They can't sort visas until his relief is due to come back to work. He isn't entitled to parental leave.

VagolaJahooli · 26/06/2012 20:34

Is it a non UK company? Do they ever have trouble getting visas. A friend is being stuffed around on a trip he has to do to Saudi Arabia cost his business associate can't get a visa. I admire you Kayz I don't think I could do all this parent stuff without dh around enough. Your amazing.

JollyBear · 26/06/2012 20:34

Brilliant news on R's weight! Well done you.

Beans Glad you had a good day.

Indith Hope the screaming has stopped. Is it September you start your course? Will ds2 be close by for feeding?

Early night for me.

McKayz · 26/06/2012 21:24

Yeah it's a Singapore country. He's had no problems with visa's so far but he knows people that have struggled with middle east countries.

KiwiPanda · 26/06/2012 21:29

Just popped on to wave. Kayz hooray for little Rosalie (I shall start thinking of mine as Big Rosalie which is a bit ridiculous at 8 months Grin) and for your clearly excellent feeding.

If anyone else is going to Wimbledon shout please, I live 5 minutes away. Though it's causing traffic hell around my way so I kind of hate it right now

Had dreadful day with R poorly - no idea what but she was in a right state, wouldn't sleep and would be put down which is most unlike her. Weirdly she smells of
vinegar which google informs me could be sign of an infection - who knew???

Anyway managed to escape this evening to do a 3 mile race with my running club (it's a handicap one with staggered start so everyone finishes more or less at the same time which is nice). Very pleased with my time so that's made the day end better anyway... Here's to hoping tomorrow is better.

Aghhhh long post lost by sodding iPhone app aghhhhh

So briefly Kayz brilliant news on little Rosalie

Big Rosalie poorly and smells of vinegar which google tells me might be a sign of an infection??? Anyone know this ??? Had dreadful day where she wouldn't sleep, for massively overtired, wouldnt be out down etc. one of those hideous days Sad

However managed to escape for my running club 3 mile race. Really pleased w time so at least day ended on positive note

Oh and if anyone else by any chance is going to Wimbledon do shout, I live 5 mins away. And am cursing it hourly for te traffic hell it creates Wink

Oh! It reappeared! Sorry for wittering away twice then. Blush

VagolaJahooli · 26/06/2012 22:09

Oooo kayz I hope he gets taxed on Singapore rates and not UK.

Well done on 3 miler kiwi. What was your time. I'm up early for a killer hills sprint run. A friend from my little fitness group and i are getting up at 6 to do a session. It will be the first time we have hit these hills sprints since the girl who takes the group left for a 2 month trip to Canada. We are hoping for 10 reps up the hill, it is pure evil, very steep with a nasty little extra steep bit at the top.

Never heard of the vinegar thing but sounds plausible.

KiwiPanda · 27/06/2012 07:22

Vag ugh hill sprints are a killer. Should do more myself though they are so good for you.. Did the 3 miles in 21'07 I think (official times go on website so going by my watch) - though also according to my watch it was slightly under 3 miles..

Dreadful night with R but DH is off today so I am leaving her at home this morning to go to my mum and babies art class. Get so much more art done without distracting baby Grin

OP posts:
McKayz · 27/06/2012 07:45

Why does little R always need feeding at this time of morning? It's like she's trying to scupper my plans to be out of the door on time. Grin

We've all got colds except DD. I found out I can't take anything but paracetamol. I want a lemsip.

Indith · 27/06/2012 07:56

Yeah sorry Kayz! You can have lemon and honey in hot water though which will help your throat feel better, you can use olbas oil and if you have and lavender oil then a dab on your temples will really help with any headaches. This auntumn collect some elder berries and make some syrup from them. Boil them up with sugar and some cloves, strain and bottle but pop the cloves in the bottles to help preserve the syrup. It is AMAZING hot (dilute it like squash) when you have a cold, it is very much like a lemsip and I think it is vital to survive a winter when bf!

Ds seems quite a lot better, had a horrible night though. He is quite perky, coughing less so I think he is well enough for jabs today .

VagolaJahooli · 27/06/2012 08:32

I was told by the gp I couldn't have ibuprofen but the MW said it was fine because such a tiny amount came through to the bf. I took loads after ds1 was born because I had a strain in my neck which was causing excruciating headaches. Is that bad, have I done him damage. Kayz I know your not supposed to have alcohol while BF, but a tiny half nip of whiskey in hot honey and lemon won't hurt and will clear your head a bit. Only once or twice a day though.

Kiwiw, hills were evil but we squeezed out 12 so we happy with ourselves. I have to say I used to hate sprints and strength training but I'm quite enjoying it now, it's a quick way to do a workout with fast results. Seriously though I don't think you need to do much more to improve your times. Speaking of the less than 3 miles though. I once did an Olympic distance triathlon and my swim time for 1500 meters was 21 mins, which is bordering on elite level times. I'm a good swimmer and get good times but I'm pretty confident that the bouys had moved or they had mapped out the turns wrong by a 100 meters or so because I wasn't that fast. Clearly I don't do anywhere near that now. I'm supposed to be doing a 1km ocean swim race at our local beach in the middle of Juli and i haven't swum at all since we went yo Asia in January.

KiwiPanda · 27/06/2012 09:16

Kayz I took ibuprofen too. I think the amount that comes through in your milk is less than they'd get with calprofen.. I couldnt take it with DD1 but that's because her consultant banned her ever having calprofen (and therefore me when feeding her) because of her kidney failure when she was born. And I most definitely do not avoid alcohol Grin

Vag my 5k PB is from a Race for life course that I'm absolutely sure was shorter than 5k.. 21 mins for the 1500 swim is so fast! Even if it was a but shorter that's still speedyswimorama. My swim time for Olympic Tri was 30 mins or thereabouts! You are clearly part fish. Grin

I've got another 10k race on Sunday. Want a new PB!

Cor blimey, Kiwi - you are a woman possessed! I am so impressed. After my initial enthusiasm for running when we moved, it's all gone a bit quiet. I am officially starting again on Tuesday next week.

It's my birthday tomorrow. Turning 37. We're off to Centre Parcs for the weekend in Longleat to celebrate my FIL's 70th, which 3 weeks ago. Apart from DH, I'm not sure any of his family are aware it's my birthday. Sob. But I don't want to mention it as it's treading on his toes a bit. So tomorrow, my lovely MIL has booked us into a Travelodge in a family room for the night in Warminster, so we're on the spot for arrival at Centre Parcs on Friday morning. I really really am a bit gutted about it. The Travelodge is in a service station. I can think of a zillion better ways to spend the night of my birthday. I really and truly wish DH had had the imagination to say no to his Mum and maybe book us into something nicer nearby for the night. But he has no imagination. Or romance, really. Feel a bit like weeping. I know I'm being a spoilt brat, but seriously. A service station for the night of my birthday. Sob.

Indith · 27/06/2012 10:08

My lovely lovely friend who lives on my road had her baby this morning. I'm very excited about popping round later!

JollyBear · 27/06/2012 15:37

Oh Beans! That does a bit grim. Could you have a family dinner with lots of wine somewhere nice beforehand?

Beans36 · 27/06/2012 16:56

Luckily am driving to my friend's house in Winchester on the way, so will be there at around 3ish for the afternoon, then onto Warminster for 9ish, then bed. I think I will insist on being taken out for dinner the following week or something.

sybilfaulty · 27/06/2012 17:10

Lovely beans, I think that a big fat dinner, with poss a night away, is the least James can do to make up for a travelodge on your birthday! Honestly! A family room in Alan Partridge. At least it's not in Norfolk Smile. Most men have no romance. We went down the Northcote road last Fri and must have past about 3 flowers stalls / shops before Andrew said "SHould I buy you some flowers then?" and when it came to it, he had no cash so I bought my own. I shall raise a virtual glass to you tomorrow my darling. And give you a bell in the morning.

Kayz if you had a CS you would be prescribed Dicloflex for the pain, which is the same family of drugs as Nurofen (NSAIDs) but a lot stronger. I would therefore take nurofen if it works better for you. You can also drink in moderation whilst BF if you want to as very small amounts pass into your milk. If you have a drink during / straight after your feed, then by the time the next one comes round your milk should be clear. If alcohol and BF is not for you, that's fine of course but you can have a wee bit if you want to.

Right off to collect my minker from nursery. Have a good evening y'all XXX

Beans36 · 27/06/2012 17:34

Thanks Sybs. I am also a bit off booze as I think it's making my stomach sore the next day. Wondering how I am going to cope with my FIL all this weekend and his "big girl" comments to me, when he weighs in at 20 stone. Hmmm.

sybilfaulty · 27/06/2012 17:57

Big girl? How very rude. I would suggest "I don't find that comment helpful, thank you" if you are feeling polite and "Fuck off, fatty" if you are not.

What an arse. Still, you are young slim and gorgeous, whereas he isn't.

Beans36 · 27/06/2012 18:29

Thanks, lovely! He has a good heart, but is a cock at times. Actually, his heart probably isn't that good when he weighs that much, poor chap!

Right, must go. Just extracted a splinter from DD1's foot and she has been promised a Peppa Plaster.

Have found a friend with a pool today. Bliss!

JollyBear · 27/06/2012 19:40

Big girl, how rude! My mil makes comments about my size when I'm thinner than she is. I always want to say 'that was rude, did you mean to be rude?' but I say nothing and get angry later! She buys me jumpers about 3 sizes too big. Grrrrrr.

VagolaJahooli · 27/06/2012 21:46

Blurry rude so & so Beans. Sorry about the naf hotel stay for your birthday. I think that's possible worse then spending my birthday on a plane last year. It will be your birthday here in an hour and 20mins. I'm counting down.

Have been super busy and highly competent huisvrouw today. Our veggie delivery came today, so i had to use up some of the load of spinach we had so made the boys cannelloni for dinner. Also made a Mega batch of cabbage soup, still trying to shift a bit more weight. Also made a beetroot soupl bound for the freezer, roasted some rhubarb and have just now sliced up and put some kumquat and orange onto soak to make marmalade. I also looked after a friends two kids as she is studying full time and has loads of assignments due. Her kids are lovely and get on well with my boys, but man am I glad we don't have four.

Kayz how are things?you are an exclusive bfing mum now, that was what you were hoping forwasnt it. And happy first week birthday to little R.

Indith, hooray for a brand new neighbour!

Rubena · 27/06/2012 22:18

Thanks all re sunburn guilt. I took her to swimming lesson as I thought she loves it so much - why should she suffer for my mistake. It really wasn't that bad anyway - I just felt awful.
Kayz glad MW had good news! Good thing - bloody trooper that you are.
Beans - that's less than ideal..... Hasn't DH had some input on the booking of that Travelodge? Very impressed at your selflessness not mentioning your b'day - but I'd still be Angry and not sure I could keep my big mouth shut. I'm slightly baffled as to why your FIL would want to have his B'day at Centreparcs though? But I may have missed part of the story. You could stop at mine on the way through instead and we go to the pub? Grin

DD been in a big girl bed nearly a month and her sleeping seems to be improving! I've actually gone from ds's old toddler bed to a full size single higher one she can hardly get on (it has 6 drawers underneath it) and she loves it - odd. And DS has a trundle bed now - let the sleepover's begin...... Shock

nothing unusual dh hasn't had a day off in forever as he did 7 days last week instead of the usual 6 of recent times! (or a night off as he regularly works past midnight at home) but a couple of breaks coming up tentatively scheduled before he has to put his head in the books so that's something.

Vagola, well done to DS1's on his swimming - tis brilliant, and clearly is the Aussie gene in him! Grin

TheInvisibleHand · 27/06/2012 23:28

Babies galore! Bit late, but congratulations Kayz on lovely Rosalie. Sounds like you are doing brilliantly.

And Indith - great to have a cuddly new neighbour

My lovely sister has just gone into labour, waters broken and off to hospital so am waiting for news of new nephew or niece

DD is way too overexcited about first ever sports day tomorrow. Have to find something red/yellow for her to wear as she is meant to be on the Spanish team.
