Grrr is it acceptable to want to throw haddocks at my employer? I applied for a promotion but also let them know that I would need plenty of notice of time and date of the interview so that I can arrange childcare and that if possible having an interview at either beginning or end of day as it would make it easier.

They phone today- midday on the 15th. I wouldn't be cross if it was for a company I didn't know etc, but i've worked for them for a fair few years now so was hoping they might be a little bit accomodating. HR won't change the time but my manager is going to see what she can do.

Times likes this I wish I lived closer to my family as I know my parents would be able to and want to help out :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/05/2012 12:45

BJR As you have worked there for a few years, they should of been a little more accommodating. Did HR give you a reason why they couldn't accommodate your request?

AF has arrived, my whole body aches from painting my nan's lounge yesterday and i'm shattered :( DP is moaning he has got razor blades down his throat so it will be a fun weekend in the DSM household Hmm

seven77 · 11/05/2012 14:05

DSM OU course sounds like a great idea. Hope your weekend is better than you're expecting.

BJR that's pretty bad of your employer considering you've been there a few years. Haddocking of employers is perfectly acceptable.

LMF wishing a poosplosion on you soon!

So far today I've got the washing done, on the line and nearly dry, done the hoovering and made a big batch of squash purée. Eva has nappy rash, only seems to be caused by poo though. I to change her as soon as I realise she's been but even so all the skin which has come into contact with poo is bright red. I'm covering it in bepanthen and it looks ok by the time I change the next wet nappy but then she poos again and it's back to being bright red. She currently rolling around with no nappy on, can I do anything else? DS never had nappy rash so I'm a bit clueless as a second timer!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/05/2012 14:07

Seven Nowt you can do re nappy rash except continue what you are doing tbh. Thanks. I hope my weekend is better too.

Had a look on the OU website and nothing I can see in regards to Administrator/Practice Management degree - will have to look in depth a bit more.

LittleMissFlustered · 11/05/2012 14:14

seven Try metanium cream. It's impossible harder to scrub off than bepanthen and I always found it a more effective barrier. It's also a pretty yellow colour

Sky man been and gone, telephone man here. I'm about to be back in the land of broadband:o

DSM if you can't find what you need on the OU website for them a ring. When I had some questions a few years ago they were very helpful:)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/05/2012 14:37

Thanks LMF Will do it in Monday Smile

MimsyBorogroves · 11/05/2012 15:14

seven I'd second metanium - it's absolutely brilliant. I've started using Burt's Bees bum cream as a preventative, and that seems to work so far.

EasilyBored · 11/05/2012 16:45

seven I always find sudacreme clears it up quickly, but other than a cream and lots of fresh air, there's not much to be done. You can get those maternity/puppy training mats that are about a 1 mt square, and just let the little one thrash around on that with a bare bum for a couple of days?

We just had Poomageddon. Fcking Jumperoo. He had two little poos this morning, and I was thinking he might be a bit bunged up as it had been a couple of days. Anyway, I'm in the kitchen for a couple of minutes, come back to find DS looking worryingly pleased with himself. Pick him up out of the Jumperoo and ponder why his jeans seem a tad damp for a half second, then I smell it. It managed to remain contained within his clothes, so the seat didn't need washing (gave it a good wipe with dettol just in case), but it was EVERYWHERE. Up his vest, down his jeans, on his socks. By the time I get him striped down, it's all over me too. I had to hold him over the bath and shower him down (discovered he HATES the shower too). Ruined two towels too as I must have missed a bit when hosing him down. I feel like the whole house is going to stink of baby shit forever. Got the washing on now so fingers crossed I can salvage some of his clothes and my towels. OH, and* he vommed all over my dressing gown this morning.

ANYWAY! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

OiMissus · 11/05/2012 17:01

Our house purchase has fallen through. Sad I'm ok. Really. Pissed off at being pissed about. Pissed off at knowing we'll be in this crappy rented house for longer. So it's back to square one.
Positives:
We have an agreed mortgage.
We're in the position to move.
We've got a good deposit.
We can spoil ourselves and spend some money this weekend as we are no longer having to scrape every penny together to buy this particular house.
I've bought Ali a tiger hand puppet which he loves.
I've bought me some White chocolate mice, which I love, and makes me feel better.

Visited my friend with her new baby, Zac. He is tiny. Just 8lb now. It was incredible to see the difference in size, although Ali was never that small - but not far off. We went to the clinic together so I got Ali weighed - 17lb 11. Grin

BJR · 11/05/2012 17:17

Sorry to hear about the house Oi, hopefully it just means that you can find something even better :)

Apparently work respond well to Haddocks, after initially saying there was no way they could change the interview they have managed to sort it out for a time that I could cover. Now I just need to get my brain back into work mode, hmm and figure out what to wear ...

GeeandTee · 11/05/2012 17:20

Sorry about the house oi. Hopefully there is one out there for that is just as nice and you won't have to stretch for?

I really liked the house I saw, could definitely see us in there but don't think the bedroom layout would work for us. Not sure if its worth DH seeing the house tomorrow or not. Always good to have a comparison but don't want to waste time when it is going to be a beautiful day tomorrow, apparently.

DD has now decided on daily pooplosions rather than weekly. They're just as explosive so wish she would go back to weekly again!

AWomanCalledHorse · 11/05/2012 17:23

Massive hugs Oi, how shitty! I love that you're being positive about it...fingers crossed something works out for you soon.

Haddocks for your employer BJR

DSM, how's the headpiece? Good luck finding stuff at the OU, I was about to start a course with them last year..then I got pg & couldn't do anything think-y for 9 months.

Easily fingers are crossed for safe towels!

Being the organised person I am, DS has his own towel stock (all our manky white ones) so he can pee, poo, dribble & sick on them as much as he wants.
DS isn't happy, he bit his tongue earlier. Silly boy, stupid painful tooth!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

OiMissus · 11/05/2012 17:47

Another positive: ( and this deserves a drum roll)
Ali has just rolled from back to front!!! Grin

Glad work are being more cooperative BJR. good luck for the interview and finding clothes!
good luck with the house-hunting gee

MimsyBorogroves · 11/05/2012 18:29

Woohoo, well done BOi!

Easily - Sprog is in the jumperoo and I too have just heard the delightful sound of an assplosion. I daren't look.

seven77 · 11/05/2012 18:30

Thanks all, will aim to get metanium tomorrow if my useless chemist havent run out

So sorry oi first Springfield and now this one falling through.
Cheer yourselves up by house hunting for something even better. I recommend rightmove and wine!

seven77 · 11/05/2012 18:31

I'm very thankful we don't have a jumperoo!

MissRee · 11/05/2012 19:01

Good luck with the interview BJR! glad to hear they managed to change it to a more convenient time!

I wish we had a jumperoo Mimsy! Freya has a door bouncer but it doesn't seem to be very bouncy Sad possibly becauseit was F's cousins first so has already been abused by two babies! She seems to like it anyway, even though she just kind of dangles rather than bounces!!

Sorry to hear the house fell through Oi. I'm a firm believer in Que sera sera... there's obviously a much better house just waiting for you to buy it. I know how stressful it can be though.

aethelfleda · 11/05/2012 19:05

You're not really selling the jumperoo here, girls!! We have an oldfashioned blowup Galt baby ring that DS is almost sitting in (he still leans too far forward for a proper "sit" but is Ok propped). It's nice to take into the garden on the rare days that the weather is nice.

Having had an abysmal night last night, DS has managed two 15 min snoozes all day, so conked out at 6.30. dDs are playing upstairs and I am torn between tidying up, preparing food and zonking on the sofa til DH gets home.. I think option three will win....

Sorry to hear about the house oi, hope you hadn't wasted too much cash on it, and hope that a better one is just around the corner. And well done Boi!

AnAirOfHope · 11/05/2012 19:10

We have a jumparoo its in the garage dh is going to find it out tomoro yay

oi sorry about the house falling thru but its fate so that you find an even better forever dream home for your family :)

DSM have fun at the dress shop trying your head gear out.

mopsytop · 11/05/2012 19:48

Bummer about house Oi. But like the others say, there is surely somewhere even better waiting for you! Still, it's a right pisser :(

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well. Sorry not name checking but EXHAUSTED after a week of TERRIBLE sleeps and 2 days work. Need sofa and wine!

Rashkakeller · 11/05/2012 19:58

Well done, BOi! Can you have a word with my ds, I think I have a lazy boy! Sorry house fell through, Oi, pita but hopefully you will find your dream home soon. Enjoy the choc!

Good luck for the interview, BJR - I'm so out of work mode, will have to arrange some kit days at some point.

Easily you have my sympathy, it was poo central round here yesterday! And on Tuesday, I let ds have some nappy free time on a towel and he did I turbo poo that covered the towel and the carpet. Our carpet is grim anyway, I seriously need to vax it!

I've had a lovely day, relaxing facial and saw the Avengers this afternoon. Ds has clearly caught that disease doing the rounds - wonttakeabottleitis - had 1oz of ebm and 1oz of formula during the 6 hours I was away. He's fed 4 times since getting back and is now down for the night...hopefully!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 11/05/2012 20:19

Oi Sorry the house fell thru. Well Done to BOi for rolling back to front Smile

AWCH Thanks, will ring OU on Monday to find out more.

So glad we don't have a jumperoo by the sounds of it they are messy causing contraptions Grin

My headpiece is gorgeous and goes fab with my dress Grin just need to find something for my neck now!

Darcie's in bed, I'm just feeding Sky her last bottle as DP was lovely enough to get her cleaned up and ready for bed whilst I was out Smile then BGT and sleep Grin
