yorkshirepuddling · 04/03/2006 00:58

Hi edodgy

Yeah they should get on well - whatever electronics engineer is, I'm not convinced there is an awful lot of work involved in my dp's day. I did english and history at university, looking to go into teaching eventually too, but it would be for english I think rather than history.

Can't remember who asked but getting married in Sheffield, big family do as my dp has lots of friends, I may know a couple of people there, if i'm allowed to invite anyone Grin doing honeymoon in Newquay as I am scared stiff of flying and we can't afford a summer holiday as well, plus we are taking Holly, but I did insist on a suite with a room view rather than the usual back of hotel over bins room.

yorkshirepuddling · 04/03/2006 00:58

and whats the yahoo group, I think I missed that one

beartime · 04/03/2006 08:00

gosh - did we all have a late night last night?!!

hi edodgy - lurkers scare me - wot if someone I know is lurking and finding out all my innermost secrets...?! anyway you're out now so that's good!

Golden - its actually him that thinks its getting on a bit, I'll tell him about your DH that might get us a few more babies Grin

Diege · 04/03/2006 08:08

Morning!!Grin. Thanks BOB for stats page, and welcome Edodgy Smile; wow, you live where I work, and are pretty close to Warrington too Smile.
Well, snow-city here today, so don't think parents will be able to make it over from Wales Sad. Hope DH is OK on his mountain biking weekend in Ambleside too Shock.
Must add GOLDEN that baggy size 8 was when pregnant with dd1, but I was a weedy, very underweight size 4-6 before then (not nice). There's no way an 8 would be baggy now Grin.
OK, this yahoo thing; who do I ask for an invite?? (SORRY!!!!, I have no excuse not knowing!!)
Diege Smile

goldenoldie · 04/03/2006 08:35

Baby - i use cushions, and no, I don't suggest others do it except as a last resort/need a break/desperate for a cup of tea.

With multiples it is common practice, but it can be dangerous if baby is not watched carefully, and babies need to be held while feeding for good emotional development. Do it at your own risk!!!

Diege - have you seen Liberty in the Footballers Wives? Any resembalance to baby Liberty!!!

Diege · 04/03/2006 08:59

LOL GOLDEN Smileat FW! I have to admit I was gutted when I found out there was a chracter called Liberty in it; thank god mine was born first (IYSWIM!), or would have been in the 'Chardonnay' camp of mums BlushHaving said that, always liked the name Amber too, so maybe I have a secret inkling Grin.

BEKsmum · 04/03/2006 09:59

Morning all

Have added my stats, well done Bob!

Golden I'm with you I love House, but I always forget it's on. Never got into ER though, but my brother loves it.
Can quite understand why you use prop ups with the twins, I feel like I need to get some me space and I've only got the one!

Diege, 4, 6, & 8 I thought they were ages not clothes sizes Smile, please tell me you're something bigger than a 10 now or I think I might just have to kill myself Grin

For those who asked you need to ask Busy to invite you to join the Yahoo group

Yorkshire, congratulations on the wedding, you must be really excited but don't you just love "sniffy" staff in bridal shops, I nearly clouted one when I was buying my dress!!!

Tessa & tex, Ben loves Doodle Do too and is badgering me to get off the pc so he can play on it, have escaped the theme tune somehow though - not enough space in my tiny mind I think!

Right best go and get ready as Ben has a MacDonalds party to go too, this morning before drama, how comes his social life is so much better than mine and I just get to play taxi? [smile} Hope you all have a good weekend Beks

Welcome aboard Edodgy, hope you've managed to keep up with us while you've been watching from the sidelines, as you can see we chat a lot!

Diege · 04/03/2006 10:26

Hi BEKS! Well, I am 'technically' in a size 8, but very tight, and lots of 'overhang'. My frame is quite petite, so can only get so big I suppose, although you can really tell when shorties like me put on weight as it's harder to hide (have I convinved you? Blush)!
Is anyone else snowed in, or just me (and TWINKLE of course!!!)
Hope DH can make it back from Lake District tonight - not worried about him,but my sanity on my own with 3 of them. Already had an 'incident' this morning. HINT: Libby's first 'solid' is snow Blush.
Oh and BUSY, could you send me an invite to the yahoo group please? My e-mail is [email protected] - there, you know my name now too Smile.

bob2110 · 04/03/2006 12:07

Crikey, you lot do chat a lot.

TV - on most of time in our house and do leave DD in front of it to get on with stuff. Mostly adult stuff but she does seem to like music channels & cartoons - think because of bright colours.

Brownie & Golden - love CSI in this house. DP watches all of them. Vegas my favourite - Warrick phwoar!

Yorkshire - congrats on the wedding, lovely news.

No mags in this house - I used to have a supplier when I was at work but can't justify the cash now salary has stopped.

Books were my big vice when working (train to London & back great for reading) but just don't seem to find the time now & really miss it.

Do you all see your HV each week? Our weighing is self-service in the waiting room & have to ask to see HV so mostly don't bother - is this bad? Kind of gave up on her anyway as any problem I mentioned she put down to wind! Think this may be genetic anyway as DP is rather good at farting & burping Wink.

DD has had her first invitation to be bridesmaid. DP's sister got engaged in Paris (very romantic & a big surprise). Wedding not til 2008!

Diege - size 8 wow! Can't remember when I was that size. Too embarrassed to admit size now Blush.

I have added our stats.

DP is hovering trying to read this so am off to find him something constructive to do... laundry, hoovering, ironing...

yorkshirepuddling · 04/03/2006 12:17

Size 8?!?!?!?!?!?

Actually thinking about it, I could get into a size 8, but only if I was only wanting to dress my arm or my leg - gosh I feel hugggggggeeeeeeee now, I'll have to throw the choccie brownies away........(ok one more then)

We had a slightly better night last night, but she still woke up a few times, do I remember reading that they may have growth spurts at 3-4 months, I was wondering if it was that since she had the jabs a few days ago, either that or I was enjoying her sleeping through the night too much.

Busy - Can I have an invite too, [email protected]

Right have to go and pick dp and Holly up, took her out in the snow this morning, looking like a snowman in her snow suit, he's walked about 4 miles and needs a lift home. But at least he walked to my parents so that'll keep them happy for a while.

Londoner · 04/03/2006 12:27

HelloSmile,

Wow, what a lot to catch up on!

Nova - am with you on remembering all the questions as you read but then forgetting by the time you write! Sometimes I open two windows and comment as I read... Have the builders gone yet? Would go out for the day if I were you and do something lovely with Natalie, undisturbed by builders...
BoB - tried to send you an invite to Yahoo a few weeks ago but couldn't see how to, maybe it has to be from Busy? Lol at you cutting off a dirty vest, lol. If they're really mucky I've learnt to take them off by pulling them down instead of over their head which is easy with the envelope style necked vests....although haven't had any of those poo explosions really since using washable nappies, they're ace. Oh have just seen Tex has already pointed this out.
Beks - like your new motto..."you wake them-you keep them..." v. good!lol!
On magazine question, I used to be a bity of a mag hag before I discovered MN! Grin I do still take Vogue thoughGrin.
Tex lol at 'this little piggy went to Prada' will have to look out for that how funny! Good idea changing all the sheets etc, good to evacuate bedrooms as well if you can for a few hours and leave the windows open if poss.
Yorkshire - congrats on your forthcoming wedding. I thought a lot of dress makers were fine with 6 months notice.... maybe not your cup of tea, but I think Debenhams do some great wedding dresses off the peg ( take 2 weeks I think to get your dress shipped from the warehouse) by designers such as Jasper
Conran \link{http://www.debenhamsweddings.com/site_services/article_summary.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1236293&bmUID=1141472644548\here}. You could always get one and then customise it if you wanted?
Am a big tv fan too, love films, dvd's and the movies loads.
Love books too, although like to read them when I'm alone, so that's not very often then! At the moment am reading Zadie Smith's 'Beautiful', how about you Golden?
Candi - Alleyn's is the best for 11-18's IMO but we're super lucky here in Greenwich and spoilt for choice with fantastic state schools at Nursery and Primary level. My eldest goes out of the borough for secondary education to a grammar school as the 11-18's provision isn't so good.
Brownie - what's CSI?Blush
Busy - that Pod thing is amazing, wish they'd been around when I had babies and little ones, good find!
Tessa, know what you mean about the weaning problem. Always found myself in the same boat as you in the past, when we were told you should wean at 3 months. That's what's given me the strenth to hang in there this time, remembering that there's a 3 month spurt and a 4 month spurt- I held in this time and sure enough we got through them and she went back to being contented and sleeping through the night again. Don't know if this would have happened with the others though. I do remember that all of them pretty much reverted back to being solely bf for a few weeks at @ 5 months though.....
Golden, when we meet up we call eachother by our real names... don't you, lol? Agree it would be funny if we used our pseudonyms!
Beartime, sorry to hear you're feeling down, please make sure you tell your husband and any family/friends, it's so important to have support, you will get through it, hang in there. There is a major drop in hormones around 3 months post partum by the way which could explain it?
Hi edodgy! Glad you plucked up the courage to talk to us... the more the merrier!Smile
Well better wrap up before I get a prize for the longest post ever!
Have a great weekend all!

Londoner · 04/03/2006 12:34

Talking of bottle propping etc....have you ladies seen these?
\link{http://www.twinsthings.co.uk/podee_bottle.htm\hands free bottles!}
\link{http://www.bonnybabies.com/feedinghf.htm\and more pics of it in action here..}

Diege · 04/03/2006 13:28

Oh wow Londoner, love the bottle link! Have my own hands-free system which is free, but not always satisfactory (ie. seems to be a problem getting it all down her). It's my DH!...should return for a refund Grin.
Err, yes, what's CSI? Blush
Re: size 8, I must stress that it's not a pleasant sight, a serious case of muffin top at present; soooo, my size 8 relates to my bones, as opposed to my skin/fat? Am I just making it worse? Grin.
Sun is out now, and snow is starting to clear Smile, must get out for a walk, as kids are going stir crazy, and can't get digi box to work (arhhh!!! no Cbeebies!)
Speak later if I survive,
Diege Smile.

goldenoldie · 04/03/2006 14:14

Londoner - I've got some Podee bottles, but I'm not that impressed with them.

I've just read Ishiguro's 'never let me go', def. think he should have won the Booker for this, and am now reading his 'When we were orphans'.

goldenoldie · 04/03/2006 14:25

csi - crime scene investigations

novadandypowder · 04/03/2006 15:09

yep, we're currently working our way through CSI (Vegas), can't remember what season we're on, think it's 3? Looking forward to the new season of The Sopranos coming soon, although we're also really into Prison Break on Five. The tension of that show just does me in, I feel like i'm constantly holding my breath.

Don't like reading unless I can get through it in peace and quiet, hence the mags that I can just dip in and out of. Was really into Sudoku though before Nat arrived, gets the old grey matter working.

Natalie has a cold so I had to spend the whole of last night cuddling her in bed. I am now in a 'tired and therefore my DH can do no right' mood Wink. On top of that they've had to shut the gas supply off to our house as they think the tree outside in the street is digging into the pipe (said tree is also causing our house to move and crack so hopefully the council with get off their bums and sort it). The gas company were trying to come and fix it today, but said they may not be able to make it until tomorrow Shock. Good job we have electric heaters and ovens, but shame about the hot water.

novadandypowder · 04/03/2006 15:11

oh, and the builders are currently demolishing and rebuilding the inside of house next door to us - it's been going on for about a month now, and will be on-going for a while yet Sad. No escaping it I'm afraid, hence why I should probably try and keep them side.

babyonboard · 04/03/2006 15:24

hi all,

nova - what a pain! i remeber when they were renovating the flat below us, we couln't get rid of the toxic paint smells..and they used to do it after work, so constant noise from 7-11pm and all weekend..argh..

can't wait for the sopranos! it starts in america next week so i'm hoping the episodes will be availble to download on i -tunes.

best dash..busy busy busy this weekend..and still got massive lundry backlog to deal with..argh
we have just ordered a washer dryer which will make life so much easier..it's a pain constantly having tiny socks and clothes drying all over the house...
next step is to see if we can scrifice some cupboard space for a dishwasher..please let it be!

hope you all have nice weekends..

Karmamother · 04/03/2006 16:25

Afternoon all,

Beksmum, it was great to talk to to you, albeit for only a few mins. Hope Thomas has recovered from his jabs.

BoB, was going to say that Tiktok corrected me for thinking the same thing about the centile charts, but Beartime has already mentioned it. How I understand it is that they're not totally invalid for BF babies, its just the pattern of growth is different. They gain a lot at first then settle down. A bit Envy at you getting a dryer, we have the same problem with clothes everywhere!

Diege, LOL at the comments about you being a 8. I think I was an 8 when I was at primary school.Grin

Londoner, thanks for the link about those bottles. I'll pass it on to the twins mum at my PN group. She's a bit dizzy so she might appreciate some help with feeding. I told her about MN last week, I'm slowly spreading the gospel...!

Re: magazines, I've managed to cut down drastically on my weekly amount. This is partly due to MN as I was buying lots of parenting ones. My current list is, Heat (never miss it) & the occasional OK. Had to buy it this week to check out Jordan's new hair-do. I was a bit sceptical when she said she didn't need her medication (for PND) any more. When I took mine last time I was told I'd be on them for at least a year. Still, can't be easy with Harvey's medical/behavioural issues. But then again, she is very rich.....[devil's horns emoticon]

Hi to edodgy, I live in North Yorkshire, isn't Yorkshire a big area? I'd love to attend a MN meet-up but I reckon it'll need a drive to Manchester or Sheffield.

Had a funny day with Ella yesterday. She seemed to be not very interested in booby milk all day. I tried to feed her in a parent's room & all she wanted to do was look at a 3wk old baby. I felt a bit silly with my right nork on display whilst she was looking around the room.Blush I'd had a lot of garlic the previous day so I wondered if that was the reason. She had a reasonable feed at bedtime & slept 8-6 so I had difficulty lifting myself out of bed this morning....very Pammie Anderson!

Anyone watching Just The Two Of Us tonight? Or am I the only saddo??Grin

Karmamother · 04/03/2006 16:31

Ooh, forgot to say, thanks to whoever mentioned Lush's Dream Cream. Got some for Ella yesterday & it's a miracle! I got rid of her cradle cap using dentinox shampoo but it left her head really dry & flaky. Stuck some dream cream on & it cured it immediately. This morning I covered her in it!! When I was in Lush I noticed some stuff called Karma Kream. Had a little chuckle.
