strawberrypenguin · 23/03/2012 17:56

fuzzzy hope you and S have got over the shock of her bed roll

scheh that's great, sounds like C is really enjoying his food :) Started giving W purée today he's not been interested in food before but he seemed keenish today, I gave him carrot and he wasn't sure but still kept opening his mouth for more silly boy :o

jnice yay for sleep, I miss it. Since W has had his drain in he's been waking about 6 times a night - settles as soon as we put his dummy back in so I think he's uncomfortable. Hopefully he will go back to sleeping through once he's better.

Had a bit of an oops moment today, I have applied for a couple of jobs (better paid) in a different department at work. My immediate line manager knew because I asked her to give me a reference but I hadn't told my overall boss until I knew what was going on a bit more ie if I got an interview. Been offered an interview for both :) but my overall boss is on the interview panel! So he had found out anyway as he had short listed. I emailed him straight away and apologised and there doesn't seem to be any damage done but I'm a bit Blush

FuzzzyDuck · 23/03/2012 18:38

Does anyone have any advice for red bums?! Poor S is bright red and seems very uncomfy Sad. Started last night but much worse now. Been changing her more often and with cotton wool/water and lathering the sudocrem on. She is layin nappy less for a while but is very teary. Do u think a bit of calpol might help with the discomfort?

strawberrypenguin · 23/03/2012 18:55

Calpol has to be worth a try, maybe a bath?

Scheherezade · 23/03/2012 19:05

strawberry think I must have missed something, why has W got a drain? Poor little man :(

fuzzzy try olive oil maybe?

Scheherezade · 23/03/2012 19:06

Or pure aloe Vera or wipes with aloe Vera added

FuzzzyDuck · 23/03/2012 19:12

strawberry I gave her bath this morning in vain attempt to get oil out her hair but think the water was stingy so she only lasted a few mins. She has had nappy off for an hr, I've washed her down with warm water and layered on the sudo again. I'll try get some aloe tomorrow. Her cheeks are Scarlett again so wondering if just maybe she has teeth coming Grin

strawberry that's funny about your job! Hope it all works out for the good. Sorry to hear about W Sad. Fingers crossed for sleep soon

sch great about the weaning and glad to hear you are feeling better Smile

jnice Grin for sleep!!!

Fleecy · 23/03/2012 19:29

fuzzzy have you fried using Metanium instead of Sudocrem? We found it better for really sore bums. And if it still doesn't clear up it could be thrush.

Tried L on her first solids today as she has gone back to wanting milk every 2hrs during the day. She's nearly 25wks so not that early really. But am I the only one not making my own purees? Blush Am using the Hipp Organic jars and Ella's kitchen pouches and plan to supplement with finger food. She had 2 teaspoons of veg puree at lunch and 2 more after dinner. First time she didn't seem keen so I stopped but the second time she finished the lot. So we'll try again tomorrow.

bb3 we went to NYC when DD1 was 2y2m and DS was 7.5mo. DS barely noticed we'd gone and even picked up bfing again when we got back but DD was very clingy on our return and started waking in the night calling for us. Felt ever so guilty Sad but she got over it quickly.

MamaMaiasaura · 23/03/2012 19:37

fuzzy don't put sudocrem on too thick, just thin to allow skin to heal. Sounds like teeth coming. I'd give a dose of calpol. Pampers do disposable change mats which are great for them to lie on. J now tries to eat them so not for us now.

Re weaning, I had broccoli, mash and sausages for tea and J stole the broccoli and grabbed fistfuls of mash and stuffed her hands in her mouth. Very messy Grin. She then sucked and gummed a peeled plum making om nom nom noises.

Samuel has gone to sleep in his own bed for 5 out of 7 nights now. He's led it, am proud and pleased for him tho I miss him He come in bed with me early hours of morning. I can see that getting less and less.

Looking at new car tomoz, bay hall zafira brand new! Excited but don't know alot about them.

scheh glad you are feeling better and got a plan of action

Had first session of baby signing today. Loved it and it's the first and only group I can do just with J. Only runs for 6 weeks tho but it's very good. Already I know signed for mummy, daddy, grandma, grandpa, hungry, milk, dinner, yea, no, danger, hurt, hot, cold, giraffe, penguin, lion, tiger, bus, car, boat, cat, dog, farm, walk, outside, house, cow, sheep, pig, horse, love, cuddle, please, sorry. Grin BLS based too.

FuzzzyDuck · 23/03/2012 19:38

Ah, will look for that too, thanks fleecy. Oh I use the Ella's or plum pouches if I'm out. Saves having to worry about keeping my own veg purée cold/or heating up then cooling etc. at least with them I know she will eat at room temp, and they are handy. Is L 25 wks today..? She and S must have same birthday? I must go back and read stats thread again Blush

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 19:45

Hello everyone! Just a quick visit to say hi. Jnice yay for sleep! Hope it continues. Fuzzy hope S ok, no advice for sore bum, but hope you manage to sort it. Weaning going well here, although L not been interested in milk oddly just in a daytime. he takes his 6pm bottle and his middle of the night bottle, but his 3 bottles he has daytime he only takes between 3-4oz. Does anyone know how much he should be taking at this stage. He has 1oz of frut puree in the morning and 1oz of veg puree in the afternoon. I remember Fuzzy you said S takes 7oz with each bottle as well as solids, so am a bit worried now. He loves his solids and cried when he finished his pear puree this morning so I tried to give him some milk as he only took 3oz when he woke up and he refused Confused. I think now he only has about 20-23oz a day?! Is this enough? Should I give more solids if he is willing to take more?

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 19:47

mama we do baby signing too, have just signed up for another 12 classes L loves it, although can sign as yet :)!!
Scheh glad you and C doing well :)

FuzzzyDuck · 23/03/2012 19:53

bub sounds like its going well Smile. S is still taking most of her milk. I make 7oz and 90% of the time she drinks the lot, but sometimes she does leave a bit. Are you maybe givin milk to soon after food? Maybe still full from food so not hungry enough for milk? We are roughly now;
7.30/8am - 7oz milk
8.30/9am - 2 scoops of cereal with 2oz milk followed by an ice cube tub of fruit
11.30/12pm - 7oz milk
2ish - 'lunch' toast, grated cheese etc or a veg tub followed by with fruit or yogurt
3.30/4pm 7oz milk
5/5.30pm - dinner and fruit
7pm - 7oz milk

So that's aprox 28oz (or 30oz including breakfast) in a day.

MamaMaiasaura · 23/03/2012 19:55

Bubelle Smile it's great, I'll be signing up again I think. She can't sign but I was showing my older boys signs and dh.

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 20:08

Fuzzy my timings are exactly the same as yours apart from the fact that L still doesn't have that 3rd bit of solids at 5.. This milk issue has only been happening since last Saturday not sure if it has anything to do with teething?!

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 20:12

Mama which classes do you do? We do TinyTalk.. I only do milk sign with L and sometimes mummy and daddy, our teacher says to concentrate on one or two signs to start of and then increase when they start signing...

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 20:15

Fuzzy are you going to move to follow on milk when S reaches 6 months or are you already on?

strawberrypenguin · 23/03/2012 20:17

scheh he had an op to unblock the ureter from his kidney last week, with a bit of luck the drain can come out on Monday

fuzzzy poor S, hope she feels better soon

mama signing sounds great :) I might have to look into it

fleecy I'm using Hipp jars as well at the moment as W has only just started on solids and I'm trying to get a rough idea of what he likes. He likes sucking a toast crust though

FuzzzyDuck · 23/03/2012 20:21

bub I'm not sure what to do about the milk. She is still on first stage, but I like that the follow on has added iron. I'll need to compare and see. What are you thinkin of doing?

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 20:24

Fuzzy I've only just realised he needs to go on follow on milk as Aptamil have sent me a leaflet Blush! I need to look into it but it says that follow on is taylored to complement the weaning diet..

FuzzzyDuck · 23/03/2012 20:27

I don't think you need to move onto follow on milk, but I know a friend did simply as it was cheaper and she was able to claim the boots advantage points on it Grin

Jnice · 23/03/2012 20:29

scheh I missed your post earlier - very glad you and C are doing so well!

Jnice · 23/03/2012 20:32

strawberry hope all goes well for W, I think I missed your news too x

Bubalie · 23/03/2012 20:33

I need to look into it Fuzzy - let me know your findings if you do some research too Grin!
Strawberry hope your baby recovers soon..

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 23/03/2012 20:48

Sorry don't know who said what and on phone so can't scroll back.

Re: sore bums, a little salt in tepid bath twice a day and bepanthen worked when C's was really bad.

Re: milk you don't need to move to follow on milk it's just that that's the only type that they're allowed to advertise in this country ao they tend to push it a bit. When I moved C to follow on milk he was v v constipated so HV said its not really that different from stage 1 milk. As long as diet is v rich in iron especially if BFed

I've just started M on baby rice last night just doing a couple of spoons at dinnertime ATM till she gets the hang of it, most of it just comes back out her mouth just now. She poked herself in the eye tonight with spoon SadGrin
Went a really good walk today with kids in new buggy was great to walk at a decent pace! sassy u must indeed have biceps of steel, I got a v lightweight buggy but with both kids in its still pretty heavy, can't imagine how heavy yours must be!

Scheherezade · 23/03/2012 21:01

bub my Annabel karmel book says a 6month baby should be having 18-21oz breastmilk at this age, or 16oz formula. Though that's a baby on second stage weaning, having protein and carbs. First stage it just says 20oz milk a day :) I add ebm to C's purees so you could try that to boost intake?

fleecy I'm not using jars because steaming veg is so much cheaper!

Hope he's feeling better soon strawberry :(

sassy sorry I forgot to reply, but a meet up outing at Traff C would be lovely :) Cheshire was up for it too, so one I'm set loose out it'd be nice to say hi and see the babes :)

My weaning group person said follow on milk is a con, just make sure kids are getting a good diet with meat & fish :)
