dsm, I've played at scores of weddings in a quartet (violinist); popular choices (nigh on universal, in fact) are Pachabel's canon, Air on a G-string by Bach, Handel's Largo and Queen of Sheba. Oh and Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Mozart). I naturally am a tad sick of them all :) but all go down a storm at weddings. On one memorable occasion we played the Starwars theme music as the bride made her entrance, to her total surprise :) I have also played unaccompanied Bach at a couple of weddings, the best option really for a solo violin (but bloody hard and therefore very nervewracking!!)

LittleMissFlustered · 13/06/2012 21:04

The quartet in question were friends of the bride, a cellist herself, so the music wasn't all the expected pieces, was varied and there were some original compositions in their repertoire too. Also meant no potential mess up with the church pa system:o

Parents arrive tomorrow for a week and they are staying in our room so tonight dh and I are trialling our new sleeping arrangements. I'm on a single mattress on floor of nursery which we've shuffled round to fit after moving out the nursing chair and he's in the single bed in the office/3rd room. Will be weird sleeping next to DS again and remembering how trashy he used to be anticipating little sleep over next week.

Today was spent rushing round to find a baby weight friendly dress for wedding on Friday the monsoon dress I ordered with next day delivery when realised my planned dress clung in all the wrong places wasnt right though managed to find another when went to return it. Parents are staying here with lo we staying in a hotel overnight near to wedding venue which will be 1st night away from him.....eek

Have another kit day tomorrow best get to bed and try to sleep.....good luck me!!

OiMissus · 13/06/2012 23:01

Greetings from somewhere nr Toronto. In summary: cried when left BOi. Flight ok. Hotel lovely. Sun. Pump won't work (voltage ishews?), so leaned over the bath squeezing for 20 mins to reduce painful swelling. :( Expressing makes you emotional. Not good.
Now make up'd and in jeans, ready for meal with wine.
Have just read thread, but in rush so can't name check, but haddocks to shouty husbands, and soothing vibes to non-sleepers. X

seven77 · 13/06/2012 23:11

oi :( hope your trip goes very quickly so you can get back to BOi.

Stressful BBQ with family here today, though precisely why I planned family birthday celebration the day before DS birthday. It means we can spend his birthday at the zoo with people we actually want to spend time with.

More to shouty husbands from me too.

seven77 · 14/06/2012 06:09

No night posts? Hope you've all been sleeping!

Figgygal · 14/06/2012 06:28

He slept through for first time in 7 weeks in fact I'm lying on floor next to him (not comfy) and he's still asleep. Grin

Oi hope your trip goes quickly not surprised you cried when u left.

Right up and shower before workSad

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/06/2012 07:43

Oi hope your trip goes fast and you reunited with BOi soon.

for shouty DHs

Off to get Sky weighed this morning then to meet a friend for baby group & coffee after Smile she's having marital problems - unsupportive DH - hard for DP & I as they are our close friends. Their little boy was born 27/12/11 and it seems he's not helpful or supportive and they are under financial strain. So coffee after group so she can offload.

mopsytop · 14/06/2012 08:14

Must be hard Oi :(

Minim projectile vomited last night and this morning so I'm guessing all the upset at feeding all week was a bug leading up to this. I woke up in middle of night w/ a migraine, was v bad, bit more bearable now (as evidenced by fact that I can look at phone) but still bad so husband had to stay home. Obvs can't take her to nursery. V stressed about my chapter, feel like I'll never get it finished :( also going to go back on the anti-migraine meds I've decided. Can't cope with migraines/bad head w a baby.

aethelfleda · 14/06/2012 08:21

I love this thread, it's so therapeutic!

Well done oi for both surviving the flight and the breast pump issue: can you find a babies-r-us and pick up a Cheap handpump?

Good luck with the coffee with mate DSM, Listening takes a huuuge load off people, I hope her situation with Dp can improve a bit.

I had the best night for three weeks or so: feeds at 9,12 and 3 and 5 would be lousy pre-regression but for me it was a definite improvement. Don't know if anything we did helped but am sightly less frazzled (sort of). I still think it's teeth: hope other mummies got a little shut-eye...

aethelfleda · 14/06/2012 08:22

Rest mopsy and hope the migraine meds work quickly (do you tale preventing ones too?

mopsytop · 14/06/2012 08:30

Was on amitriptiline (sp?) before pregnancy which really worked, so going to go back on it, I think. Usually take syndol as it makes me sleep but you can't get it anymore :( I usually wait til just after I vomit, take motillium to calm stomach, then syndol and pray they stay down long enough to work. Took solpadeine in the night and managed to
Keep it down so now it's a bad head - migraine has receded. Bearable lying down but as soon as I even sit up it's too bad :(

As long as minim ok in herself, don't need to go to GP do I? I am guessing it's a tummy bug.

hawthers · 14/06/2012 09:22

Another good night here. Up at 3.40 them a quick one at 5 then f slept until 830! Am hopeful that at 3 he wasn't actually hungry or anything and I reckon if I held my nerve and left him he might have settled himself. I'm putting it down to getting good sleep in the day so he isn't overtired. Challenging with a toddler who likes to shout wakey wakey but still its worth a good go.

Rashkakeller · 14/06/2012 10:21

Hawthers I'm with you re shouty toddlers! I hate telling dd to keep the noise down, which is why I try to get ds to sleep in his cot during the day as well as at night but doesnt always work! Glad you got a good night.

And well done to the other babies for letting their mamas have some sleep!

I was up around 2.30 or so with ds. He wasn't crying but had the most horrendous cough so thought a feed might help. I also propped his cot up with a blanket which must have done something because he went back down until 7.15.

Oi hope your Canada trip goes ok and you don't miss BOi too much. Of course, you will...but think of the time when you get him back in your arms for major snugglage

Mopsy hope you and Mimim feel lots better soon - sounds grim x

LittleMissFlustered · 14/06/2012 11:20

Hopefully Reckits will have sorted the licencing issues s

Feel better soon mopsy and minim

Been to Dr and now have antibiotics for tonsillitis and antihistamines for rash. Hoping to feel human soon. DS slept through until 6.30. Shame I was awake from 2.15 feeling rough. Bedtime tonight can't come soon enough!

Xiaoxiong · 14/06/2012 14:37

Hello all, I know I've fallen off the last (few!) threads but I have only one word to say which I think and hope only aethel will recognize, because I hope none of the rest of you have ever had to deal with the wonder of nature that is cryptosporidium (luckily only DH but it has rather turned life upside down as he can't go to work!). Apologies to those lovelies who have kindly texted/messaged me and received no response, please forgive me and I shall be a better correspondent in future.

Anyway enough said about that!!

Other bullet points to catch up:

  • I'm back to work on 2 July so we have been easing in our lovely nanny - pretty worried about it all but need to work till year end at least
  • still no idea how BF and pumping is going to work, given I'll be away from Pirran at least 10 hours a day Sad - but I am determined to keep breastfeeding as much as possible
  • we having lots of messy fun weaning though!
  • lots of rolling and he has fallen off the bed twice Blush
  • no crawling or teeth yet
  • still waking to feed at least twice a night - sometimes more
  • and the best - he has learned to clap, which together with his huge gummy grin just makes my day every time Smile

Have been silently following along with you all in the wee small hours and it still amazes me both how similar and how different all our LOs are and our various experiences of motherhood. And how nice you all are supporting each other through thick and thin Smile

Hope those not feeling well get well soon, esp mopsy & minim and KateM and sending love and haddocks to BJR, Cherry, seven, DSM and everyone else who has needed them recently.

MissRee · 14/06/2012 16:57

hope your hubby is feeling better soon!

Also hope you and MiniM are on the mend soon Mopsy

I still have a dinky little lady at 13lb14oz at 22 weeks! Got an appointment with the GP next week to discuss her Tongue tie.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/06/2012 19:05

Had an eventful day today. Been to my friends and hoping I've persuaded her to try & save her marriage Smile

Figgygal · 14/06/2012 21:12

Hi all another successful day at work and CM except for when cm sent me a pic of him on the swings and I started crying. I've never taken him to the swings b4 and so just felt sad as I'm his mum and should be taking him to the swings Sad

Another wave to Tyel Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 14/06/2012 21:49

A very quick hello to all from the badlands of the North....

Lovely to see you again Tyel, think my friend may have had that when she spent six months working in an orphanage in Nepal, got it from the water supplies. The name sounds awfully familiar.

(Hugs) for all of those who are unhappy being parted from their LOs.

See you all in a few days

NorthernChinchilla · 14/06/2012 21:50

Oh and MissRee, she's so cute, and at least she doesn't put your back out!

MissRee · 14/06/2012 21:54

Very true Northern, with all the back troubles in the family at the moment, I'm glad she's not a chubber Grin

seven77 · 14/06/2012 22:07
