Supposed to be doing some pre-course research/reading for an acupuncture course this weekend, but finding mumsnet far more engaging. Course lasts for 3 days; don't know if my brain will take it. Currently at my parents who are going to look after the boys. As DS2 is finally taking a bottle (keep going aethel and kitty!) I can leave them without too much stress. Parents are then taking the 3 of us to Majorca for 10 days, then's it's only 1 more month to go until DH is back!

Oi really hope you get the house.
Rash bath, wine, iPod and book - that is multi tasking!

OiMissus · 18/05/2012 21:54

Just 1 month left already?! I hope it has passed quickly for you. Enjoy Majorca! I love Majorca. Smile
Cheers for the buttons. Can I offer some toffee cookies? Or, before that, a slice if garlic ciabatta?
Garlic? ...and bread?!! Whatever next?!
BOi has only just gone to sleep. Wine only just been poured.
Good luck aethel! Grin

BJR · 18/05/2012 22:01

There are some lovely beaches is South Wales Rash hopefully the weather will be nice and you'll have a nice break. Where abouts in South Wales are you going?

Good luck with the course Scooby, I have to do a course for work in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to seeing if my brain will keep up with it!

Hugs LMF hope you're looking after yourself and good that you've noticed how you're feeling, its always a good start.

Good luck with no boob zone Aethel

Having a nice chilled out evening with wine and DP. Had a lovely Mummy moment earlier, was giving DS a cuddle before I put him to bed. Was singing to him and stroking his face, and he opened his eyes and reached up and started stroking my face back until he fell asleep. Made me feel very soppy and broody :)

NorthernChinchilla · 18/05/2012 22:18

Oh, wibble, that's made me feel soppy and broody too BJR. I love the fact I get to cuddle a naked chubby five month old in the morning, then feed him to sleep in the evening. DS has got less 'windmill-y', and then when he falls asleep and I carry him upstairs and pop him in his cot and give him a kiss or 97, it's just sooooo lurvely.

BOi has been a dirty stop up then Oi?! (Sorry, just realised how weird that looks written down, it was a common phrase up North!)

I can't believe it's only a month as well Scooby, blimey.

Good luck tonight aethel, fingers crossed. I'm sure your DH will cope, and I just hope DS decides tonight is the night.

Hope you feel OK over the weekend LMF- can you go to the Docs and get something for it, or is it something that you just power through?

Extreme cake baking and bathroom cleaning tomorrow (let's really hope I don't get any of the items confused) and curry for dinner, then DP's birthday on Sunday!

seven77 · 18/05/2012 23:00

northern what makes the cake baking extreme?!

BJR your post made me well up, it appears I've gone soft!

Enjoy the course scooby, and the holiday, brilliant that your DH will be home soon. Do you get long before he gets posted somewhere else?

I've just had two glasses out of one of the bottles of wi e I ought girtlmorrosnichr, whoops!

seven77 · 18/05/2012 23:01

That should have read wine I bought for tomorrow night, I think that beats any of your phones autocorrects lmf!

Rashkakeller · 18/05/2012 23:36

Ah in bed with a cuppa now! So rock n roll (glad I'm not out, it's pissing it down!)

BJR that's so sweet! I love it when ds' little hand rests on my arm, hand, boob or when he clasps my fingers or those stupid loops of ribbon that keeps your tops on the hanger I'm going to miss it so much, although dd at the sprightly age of 3 enjoys a cuddle or ten :)

We're going Trecco Bay, near Porthcawl. It's a Parkdean site so there's a pool and softplay for the kids and a pub for us! And we can walk to Porthcawl via the beach. Looking forward to it, hoping to get reasonable weather but we'll venture out regardless.

Scooby Your hols sounds great, a break in the sun, some extra hands to help with the children and dh due back soon after! Perfect! We went to Majorca a couple of years ago, to a place beginning with A...Alcudia? I get it mixed up with the place not far from mums which is Alicante...I think haha

Extreme baking... I have visions of Northern abseiling down her kitchen wall while whisking up a storm!

Anyway, dp is due home pie eyed soon so better pretend to be asleep. Can't do conversation with a drunk when im sober!

BJR · 19/05/2012 02:51

Ah I though it might be Trecco Bay when you said South Wales (sorry for being nosy!) I grew up in Porthcawl and my parents still live there so I know it very well. Hope you have a lovely holiday :)

hawthers · 19/05/2012 03:27

Checking in on the night shift. Pom pond for the babies who are getting the hang of sleep and haddocks for the variouso illnesses.

sco0by great news your DH is returning

rash we had an amazing holiday in cardigan bay last year we spent every day on the beach - hope you have a lovely time.

oi still chsmping at the bit for you for the lovely house.

lmf be kind to yourself, you are doing an amazing job on your own

aethel well done on the deep clean - hope the itchiness eases.

On phone so can't check back and can't remember any more sorry!

In our news we ate starting DS1's potty training tomorrow. Anyone got any tip tips? I've got the mumsnet potty boot camp and some fancy pants so fingers crossed...

LittleMissFlustered · 19/05/2012 04:15

My neighbour decided to play loud dance music for fifteen minutes... The older kids have slept through it so I'm not going to go postal, but if it happens again words will be had.

Octoboy went 8-3:45 :o

The buttons are giant ones scooby

Hope your night has been peaceful aethel

Right, going to finish feeding then try to ignore the sodding birds telling each other all about it.

See you on the other side:)

jigglebum did you have a house to sell when you were looking for 18 months? Difficult to know when to put ours on the market as estate agent thinks it would sell quickly, but no guarantees, so don't really want to put it on and have to keep it mega tidy with 2 DCs and put up with viewings when we haven't seen anything we like. And we're very specifici about area so not a great deal to choose from at thw moment. We're not in any rush to move but then again if we do find something we like we're not in a good position to make an offer if we're not even on the market. Its a difficult one. Anybody got any suggestions?

aethel hope DS made it to boob o'clock.

lmf hope mood swings settle down.

scooby I can't believe it's a month to go either. Enjoy your hols.

Brain not working so forgotten who else is off on holiday and all the other name-checking I was going to do. Sorry!

aethelfleda · 19/05/2012 06:56

Morning

Am now de-toxified and feeding DS again, thanks everyone! It was fortunately OK. DS slept from 8-12, I tippietoed to the spare room and has a luxurious 5 hours sleep (bliss!)! dH took him at midnight and he took an oz of breastmilk (kate, I got sOme no 3 teats, he seemed to like em) and when his thirst was quenched he got fussy, then settled down. Then he slept til 4.30. I pumped at 10 and 4, and went back to our room at 4.30 to feed him. So we're all good. Ds has his bit of the medicine this morning, then we all repeat in 2 weeks time.

Anyone elses LO got teeth yet? I think it's just AWCH?

NorthernChinchilla · 19/05/2012 08:22

Hah, yes, running up and down the walls armed to the teeth with a whisk and wooden spoon...
It's extreme cos it's a veeeery chocolatey cake: normal chocolate cake, with a great big tub (which I've kept in the freezer from the last time I made this) of chocolate fudge sauce/frosting over the top, a chocolate ganache filling, and then two packets of Maltesers crushed up sprinkled over the top because DP is, like, 5.

So glad it went OK aethel, it's a horrible thing to have to cope with, so an upset DS on top of it all would've been unfair.

If there's something I had it's the sodding dawn chorus....and now DS is squwaking, will be back later!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/05/2012 08:28

LMF Good you figured it out early so you can work on your moods now.

Scooby Only 1 month to go, that has flown by. We love Majorca, great for the kids. We stayed in Puerto Pollensa. Hoping we take the girls back next yr.

Aethel Glad your treatment went well and pompoms for 5hrs sleep.

Sky slept 8:30 - 3:30 had 1-2oz and slept till 7:30 Grin

Still have badgers arse for a throat tho Sad

Today is chill till Darcie needs to go singing at 11. Pick her up at 12 and going to look for her bridesmaid dress. Then chill for rest of day.

aethelfleda · 19/05/2012 08:29

If you hate the dawn chorus, I have a cunning idea for your leftover chocolate cake frosting northern.... Do you remember Roald Dahl's The Twits? Have you a nice branch in your garden (or next-doors) that you could slather with glue and chocolate frosting? Problem solved!

(disclaimer. Only joking. No sweet little dicky-birds were harmed in the making of this post.)

Right, up, brek and off to help at the NCT nearly new sale where I shall sharpen my elbows in the hope of a cheap travel cot....

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/05/2012 08:30

Northern Good luck with the extreme baking. That cake sounds far to sickly for my taste!

NorthernChinchilla · 19/05/2012 08:52

Snurk @ aethel. The weird thing is it's worst at my Mum, where it sounds like (this will be weird) that if you threw back the curtains you'd see a prehistoric landscape, dinosaurs, and millions of birds sitting in trees all sounding far too fecking jaunty, whereas in reality it's a quiet street with loads of 1950s semis and very few trees...

Yes DSM, my other half has the taste/palate of a child. It's the the sort of cake that can only be eating in little bits, not that he'll have any sort of restraint, but hey- it's his birthday!

Am off to bleach the shower, urgh...

Figgygal · 19/05/2012 10:00

Why the hell did my house phone ring at 3am this morning?? Thought someone was dead but there was no one there and the number was from a network that didn't transmit no. Or some other shit. Absolute bastards at least it didn't wake lo other than a grunt or 2. He then slept until 6.30 again fingers crossed that's the end of the night waking.

He's had his porridge is off to PIL for day so dh and I can have time to selves for anniversary sod the washing!!

Very jealous of all the holidays I can't face taking lo anywhere yet.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/05/2012 10:06

Figgy That's a pita.

My only holiday this yr, will be our honeymoon to St Lucia Grin

OiMissus · 19/05/2012 10:09

Now it's my turn to start feeling badgers' arses, but part of that is my own fault for getting v drunk last night. (BOi was on formula for the night. I still felt very bad about it when I realised how drunk I felt. Bad mum.)
We've nothing planned until later today, so I'll just recover and eat, and watch BOi on his door swing thing. But for now, we're all still in bed. Smile
DH came home with a humidifier last night, and either BOi's cold is much better or the humidifier works miracles. Grin
I am sniffly this morning though. bloody nursery

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 19/05/2012 10:15

Oi So are you hanging this morning? A good fry up is in order then?!

Sodding throat & mouth ulcers - needs to sod off now Sad

KateM77 · 19/05/2012 11:34

aethel pleased to hear it went well overnight, and thanks for the tip about teat size. DH has been dispatched to Tesco with DD with instructions to get some fast flow ones! I'm planning to clear out of the way and leave DH to try with the bottle later.

Aah BJR you've made us all go as squidgy as Northern's chocolate cake!

Northern hope the shower cleaning goes OK. Of course you've now given me the mental image of you in there semi-naked. In fact I get a similar image every time DSM talks about flashing her bathroom Wink

Scooby pleased to hear DH will be home soon, and that you've got some fun times planned over the next month. It seems to have gone quickly for all of us, but I bet it's been quite a long-haul for you.

Oi hope the hangover's not too bad and that we you get some house news soon.

I'm cooking up a storm today. Lemon drizzle done with DD's 'help' and I'm moving on to soup for lunch after this feed. Glamourous jobs of cleaning the washing machine drawer and doing handwashing that's been sitting there for weeks later.

MissRee · 19/05/2012 11:35

Oh big fat hairy ballbags! Gas men have been a knocking this morning as there is a leak in the downstairs flat. Upon further investigation, ALL the pipes are knackered, including the ones in the road. This means we are without gas until AT LEAST Monday. There has been talk of moving our meter... which also means that if they route the pipework up the outside of the house, they need planning permission as we're in a conservation area. It is an incredibly strict CA as well in that we even need special permission for changing windows (that particular hassle is usually reserved for listed buildings only).

Who wanted to live in an area of outstanding natural beauty???? Hmm

KateM77 · 19/05/2012 11:35

Oh and I meant to say hope you have a good day figgy

MissRee · 19/05/2012 11:37

Indeed, have a lovely day Figgy Grin
