Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AnAirOfHope · 14/05/2012 14:23

G&t my pil give hope a yogut. She is 5 months old and both my sisters children are allergic to.milk protin and Hope has ezcema and i have food allaergies. I told them not to give her diary and i have bf so she does not have diary and they give her a fucking miller light yorgut.

Im just happy she didnt have an anaphleptic shock or i would have killed them both with my bare hands

mopsytop · 14/05/2012 14:33

Oh no air, you must be fuming. That's awful :( even without the v high risk of allergies they shouldn't be feeding your child anything you don't want them to anyway. That should be your choice not theirs. Grrrr! No wonder you're livid.

figgy, minimopsy hasn't shown the slightest interest in rolling yet and she's a week off 5 mths. She's trying to sit up inthe bouncy chair and trying to reach her feet but she still spends half her tummy time with her face flat on the floor!

Kitty5824 · 14/05/2012 15:01

I had a mamouth post that namechecked pretty much all of you but my computer ate it. Boo!

Hugs to those with meddling in-laws, selfish/unsupportive partners, trips to a&e etc etc.

Poms Poms to those with babies who are rolling, sitting, crawling and talking!

I was brave this morning and went to a "new parent" group at one of the local sure start centres. Decided not to text SIL to see if she wanted to go. Need to make own friends etc.

Arrived and she was already there!!! Hilarious!

Was a fab group, there are activities (for the mums) each week and it's a mix of pregnant first timers and those of use with baba's under 6 months. We made tab blankets in red, white and blue. Well, we picked the fabric and pinned them. The sure start lady is going to sew them up for us. How cool is that?

Have decided to have a housewarming BBQ/jubilee party on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend. Off to search through my craft supplies (used to make my own greetings cards) to see if I can make some paper bunting....

OiMissus · 14/05/2012 15:27

kate try giving your LO an empty bottle to play with. We did that with BOi and so it became less alien to him, and he would put the teat in his mouth automatically and chew to soothe his gums - even though he won't take a dummy. After a day or two we put in a bit of expressed bmilk, and then after a few days of chewing and getting bits of drips, he began to suck when offered a proper bottle.
Good luck.
I have forgotten the bottle part of my pump today, so I may actually explode. I last fed at 5.30, I won't see BOi until 5.30pm, if I last that long. Ladies, this may be goodbye... it's been nice, and thanks for all the fish.
Grin

GeeandTee · 14/05/2012 15:28

air I would be massively fuming too! That is SO not on. Did they apologise or backtrack at all? Very difficult to forgive something like that. But not DH's fault was it? Or did he let them do it? I would be Angry x 1000.

And Muller light is hardly suitable for children anyway as its low fat and full of artificial sweetners.

My FIL often feeds us out of date food and if you suggest that there is anything wrong with it he gets offended. We're spending 2 weeks with him this summer and I'm going to have to put my foot down on it and live with the consequences. I'm not feeding my DCs dodgy food, especially meat. Last time he tried to give us mince that was weeks out of date and we went and bought fresh stuff instead when he was out and he got all funny about it and froze the out of date stuff to eat at a later date!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/05/2012 15:39

Really proud of my Darcie for coming home with a head teachers award today Grin

seven77 · 14/05/2012 17:00

dsm bless her, what did she do to get the award?

air I presume you mean your DH needs to mum up and have it out with his parents. I'd tell him if he doesn't put them in line you will, and it'll be much better for everyone if it comes from him!

DS has been up and playing with his friend for the last two hours so definitely more himself now. He's sitting on the sofa again now, I'm fully expecting to find him asleep soon though. Eva's face nappy rash still isn't improving, it's now spreading to under her chin. HV asked me to go to clinic on Thursday so she can have a look.

GeeandTee · 14/05/2012 17:02

seven you might need a low dose anti-fungal cream like Daktarin to get rid of it. Not sure about on the face though.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/05/2012 17:28

Seven Something to do with standing up in assembly doing a play or something like it!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/05/2012 17:28

Air What has DH said regarding his parents?

mopsytop · 14/05/2012 18:58

Off to bed now to try and get a cpl of hours in before the half hourly wakeups start around half nine. Feel like a zombie...how long is this sleep regression supposed to last?

KateM77 · 14/05/2012 19:00

Oi Hope you haven't exploded and are around to read this. Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a whirl.

AWomanCalledHorse · 14/05/2012 19:10

Air, for them, hugs for you & DD. xx

Oi Grin Hope you don't leak today.

I don't judge women who don't BF (normally, heck I only did it for 2 weeks!) but one of the Saturdays said (of her decision not to BF) 'I just knew it wouldn?t be practical to be performing on stage with big leaky boobs full of milk'.....yeah because it's fabby walking around with hulking great milk boobs for the rest of us Hmm

Gave DS a sippy cup today, and he did sippeth!! Soon I won't have to pay him any attention during feeds!! Wink
He also thinks carrots are amazing!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/05/2012 20:04

Thanks all, and especially to Oi for the offers of proper quiche Grin! What are you doing on the house front now, just starting the search again? And I forgot the handle of my pump today, and had to run out and buy a new one!! Thankfully it's a manual, and was still on offer at £17 at Mothercare, so not too bad, but still...

DP is in grovel mode, I have reminded him of his need to make it up to me. However, his pissed proclamations that I was "wonderful" and that (to my Mum, which will be used forever to take the piss) "you have brilliant genes, look at the child and grandchild you produced" still make me smile...

Just wanted to say MissRee, that was awful of your friend. If you're feeling down about returning, she should be supporting you. And there are several of us on the thread that show that going back to work and/or putting baba in nursery does not make anyone grow a horn. I know it won't make you feel better for you, but you can be sure that Freya will be fine.

Sounds like my ideal weekend MsB, can we swap?!

Having a snuggle with DS in bed is often the highlight of my weekend figgy, I love it, glad you did.

That's brilliant about Rocco HLC, the fun starts here Grin. The idea of babyproofing fills me with horror- is your house/possessions/garden amenable to it, or will it be a nightmare

How's your DD doing Kate, have the bruises started to come out? Poor thing, bet she was shocked.

That's completely wrong of them air, you have every right to be angry, and I hope your DP sorts it out. Glad there was no reaction (so far?)

DP and DS went to the post natal group today- one woman there did CC on her four week old... Sadly it was boiling and DS is teething madly, and the session lasted three hours, so not an all-round happy experience Confused

GeeandTee · 14/05/2012 20:07

CC on a 4 week old? That makes me feel sick.

YBR · 14/05/2012 20:16

BabyYBR can roll front to back, or onto her side from her back but not yet right over. She can now sit without support (except when distracted with a toy) and is strong enough to stand (even to push up to standing) but doesn't know what to do next! No sign of crawling yet.

Sympathy for air and ripe swordfish for them. It's so difficult when you can't trust family.

kitty great you've found such a fab group.

My first day back at wrok today, I'm on half-days this week and working up from there. DH and LO walked me up to the station this morning and met me when I got back too. Long may that continue! but not holding my breath
My mum is a bit Shock that I'm going back to wrok "so early" Hmm but as DH is full-time Dad I don't see the problem. Apparently I'll miss so much but my reply was along the lines of "like having the house repossessed" which stopped that conversation! I've had a huge amount of time off compared with my father, which is the proper comparison.

Weaning has passed through rice (err.. not really) and banana (hmm... maybe) to apricot (yum!). That new taste was an instant hit today. Our food processor is not actually very good at pureeing small quantities so I've been pressing it through a sieve - time consuming but effective.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/05/2012 20:20

sounding really dim - what's CC?

Figgygal · 14/05/2012 20:31

Dsm its controlled crying

LittleMissFlustered · 14/05/2012 20:33

Controlled crying. Effectively ignoring a tiny baby:(

OP posts:
HoneyLovesCake · 14/05/2012 20:37

Controlled Crying dsm - I don't think I could have sat in the same room as the women NC. I strongly believe in keeping my (admittedly sometimes alternative) parenting views to myself but I tthink it's better for me to remove myself from the company of people I find abhorrent before I let my mouth run away with me Grin

My house is a death trap NC, granite walls, inglenook fireplace, open stairs & a 46" tv :(

NorthernChinchilla · 14/05/2012 20:37

Didn't know it was your first day back YBR, and it's good you can work up from half days. I get met at the station by DP and DS too, it's lovely, and I hope it continues for you! Not helpful from your Mum (why do people say these things, honestly?) and that's a really good point about your Dad.
My poor Mum had to go back to work full time when I was six weeks old, so feels I was lucky!

CC is controlled crying- even those who use the method state that it should not be used on a baby under 6 months old. Made me feel a bit wibbly too Gee- and the woman is a teacher and very proud of her achievement Sad.

NorthernChinchilla · 14/05/2012 20:39

Ah, X-posts with everyone... yup, the desire to snaffle the baby away was strong not helped by my horrendous broody-ness at the moment.

Same as mine then HLC - woodburner, stone hearth, massive TV with three squillion wires, millions of books at baby level, uneven stairs and chinchillas everywhere!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 14/05/2012 20:43

Blush oops really dim moment!

CC on a 4 week old is Shock I would of had to walk out - couldn't of sat there thru that poor thing.

Both my girls are asleep, DP is up the pub and I'm in bed watching friends Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 14/05/2012 20:45

Our hand blender is fabby for blending...my mum mentioned with us she would use a meat hand grinder/mincer as she didn't see the point in buying a blender.
I've found a little strip of masking tape on the top of the ice cubes trays is excellent for writing what's in the tray...all the blended food looks orange atm!

Honey, are you/DP going to Rocco proof soon? Hopefully he'll just find the granite walls interesting!
Our DS has started eyeing up the rabbits...so I'm worried about them.
We're getting rid of our massive heavy oak coffee table as DS has a habit of rolling around & kicking it.

WTAF NC? CC on a little baby? I would be like HLC and have to leave!

HoneyLovesCake · 14/05/2012 20:49

I'll probably start looking at baby proofing next week once we get back from the wedding in Portsmouth, until then I just won't leave him alone AWCH
