Hey all! aethel I hope it gets sorted soon. Grimminy grim!

Oi I hope you get the house, it's gorgeous.

Re my DH, he is very supportive, and just cannot understand his mother. It's sad that she is putting a man before her children.

DS enjoyed his bath today, I finally got him on his front and he enjoyed kicking. He has quite a bad nappy rash, so it's hourly nappy changes and lots of bareness here. A wonderful opportunity for him to piss on absolutely everything :)

Has anyone signed up for proper swimming lessons? If so, do you think they are worth it?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/05/2012 17:08

Sorelip Sky & Darcie do swimming lessons and they are totally worth it IMO. I think all children should be able to swim.

aethelfleda · 17/05/2012 18:53

I started the DDs at 4/3 when they were old enough for group lessons. The baby lessons are nice for a jolly but I wasn't convinced they did much.

Arg, chemist had no pripsen, gotta wait til friday afternoon to get it, and Ds's dose has to be given in the morning. At least I can give DDs theirs tonight.

Kitty5824 · 17/05/2012 19:11

Sorelip I think the baby lessons are more about giving Mum/Dad the confidence to play with baby in the water IYSWIM.

I managed to find a lady "only" charging £45 for a course of 7 lessons....two more to go and I just feel like I'll be able to carry on playing the different games we have learnt until he's old enough to actually follow direction, at which point I'll pay for some "proper" lessons.

KateM77 · 17/05/2012 19:22

Congrats to BJR

Get well soon to all those lurgy-infested Mums and babes, and hope the worms vacate soon aethel

Oi the house is amazing, really hope you get it.

Sorelip pleased to hear DH is being siupportive. Both my DC's have swimming lessons and I think they're really good. The focus of them is safety and build towards LO splashing in under the water, turning round and holding on to the side, so that if they ever fell into water they would do similar. They're also lots of fun...well DD enjoys hers anyway, DS is not so sure anymore!

Well I had a total meltdown on DH last night and whilst I still need a break and still need some time spent just with DH, I'm feeling a lot better for having had a good cry and talked it all through with him. I was a much happier and calmer Mummy today. Lets hope that continues and that little monkey takes to the bottle soon

YBR · 17/05/2012 19:30

Rotten night last night, but not down to LO. Neighbours (two girls) kept me up with their screaming row. Fortunately LO was asleep before they started and slept through it. Then I woke up again with them shouting at each other, looked at the clock 1:30am! I think that one disturbed LO but she went back to sleep I assume; it took me ages.
LO woke up for a feed at 4:30, which is reasonable and DH got up. I woke up 6am and got ready for work.

Swimming: we (well, DH adn LO now) go to an "active Start" thing using a primary school pool which is £1 per swimmer for 1/2 hour. There is a teacher present but it's mixed ages and generally a free-for-all. That's good enough for now. Other options round here are £12 per lesson, course of 40 Shock

Just now I have a horrid head, DH is giving LO the bedtime feed and I'm for early bath and pain-killing drugs.

LittleMissFlustered · 17/05/2012 19:46

All hail the drugs!

Feel well all, I'm starting to feel slightly more human, though my hay fever is being vile!

N'night!

The only way I can get Octoboy to take his inhaler without screaming is to play hyper-peekaboo with him while he's breathing. We look ridiculous!:o

MissRee · 17/05/2012 20:31

Hey, whatever works LMF Grin getting DSS to take his properly (without fake coughing and therefore not actually getting any of the pump) is still a nightmare and he's 7 this year!

BJR · 17/05/2012 20:46

Baby is asleep and DP is cooking me dinner. I could get used to this :o

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/05/2012 21:07

Just to say I feel ruff like a badgers arse.....that is all Sad

Hell's teeth, I need to get these emotions under control. DP described to me the Ed Shernan (sp?) song, Small Bump- didn't hear the actual song, or read all the lyrics- and I just started blubbing.
As I've never had PMT, and wasn't the slightest bit more emotional when pregnant, this is all rather odd for me....

Poor DS, his cheeks could power a small village they're giving off that much heat and light.

Have spent this evening sorting out the ingredients for DP's birthday cake, and wrapping prezzies, hence the late post.

I think more wars have been started over the vexed issue of lie-ins cherry, than anything else.... We do the one on one day, one on the other, although of course I have to wake up on both to feed DS!

I bet your DS is obsessed with the skunk figgy! I suppose as long as all involved have had their various jabs, it can't do too much harm, but I think your DP is right that some sort of nip will happen soon.

We've been having this debate about 'what to do with the garden' with my Mum (north Lancs) Oi. Frankly, it's so rarely warm enough to sit out of an evening (after work that is), that it wouldn't make much difference, and on the rare evenings it is warm enough, it's been that hot that not having the sun over you at 7pm makes no difference iyswim!
I am deliberately not looking at the pics so as not to get house-envy: 'tis unbecoming Grin and I still want my offer of quiche and wine ! Good luck!

Congrats BJR, that's brilliant. More interesting and a bit more money too I hope?

Oh aethel, how totally rotten! Have also been there the once, and it's not fun. Poor little spawns as well.

Hope people are feeling better tomorrow too.

Friday tomorrow, whoooop! Got DP a bottle of vanilla vodka as an early birthday present (amusingly, on the day he got ratted, Hmm) so will snaffle a nip of that on my return from work Smile

aethelfleda · 17/05/2012 21:52

Hmmm. Just feeding DS again... The cunning plan For tomorrow nigjt of of take pripsen after 7pm feed then wait til 3am to feed really doesn't sound convincing. Am I better having DS wail and bottle-refuse all night or all day? Going to google pripsen's half life to see if I can get away with less than 8 hours of pump-and-chuck...

MissRee · 17/05/2012 21:58

Did someone sneeze/poo on our thread? Everybody is ill Sad Hope you all feel better soon!

aethelfleda · 17/05/2012 22:02

Boooo, mr google he say the 8 hours is compulsory.

It's weird, isn't it missree!

MissRee · 17/05/2012 22:06

I could maybe understand if we all lived in the same house town but we're miles apart! Grin

seven77 · 17/05/2012 22:18

What's happened here? I havent checked in for two days and there's a plague breaking out! Hope all mums and babie are feeling better soon.

sorelip after the excellent (as always) thread advice I bought metanium for Eva's nappy rash. After several days of Bepanthen at every change not helping at all I only used the metanium twice and it completely went.

An eventful couple of days here. Firstly Eva sat up yesterday! DS had another x ray followed by fracture clinic, the bottom part of the bone looks like its healed already and he now has a smaller cast (think aethel said it would be fibreglass?)He's now carrying on as normal and has only had two doses of ibuprofen and one calpol today.

The other news is that the flat didn't sell :(. I maxed out my credit card paying for the auction listing fees :(. We're back on the market with the estate agent already but we desperately need to sell it.

I've also ordered 5 chicks and a brooder which should be arriving next week now I just need to work out what to do with them

hawthers · 18/05/2012 02:26

Bloody DH has been flapping about all night and has just woken f with his overly melodramatic turning over in bed. So not amused esp as now he is already snoring his head off. Plus he only offers to pick up the crying f when I'm practically ready (putting on slippers, Cardi etc) so gets all huffy when I say no as he'd just get in the way.

Grrrr and while I'm having a bitch rant he totally doesn't get that your sex life doesn't remain the same when you are sleeping in the same room as a four month old and your wife is getting a lot of disturbed sleep. Get over it man - it isn't forever so stop whining!

hawthers · 18/05/2012 02:33

I feel much better after that tirade.

seven so sorry about your flat

aethelfleda worms oh you poor guys. Have you tried the app lactmed to see what it says ?

oi also agree sun is not an issue. Go get the house it is brilliant

bjr congratulations!

All poorly mas and nippers - get well soon

aethelfleda · 18/05/2012 06:16

Fed at 10,12,3,4.45,5,15 and 6.

I think this is because of his current cold and croak making his throat sore. Either that or I was Genghos Khan in a previous life and karma is catching up with me.....

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/05/2012 06:45

Sky slept all night and is still asleep Smile went down just before 9pm.

Duvet day for me as I feel ruff Sad

OiMissus · 18/05/2012 07:55

hawthers I feel your pain, the "overly dramatic" turning over in bed... Yawn! My DH is overly dramatic when BOi scratches him or bops him. I am trying and failing massively to not let it irritate me. That's all BOi does when he's in your arms, he plays with your face/hair/whatever he can grab. He's just being playful and affectionate. yet DH says "Ow, he just did ...", or "Ow! My nose" alot. Grrrrr!
BOi has not gone to nursery. Mum got a surprise phone call at 6.30am instead, telling her I was on my way over. BOi's really snotty and rattley. No one slept much last night, again, and so I thought he'd be better off with mum and dad, where he'll get their full attention. Poor mum!
(Thanks for continued reassurance about not needing the sun in the evening. Am definitely going to get this house if it means moving in tonight and claiming squatter's rights.
oh eva congratulations on LO sitting up!
dsm sorry you are also feeling badger's arses rough.
seven congratulations on the chicken order!
It's Friday!!!!!! yippeeee!
I need coffee.

OiMissus · 18/05/2012 08:20

I wonder what feedback we'll get from the estate agents today...
And you must all come for tepid quiche and wine, having gone through the pain and excitement of buying houses with me.
Bugger. seven - sorry - I meant to say in my last post, I'm so sorry your flat didn't sell. Fingers crossed that the auction gave it some publicity and someone comes back and makes an offer soon.
I must also tell you something about the house, that I have never seen before, and that, even if the owners remove it before we get in, I will reinstate immediately. There is a huge cupboard/storage wall, containing 6" opaque drawers, floor to ceiling, along the narrow wall of the utility room (which is still 2m+ wide). And EVERY drawer was labelled. "Sunhats and sunglasses", "Gloves", "Suncreams", "Swimming bits", etc. How fabulously organised was this woman? I take my hat off to her carefully placing it in the correct drawer . All these things that you can never find, really did have their exact, specific space. I could use one row for family stuff, and the rest for shoes. :)
