A new thread for us and our little 2, 3 and very nearly 4 month olds, where is the time going??!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
beartime · 28/02/2006 21:45

You know I was thinking - he might have caught onto the toy because I had him sitting propped up in the armchair which is more upright than his usual bouncy chair or car seat - so maybe he could see it easier that way?? Am going to start Weightwatchers on 30 pts - more than DH [chuckle chuckle]

BEKsmum · 28/02/2006 22:01

Diege as much as I would like to take credit for that article it's Busyalexmum not me!!!

Hot sex I should be so lucky - cold or lukewarm would be good enough for me these days Grin. As for dh pulling up knickers all I get these days is told by my 3 year old that I wear big pants - charming Grin

Bob Wednesday would be fine for me, it's just that Ben is at pre-school all day so Toby won't get to see him but we'll see what Tex says. If it does end up being Thursday then I promise to bring you cake and candles for the cafe in the park - I'm sure the boys will be happy to help you blow them out. You are going to be some obscenely young age as well aren't you just to make me feel even older!!!

Bob2 I'm not far from you as I'm in Bromley but Enthusia and Cads are right on your doorstep although strangely neither have posted for a while. Are you still out there ladies? Hope you are both ok
We were talking about a Godstone Farm visit when the weather improves if you fancy it.

Karma I think we're going to find we've got a lot in common when we finally catch up on Friday!! Although you are obviously nicer than me because when my dh snores like that when I'm trying to settle Thomas he gets a slap, woken with a start and told to get Thomas back down as I'm going back to bed as I've been up for long enough without him making it harder Smile Although if I give you too many suggestions like that your dh might ban you from speaking to me Grin

Ha ha have just managed to get the better of the 3 year old by putting vaseline on his lips in his sleep - she shoots, she scores 1 - nil to mummy Grin

Right got to go dh wants his computer back. Speak to you all tomorrow BEKs

novadandypowder · 28/02/2006 22:20

When singing to Natalie I always replace the words of the song with her nickname, such as -
Pussycat Dolls - 'Doncha wish your baby was a munchy munch...munchy...munchy' (her full nickname is Munchkin, but I shorten it to munch as she's always chewing on her fists).

Karma - I like to get out of the house, I get a bit of cabin fever if I have to spend more than a day or two not doing anything. Saying that, sometimes it does take a lot of effort to get my butt moving.

BoB - You'll probably be better off going to the cinema, lets face it it's a bit of a schlep getting over here.

Just found out DH has to work in the states from 20th March to 5th April, which means not only is he not here but he's also going to miss the wedding on 1st April Sad (for those newbies, I'll be a bridesmaid). The childminder is going to stay in our house while I'm away for the weekend to look after Nat and the cats, as I won't really be able to take her with me. Hope she'll be ok, showed the child minder Nats night time routine on friday and she screamed the place down when the childminder tried to undress her for her bath. Think she's got a bit too used to mummy doing it...

Beartime - it's great when they start taking an interest in their toys isn't it?

Candiemom - in case you missed it I do swimming classes with Nat. We love it Grin

Bob2 - this could get confusing with two Bobs!! Welcome, it did make me lol when you said we were nicer Grin (which of course is true)

novadandypowder · 28/02/2006 22:22

crossed posts Beks - pmsl at the vaseline in his sleep!!!!

Diege · 28/02/2006 22:36

oops, sorry BAM Grin!! Funny, I always associate you with BEKS (as simple as both beginning with same letter - enough to confuse my candyfloss brain Grin.). Will have to take care with the two BOBS too! yes, felt strangely proud that we were chosen over the October thread.
Well, late for dream feed, so better go or that Gina woman will be on to me Grin.
Diege Smile.

tessasmum · 28/02/2006 22:52

Go BEKS, must store up Vaseline idea for future reference Grin

Karma - Barney's banned in our house as well as battery operated things, can't stand the patronising moralising stuff. Now I really am showing myself up as a bad Mummy Grin

Going to try dream feed again tonight but he was still up twice again after it last night so if its no better tonight I'm going to abandon it and get some sleep instead.

Night night

yorkshirepuddling · 01/03/2006 00:56

Hi Girls,

Can I come and join you guys. I live in Sheffield and my DD is 13 weeks old (born 29th Nov) I've read through all the threads but never joined in, so thought it was about time that I stopped loittering. Holly also suffers with reflux so sounds like we have something in common with a few of you guys. Oh and I'm a first time mum, and so far have found this thread more help than all the books I have read.

beartime · 01/03/2006 07:24

hi yorkshirepud - love the name! LOL abt the books - they don't really have the 'in the trenches' experience of all these mums do they?

goldenoldie · 01/03/2006 08:20

Karma - I'm with Nova. I go stir-crazy if I'm in the house for longer than a day or two and try to go out with the DTs most days.

Nova - shame DH is going away. Shame you can't go with him! My DH regularly does short European trips for work, we often used to make a long weekend out of it and go together, but those day are over............well, for a year or two anyway.

Welcome Yorkshire - one of the DTs has reflux as well.

Welcome Bob2

babyonboard · 01/03/2006 08:47

nova what a shame..bet he'll miss you and nat like crazy!
what's your bridsmaids dress like?
lol at your songs for nat too..
O has the very bizzarre nickname 'tiny brains' heeheee

beksmum..in that case we should make it tues or thurs as it'll be more fun for the boys to see each other..I'll just spend my birthday shopping , should keep me amused..lol..

hi yorkshire! i'm originally from sheffield, but moved to london 6 years ago..what area are you in?

we had a great night last night..O was asleep by 8 then slept though to 7 and has drifted back to sleep again! I want to wake him up to play..hehee
(but not with that damn radio..!!!!)

Diege · 01/03/2006 09:49

Morning all!, and welcome Yorkshirepudd! (another one for our meadowhall meet-ups perhaps? Smile. LOL about Barney; agree Karma about his tone Smile; DH can;t stand him. Read somewhere that Barney episodes were played as a form of torture for Al Quaida (sp!) suspects; even the theme tune was enough to make them fess up apparently!
Sure you'll still going to have a great time at the wedding NOVA, though still a shame DH will not be there. BTW, did you ever get your hair cut in a 'Sienna'?
Libby's rash is much better this morning Smile. I resorted to using Lush's 'dream cream', as I'd heard it's good for baby excema, and it seems to have done the trick Grin. Good old Lush!!!
Well, toddler day today; ever have days when they just seem to wind you up from the second they wake? Blush. Have been v.good mummy so far, and not risen to it, but it's still early! How long before the fuse blows I wonder Grin.
Speak later,
Diege Smile

Candiemom · 01/03/2006 10:16

Morning all,

Will try for babybounce tomorrow but no guarantee -- I'll at least be here so you can tell me what it was like if we miss it.

Kara, I laughed and laughed! My dh can also sleep though anything and I can sit in the nursery seething about it, then come to bed and he wakes a little and comes over to cuddle me and tell me he loves me. So it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to get mad. But I still do.

Refluxy yesterday. Poor thing. No formula seems to work as well as staydown but it is still tough for her. Will speak to ped today hopefully.

We are waiting to get dd's passport so we can go home on 13th. If we get it, organising will be what keeps me awake...

Beartime -- milestone!! How exciting re the playing. mine is sort of just batting a little. Current milestone is 'AAAHHH' screeching. Which is very cute.

Ok got to run. More later.

Londoner · 01/03/2006 10:23

Hi allSmile

Oh..... my........ goodness! Can't keep up guys.... now to try and find my last post to start catching up, will try....

Welcome to Bob2 and Yorkshirepud, glad to have you on boardSmile.
Tex, so sorry to hear all you're going through with the sickness and with little Rosie, I hope things are improving for you. Would love to meet up again soon.
Brownie, glad you enjoyed yourself at the weekend, and PN group sounds good.
Nova - sounds like you're having a great time with Natalie, good on you. Sorry to hear about tricky situation with juggling mummy/bridesmaid roles..... must be so hard.... you must be a very good friend.
Karma, lovely to hear your news and your post about Ella smiling at you while you type made me smile too.Smile. How was your Valentine's treat?
Jen, love the sound of your lazy days with Finn, such a good thing to do, just enjoying each others company, lovely. Wedding/jacuzzi experience sounded great. lol at your friend chucking the bouquet at you!
LilJ, glad your Geneva trip went well, lol at the aeroplane poo incident, hilarious nightmares abound when out with young children don't they!
Diege, sorry to hear you're struggling with the juggling, you are doing a lot, is anyone pampering you? If not maybe you could find some time to pamper yourself even if it's running yourself a nice bath at midnight when the house is quiet?(hopefully..)
Candiemom, sorry no experience of reflux here, sounds tough. Hope it settles soon, and for Beartime and Golden too.
Rodeo, you survived half term, hurrahSmile!
Golden, JenJam, LilJ? hope you all enjoy baby bounce on Thursday.
Tessa- good to hear your news, and hope you have a lovely dinner out tomorrow - our restaurant meal was my husband's 40th treat as well, how funny.
Beartime, glad my 'getting things done' advice helped you, it's tough adjusting to each new different stage isn't it? Just as you've got one phase sussed they move into the next one! These babies like to keep us on our toes eh!Wink
BEKs lol at your friend's 'revolting' wedding jewelleryShock! Glad to hear you're on the upSmile. When did you say you're meeting up, can I come?
Candi and BoB- it's 'Syriana' starring George Clooney and Matt Damon Grin at the Big Scream this Friday... at 11.30am. I'll be going too, with my dh.......... he's taking the day off, yay!
Oop, E's woken up, have to go, hi Layla everyone else too!

Rodeo · 01/03/2006 10:30

Morning :)

Glad you've come to join us Yorkshire Grin, you and Holly will have to come to Meadowhall for our next meet up! Bob, do you come up this way often? Would be great to meet you & O too....Me and Diege (and any other nutter who wants to join us) will have to get ourselves sorted with our venture south soon too!

Bob, what is that song on Radio 1 they keep playing - it's really catchy with the lyric 'You've got my heart in a headlock'?? I keep missing who it's by, is it Feeder? I love it anyway and keep singing it at Jess(even though I don't know the words and just go lalaaa lalalalalaaaa)

Also Bob, My trick with those annoying toys is sellotape over the speaker holes - not as cruel as taking batteries out but a lot easier on the ears!

And Jess gets the nickname 'Porkchop' or sometimes 'chickenleg' Have no idea why! I have the annoying habit of calling her 'the baby' - I must stop it!! Any other baby nicknames??

Diege - I've heard Lush Dream Cream is lovely it's scentless isn't it or at least very mild. And I've heard it clears excema too so it must be true. Just found J has a red patch under her chin too! Must be dribble, sick and the cold combined.

Have found J is starting to squeal now at her big sis and bro when she wants there attention (which they are straight over with!) Very cute!

Nova, how pants about dh working away. I'm sure it will be great anyway, but it is nicer going as a couple. You'll have to fend off the best man and all those ushers by yourself Grin

Karma - hope you had a better night last night and have a nice time at your PN group today. Agree with the others try to get out at least once everyday, even if it's just a walk round the block, the fresh air and sunshine (or rain!) will do you good. Hold on in there girl :)

Beks I smother all of mine in vaseline!! They don't get away [GRIN] I hate seeing children (why is it usually boys?!) with sore chapped lips and chins from them licking them and being in the wind. I have to resist attacking them with my pot of trusty grease!!

Hi to all the other mummies and babies too, hope you are all well :)

Right - housework to be getting on with.......

OP posts:
JenJam · 01/03/2006 11:38

cor blimey you lot can talk!
we've got the lurgy - snotty noses and cough cough (it touches my heart when finn does a little high pitched cough cough)

finn has exzcema arms and last night my entire body broke out in a horrid rash while i was washing up (well that's my excuse from now on anyway); including that fat chunky bit at the back of my hips

diege i'm going to try that dream cream from lush. skin looks yuck. wonder why i'm gettin git didn't have it before i was pregnant - as i said to golden this morning - perhasp my body is delayed shock

psml at nicknames - porkchop! mmmm; munchy!

finn is rather unoriginally sometimes known as cheeky chimp or hungry horace; most of the time he is finny winny; piggy wiggy; silly billy with his jelly belly and his smelly welly nappy wappy. i have reverted to my seven year old self.

must go - he's very quiet in his swinging chair thing next door. do you leave your babies in another room from yourselves; other than where they sleep or do you attend them all the time

until later, bye x

Candiemom · 01/03/2006 11:55

i don't attend to dh all the time. my dd is fine on her own which had me worried last week (was I doing enough?) but I seem to be over that now. It is supposed to be good for them and in fact better if you don't interupt their personal time and play if they're doing ok. but who knows??

My nicknames: missy moo and miss mouse. and depending on what she is doing Complainy Complainerson from Complainsville or Smiley Smilerson from Smilington; mini J as she looks just like my dh.

Candiemom · 01/03/2006 11:55

oops i meant i don't attend to dd all the time -- typing with 1 hand... and half a brain

Londoner · 01/03/2006 12:07

Rodeo - is it Imogen Heap?... 'Headlock'...used for the 'Narnia' soundtrack....

Also call E 'the baby' a lot which I really enjoy as it's so lovely to have a baby in the house again .. .... and dd1 calls her 'blobs' Blush as this is what she reckoned E was saying a lot of the time when she 1st experimented with sounds..... am trying to replace this with something more flattering/prettier...any ideas?lol!

goldenoldie · 01/03/2006 12:15

JenJam - 'do you leave babies in room by themselves' - yes, if they are quiet for longer than two minutes I scarper and try and get a load of washing/drying sorted, or cup of tea, get a start on dinner.............

Nicknames - cheeky chicken, mr potato head, and beady eyes - hope to stop before they are bringing forst girlfriends home.....................Second thoughts - if I don't like said girlfriend I will carry on!!

goldenoldie · 01/03/2006 12:17

I'm soooooooooo looking forward to being the evil MIL! 'Oh no, you don't do it like that dear'........

bob2110 · 01/03/2006 12:22

Afternoon ladies,

Am glad I'm not the only one who lies in bed seething about dp's ability to sleep through crying. DD is still in our room & I wake at the slightest snuffle but he just keeps snoring. Nothing as flash as a Harley, more like an old tractor! Can't complain too much as he did night duty last night - DD is waking on the hour every hour with a blocked nose. DP's legs are longer than mine & he can rock the crib with his foot without getting out of bed. So tired yesterday that even this made me cross.

It would be lovely to meet up with any of you who are down this way, and Godstone Farm when the weather is better sounds good.

Am trying to pluck up the courage to join a post-natal group down here. Really silly to be so shy but am finding it difficult. I had to cancel our NCT ante-natal classes as we were moving house so missed out on meeting other mums there & now feel it is too late. Am I being daft? Mostly am fine but sometimes panic that DD will be the only child with no friends at her 1st birthday party if I don't get out there & that this will scar her for life and she will always be a social outcast - when did I become paranoid? I really must get a grip and failing that I really must get on with some housework while DD is dreaming in her crib.

Rodeo · 01/03/2006 12:53

Go for it Bob2! You seem really easy to get on with so you'll have no probs :)

Haahaaaaaa!!! Those nicknames are very good, love yours Candi, and Mr Potato Head and Beady eyes made me PMSL GO!! Grin

I to am like golden and leg it when J is quiet to get on with the household duties, has to be done sometimes :) ......

OP posts:
goldenoldie · 01/03/2006 13:14

You lucky ladies with a DH in the same bed - mine is not even on the same floor! Sympathise with the snoring tho - I can still hear him through the ceiling!

The DTs have our bedroom, I'm in the nursery and DH is in spare room - how did that happen?.........

Diege · 01/03/2006 13:17

Afternoon! Smile. Love the nicknames! Not very inspiring here, range from the boring 'Mrs' to 'fat face' Blush, to 'Libster' (yawn). Was much better with dd 1&2, with dd1 'featherhead' from day beause of her funny hair Grin.
BOB2, you will be FINE with your post-natal group, though I am the same; took me weeks to pluck up the courage to go, but they are friendly (though it did take a few weeks as - not to put you off - some people in these groups can be a bit 'cliqey' (sp!!!!)Just don;t take it personally, and ask everyone about themselves& their babies, as this always breaks the ice! Definitely one of those things that feels worse thinking about than actually doing!
Believe it or not, I was dead nervous and shy about meeting with the Northern posters, but now so glad I did! Grin.
Re: baby in other room, we are lucky (or not?!) in having an open plan downstairs, so I can never get away from her Wink; she's not always in sight though. Sometimes I think it's just best to give them time by themselves, esp. if they are content just staring at hands/gurglng, or seemingly doing nothing. Always regret intervening at these times, as she ususally starts bawling!
Yes RODEO, we must sort ourselves out for London meet!!Shall we say early April? Will have to sort out trains etc; mine will get into Euston, was yours St. Pancreas? (whereever that is!). Oh how will we ever survive in the big smoke!
You'll have a great time LONDONER at the cinema with DH; push the boat out and have lunch out too I say, though probably not Nobu this time Grin. BTW, feel much less panicky about things, after really thinking things through and planning a timetable to get things done in Smile.
Well, lunch time beckons!
Diege Smile.

bob2110 · 01/03/2006 14:00

Thank you - you are all so kind. Will definitely sort out a group this week.

Have just realised that today is weighing day at baby clinic & I look like a trog so must go & make myself "pretty" or I won't get there before they close at 3.30pm!

Our nicknames are fairly boring too, chicken, munchkin, chubs and buffa when she was born as she was a hefty 9lbs 10ozs. Oh and grandad calls her pippin which is very funny as he is a grumpy old sod & she has completely melted his heart!

I hope you are all having a lovely day & the sun is shining where you are.
