LMFoh no! I hope Octoboy isn't too bad, pox or otherwise.

Sympathies to all with bad nights, it was terrible here too. DS has gone from one night feed, which could have been as late as 5, to two for the last couple of nights. Last night he woke at 12.20 and I felt so awful I could barely drag myself out of bed. He was back down by 1 but I felt so ill I couldn't get back to sleep. Then DD started crying out from 1.45. DH kept going and trying to settle her, and in the end brought her into our bed at 3. To be fair to her she then went spark out and didn't clamber all over me like she normally does, but I still couldn't sleep and was still awake when DS woke for another feed at 4.20. I finally managed to doze a bit from 5, but DH's alarm went off at 5.45 and then DD woke at 6.30, so tired doesn't cover it.

Been to GP and have Erythromycin so hope I'll start to feel better soon. DD at nursery so I get a relative rest, but a nap is unlikely due to the boy who doesn't do daytime sleep.

Weather is lovely and I'm stuck indoors feeling sorry for myself. Still, at least I now have two excuses to eat lots of ice-cream!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/05/2012 11:16

Kate Can you go & sit in the garden whilst feeling sorry for yourself?

Been swimming & now at sensory class.

aethelfleda · 22/05/2012 11:18

Am sat in the garden, sun shining, feeding DS on our shady patio, looking at all the weeds that I've not had time to clear due to the enormous and neverending piles of washing my lot generate. Plus DS is in a carry-me-around sort of mood so I can't really bend to weed if I put him in the sling. Oh well, weeds are green so it's all nature, innit...,
Have worked out that I'm about 2/3 through my mat leave, it's that hinterland where I want to get back, but don't want to all at the same time. Motherhood is just one huge treadmil of making-do, excuses and guilt sometimes, isn't it! (have totally given up on bottles since Friday kate, any progress your end?)

In other news DS is loving his puree....but is continuing to gum me as his teeth move ever closer...ouch!

msbuggywinkle · 22/05/2012 11:32

Sunshiiiiiiine! Hurray!

I'm getting the paddling pool out today! And going to the beach on Saturday!

aethel I love my weeds! They are useful too. I eat lots of mine.

kate poor you! Ice cream sounds eminently sensible.

may have had a Penguin biscuit for breakfast

KateM77 · 22/05/2012 11:32

No progress with bottles here either aethel. I'll carry on this week, but then we go holiday Sat so I won't bother taking everything with us then if still no progress. I'll start him on solids when we get back and will see if he's more accepting of the bottle after that.

DSM I may venture into the garden later, but mostly want to be horizontal on the sofa. Doors open as a compromise

LittleMissFlustered · 22/05/2012 11:46

It's a bit bright out. I'm a pasty white shadow loving girl by nature and this has thrown me. Must procure sunblock and a wheeled marquee hat.

OP posts:
DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/05/2012 11:49

Shame you can't lay flat on a sun lounger!
Hoping you feel better soon xx

aethelfleda · 22/05/2012 12:38

Love the idea of a wheeled marquee! I do have an all-leg enveloping skirt or ten that closely resemble bell tents, however they are generally a bit goffick and so have nooks crannies and lacey bits that are
A baaad combo with potential baby sick.

Note I was sat in the shade: me and direct sunlight are not friends as I tend to do a Wicked Witch of the West if uv actually hits me at any p

aethelfleda · 22/05/2012 12:44

At any point (I'm meeeltinggg!!)

DS is looking all summery in his little wool shorties . They are v cute though. These ones were from Little Pants Nappies "kingfisher" colour shorties. link

LittleMissFlustered · 22/05/2012 13:27

I'm rocking the wide legged black troos, black vest and black undies. My mind tends toward the goff, my body tends toward the fat though >_< Wink

Custom shorties sound eminently fan. I'll justify them for you. You can't argue with mumsnet approval, it's the rules that I just made up so there:o

We're loving the sunshine with all of the windows open, I've been out in the garden cleaning out the guinea pigs this morning.

I didnt take Eva's sickyness into account when choosing to give her a jar containing fish for lunch. She smells of a combo of sick, fish and tomatoes and it's pretty grim.

kate hope you feel better soon.

hawthers · 22/05/2012 14:09

Am so proud

We had one massive poo in the potty this morning and no wee accidents!! And he's been wearing pants and trousers all day. Little bear has done so well.

DS2 has napped really well today (pah si he would as he didn't sleep last night). Should I wake him or just let him kip on?

Sun is shining and life doesn't seem so bad when it's warm.

Figgygal · 22/05/2012 14:14

I'm melting it's 27 degrees here lo is leaping around in his jumperoo in just his nappy and I'm dying on the floor. We went out for a massive walk this morning I had to apply his factor 50 to my face as was burning.

I'm a pale skinned scot I don't do heat well Grin

KateM77 · 22/05/2012 14:35

hawthers for DS1. So pleased to hear you're having a better day.

DH on his way home from work ill. Seems he's caught my tonsillitis Sad

I've been pushing DS in his buggy for 40 mins and he won't go to sleep, but grumbles if the motion stops. I ache all over and just want to lie down

hawthers · 22/05/2012 15:25

Poor you kate hope you feel better soon.

OiMissus · 22/05/2012 15:30

Hurrah for hawther's Little bear!
Fantastic news! I'll try and remember this in a couple of years when BOi and I hit that wall and I'm losing faith. Success is just around the corner. Of course, there will be more accidents, but keep the faith! :)
Am very jealous of your sunny tales.
Today I am sporting a dark grey trouser suit with a dull beige top. Ain't no sunshine in my office. Have been oblivious to the change in climate, so BOi is in combats and a long sleeved top, and I didn't put a sun hat in his nursery bag, or sun cream. Will check the forecast for tomorrow and dress him appropriately. Although he's at my mum's tomorrow and so can sunbathe in his nappy.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/05/2012 15:30

I feel like I'm physically melting, it's so hot. Need to invest in a sunshine shade thing for the buggy, hard to keep Sky out of the sun without one, but don't get paid till next week Sad

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/05/2012 15:32

Hawthers Pom poms for Little Bear Smile

Kate hope you & DH get better soon.

Oi I'm assuming there is no sun where you are to e wearing a trouser suit!

msbuggywinkle · 22/05/2012 17:10

Eurgh...I have relapsed. Had stomach cramps all afternoon.

Bless DD1 though, she has cooked pasta sauce for dinner later and is now doing the dishes 'because Mama isn't well'. She is a star.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/05/2012 17:17

MsBuggy Feel better. Bless DS1 for fixing dinner Smile

Fish bake for dinner. DP has taken DD1 swimming. I'm feeding DD2, who seems nice and chilled considering the heat and the fact her teeth are giving her jip! Although she is just in her nappy!

Can't sit in the garden yet as not got the parasol out, so will be getting DP to get that out when he gets home ready for tomorrow so Sky & I can sunbathe Grin

MissRee · 22/05/2012 18:32

Just heard from Dad and it's another prolapsed disc from the sound of things. They're organising an urgent MRI scan to get a better idea.

I have a total snot monster here, complete with dodgy nappies from swallowed snot. Other than calpol and olbas oil on a tissue strategically placed, is there anything else I can do for her?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 22/05/2012 18:46

MissRee If it's another prolapsed disc will they have to operate urgently if he is paralysed?!

MissRee · 22/05/2012 18:54

He's got some mobility back but one of his legs is completely numb again. They're booking an urgent MRI and because it's BUPA, I suspect he'll be in for the op latest by next week. His consultant is amazing though and one of the top in the country. With the 6 week recovery, he'll be well within the timescale for full pension if he gets ill health retirement which is great and means he'll potentially be freya's childminder when I go back to work

NorthernChinchilla · 22/05/2012 19:51

Today's been a treat as I've worked from home. Spent the first part of it dressed a la Oi, for a meeting, and then came home to do the rest. So was able to have little breaks with DS in the garden in the sun!

However, to make up for this I am locked in a dark room all tomorrow doing an inspection... Sad

Good news on DS- he had his hospital appointment today, and the funny hole above his bum was just a cocchleah (sp?) pit, so no need to operate, yay!

AND, AND, he also rolled from back to front twice. I was working on the computer on the floor, I'd just put him down and turned round and he was on his front- and then he did it again to prove it!

DP says he may have done it before but he's just forgotten to tell me Confused...

Sorry for all the crappy nights, I hope that the heat doesn't make it a problem tonight.
And get well soon Kate - I had appalling recurrent tonsilitis and they finally took the rotten things out when I was 21, so I sympathise. You are doing well to cope with DCs and that as well.

Hope they're keeping your Dad's pain under control MissRee, and fingers crossed he gets his op soon.

aethelfleda · 22/05/2012 20:11

Hey northern that's fab! It's coccyxgeal I think...very good news and must be a big relief for you and DP.

Oh poor Kate, may your tonsilar bugs curl up and whimper with the antibiotics (and hope DCs give you a break overnight too!)

Hope your dad's scan/surgery goes OK misree, at least he's in good hands.

Poor msb, we really are a biohazard thread at the moment!

Am sat on sofa reading and MNing and trying to avoid a squillion household tasks: DH is out late with a work dinner so am wavering between doing stuff and going to bed early. Hmmm. What would Johnny Depp do?
