OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JenJam · 02/03/2006 09:52

one handed typing by the way....as b-feeding.

oh one more nickname i recalled last night during dream feed---

mr snuffle-upicus - whren he was very small - 2 days old he used to make a piglet snuffly noise while trying to latch on

wish is recorded that noise it was soooo cute

Candiemom · 02/03/2006 10:29

How is it that you are all celebrities in mags? Can someone just give me a hint as to which mags have you in them??

Babybounce club sorry I am missing it but as I worried we have had a bit of a reaction to our jabs this morning so we're going to stay in. DD zonked out at moment. Maybe next week?

New formula actually went well I am guessing the transition last weekend where we did some of one of the formulas and some of the other was the problem the old formula has dairy and makes her tummy contract and the new formula is thin so came up. So far, no major spit ups and settling well so your good vibes have worked. Every moment I curse my stupid breasts for failing me because otherwise she is so content. Yorkshirepuddling thanks for the tips -- can I ask what kind of swing you got?

Jen dd spends 10 minutes + without her nappy on but I just got those disposable change mats so she can do longer. It's so good for her and she loves it. I'd do it more but it's a bit cold these days and even if the room is warm she seems to feel it. On the creche, probably if you meet the people working in it you will know a gym that has a creche is likely a high calibre one, so the people working there will probably been fine. Equally you want to feel they are going to be a safe pair of hands and I would probably think like you -- transient and perhaps not the sharpest. Is the creche close to the rest of the gym so you can keep an eye out? Or would they let you bring her along with you in her carrier? My sister did that and just sat her next to all the machines etc. (at non-busy time of course) and it worked great.

Tex on your new kitchen -- my oven and stove have been broken for weeks now (only three elements work and oven not at all) so I can tell you that Duchy make some fine micro meals AND you can discover the joys of soup (Tideford and Duchy again for organic but I find there are so many great soups). I am a sad person as I am SO excited to be getting the new hob and cooker I have selected that I agreed to wait this long. I do NO HOUSEWORK myself uness it's a bit of tidying here and there. While working I had a cleaner and I still have him (yes him). This is my mother's fault because she had a cleaner and never taught me the joys of housework. I have several books on it (not kidding) but it never took. He does the laundry too. I am not a very good housewife...

Nova, I would have been mad at the minder. A phone call might have helped. Where do you guys stroll in the park?

DD's passport came through yesterday so we can plan our trip to my home and native land -- leave 13 March. Whilst home we are getting dd christened at my church (I don't really go to one here. Lapsed.)

Well, what a great read this morning. It is a gorgeous day here and if dd is a bit more cheerful we will go in to get my engagement ring resized (knuckles just haven't gotten back to pre-pregnancy size and everyone must think I'm a single parent!).

What a blabbermouth I am. More later.

bob2110 · 02/03/2006 12:03

Candi, glad feeding went well and sorry about reaction to jabs - is it 2nd set?

DD seems to delay her reaction for 48 hours after jabs, not sure if this is normal?

Very smiley today despite being up since 4.30am although she has had a nap which is very unusual.

Latest trick is to put one hand up to her ear which DP thinks is her mimicking me on the phone (as if!). I did point out that she also spends a great deal of time sitting in a chair "talking" nonsense which perhaps is behaviour learned from daddy Grin.

How is the snow up north? Very cold down here but sunny & no snow left from last night so really must get out for some fresh air.

Looking forward to footballers' wives tonight without interuption as DP away. Lovely, glass of wine, feet up, snuggled up with cats on sofa...

Hope you all have a good day.

Londoner · 02/03/2006 12:41

hello allSmile

beks, thanks, i'd love 2 come - tex says thursday and i'll keep it free....did you say cake? ..mmmmmm....yum!
BoB - you sound feisty enough to deal with itWink....hang in there - i'm a real fan of going out all day and stuff the housework too...also if you're out all day there's not so much tidying up in the 1st placeGrin.
bob2-lol at your dd mimicking you on the phone...love it! Our dd also sits in bouncy chair & 'chats', 'blah blah blah ' for ages, hilarious isn't it! Hope you enjoy your evening ahead, sounds gorg.
candi - how lovely to just be able to spend all your free time on yourself and baby with no housework - hope dd feels okay after jabs - is normal to have response come on anytime during 1st 72 hours following jabs. Glad to hear new formula going well and sorry you feel down about not being able to breast feed. Ooh you've reminded me i must also sort out dd's passport, thanks.
Jen your posts all made me smile, good to hear you feeling so perky! Hope you and golden have a great day. Leave E's nappies off for 5/10 mins most nappy changes as she too loves a good gallop!
Diege - well done on getting rid of libby's red chin crease...what is dream cream? Poor Libby with her coldSad. How'd the driving go?
busy - glad to hear you had a good night's sleep, hope alfie feels better soon.
Brownie - any more news on the tooth? How exciting!
Golden - i love that prog too, 'the apprentice' drat, missed it! Hope you havew a good day with jen and all the baby activities...
Hi beartime, mamman, rodeo, layla, lilj twinkle enthusia, nova and everyone!
E slept through last night from 11-7 after 10 days of feeding every hour during day and every 2-3 at night so feel we've come through to the other side of the 4 month growth spurt-phew! Feels really good, have never got a baby this far on milk alone and am really enjoying it.... am aiming for 6 months.....fingers crossed.....have a great day all!

Londoner · 02/03/2006 12:42

Hi to yorkshire too, didn't mean to leave you out there!

beartime · 02/03/2006 12:44

No JJ its not me - I'm a nobody Grin

Candie - he does the laundry too??! Does he come everyday or something?!

novadandypowder · 02/03/2006 13:18

questions, questions...

nappy free time - usually leave her for a few mins kick around between nappy changes, other than that she gets 15 mins bath and massage time before bed.

childminder:
Pay: £8ph
Age: 30
Nationality: Columbian
Threat of affair with DH: Low
How we found out about her: She used to be DH's cleaner until she was stolen by his business partner to be their housekeeper/nanny. She got deported over a year ago (long legal battle etc) but is now back. No longer needed as nanny to the other kids so is free in the afternoons to look after Natalie.
How often she looks after Nat: Currently 2 afternoons a week, and any evening we need her. Looking at using her a lot more when number 2 comes along.

Phoning up about schools today, and it's a good job too as most of them are full already for 2010!!! Some are choosing in a couple of months time so I've got to get those forms in fast.

yorkshirepuddling · 02/03/2006 14:49

candiemom - we have a babydan swing. Got it secondhand off ebay for £30. Holly wouldn't go in it for the first 8 weeks or so butnow she is a little bigger she loves it. She was in it from 7pm to 11pm both last night and the night before, sleeping in it on a low setting. We use it almost every night for hours at a time and we are still on the first lot of batteries. It is quite bulky but saves our arms as before she would only calm down when being walked around the room. Doesn't work everytime, and doesn't stop her crying to be held at mealtimes - I think she has a sixth sense about that.

BEKsmum · 02/03/2006 15:40

Afternoon girls

Tex, Londoner, Bob definietly on for Thursday. What sort of time suits everyone? I was thinking 10:30 - 11am ish? Londoner I did say cake as it's Ben & Bob's B'Day on the wednesday, don't shout it out though as those on SW might lynch us!!!!

Candimom we're going to Greenwich Park, that's easy for you isn't it? Why don't you come along too. Does your cleaner give lessons to other men 'cos I've got one grown male & two little boys who could do with some lessons Grin

Jen or any of the N London mums do you fancy joining us if the weathers not too bad?

Have just taken mum & dad to the airport - boo, but they're back again in April so it's not too bad really.

Oh b*er, have just realised I missed Thomas's jabs yesterday, have grovelled to the dragon receptionists and rescheduled for tomorrow. What fun now I've got to take him on my own instead of having mum around to help {stream of expletives!!!}

Right off to get something for dinner, speak to you all later Beks

BEKsmum · 02/03/2006 15:41

Meant to say welcome aboard Yorkshire Pudding!!!

novadandypowder · 02/03/2006 16:04

yes, how rude from me - Welcome Yorkshire Pudding Grin

Natalie is asleep in her buggy after swimming, but the magazines I've just bought are in the basket underneath it and I can't get them out without disturbing her - hmm I didn't think that one through.

Been thinking about something the receptionist at one of the schools said and it'll make you lol:
receptionist: will your husband or partner be coming to the visit?
me: I'm not too sure I'll need to double check, but I would hope so
receptionist: yes, is it your husband or your partner?

I bet it does actually make a difference to them!

JenJam · 02/03/2006 17:13

nova - schools already selecting attendees for 2010 ??? o. m. g!

i don't even know where i want to live in 5 years time - I haven't even got finn down for a nursery place yet!!!! Are these state or private schools nova?

lovely day at yours golden...thanks for coffee, tea and biscuits. very impressed with your handling of the twins. btw I will forever have in my head 'if only my work colleagues can see me now' whenever i sing 'the mothers on the bus go chatter chatter chatter' while bouncing finn on my knee in a public library. good to see you again LilJ and meet your cutiepie. until next friday on the blackstock road.

right best get on - james just asked me if 'i always log onto mumsnet as soon as i get home'

err. not always

JenJam · 02/03/2006 17:16

beksmum thanks for invite - are you talking next thurs out east...as think it might be too much for me as I already have alot of plans next week

goldenoldie · 02/03/2006 18:27

Ooooooooo, another disaster on 'deal no deal'. Anyone else see it?

JenJam & LilJ - good to see you both today. Think the babies and mummies enjoyed baby bounce! Let's do the Pram club next time.

Nova - glad you've not made me feel too much of a cheapskate, but for NNEB qualified, with uptodate first aid cert for babies, CRB checked, with nearly 20 years experience and fantastic refs. feel we are getting a complete bargain. Just a shame she won't be able to do three full days for me when i go back to work in June.

And when is no:2 coming Nova - soon?..............

Schools - tell me about it - everything gets booked up so fast at private schools in London - and they have to sit a test at 4 to get in!

I've put my munchkins down on waiting lists for 3 local nurseries - but only those that don't charge a non-refundable fee to go on the list. If I'm very lucky, the earliest i will get a place is September, but it is more likely to be in a year or more.

Beks - Greenwich is a bit of a trek for me with the DTs so i will give it a miss. Enjoy yourselves.

novadandypowder · 02/03/2006 19:21

oooo missed Deal or No Deal, I've got into it recently as it usually corresponds with Nats nap time. How much did they get? I felt a bit cheated by the fact that the 100th episode was the one where the woman had the £250K in her box. If I was her I would have dealt at exactly the same place.

I'm looking at 4 private schools, although one has already told me they're full, but I can go on the waiting list. Think my first choice might also be a case of waiting list, but hoping we might get preferential treatment for living so close to it. Notting Hill Prep hold a ballot to choose who gets the places and thats in May, so we're in time for that one.

Got my Practical Parenting mag - very lovely BAM and a whole double page spread!!!

Number 2 has to wait for me to be a bridesmaid and for us to have a holiday first so probably looking at early next year I guess.

DH has just got an Easter DJ slot, so we'll be back out night clubbing soon Grin

beartime · 02/03/2006 19:29

Nova - how do you do the whole catnap in the chair thing - Caleb never seems to fall asleep by himself, I either have to rock him very vigorously in the chair till I';m worn out and he's screamed the place down or I just need to put him in bed for 15/30 mins. But then he is a touchy baby!

browniechick · 02/03/2006 19:33

Hello - Took T to the baby clinic today to get him weighed etc. Thomas is now weighing in at a hefty 14lb 12oz!!!!!! Also got his length measured - 63cm!

Golden - yes did watch DorND - had no symapthy yesterday - thought the guy (who I thought looked a bit like Nicholas PArsons!?) was a greedy bugger and should have gone at £9,900. Today - slightly more sympathy, although why are they all so irratating?????

Nova - where is it you live again, are you near to me?? And yes, what is all this talk of baby no. 2??????!!!!!!! something we should know?? Wink

Can't remember who asked about tooth (Londoner?) - no more sign of it yet, although have now got nappy rash too - so deffo think that it is all systems go - have seen a small hole in his gum, so watch this space!

Hello to everyone else. Am v. Envy of all your meetups - why does noone live near me?! Shouldn't complain too much though, as do meet up with Mums from the PNG once a week which is really nice.

Speak later, pie and chips for tea tonight - so dh is off to the chip shop now!!!! yummy!!!!

Brownie & Thomas
x

bob2110 · 02/03/2006 20:40

Just a quickie, have been browsing Kiddicare.com & they have a BabyDan swing for £50 down from £100 - bit of a bargain - think it was Candi who was asking about them?

Am off to eat/drink all the stuff I tell DP I don't touch (he is away tonight) & then hide all the wrappers! Am feeling particularly unhousewifely as have been watching Anthea Turner's prog on BBC3 - urgh, if I didn't know I was slovenly before, I certainly do now... Wink.

goldenoldie · 02/03/2006 20:43

Quick question - Are any of your babies rolling over yet?

Nova - he went all the way and ended up with £1 in his box!

Brownie - agree with you. Some of them are just too greedy.

Nova - Is your DH a DJ?

twinkle1 · 02/03/2006 20:43

twinkle

bob2110 · 02/03/2006 20:48

Yes, Georgie is rolling over but then she is officially too old to be in this group! She first did it on Fri 13th Jan & DP says she is obviously a witch like her mother as she did it just once and didn't then do it again for weeks! She can only go from back to front, not all the way round yet.

beartime · 02/03/2006 21:41

no not rolling over - and I've almost given up on tummy time, cos they say to do it when they're most alert, but then it gets him so stimulated that the rest of the time till his next feed or nap he's upset and needs to be held!!

Busyalexsmummy · 02/03/2006 21:49

Diege-Yes you definately appreciate a long spell after a succession of bad nights, does wonders for the bags awell Grinlol

JenJam-"hot sex" lol, hmmmm, slightly mis-quoted there methinksWink....hot sex at 41 weeks pregnant?lol ....more like grin and bear it and hope it works!!!GrinWink
My second labour(counted from when i went into hospital at 4-5cms, was about 9hrs)I loved the water birth, it really calmed me, but i did end up feeling sick as it was so warm but luckily there was a window by the pool, so just kept getting up,opening it wide and shoving head out, this worked until my temp went up and pulse went to 140bpm so i had to get out for monitering for 40mins-which was hell and felt like 4hrs before they let me back in it!
I am planning(which is the main reason im having driving lessons atm) to go back to college this sept and will be re-applying very soon, then I planned to go on the UWE and do the 3yr midwifery degree, my ten yr plan is to get back to college, then uni, then nhs, then after a cpl of years with them-maternity nursing/independant midwife.........And I cant wait, it was an amazing experience at all 3 deliveries I was at/assisting with an I cant wait till thats my full time job, its allways been something ive wanted to do and have had a passion for(and not just because of the babies!)

On the topic of swings we bought the graco one with alex off ebay for £25! and he used to love it and used it up till about 12 months, it is used for alfie too but hes not really into it-but then hes not really into anything yet-he wont sit in one place(unless feeding) for more than about 5 mins!

Welcome Yorkshire Pudding and bob2110, sorry havent been online as well as usual the past few weeks as whole familys had sicks+poos and now the cold-virus thats going round too so have had a hectic few weeks and tend only to skim-read posts and then catch up in one post when i canSmile

lol, Just sold my cosatto duet lite on ebay, was so excited about getting it, but then the time between when i ordered it(sept 9th to time it was delivered jan 19th) and when i got it, in that time ds1 has become really independant and wants to walk everywhere-he walks down town and back again!!!(we live up a big hill) and will walk for miles round the moors aswell...so are buying something else to add to my baby equipment obsession-a buggypod!! dont know if anyones seen it but I found them after xmas and secretly when the pram turned up, I was gutted and really wanted one of these instead, so now ds wants to walk-its a perfect excuse!! hehe \link{http://www.buggypod.com/\look!}

ds1 got a john deere tracker with front loader from me+ rob for his birthday and it arrived today, its HUGE! he was allowed it in the house today, buts its going in the garden tommorrow! he loves it though and his face was a picture when we were unwrapping the massive box and he realised what it was!! its kept him happy/occupied all day so I think he likes it ( its big anough for me to get on and peddle him along on my lap!Grinlol...can you guess what Ive been doing all day??....!

WOW! Have started GF's stage 1 of potty training (for thse that dont know what im on about, its when theyre still in nappies but you introduce the potty at wake/lunch/before bath and see if they'll sit/do anything) and it was his third go today as it only turned up yesterday afternoon-and before he put his p'js on-he sat on it for 10mins happily and did a wee!!!GrinGrin i made a huge fuss of him and he got a sticker so hopefully might have at least 1 more success tommorrow, I think hes going to pick it up quickly as he def knows what hes doing nowSmile

Did anyone see "pay off your morgage in 2 yrs"? I love that programm, and always feel so motivated once its over...its the end of the series now till next yr, but it'll be intresting to see how the 8cpls got on and wether anyone managed to do it-did you see the bloke tonight with those stoves-how cool, I want one!

right, best go do some tidying up as havent tidyied since poison hourWink L x

Diege · 02/03/2006 21:50

Evening Smile! Just a quickie, as heading off to bed, as feel pretty rough. Just a cold, but so crap when 'ill'!Grin. Can't believe the whole school thing Nova/Golden; pheww!!can see why some people do home schooling! No such worry here as we have an excellent primary/secondary at our doorstep (in top 6 in North Smile), all courtesy of the state Grin.
No rolling over here, though some straining forward when propped against pillow. Oh, and lots going on in bottom dept! Libby strained so hard to get a poo out today that the poppers burst open on her vest Grin. Sorry if you're having your tea! (one to tell her boyfriends!).
Good to hear from you TWINKLE, and sorry your nan is poorly again Sad. Don;t worry, will always let you know by phone when we meet up if you're not on-line Smile. Still no news from Enthusia?
Right, going to try and get into last few mins of footballer wives. Off out tommorrow on a shopping trip with a friend who is a real life FW, so hoping to pick up some tips!
Diege Smile.

Busyalexsmummy · 02/03/2006 21:53

oops, soz for all the spelling errors etc...really must start pre-viewing posts before i post them!
