oi how much does he sleep in the day in total? It could be that he's overtired which is why he is finding it hard to get to sleep at night. It is counter-intuitive but they often sleep a lot better at night if they get good sleeps in the day. Have you tried a sling? It's often the only way I can get DD to nap in the day.

Not got anyy wind out of DD yet after her feed. Which means if I put her down anyway I'll be up again in half an hour.

scoobyd00 · 12/04/2012 03:11

It's a bad start to the night when you get to 3am and you've had 30min sleep. DS1 has nasty diarrhoea and consequent nappy rash. DS2 is still snotty.
lmf may need some of your chocolate! I'm a Giant choc button girl.

GeeandTee · 12/04/2012 03:41

As predicted windy pants awake again. Just burp DD!

OiMissus · 12/04/2012 04:38

Send some of that choc this way please.
gee he doesn't sleep much in the day. No, don't use a sling. I guess he's about 18lb now, I don't fancy the idea at all. But I will try harder to get him to sleep more during the day. Thanks.
This was our 2nd feed tonight. Hope I het a clear run til at least 7 now...

Struggling to believe we managed 12 to 7 a couple of times. Oh well. Telling myself it is a growth spurt of sorts and we'll have a few more weeks of excellent weight gain and we can go back to sleeping most of the night. Oh the lies we tell ourselves.....

aethelfleda · 12/04/2012 05:47

i must say I'm impressed with thre misnight choc consumption, I can't do sweet stuff after 10pm (unless I'm working on a nightshift, which I fortunately don't do nowadays).

Hooray for F's weightgain, Hawthers!

Had unexpected 11-5 sleep from DS tonight after an evening of pointed refusal to go down into basket. I will file in the "hooray" box to look at another night when he's back on the 1&3&5 pattern he seems to like....

LittleMissFlustered · 12/04/2012 06:07

Every two hours here still:(

scoobyd00 · 12/04/2012 06:32

lmf sending you a big pot of Brew Poor sleep here too though not all down to DS 2. Blimin dog kicked off at 0530 - must have been a squirrel in the garden. Fortunately MIL went down to sort her out before she woke the boys.

Great weight gain hawthers I think I've been explaining the frequent night feeds on growth spurts since day 1. Longest growth spurt in history!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 12/04/2012 06:51

Seven Had 2 - 28 days apart. With Darcie I went straight back to a regular cycle.

Still no AF!

Sky woke at 3:30 for a feed after going down about 7:30ish and woke again about 10mins ago to play Smile

mopsytop · 12/04/2012 07:20

Morning! Sympathies to all w sleepless nights. Once again, I didn't actually have to get up to feed minim but lots of coughing/snorting kept waking me, poor little thing. She's back in nursery all dayvtoday & tomorrow so I hope she doesn't catch sth on top of this cold/cough that makes it worse. She's had it a week now and still snotty/coughing-how long do they last normally ?

Hope you all have nice days, I'm planning to get right back into work and get lots done! And not cry about leaving minim in nursery...

OiMissus · 12/04/2012 07:47

Ali woke again at 6:15. Grrrr.
I really shouldn't post in the night as I can't get back to sleep easily, but I always want to, in solidarity. But it was a mistake. Yawn!
Where's the Rice Krispies? - a pregnancy habit that has never been broken. I used to be healthy and eat granola.

Morning!

I am horribly ill. Chest infection, plus headaches and general cold. I keep going light headed too. Today I will be providing TV for the children while I feel sorry for myself on the sofa.

OiMissus · 12/04/2012 08:20

Ah msb whack the heating up and snuggle down. The sky outside is dark and grey. TV is the safest option. Paracetamol is your friend. [hugs]

MsB Duvet, Orange Juice & lots of paracetomal today - sending get well vibes ~~~~~

LittleMissFlustered · 12/04/2012 08:56

msb take care and get to doctors if you can. I srtaeted like that and by the time I staggered into the doctor's office I was running a temp of 40°c and had a very nasty chest lurgy that required steroids as well as antibiotics:(

Hoping for another two hour stretch in a bit. My plan for the day is epic laziness:o

AnAirOfHope · 12/04/2012 11:02

I have an ill baby. Bewn to docs and she on antibotics. She has tonslitis and ingrowing teo nail. She is teething and has eczema flare up. She was awake all night screaming and air was up at 7am. She just wants to feed and be held by me.

I hate her being ill and in pain. I have given her ibprofin and she screams when i syring it in her mouth and then its hit or miss if she swollows it.

AWomanCalledHorse · 12/04/2012 11:10

Hugs & sympathy for msbuggy & Air, I've got one of these dummies for giving DS calpol & the like, it's much easier than the syringe, hope she gets better asap.

DS is teething so I plan to walk him around the park many, many times when DH goes to work.

NorthernChinchilla · 12/04/2012 11:26

Grumpy DS here too, not sure if it's teeth or wind, but we're not planning much for the day. Got a wee bit of potting up to do at the back, basic housework, need to pop into town, but he's just yelling wherever and in whatever position he's in, so posting will be limited.... and amount of work too probably. Mind you, I gave him a small Calpol about half an hour ago (when I started trying to post!) and he's now wiggling contentedly, so guess it was the bloody teeth...

Still on the 1, 3 and 5 something feeds, so with you in spirit on the nightshift: do assume a lurch and thunk from me!

So sorry to hear about your LO air, what an awful collection of things to have all at once. And definitely don't move from the sofa MsB, unless it's to go to the Doc's- have you got something for the chest infection?

And whilst we're on the subject, is it osteo or rheumatoid arthritis that they're testing you for Oi? Either way, I can imagine it's pretty worrying- my Mum has really bad rheumatoid, and I had to have tests too, so know what it's like. I hope they're just testing to rule it out, but let us know how you get on.
Also, it does sound like your LO is overtired- after DS went through his manic not sleeping phase, then got into a routine, I find that he needs to sleep every two hours or so (eg. up and feed at 7, then he's back in bed at 8.45/9am for a 45 minute sleep, repeat to fade throughout the day). If you can get him to have more sleep in the day it'd probably help, but I know that's the problem! Do you use dummies, as I find that's the trick with DS? Taking him out in his pram when he's been awake two hours could help?

Right, now I have a happy DS, I will get on with exciting things such as emptying the dishwasher, whoooopeeeeee Grin!

msbuggywinkle · 12/04/2012 11:54

Bleugh, thank you everyone. I ran out to the GP this morning, have antibiotics for the chest infection now. DP is bringing home orange juice and soup from the poncy deli.

Miri is sleeping for about half an hour every hour and a half. DD1 used to get over tired really fast, we had to catch the first yawn to get her to sleep or it would be awful!

I am planning a food overhaul over the next few weeks so that we are eating really well in time for Miri joining us (BLW, the ultra lazy way, just passing over whatever we are having). I quite enjoy organising, list-y type jobs.

LittleMissFlustered · 12/04/2012 12:10

Yay for drugs and poncy nosh msb :)

Boo to teething grumps and other assorted baby gripes. I'm throwing fluffy pompoms at all babies on the thread.

The octopus and I are taking a troll to tesco today to return a spring weight snowsuit that is the wrong size. Stoopid mummy believed the coat hanger:o

NorthernChinchilla · 12/04/2012 12:16

Hah, I've been caught out by that foolish 'only looking at the hanger and madly assuming that it correlated to what was hanging on it' too LMF, that'll learn us... Grin.

And may I add a yay for lists too MsB, I live by mine.

AnAirOfHope · 12/04/2012 12:32

Hope is crying in her sleep :(

aethelfleda · 12/04/2012 13:06

Arg for all the grumpy/poorly babies and healing vibes to all who need them. DS has been very clingy/fussy today and on changing his bottom at luchtime I found out why: his left jab site has a large puffy red local reaction that looks really sore. I have seen these before and know its just a side effect and not an allergy/infection but am going to be giving regular painkillers to him til it looks better (I've checked his weight and know the "real" doses in the kiddies BNF drug book, as opposed to what's on the bottle).poor mite, no wonder he was grumpy!

This has somewhat curtailed our plans for the day but such is life. My long Overdue garden sortout will have to wait, we'll go to the park with DS in baby sling for added mummy snuggles...

Oh, and air, the best way to avoid gagging with those oral suringes id put it in the side of baby's mouth and squirt a small amount (1/4-1/2 a ml) into the side of the back of a cheek pouch (think like a hamster), it doesnt trigger the gag reflex that way. Allow about 20 secs for it to dissapate then dp another small amount til the suringe is empty. Then offer them a boob or a bottle of water/milk: as they drink it it will ensure the meds get in and take away the taste. Good luck!
