I feel human this morning he slept from 815 to 545 had his bottle and came back into bed with me and has only just woken up.

I've got him down 7oz breakfast, 5 mid morning, 5 mod afternoon and 7 at bedtime. I honestly think he would take as much as I would give him so I've had to drop them for him even though he's on 3 meals a day he seems to need the bottles in the daytime. The health visitor said to me 20 ounces but he's now on 24 is a big lad so I don't think that's a problem

Dsm Figgyboy is 6 months today too .......amazing!! Now I need to have shower somehow I can't see any chance of him having a sleep between now and going to the library at 10 o'clock.

CherryBlossom27 · 22/06/2012 08:27

Morning everyone!

What rubbish weather! I'm taking DS to baby massage later, I thought I'd drop in to the shops on the way home and do some batch cooking for DS, I've been getting some meal ideas as I feel like I've not cooked properly for months!

DS is now on three meals a day and still on 5 bottles, I've been making up 9oz, and if he leaves any that's fine. I'm hoping he will drop down to 4 bottles once he starts eating more.

I'm getting DS weighed next week as he will be 6 months old this weekend, quite interested to see how much he weighs as I've not had him weighed since he was 4 months old. It's quite scary how fast time is going by, I'm enjoying myself alot more now though with solids and better sleeping.

DS had his first nappy rash as he did a poo in the night and slept through :( I invested in some sudocream and it's looking much better now thank goodness! I felt so guilty when I saw he had nappy rash!

aethelfleda · 22/06/2012 09:55

Waved DD2 off on her very first school trip

it's daft, they're only going a few miles away to visit a botanical garden

for figgyboy too! Sounds as if we are slowly all getting there...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/06/2012 10:28

Aethel Hope DD2 has a good school trip. Darcie's next school trip is to Marwell Wildlife Adventure Centre and she can't wait.

Darcie was taken to school for me this morning and is being picked up from school as going to her best friends after school for pizza & The Muppets DVD afternoon. So peaceish for me.... :)

Sky didn't sleep well at all last night soooooooo tired. However, she's had a bath this morning enjoyed a 7oz bottle and Farleys bear mixed in with milk. So chill out day for me today.

Wedding stuff is coming along well....So opinions on kiddy goody bags please:

2 Boys aged 3.5yrs: Toy Story colouring book, colouring pencils, activity pad, bubbles, helium balloon, glo straw, 3 pull back cars, 2 octonaut figures, 3 peppa pig roller stamp pens & a book.

7 girls from 7-9: Tinkerbell colouring book, colouring pencils, activity pad, tiny notepad, bubbles, helium balloon, glo straw, beaded necklace, beaded bracelet, twisted sticks, make your own bag, book.

Thanks :)

aethelfleda · 22/06/2012 11:05

They sound fab DSM! I-think-some-of-the-grownups-will-envya-party-bag-like-that-- I take it all the girls like girly stuff, makes sense to have them all the same so there's no fighting :)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/06/2012 11:20

Thanks Aethel all the girls are girly girls yes. Also thats why they are all the same so no fighting.

LittleMissFlustered · 22/06/2012 19:49

In honour of the glorious weather I made a cheese and bacon potato bake for dinner this evening:o

Rashkakeller · 22/06/2012 20:34

Sounds delicious LMF

I survived the kit day but feel tired now amazing how sitting on your arse talking all day and not doing much tires you because I worked hard...ahem

Well done sleeping babies! Ds still wakes once between 4 and 6am most mornings for a frantic feed but does go back down. Wonder if he'll ever go to 8? He is on 2 meals a day but only has about 8 spoonfuls a meal, does this sound ok for a 6 month old buster? He's slowly getting the hang of it but im worried about re-introducing fruit and veg :0/
About 6 people told me I was looking great and had lost loads of weight (besides the obvious bump weight!) so that is a great incentive to carry on the diet and exercise (and by diet, read not eating my body weight in biscuits every day)

Any plans for the weekend? We're going to my dp's mates girlfriends sons 13th birthday gathering tomorrow. I think. Dp's mate doesn't want us to go because he reckons he's going to sack her but he never goes through with it and they've been together for 8 months. He's almost 40 but resembles a moody teenager! Anyway, we didn't go to her housewarming gathering because of him not wanting us too and we don't want her to think we're arses so we are going. But we don't really want to. Oh the dilemma!

Figgygal · 23/06/2012 06:44

Blimey he slept to 6.30 thats 2 nights in a row, right hes having swede, carrot and potato mash with chicken every night for tea Grin

Where is everyone? Is RL finally taking over?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/06/2012 07:39

Morning another great night sleep here from Sky. 7:30 - 4am then about 3oz of milk and back till 7 Grin

Darcie has got her singing gig at Portsmouth Guildhall today which we are looking forward to Smile then going wedding undies.

mopsytop · 23/06/2012 08:08

Morning! Moved minimopsy into her own room last night, along with the blackout blind and she slept til 7:30! Straight through. At least she didn't make enough noise to wake me up if she did wake (I can hear her talking/crying as the rooms are so close and our house is so small. Best night's sleep in months!

Bad news though, one of her little friends has chickenpox and she was in the car with her for well over an hour on Wednesday-what are the chances she will get it? Pretty high, no?

CherryBlossom27 · 23/06/2012 08:13

Hi everyone,

Figgy that's great that your LO is sleeping through! It makes life so much easier :) - keep up the good work Figgy Boy!

Rashkakellar to be honest I don't think you can over feed a baby, if your LO doesn't want to finish a meal he will let you know and purse his lips up and or spit the food back out! That's so nice to be getting compliments, keep up the good work! Nice when a diet actually goes to plan!

LMF that sounds yummy! can I have the recipe please?

DSM the goodie bags sound lovely! Hope the kids will enjoy them, I'm sure they will!

CherryBlossom27 · 23/06/2012 08:16

Argh! Pressed post too soon!

DS has now been introduced to the delights of weetabix and ready brek, both have gone down very well :) I've mixed in whatever fruit purées I've got as well which he's enjoyed.

I tried him out on an Annabel Karmel cheesy pasta with tomatoes and carrots, it's very very sweet, but he liked it and so did DH :o

I can't believe he's going to be six months old tomorrow, terrifying! Well I think we will be clearing his room out today and he will be in there on his own tonight :(

LittleMissFlustered · 23/06/2012 09:40

CherryBlossom it's a dead simple recipe.

Bacon! I use unsmoked streaky, you can use what you like. Chop it finely and pop into a pan on the hob and cook until golden brown and crunchy. Set aside.

Sauce! White sauce, bane of cooking. Do it however works best for you. I make a roux then add the milk, some people prefer to do it all in one. I can give you measurements as I do it on the fly, but any recipe book will have them. I add a little bit extra milk as you don't want to sauce too thick. It needs to be creamy but still be pourable. When it's at the right consistency, add shed loads of grated cheese. We like cheddar, the sharper the better. Make sure you have some left as you'll need some later.

Peel and slice some spuds (enough to two thirds fill your favourite oven dish), quite thin or they never cook!

Later half your potatoes in your oven dish. Sprinkle on half your bacon. Pour on half the sauce to cover. Repeat with your remaining ingredients. Covet with lid/foil and bake at about 200°c for forty minutes. Take out and use a knife to see if the potatoes are cooked. If they're not recover and pop them back in. If they are, sprinkle cheese on top and chuck back in the oven for ten minutes until it browns. If you want a crunchy top, put bashed ready salted crisps under the cheese:o

Nom!

Variations are infinite, though garlic and herb sauce and chicken works well:)

Arg, a badger has been * sleeping in my head and I have nasty achy joints and a Stinking cold.

But DH just managed to get DS to take 2.5 oz of formula while i had a lurch-in (like a lie-in but with more zonk).

Off to stuff myself full of caffeine and brie sandwich (I've never quite got over the brie-deprivation of pregnancy!) and some neurofen to blast my headache. I hate minor illnesses, they are inconvenient!

I'm with you aethel, the minor ones where you're not ill enough to actually take to bed and have sympathy and someone else muck in, but are ill enough to feel like the aforementioned badger's arse, are the pits. Hope the brie and caffeine works out OK.

BJR · 23/06/2012 13:04

The 6 months seem to have flown by Cherry DS is 6 months today! Good luck with your DS going into his own room tonight. I found it much easier than I expected when I moved DS. Although I do like to sneak him into bed with me if he wakes early as I miss him being so close!

I like the sound of that recipe LMF it sounds perfect to combine with the grotty weather.

DS has a horrid cold, combined with crawling he is leaving lovely trails of snot everywhere! I think the cold is making him off balance to as he crawls a bit then seems to forget what all his limbs do and sits there with a confused look on his face. Does mean its a bit easier to keep up with him than it was a few days ago though :)

AnAirOfHope · 23/06/2012 14:20

Just wanted to say that Hope was on the floor crawling and went by the fireguard. Before i had chance to say or do anything Air shouts "No Hope Hot" and then rolls her back to the middle of the room Grin

He got a silver star for his kindness chart Grin

Figgygal · 23/06/2012 16:11

figgyboy shows no interest on rolling back to front, refuses tummy time just rolls over still and so not a chance of crawling. He does sit on his own and loves standing up I guess he will have his own abilities....,,,, would like to see him roll though.

Today I've been up to the parents-in-law with little man while dh away and this afternoon we're going to watch the latest mission impossible movie is quite good so far I'm surprised because Tom Cruise is a bit of a joke these days however I saw him in rock of ages the other day and he was really good and and maybe doesn't take himself too seriously after all so I'll give him another chance.

Have to confess I hate cooking and after having cooked for myself and little one the last two nights tonight I'm planning on giving him a jar of something and I think I'll have cheese on toast or some soup.

CherryBlossom27 · 23/06/2012 17:57

Yum yum! Definitely going to try that out, thanks LMF

Aethel hope you're feeling better soon. It's crap being I'll with kids as you can't rest so it takes longer to get better!

Air that's so cute :)

Figgy he's probably doing stealth 360 rolls whilst you're not watching :o Sitting up is very cool though! DS has just started, but he's very wobbly!

Agree Tom Cruise is a bit wierd these days...I think it's the Scientology thing?! I wonder if Suri is as spoilt as the papers would have us believe? There's never anything about his adopted kids with Nicole Kidman.

DH and I have spent half the afternoon clearing the junk out of DS's room, we moved in while I was pregnant, so is that an excuse for having unpacked boxes still?! It's all ready now and there is a single bed in there as well as the cot so I can always sleep in there too :) Our storage cupboard and shed are now chockablock, so we've got to do a trip to the dump and a trip to the charity shop.

NorthernChinchilla · 23/06/2012 19:37

Hah, so it's like you've got your own little snail leaving trails across the house the BJR? I know what you mean about the mornings though- we're going to leave DS in his own room soon, as his sleeping is getting better and better, but we both love getting him in bed in the morning .

That's lovely air, good on him! It's little moments like that that make you feel really proud, more than anything they do at school.

It's been busy today- what with DP being out of action all week with being ill and my family coming over tomorrow, it's been a sort the house out day. Have done loads of washing, sorted out the garden (my back is sore), set up DS's highchair, re made beds, etc, etc. Oh, and nearly killed each other in the supermarket because it was so stupidly busy with morons.

Glass of wine and footie beckons, joy Smile

jigglebum · 23/06/2012 21:01

Think I may finally have caught up on the thread!

jigglebum · 23/06/2012 21:14

Well we survived our week in Portugal but tbh it was bloody hard work at times. Freya has been really healthy until of course we go abroad and then she was ill for most of the week. It was just a viral type thing but she was so blocked up, high temp, kept puking up milky mucus, got a touch of conjunctivitus and would not sleep in the night for love nor money. How you ladies who are up every night do it - I was a total bitch by the day we came home as despite being on holiday with DH and my parents apparently I was the only one who she would possibly want in the night when she was ill. Dh tried (and spectacularly failed) a couple of times. On the last night I got no sleep at all so now, despite a bit of a tan I look like I need a bloody good holiday!

Having said all that we did have some good times! The first 2 days were fine and DS had an excellent time in the pool (which was lovely) and on the beach. DH and I managed a really nice meal out (in the days before I started getting overtired and pissed off!) But taking 2 children on holiday seems more than twice the hard work of taking one and my parents were less proactive than I had hoped (though still helpful) I feel like I did not get much of a break but it was lovely to have sun, blue skies and 28 degrees plus every day and that made it bearable (until the last day!) however, we will NOT be going camping for a week in August!!!! I have persuaded DH that day trips out may be less stressful for all.

As ever reading this thread has cheered me up. DH has been annoying me again since the holiday and it is reassuring to be reminded that young children/babies are a huge strain on relationships. however I do wonder if we didnt have children if we would still be together , but I don't know.

I have sorted out going back to work in Sep and I went in on friday to see people and it was really nice. They have been really accommodating about my requests and I am working just WEds and Friday, which suits me perfectly. I am looking forward to having another role. I found I was a better mum on the days I was at home when I worked part time as I had another outlet and it was more special when I did see DS.

Sorry to hear about poorly babies (and parents!) It makes things even harder .
