OiMissus · 23/04/2012 22:04

MissRee you must SAVE your child and eat the egg!
I have come to realise that going to work necessitates a military exercise every evening. I need to pack my bag, including sterilised pump equipment and storage stuff for milk, and breast pads; pack LO's bag - Inc sterile bottles, 2x spare clothes, space for breastmilk, coat. Get my clothes ready, get LO's clothes ready.
(I hate sterilising stuff. What a faff!)
And then cook and eat dinner, and clear up. Not washed up yet and it's 10pm. Sad
Hope octoboy sleeps for longer, lmf.
Ali is sleeping quite well this evening, I hope it lasts. Oh and yesterday's baby rice did not help Ali to sleep longer either. (at least being back at work means that I'd avoid weaning nappies... Hmm)

Rashkakeller · 23/04/2012 22:46

I had my font small and read that as "wearing nappies" haha... I thought, Oi, I know you're trying to save time but still...

LittleMissFlustered · 23/04/2012 23:33

Sleep through?! Ha!

fusam · 23/04/2012 23:54

Ah ha victory is mine!! DD took a bottle (90 ml) today as I was away with a conference for 7 hrs and I had two beers. Check me out with my bad self Grin.

re: sleep regression I seem to have the only girl crappy sleeper but at least the horrible every hr waking as stopped and reverted to the 2 hourly order of business.

air hope you get better soon, just make sure you take care of yourself.

Oi I am imagining you hauling a suitcase to work every morning with all your gear.

OiMissus · 24/04/2012 05:24

No. Sleep.
Was a v unsettled BOi all thru the night.
At 5 I turned on the light to find calpol and he's all coos and gurgles now. I think he wants me to smile with him. I'm trying. (didn't find calpol. Found ibuprofen suspension... He did NOT like that.)
He's now having a sing song.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/04/2012 06:30

Morning ladies.

Sky was brilliant last night. She drank over 35oz of milk during the day and had some baby rice about 7ish last night. Went to sleep about 8:30-9ish woke with a bit of wind at 11:30 quick tap on the back and back to sleep, woke at 6am Grin with all this sleep why do i still feel tired?

Swimming & Baby Sensory today Smile

aethelfleda · 24/04/2012 07:02

Unexpectedly good night over here.. Put DS into cot at 7.30 . Took DS out at 7.50 after he "mysteriously" re-awakened in a manner that was nothing at all to do wih DD2 (and you'd be a fool and a communist to suggest otherwise). fed him again, down st 8.30.
He slept well in the cot, fed fromn 4-5 but then went back down into the cot and spet til 6.30!!! Yay!!! ( I think it was just coincidence that he was asleep enough not to notice but who cares!!)

OiMissus · 24/04/2012 08:05

Congratulations to babyaethel!
I've just abandoned my baby at nursery.
Well, that's how it felt. Now I know how you feel now mopsy, I thought I'd be fine but I'm a whimpering mess. It doesn't help that we didn't sleep, nor that he's refusing a bottle, nor that his keyworker wasn't there.
I should have been calm and filled in the pieces of paper that they showed me at the viewing, rather than just hand him to the nice lady and try to give her all the info I needed to give...
And breathe.... Wimp!

OiMissus · 24/04/2012 08:06

Sorry - congratulations to baby Sky too. :)

YBR · 24/04/2012 08:13

For the second night running BabyYBR has woken but not fed at night - cried a few times but gone back to sleep. I think we must continue to threaten discuss giving her water at the night feed in her hearing.
( Rachel Waddilove suggests you can give up to 25ml to get baby to settle and/or dump the night feed. We're not sure but considering doing it)

CherryBlossom27 · 24/04/2012 08:17

Morning all!

Had a good night last night, DS is 17 weeks old and having 42oz a day now, I'm giving him a feed every 3 hours in the day and nothing between his 10pm feed to his 7am feed.

Last night we tried him out on baby rice and he slept until 5am, woke briefly so I swaddled him in a blanket, and he slept until 6am, then woke again, so he slept on my tummy from 6am til 7am.

He seemed fine on the baby rice, so I'll try it tonight again.

BJR · 24/04/2012 08:40

Yeh for babies sleeping, and boo at the ones that didn't, mine included with the boos again unfortunatly!

DP complained yesterday that he has to arrange his life around a 4 month old, I laughed at him. God knows what he was expecting! Even he realised that it was a ridiculous thing to say.

In happier news DS has his scan yesterday and has two testes both in the correct place so no operation at the moment :)

Plan for today weigh in this morning, 3rd injections this afternoon and then packing for trip to my parents. exciting stuff. House may have to be baby proofed when I get back, DS has been trying to commando crawl and can get a couple of foot at the moment but he looks very determined so don't thinks its going to be long before hes getting a bit further!

Take care of yourself air, sounds like you're in a tough place but also that you've recognised that which is a step in the right direction.

Hope Boi is more receptive to the bottles today Oi, not surprised you found it difficult, I can imagine that the nursery are used to babies being awkward with bottles and will have a few tricks to try.

Figgygal · 24/04/2012 09:38

Another good night here 8.30-6.30 which is his norm, am still quivering at the thought of sleep regression since he was 4 months on sunday.

Good luck to Boi today and hope you not to traumatised by the end of the day Oi. I went to babygroup yesterday and my friend keeps saying she cant bare the thought of leaving lo. i dont understand that sentiment as i know he will thrive at childminder with other kids or at least thats what i will tell myself come 25th June Grin

I gave figgyboy baby porridge this morning he loved it i think he will eat anything!! I have to be careful with his weight gain since hes on 98th centile at what point do you drop the milk feeds or do you reduce the bottles in line with increasing food? God its a minefield!!

KateM77 · 24/04/2012 09:53

Oi Well done to you. It is really hard at first, but both the packing everything up at night, and the dropping off BOi in the morning will get easier.

Hooray for baby BJR and his correctly placed testes

LMF I'm going for a htc one S. At least I'm trying to. Had website rage last night when I went through the whole process and then the final page failed to load Angry

Figgy I used the Annabel Karmel Baby and Toddler planner as my guide as to when to introduce solid 'meals' and when to start dropping milk feeds

Figgygal · 24/04/2012 10:07

I do have the annabel karmel book i will divg it out and revisit, thanks for the reminder Grin

HoneyLovesCake · 24/04/2012 10:17

Thanks LMF, NC & Figgy for encouraging me to try a dummy; I know it's stupid comparing them but SIL's DS2 who is almost exactly a year older than Rocco walks around with a dummy in permanently; at least he does whenever I've seen him. He took it out to eat some chocolate at Easter & I was surprised to see what a cute smile he had...I'd never seen his mouth before! Sad

Anyway, I've sterilised the dummy, he's asleep & I'm ready to go. Just one question; how'd you keep it in? It keeps popping out. I've tried moving from boob to dummy, squeezing it in through tight lips, waiting until he's making sucking motions but it pops out every time. Can you get smaller nipple sized ones?I thought they were supposed to be substitutes for the real thing? Confused

MissRee · 24/04/2012 10:50

Hope your first day back at work goes well Northern!

KateM77 · 24/04/2012 12:08

Tried to get some of those excellent little weaning pots from Tesco that I've been recommending to you all, and it seems they don't do them any more Sad Going to see what they have on amazon. Visiting the pound shop seems a false economy given it's a 10 mile drive away and diesel is stupidly expensive!

HV just called to check up on me how I was getting on. Gave me the standard line about not introducing solids before 6 months. OK then.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/04/2012 12:47

Hope everyone's day is going alright.

Sky done very well at swimming this morning and we've just got in from Baby Sensory class and she loved the signing song :)

Must have something to eat am so hungry and in need of a brew.

aethelfleda · 24/04/2012 13:19

DS is making up for his fantastic behaviour last night by refusing to nap as usual (he'll feed to sleep and lie in my arms for 10- 15 mins but that's it. And the little bottle of trial formula (warmer this time) was a total non event. I was hoping he'd take a little this time. Oh well, he's going to find out what a stubborn mother he has: I've got no intention of forcing him into anything, he will just be presented with an identical bottle tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, at a time when he's peckish but not madly hungry. If we've not got him to take any by Friday DH will get the next one. Or I may enlist Grandad....

BeeMyBaby · 24/04/2012 14:05

fusam my DD2 is still feeding every 1.5-2hrs days & night so don't feel like you have the only girl non sleeper.

So I have finally become a Dec 11 thread sheep and bought myself DD2 some funky giraffe bibs, also bought some others from another company and I've got shopping high. DH however complained at the expense (10 bibs for less than £18) until he bought a Macbook air last night (2nd hand) it was a good deal but alot more than £18.

OiMissus · 24/04/2012 15:46

I told the nursery to call me if Ali was having problems. I haven't received any calls. So I'm hoping that he's taking bottles and not starving. managed to postpone the later call with the CEO until tomorrow, so as soon as this call is over, I can go and collect him. It was supposed to be until 4pm, but we're already 30mins behind schedule.

Kitty5824 · 24/04/2012 15:54

Oi You know that at some point you will happily start expressing before realising the video feed is still on, right?

Better night here, granny gave DS his bottle last night, he went down about 10ish, then fed at 2am, 4am and 6am. Now I see it in black and white I'm not sure why I am so happy about this, but I feel much better today!

Swimming was ace, the buses weren't too bad, we made lots of friends with various elder folk and we had lunch at my SIL (the whippygate one) on the way home.

House still looks like a tip though. The unpacking faries have not been round in my absence. Shock Not sure what is keeping them.....

OiMissus · 24/04/2012 16:06

yes, probably. In February I asked for a blind for my office window... It aint here yet. It's due to be fitted in 2 weeks. So to express, I'm ducking behind a lever arch file. Hmm
They've postponed a couple of topics, so the call ended on time - should I now admit this to the ceo. Darn it, with Communicator he can see my status is no longer "on a call". shit shit shit! can change it manually to Busy.
But if I leave and log off it'll show me as offline. darn drat and poo.
I want to go and pick up my baby...
Bugger it. I'm going.
Oh, if you find those fairies...

Figgygal · 24/04/2012 16:31

Hope all went ok today Oi looking forward to the highlights of the nursery debrief Grin

After joking about it last night I have just had a rusk with a cup of tea Blush. I did go for an hour and a half walk this morning since it wasn't actually raining so its my reward.
