We're off for baths. seven, rack up the solids as baby seems to want them. An easy way to look at portion size initially is try half a volume of a commercial baby jar for that "age", so my DS gets offered half a stage-1-little-tin (same volume in my home made weaning pot. When they reliably finish that, double it to a whole jar equivalent. When they are bigger get a little bowl/plate and make a "mini-meal" so it looks appetising but you're /dh not overdoing the portions. i still use side plates for the DDs, they have the sam amount each, it has a pattern around the edge and if its a "heavy" meal eg risotto I give them a portion that doesnt cover the pattern, if it's lighter eg pancakes, I fill tthe whole plate. Works so far!

seven77 · 11/06/2012 18:15

Thanks aethel. She finishes a whole jar/fruit pot already! I guess we could go to the 7 month jars or size equivalent from next week, she seems far too little for lumps!

Figgygal · 11/06/2012 19:37

Thanks ladies!! I said to them he is much more in proportion than he was, his cheeks and legs are def slimmer than a few weeks ago. He was born on the 91st it's not like it's a massive Jump I wish he was smaller he's a lump to carry round but he is how he isGrin

I'm going to try get him to 4 180mls a day as if hes up 12 hours thats a bottle when he wakes/bedtime and 2 in the day with his food. I suspect that will just anger him though.

Need dh to stop feeling so sorry for himself too about the night feeds he's making out his productivity is going down due to lack of sleep rather than the fact he's a bit of a lazy bastard.

Have a keep in touch day tomorrow absolutely dreading it hopefully will be a day of nodding in meetings rather than having to contribute anything. Lo's bag is packed for his trip to childminders as is mine Sad

AWomanCalledHorse · 11/06/2012 20:26

Rash, glad DD is ok!
Oi, we have to cut Ds's hair soon, it gets in his eyes & pisses him off...although he doesn't need an excuse to get grumpy Grin
Figgy, he sounds like a lovely little chunk! Hope tomorrow flies past & DS and you are back home before you both realise what's happened. xx
DSM, love Sky in her England kit! So cute!!

Is there anyone else who can't afford to go back to work?
I wasn't planning on getting a job until DS was in fulltime education, but knowing I can't is depressing.

Quick Question; Are bubbles (the sort you blow, made of washing-up liquid) baby friendly?

Figgygal · 11/06/2012 20:42

awch I had an email from some parenting site or another about bubbles and how wonderful they are for our little ones and how we should use them everywhere when they wig out over something or other. I've bought some today actually in case it ever stops raining before his 1st birthday Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/06/2012 20:50

AWCH Thanks Grin

aethelfleda · 11/06/2012 21:08

figgy, if you are reducing bottle numbers I'd suggest you might like to consider moving the food away from tue botle timings as this will space out things for you, substitute a sippy cup with water in it
At mealtimes so he won't get too thirsty. (this is what I did with the DDs)

Eg: 6.30-7 am , wake, 7 oz bottle.
8.30-9.00 breakfast (baby cereal) and sippycup of water
11am: snack: 7oz bottle (replace with milk&rusk/biscuit/fruit when older)
12.30-1pm lunch (puree/fingerfood) and sippycup of water
3pm: snack: 7oz bottle (replace with milk/squash and fruit/ricecake/cheese when older)
5-5.30pm dinner (puree/fingerfood) and sippy cup of water
7pm : nighttime bottle and bed.

It sounds as if they are permanently eating but it did work!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/06/2012 21:23

Figgy I do exactly the same as Aethel and it seems to be working Smile

Bloody locked my back and it hurts Sad but in bed now as both girls asleep.

Wedding stuff is really coming along its almost all done Grin

Music ideas are wanted tho - any suggestions as we have none at the mo.

jigglebum · 11/06/2012 21:53

right off to bed - just to say I do exactly the same as aethel s plan above and works for F and did the same for DS. Will drop the 11 am bottle next as she shows less interest in this and had dropped Ds's by 9 months ish

hawthers · 11/06/2012 22:03

Great timing aethelfleda I was just thinking that I couldn't remember how I fitted in the milk with the food. And I'm assuming this is the patented sleep through the night menu plan, right a?

OiMissus · 11/06/2012 23:02

Oh yes, I hope scooby's husband is home safe. Fingers and everything else crossed.
figgy you need to luck your DH's arse. Man up! Get a grip! Welcome to parenthood! As for KIT days, I enjoyed them, it felt good to have an opinion that counted for something. Enjoy. And you and your LO will be fine.
awch everyone loves bubbles! A bit of washing up liquid isn't going to hurt. (and when the eye-friendly bubble-juice runs out, you'll be filling up with fairy when they are toddlers!)
aethel you say it sounds like they're permanently eating, but your plan sounds like a rest! When he's with me, Ali feeds every 2-3 hours. (although, sssh, he's been asleep for 2.5hrs so far. :) )
dsm I'll get back to you with my "walking up the aisle" music, is that what you want? (I chose a piece from the soundtrack of "meet Joe black" I'll find a link tomorrow. It's lovely, it starts gently (enter the bridesmaids) then builds to a crescendo (you enter) then calms as you walk the walk. :)
Otherwise our first dance was one day like this, elbow, because that's what we fell in live too (shame it became so massively popular with everyone else too!)
For our dance with parents I chose "the air that I breathe" (sometimes - all I need is the...) because I've always thought it was am azing live song, and my parents love it too. Dad was really touched. To kick off the disco, I chose black eyed peas, tonight's gonna be a good night. Which is a great (cheesy) pop tune, and all your guests will think about a great party, and you and DH will be thinking of consummating the marriage when everyone's gone home! Grin

OiMissus · 11/06/2012 23:04

And please excuse the spelling mistakes! X

seven77 · 12/06/2012 01:11

LittleMissFlustered · 12/06/2012 02:06

seven I'm here. Just too tired to post regularly. Still feeding at least twice a night. DH due back in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed I can hold out until then. Thanks for thinking of me.

LittleMissFlustered · 12/06/2012 02:39

Home stretch now scooby :)

I could just go a bottle of fizzy water with an orange squeezed into it. Daft body.

hawthers · 12/06/2012 07:25

Phew f managed to get to 3.30! Thank god.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 12/06/2012 07:26

Sky was up at 1:30 for a bottle Sad how can I get her to drop that feed? She already has 4 x 7oz bottles & 3 meals a day

Figgygal · 12/06/2012 08:13

Stuck in traffic haven't missed this!!

Left lo with daddy for breakfast before the childminder comes to pick him up. Got I organised and out of house on time hopefully everything will go well today.

Aethel thanks For the feeding plan will get it r into place tomorrow and see how we get on.

OiMissus · 12/06/2012 08:13

BOi went down at 8.30pm, woke at 11.45, 1.30, 3.30 and 5.30am. But it didn't feel so bad as he slept in his cot, so my in-between sleeps were better.
He's not himself at the minute. SIL said he'd been upset quite a lot. When I picked him up last night, everytime I left the room he started bawling. I hope he'll be OK at nursery. I've told them to call me if he's off colour, if I need to get him checked out, it'd be better today before i leave.
Did I already say that we aren't moving next week? :( The local searches are delayed.
scooby 2 weeks to go. Great news. :)
OK, had rice krispies, now for the caffeine injection.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 12/06/2012 08:25

Scooby 2 Weeks to go that's fab. Hopefully it will fly by. Smile

Oi Hope BOi is ok? I think all the babies are going thru a clingy phase as Sky is not impressed when I leave the room.
Thanks for your music - we need any suggestions and not just for ceremony. Smile

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2012 09:16

Hi
How.do i find a sencory baby group where i am?

The photo on fb looks so cool i would really like to take Hope.

mopsytop · 12/06/2012 10:06

Hi all had written post and it got list somehow gah!

Minimopsy woke up every hour on the hour :( feel really tired.

She has been crying a lot on the bottle the past few days and then burping and sicking up baby curd. That usually stopped her crying for a bit until the next burp was due but she's been getting worse. She's just cried non stop on her feed and keeps crying after burp/sick but still finished her bottle in between. Still crying though. Could it be reflux? Is it normal to start at 6 mths? Cd it bs sth to do with introducing solids? She doesn't take more than a teaspoon a day. I don't know how to help her and she's obviously upset/in pain. Anything similar or any advice anyone?

OiMissus · 12/06/2012 10:45

dsm I think I walked up the aisle to "Cold lamb sandwich" sounds romantic, huh? itunes.apple.com/gb/album/meet-joe-black-original-motion/id311818126 either that, or the next place... can't remember. why won't itunes let you play the whole piece?
