tins you can get per script I think. (speaking as someone who works in a Doctors Surgery & has responsibility for issuing scripts) hopefully it will get sorted for you today.
Sky has between 4-5 7oz bottles per day so it isn't over doing it.

We had a long night here, so friggin tired Sad but school run & back to bed for Little Lady Sky & me to see if can get anymore sleep!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/06/2012 07:19

My Little Lady Sky is 6 months old today - how time flys!

aethelfleda · 22/06/2012 07:26

seven, I expect the receptionist (who will have had a huge pile of repeat prescriptions to process) will have looked on the presctiption screen and seen (eg) that it was 14 days since your last request:this info flags up on the computer to prevent a)people accidentally overusing medicnes that could be harmful/addictive, b) people creating waste by ordering too many and then not needing them, and (sadly) c) people overordering and then flogging the excess on ebay/down the pub.

Usually all that's needed to sort it is a phone call and ask to speak to the doctor on call, explain your need (what you describe is totally normal) and then the dr can check your script needs and issue accordingly. DSM is quite right about the amount: maybe you just need two tins per script or something. But it should be something theu can sort, the amound you desfribe needing is totally normal. Maybe the Dr hasn't got children and doesn't know how long a tin lasts (aren't the LF ones a bit smaller anyway?)

mopsytop · 22/06/2012 07:57

seven, minim has 5x7oz bottles a day. Was freaking out yesterday cos was reading the annabel karmel weaning book and it said your baby shouldn't be having much more than 20oz a day and if they were to talk to your GP. Minim is having nearly twice thar. Was worried I'm over feeding her. But she practically inhales her bottles! I thought they could self regulate?
