honey normal is 36.0 -37.4 degrees. So what you describe isn't a fever at all. I tend to dress them lighter if they have a minor temp (37.5 - 37.9) and medicate them if they hit 38 degrees plus, or if they aren't feverish but seem to be grumpy/in pain. good luck with it!

oi colds are a default state for second/third children and nursery-goers, won't affect development at all.

Grotty wet day here.

mopsytop · 11/06/2012 09:59

Under the weather little bean so going to have a duvet day. Hope you ladies are all doing well! honey have fun at the Eden project, it'll be lovely and cosy in the biospheres if you've the same horrid weather down there that we have! How can it be June!? Brrrr

Really sympathising with you aethel and Oi and any other frequent feeders-I have to get up several times a night to settle minim and I find that tiring enough, never mind having to feed her-I feel v fortunate that she no longer needs a night feed as I'd be even more tired. Getting up 5+ times a night to settle her feels bad enough. Don't know how you cope at work Oi or with two other kids aethel!

Figgygal · 11/06/2012 10:51

I've missed out on a lot the last week or so as figgyboy has had a cough even though I know he can't give it to anyone as he's had it so long will be 2 weeks tomorrow though it is a lot better. It's definitely hard to know what to go for the best with Los and especially the disapproving looks from others mums.

Lo also screamed for his daddy last night
I'd asked him to take him up get him dressed for bed while I ate dinner and he just freaked out and screamed until I came and took him. We know for whatever reason he won't let dh do bedtime (though hes trying again tonight) but he wasn't even doing that, dh will just have to change more nappies I think Grin

He slept until 5am this morning which feels like progress, getting him weighed this afternoon really don't want to go out in this rain again!!

GeeandTee · 11/06/2012 10:56

I'm just going out for the day and my boobs are packed too Grin

hawthers · 11/06/2012 11:06

After another awful night from f. Up at 10.30, 3, 5 and 6. But dropped DS1 at nursery and f fell asleep on the way back. I went back to bed and got two more hours sleep! Feel human again. Got to Di something about his sleep...

Rashkakeller · 11/06/2012 11:32

Poor you, Hawthers (and other sleep deprived mummies) - it's no fun so fingers crossed it changes soon! Glad you got chance for a nap, it's all you can do, go back to when he sleeps, you sleep! How often is ds1 at nursery?

Well dd decided our Sunday plans just weren't exciting enough so fell off our armchair, cracking her head open on dp's record player! Dp went into a bit of a panic and wanted to call an ambulance because of all the blood but I said it looked worse than it was due to loads of blood vessels so we drove to A&E. Very annoying that our town A&E shut years ago so we have to travel half an hour to our nearest - particularly as had to leave her in the back by herself because of ds' carseat. No way my fat arse would fit between the 2 seats in my car!! We only had to wait 10/15 minutes which was great, and dd was very brave when had her head washed and glued.

She's been full of beans since, jumping all over the shop so im turning into a nervous wreck! I washed her hair this morning in a fashion but some hair is glued into the gash - any advice? I guess I just leave it until the glue goes?

Ds slept through the entire thing, bless him - think it was his way of helping haha

Aiming for a quiet day today, dd will watch tv, ds will lie on his mat and I will catch up with the papers .....and back in the room...it's nice to be optimistic, no? We have dd's dancing class this pm so another opportunity for me to be over-protective.

OiMissus · 11/06/2012 11:52

Been out and bought pads. and bought yet another sippy cup thing. as it holds 300 ml and I couldn't bear the expense of more storage bags. (I'd just bought a pack of 40 when you advised about the containers.) 300ml will have to do for today. Not sure how sanitised it is though. Hmm
Poor DD rashka - glad she was unfazed by the incident. :)
I'm beginning to think that he's a frequent feeder because I'm there - especially as we're co-sleeping. He can probably just smell me. I'm crossing fingers that when he gets his own room, he'll settle better, and sleep longer. Am i kidding myself?!
We'll put it to the test this week, I guess. :(

hawthers · 11/06/2012 12:44

For those blw, can I just give DS2 a slice of apple? Skin on skin off?

aethelfleda · 11/06/2012 12:47

oi, DS still fed two hourly last night despite moving rooms... But that's one night and one baby, I'm sure boi will be better behaved!

rash, I had to drop DD2 off to school with her steristrips and huge black eye from the weekend's waterslide "incident", it's par for the course!! Had a lovely natter with an eighty-year-old while feeding Ds in the swimming pool coffee shop, I told her of DD2's mishap and she remarked sagely "well, you're not supposed to admit it nowadays but some of the little ones just ARE accident prone, aren't they?!" I totally agree with her (having been like that myself it's not hard to recognise!!)

Usual nap refusal at this end, he's just conked so will make brief attrmpt to put-him-d-o-w-n.....

OiMissus · 11/06/2012 13:10

Sssshhh! am attempting self-delusion.
EVERYTHING will be better when we get into our new house.
I will be tidier
I will be better organised
My spots will magically disappear
I'll get back into a better regime
We will eat better/more healthier food

On a related note, just received a strange message from the estate agent. The sellers aren't sure yet what they are leaving/taking... The deal was that I'll remove their rubbish if they leave the good stuff (ie the dining table!). I have a feeling that we'll move into a house full of crap, with a few bits of furniture that we didn't want in the first place.

I also just received a phonecall from DH. SIL - who has BOi today - had called him, "We're in town, baby1 is getting his haircut, shall we get BOi's done whilst we're here". DH said, "I check with Oi". Oi nearly bloody hit the roof. If anyone touches a hair on his head without me being there to get in the way and completely overreact then I will kill them.
So spaketh the Missus!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/06/2012 13:25

Rash Glad DD is okay and seemed unfazed by it.

Hawthers Apple is fine and I prefer skin on Smile

Oi Shock That anyone would think of cutting BOi's hair.

Sky is ready for football and had her breakfast & lunch and now just having a bottle Smile

mopsytop · 11/06/2012 14:26

Oh no! You can't let bOi's hair be cut Oi! I wish minim had more hair, she's still pretty baldy!!

aethelfleda · 11/06/2012 15:18

oi, at least DH and DSil rang, and didn't just turn up saying "he's got this reeeealy cute blue mohican now...."

And if it's really the table you want, I would ring back the estate agents and say "we'll either take the table plus will dispose of any other junk you leave as payment OR we'll give you £100 for the table but you have to take everything else. Your choice." then at least you will get a table out of it. Worst case scenario is they try to push you up on price.

I do skin off with apple chunks as my DDs used to hurl up any skin bits.

jigglebum · 11/06/2012 15:22

hi- hope all the dcs with their accidents mend soon; I am dreading my first A and E visit. Knackered here today and loads to do to clear up after the christening and to sort out for holiday on weds. Christening went well - well, weather was shite but we hired the church hall so that wasnt a problem; Freya was extremely noisy and cried at the water being poured over her and DS had to leave a bit early as he has been ill and had a relapse! but it all seemed fine at the time.

had family staying on sat and lots of people back here afterwards so house is a tip and on 3rd load of washing. ds seems better and has been really good at playing by himself but f is not playing ball - hardly sleeping at all in the day now and cries a lot before going to sleep so struggling to get everything done, best stop MNing and try again.

OiMissus · 11/06/2012 15:29

aethel you're right. I'll be lucky (knowing DH's family) if he doesn't come home with a stencil chav cut of a nike tick, or some such nastiness!
Solicitor's just called, there's a delay on teh searches, looks like we won't complete on Monday. We're going down to Somerset for 4/5 days hols on Weds or Thurs, so we won't move in now until the 28th as I have meetings Mon-Weds. :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/06/2012 15:50

We are home after getting soaked on school run. Watching The Smurfs waiting for the football to start: Come on England!

seven77 · 11/06/2012 15:56

oi how frustrating! I agree with aethel you may have to just ask for the table directly. What's so great about this table anyway?

rash sounds horrific, glad she's ok.

Weather has been awful here, DH did a 10k run before work and came home drenched! Tesco is coming tonight with everything for DS BBQ on Wednesday, he's 4 on Thursday and we're going to the zoo. Tomorrow night I need to attemp to make a space shuttle cake, I'll post the results on the fb group.

Has anyone heard from scooby, when was her DH meant to be home?

Figgygal · 11/06/2012 16:15

Shit DS is now on the 99th line at 22lbs 2 at least he's on 91st for height. I need to drop his milk feeds to around 20 oz a day hes still on almost double that Confused really not sure how to do it without him screaming all day and night. does anyone have a strategy I can follow?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/06/2012 16:29

Figgy Did you HV tell you how to stop him screaming in hunger then? He'll even out once he's on the move!

hawthers · 11/06/2012 17:00

So having thought that getting DS2 to nap better would help him sleeping at night, I'm now worried he has slept too long today.... I can't win...

aethelfleda · 11/06/2012 17:16

Figgy, if he's always been big it may just be him. Many babies are chubbers until they start crawling/cruising, and then when they walk they literally drop a trouser size. My DD2 was a very chubby baby, and now she's four she still eats like a horse but bombs around everywhere and you can count her ribs (you're meant to be able to at this age apparently!)

Seriously, halving his milk is not likely to happen, and anyway, I thought that until a year babies need approx 600-700 ml of milk daily (that's 21-28 fluid ounces)I gave both mine four x 7 oz bottles a day at this stage....

mopsytop · 11/06/2012 17:37

figgy, my baby takes 35oz a day! 5x 7oz bottles a day. She's 50th centile. I didn't think that was too much? How could you go down to 20oz? Crazy. He's always been high centile, not sure I'd pay too much heed to the hv ...

mopsytop · 11/06/2012 17:38

Also does that mean I'm giving too much to minim?

seven77 · 11/06/2012 17:40

figgy if he's on the 91st for height it sounds like he is just big, also remember that anywhere between the centiles is considered normal! How many solid meals does he have a day? Eva is on 3 meals a day and rarely leaves any. She doesn't always finish her bottles but I make 4 8oz bottles a day plus an extra 3oz in her breakfast porridge, and she's a good 6lb lighter than figgyboy. If you think you do need to reduce his milk you'll only manage it by increasing solids, but then I guess it depends how much he's having already.

aethel I was going to ask when I should be starting to increase the amount of solids I offer?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/06/2012 17:52

Sky has 4-5 7oz bottles a day plus 3 meals. However, is on the 25th centile for weight & height. I think Figgyboy is just a big boy. He'll soon even out when he's on the move Smile

We are watching the football Grin
