Figgy DS is 6 days off of 5 five months. It is quite early, but then he gets around 7 people including me talking to him every day, so he will pick up words. Will now have to stop swearing! Shit...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/05/2012 12:08

Sorelip What a clever DS you have Smile

Darcie is having a bad day Sad however, we have 5 mins peace at the moment. Dinner is on and we are sitting watching the F1. I've even done half my ironing!

AnAirOfHope · 13/05/2012 12:18

Im lost in a sea of clothes :(

aethelfleda · 13/05/2012 12:46

seven, keep him on three times a day neurofen plus four times a day calpol for 7-10 days, then just the neurofen three times daily for another week. Then just as and when. After 7-10 days of healing the fracture will stabilise and that's the point when it will start being a lot more comfortable for him.

Also, if you need to shower him, wrap the cast and arm round and round in a ton of clingfilm, put a plastic bag over the top and tape it to itself. Not perfect but means you can wash his hair! After a few days of plaster they usually put on a fibreglass cast which is less water-soluble.

Oh and lastly, get to the charity shop/ebay/the works, and pick up some new/preloved sticker books (usborne ones are good) and new colourin pens: will help to pass the time when you're sick of telly! He may also sleep longer/nap more: healing a fracture is hard work for the body. Good luck! Xxx

Bottle application went even less well today. It didn't help that DS was tired, silly of me to try at that feed really. DH and I both tried, but DS got really upset. I even tried a cheeky switcheroo from boob to bottle mid-feed but he was wise to that and got very angry with me. I'll try again tomorrow.

seven77 · 13/05/2012 13:54

aethel thanks, excellent advice. He normally has baths so not sure whether he'll let me shower him but I'll try. He's not bothered about colouring plus he's left handed and broke the left arm but sticker books are a good idea. So far we've watched cars and cars 2, then he fell asleep on the sofa (he never naps!) watching F1. Just a shame with the DMD I have to be a mean mummy and make him walk around, I can't just let him lay on the sofa all day. I'll call his amazing physio in the morning to see what she advises.

kate keep trying!

Figgygal · 13/05/2012 13:55

Lo and I are watching the lion king while dh cutting the hedge I just sobbed through the first 5 minutes when they presenting Simba to the world......what sort of state will I be when simbas dad dies ??

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/05/2012 14:20

Kate Keep trying.

Seven Hopefully your physio will have some good advice.

Figgy I love that movie always makes me cry!

Darcie has gone to nanny's for a couple of hours. We are watching F1. Sky has just demolished a strawberry, had a very red & sticky smile afterwards and Is now having a bottle.

seven77 · 13/05/2012 14:36

I still can't watch Bambi.

OiMissus · 13/05/2012 16:27

I watched "prince of Egypt" last wk, another cartoon, and when Moses' mum sent baby Moses off in his reed basket down the river, I looked at this bible story in a whole new light! -and I'll cry at anything these days.
seven glad LO's on the mend, good luck! No commando crawling here yet, but now he can roll over there's no stopping him. He's now trying to push himself up with his arms, and pushing up his bum to move. Grin
Well done to your LO, hlc!
MissRee haddocks to your insensitive friend. You have to do what is right for you. Whether you go back to work for financial reasons, for career, or just for your sanity, you choose the best path for the family. It's got nothing to do with her. I've been back at work now for 3 weeks. Some times have been a bit tough, but Ali is happy, fulfilled and learning. It truly does him good to meet all these new people - everyone is different with him, each has their own way. It's also good for Ali to not be so dependent on me. So don't feel shit about it.
And I don't feel I'm missing too much. He saved his first roll for me. No one knows him as well as me. And it makes me treasure the time I do have with him. When he's awake he has ALL my time. Housework, MN, Supermarket trips - they can wait til he sleeps. I don't waste a precious minute.
figgy and dsm sympathies about the periods. That's one thing I'm not looking forward to.
sorelip wow! Ali makes "merma" sounds a lot, especially when I leave the room, but nothing too definite yet that I can count. Certainly no dada yet. He is a right chatterbox though. Grin congrats to your LO!
Someone remind me why citrus is so bad now. (acidity i guess?) because Ali has just been loving licking my orange ice lolly! As he wasn't sucking, I decided he was just enjoying the cold ice.

MissRee · 13/05/2012 17:05

Oi thank you, I needed that. Your post actually made me cry just a lil bit Grin I'm looking forward to getting the best smiles when I get in from work!

aethelfleda · 13/05/2012 17:22

misree I throw yet more in your friend's general direction.
It's very thoughtless of her to project her opinions onto you and make all sorts of assumptions while doing it. I went back to work when DD1 was six months and though I did so part time (3 days a week) it felt like I was getting some of my identity back and not existing solely as DD's mummy. And it also made a big financial difference which has to come into it too for most of us!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/05/2012 17:31

If you have just watched the football what a cracking game and way to end the season Grin

OiMissus · 13/05/2012 17:37

Oh I get the most amazing smiles when I pick him up. Grin
dsm very exciting end to the season. I don't really follow football too much. But it was v exciting, even though Bolton are now plummeting Championshipwards. Sad

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 13/05/2012 17:53

Oi Shame about Bolton tbh.

LittleMissFlustered · 13/05/2012 18:08

Tired!

Fish and chips for dinner this evening, laaaazy mum!

Aarg, am getting KFC cravings. Steel yourself and resist aethel, think of the poor unethically housed chickens!

Spent the lovely afternoon.....sat in A&E with DD2 getting a minor ear injury reviewed (she's fine) and had to take DS too as DH was worried he wouldn't take a bottle. Gah.

OiMissus · 13/05/2012 18:27

Glad your LO's ok aethel.
Q1. BOi has a teething rash -I assume. He has red spots and White heads around his mouth and chin. I've been wiping with wipes, and sporadically swiping on a bit of bepanthen. Not getting better or worse. But now he's got some similar spots around his eyes. I guess because he constantly has his hands in his mouth, and then, when tired, will rub his eyes. Is there anything I can/should do? (outside of eyelids, no spots to the insides)

LittleMissFlustered · 13/05/2012 19:09

I can understand the urge for KFC. So bad yet astes so good at times. Glad the visit wasn't a long protracted affair, but a minor for your husband who should have mummed up and dealt with the boyspawn!

OP posts:
GeeandTee · 13/05/2012 19:30

oi I wouldn't use wipes on his face as they leave a film and can make the spots worse. I would just use a wet tissue or cotton wool and keep it as dry as possible. Does he use a dummy? Sometimes that can make it worse too and you can get dummies with more holes/space around the mouth iyswim. Or try magic breastmilk on the spots - if it clears up eye infections...

OiMissus · 13/05/2012 19:37

Ok - thanks for the wipes advice.
He doesn't have a dummy. But he always has breastmilk around his mouth, and quite often in his eyes when he pulls away mid-flow. I had hoped that the spray would do some good!
Kfc - so wrong, yet so...

LittleMissFlustered · 13/05/2012 19:57

My eldest (henceforth knows as the girlspawn) used to get waves of milk spots. There never seemed to be any cause or cure. They did as they pleased. Much like she did :o Even now she's prone to random odd spots. I'm rather looking forward to her teens, I love a good spot pop

OP posts:
OiMissus · 13/05/2012 20:10

I have to really fight to stop myself messing with spots. I fail on myself. I love it when DH wants assistance with spots in hard to reach areas, ingrowing hairs, and also love plucking his monobrow hairs, and hair in his ears. (we call it surgery)
I - will - not - touch - BOi's - little - blackheads - near - his - ears!

Rashkakeller · 13/05/2012 20:12

I love spot popping!!

Quickie... Had a lovely day, went shopping this morning so dd could choose her birthday presents and not long back from a meal out with the family. Our server brought out one of dd's many birthday cakes and we all sang 'happy birthday' - she was so overwhelmed, bless her (dd, not the server!)

Ds had a nap in the pub so he's only just fallen asleep. Night of tv watching and present wrapping for me!

Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep - ds has been back to his early hour feed for the past 2 nights. I'm not keen...
