Hope he's caved by now aethel :(

I'm not even thinking about legs Honey :o I'm going to do it lying like a cat does, if that makes sense? For the spikes I'm going to pipe triangles out of melted chocolate onto grease proof paper, logic being they're lighter so might stay put longer:o

He did rventually settle with calpol and bringing in with me but it's a bit [Hmm when a "victory stretch" is 2.5 hours...
This has got to be teeth :(

Figgygal · 13/06/2012 03:16

Gah I've been up an hour he's has 3oz water before I decided it was too much and 3 oz milk he will not go back to sleep Sad

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/06/2012 06:53

We had one wake up last night - drank 6oz half asleep in 15mins do wasn't to bad.

BJR · 13/06/2012 07:44

There is hope on the sleep front ladies. DS's sleep has been a nightmare lately with hourly wake ups some nights. Last night he slept through 7 till 7. I didn't even have to get up to settle him, its the first full night i've had in bed in 6 months :o

I know it may be a one off, but I feel like I could do anything this morning :o

HoneyLovesCake · 13/06/2012 10:05

Bad night. Rocco's temp peaked at 38.1. Took Calpol, Ibuprofen, stripping him down to a nappy & a damp flannel to get it down. He's quite whingy, has been sneezing & coughing but there's no obvious mucus. He seems bright & alert now he's up so hopefully whatever this is he'll get through it quickly. I'm shattered.
:(

BLW is definitely the way forward for us; I thought this morning that it might do him good to get some solids in him so I tried to spoon feed him porridge >_< Cue projectile vomiting as soon as the spoon touched his tongue! Maybe I'll try giving him a preloaded spoon next time? I guess trying something different when he's sick wasn't the best idea.

LMF Loving the cake ideas :) You should google dinosaur cake & look at images; there are some incredible cakes; obviously made by mums with a Ritalin habit Hmm

Pompoms for babybjr & a giant-sized mug of coffee for aethel

CherryBlossom27 · 13/06/2012 10:07

Agh! Horrible morning, woke up to the smell of shite...DS had done a poo which exploded and leaked everywhere his whole body was soaked in it and the cot sheets too. Got up and stuck everything in the washing machine gave him a bath. Then I decided to try out avocado....DS puked it and his milk straight back up after gagging on the taste of it, so another change of clothes and this is all before 9am!

Had a lovely weekend trip to Lille with DH and DS but finding every time we disagree on something it is quickly escalating to a row which tbh spoiled the last day of the trip. Did a KIT day yesterday and DH picked me up and ended up having another row in the car as he wants me to wait before telling work I'd like to go back part-time. It's not like we are even arguing over important things just little things as he won't back down in an argument and I'm sick of him shouting me down so I've started shouting back at him which makes it worse, but I don't see why he should be allowed to shout and I can't. He's going to have a nasty shock when he really sees me lose my temper. We've been together 11 years but I don't think he's ever seen me lose it, he thinks he has but I keep a tight control on my temper!

Sorry to have a moan, but don't feel like I can in real life and my mum already thinks he's acting like an arsehole as the last two times she's come to stay we've had a row and she's heard him shout me down. So bloody embarrassing! Seeing as he's been so rude to me in front of my family I won't be holding back in front of his bloody awful family (apart from his dad who I like, his siblings are all bloody awful, I've given up on them!). I think he's relying on me to back down to have an easier life, or to avoid embarrassment.

Right, better go as I can smell poo again!

KateM77 · 13/06/2012 11:51

Cherry feel free to moan, that's what we're here for. for DH

HLC hope Rocco is much better soon, and that you get to catch up on some sleep

BJR we've had a couple of 12 hour sleeps the last couple of nights here too. He never does more than 3 nights in a row normally, but it really helps me to recover a bit after the bad nights.

aethel hope DS catches the sleepy vibes soon

We have our first tooth! I think the second one won't be far behind either. I'm pleased to report that in this one respect DD and DS are the same, and other than copious amounts of dribble and lots of chewing on Sophie, DS hasn't suffered with the teething. Operation Reclaim The Boobs will have to resume very soon I think.

In other news, one of my tonsils is swollen again Sad. I really don't want to get tonsillitis again. It's only about 3 weeks since the last time.

aethelfleda · 13/06/2012 12:02

At least the sun is out over here! House is a bombsite but Mr Clingy is ensuring I'm not getting much done about it. Good job he's a charmer...

aethelfleda · 13/06/2012 12:04
aethelfleda · 13/06/2012 12:06

and good luck with the boob thing!

aethelfleda · 13/06/2012 12:38

Ooh and honey, most of the "standard" viral bugs have babies hot for 3 nights in a row, then they fight it off and (usually) get better. So R may well be similar tonigjt and tomorrow but hopefully will improve by the weekend.

KateM77 · 13/06/2012 12:38

Just watching last night's Great Ormond Street programme. Don't know why I do it - I'm in floods of tears every week. It brings back all that we went through with DD, and she was nowhere near as bad as the LO's on the programme. Upsetting, but makes me realise how fortunate we've been, and how amazing the medical staff are.

Hope the bottle is well received aethel. Make the most of the sunshine!

AWomanCalledHorse · 13/06/2012 13:00

Kate, that Great Ormond St programme is one of only 2 things that I've seen DH cry over.
Hurrah for tooth! And I hope your tonsil is just playing silly buggers.

for MiniBJR!

Hope Rocco is feeling better today HLC? We have a whiny clingy teething DS atm, I miss the one that slept through!!

Cherry, for DH & hope DS stops being a poo monster!

I'm in awe of you people who can do long trips away from home with DC's! Aside from a few overnight drives opp North, the longest we've been away from a house is an afternoon!

HoneyLovesCake · 13/06/2012 13:07

Thanks for the info aethel I think my OH may have to sleep on the sofa tonight then. We need one of these Wink

Btw I think he has a sore throat, is there anything he can take? He coughs & then starts crying which makes him cough & then cry some more He's not a happy bunny today :(

Well it's lunchtime & I haven't managed a bath on my own so I guess we'd better have one together; maybe it'll calm him down [hopeful emoticon]

aethelfleda · 13/06/2012 13:34

Not really honey, calpol or ibuprofen will make throat less sore but none of the cough med really work at this age. They are useful as placebo when he is bigger though (for bumps bruises and whines that don't actially need medicating)....

mopsytop · 13/06/2012 13:52

Hi all sorry for the me post but minim is just screaming and screaming on the bottle, I changed to 6+ month teats but no change. Put anbesol on her gums before the feed, no change. It's so stressful and upsetting trying to feed her but she's fine apart from that-cd be a little digestive bug maybe?

hawthers · 13/06/2012 15:02

Achieved the holy grail and both boys are asleep upstairs but we're off to see his new school in a little bit so I'm going to have to wake them both up Sad

And I've just realised that I've still got f on the same teats as always eek must dig out the next size up. I've also given him some apple which was sort of well received. Carrot for dinner, see how that goes.

Am biting the bullet on sleep too and have a lady coming to do a seminar on sleep to my nct group and if that doesn't work I'm going for the premium package in a bid to get a full nights sleep. It's nearly six months since I slept for a full night and I'm a shit mummy when I'm tired and I'm not a great wife either so for the good of all we're going to crack this sleep thing even if it kills me in the process

AWomanCalledHorse · 13/06/2012 15:27

mopsy, I've got no idea about tummy bugs but sometimes DS gets like that if he really, really needs a poo? Hope she is feeling better soon & it's less stressful for you. x

hawthers, good luck with the sleeping & hope the school trip today is fun and not at all stressful!

CherryBlossom27 · 13/06/2012 18:11

Good news, I've given myself a kick up the bum and cheered up! I think I need to try not to interrupt DH even when I know what he is going to say before he says it....he agreed that he will try not to get wound up so fast! Honestly, I really feel for women that think a baby will help a relationship, me and DH I think are pretty solid, but it's hard work having a baby and trying to be nice to each other (and we've got a relatively "easy" baby!)!

I think DS is exhausted from Poomagedden this morning...he slept from 10.30am - 2.15pm, and I put him down in the cot at 4.30pm as he was yawning and all is still quiet!

Thank you Kate and AWomanCalledHorse I think I just needed a rant to get it out of my system!

On the holiday front as it was only three days and the eurostar doesn't have a weight limit I treated myself to ready made milk formula cartons :o We checked the hotel had a travel cot and microwave and I just took our cot sheets and blanket and bought some travel microwave steriliser bags!

The French are so not rude! They all loved DS and were chatting away and smiling to him :) He produced lots of smiles and laughs in return! As DH says they have babies in every country and manage. We timed our museum trips for afternoon nap time, although DS woke in time to see a Picasso painting! I think the only thing we really did differently to our normal holidays was to eat dinner earlier at around 6pm and get DS in bed by 8pm.

When we go to Hong Kong in the autumn it will be a bit weird getting a plane, but I think I'll use the ready made cartons on the plane and take a box of powdered milk for when we are actually there. I'll probably sterilise the bottles by boiling them in water as me and DH can't remember if his nan has got a microwave....we are thinking not! Nappies we will just buy when we get there or I might ask if they can buy some for us before we arrive! The family is going to love feeding up DS :)

Hawthers I really hope the sleep thing improves soon! I haven't really got any suggestions as we've been lucky with DS, apart from day time naps he was refusing to sleep in his cot and I had two days of "you will sleep!" and letting him cry for 5 minutes and picking him up, calm him down and straight back in cot again and repeating three times. He doesn't argue with me now! Also I think I've got better at spotting the signs when he's tired too.

Mopsy might be worth giving your HV a ring? Not sure what it could be tbh?

KateM77 · 13/06/2012 18:50

Me post: think I've seen the dreaded white spots on my throat. Will head to Dr tomorrow. Feel like shit, going hot and cold, headache, sore throat, achy. On top of that I have an allergic rash all over my torso and arms ( had that a few days, v sensitive skin) and have something akin to period pains. Woe is me!

On my own with both DC's tomorrow. Mum on holiday and DH needs to be on office. He can WFH on Fri though. Not looking forward to tomorrow. Off to bed as soon as DH down.

aethelfleda · 13/06/2012 19:30

Oh no kate, hope the throat settles soon. Salt water garles, rest, painkillers and docs if you're still vile tomorrow.

Wow cherry, that's jetsetting! And totally agree with you about how evn the easiest babies strain even the solidest of relationships.

At this end I wish to announce a record 1.5 ounce intake! We just had a bit back (and an enormous poonami) but while not happy about the prospect, I think that eventually he will cave if I close the milk bar next month. I am quite happy to mix feed for a bit if he sleeps! Irritatingly he naps on his front/side fairly well when in arms, but I am too paranoid to try sleeping him probe even for a trial. I'm sure when he can roll he'll do what the DDs did and adopt the bum-in-air position to sleep.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/06/2012 20:13

Kate Hope you feel better soon.

Hawthers Hope you get another good nights sleep.

Aethel Woohoo on 1.5oz intake Grin let's hope it keeps going.

Well both my girls are in bed. Another day of a lot happening and not sure if Sky has had 4 or 5 bottles Hmm will try and get another one into her now and one later.

Sorted make up & hair for wedding today Smile so one thing down.

Opinions on these choices of music for the ceremony:

Bride entrance: you're my inspiration by Chicago 17
Signing of register: Always by Bon Jovi
Exit music: you'll be in my heart by Phil Collins.
First Dance: Nothings going to stop us now by Jefferson Starship
Crowd up: I've gotta feeling by Black Eyed Peas.

Need another song for register signing and guest entrance music at least another 3 songs.

LittleMissFlustered · 13/06/2012 20:37

A friend of mine got a string quartet from the university music department to play at her wedding, it was beautiful:)
