xpost BB.

NY marathon?! Wow! fx.

BB3 · 22/04/2012 09:09

I know I should hear anywhen after next week if I don't get it I'll try a charity route but don't really want to have the added pressure of having to raise 2k on top of training as well! I'll raise money for the hospice where my grandmother was cared for but there won't be a minimum amount attached to it for me!

I should be training for the triathlon today but I can't walk upstairs without getting out of breath and coughing like a fag hag so training can start again next week!

FuzzzyDuck · 22/04/2012 09:32

bb3 that sounds wonderful! Fingers crossed for you! Sad you having kids all day when not feeling great. My dad just came and took S so I'm having a few hours on the couch then I'll go get her. Had to laugh at my dad trying to fit the car seat into his car Grin. S was laughing at him as he tried to work out the seat belt!! Finally gave in watching from the window and went to give him a hand haha.
engel it's a lovely morning here, have you good weather where you are for your run? You sound very dedicated Smile have fun!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2012 09:59

Well I just had a go this morning with Jessica in pram. Dug out old sketcher running trainers and 2x Royce nursing bras. Felt good to get out and was out 25 mins as route was a bit further. Coughing away now, cold air on chest I guess. I have inhalers but not used them often, forgot that I needed them more when I was running regularly. I feel old, 37 in July.

jnice my eldest is 12 and going through the hormonal teenage stuff. He is, absolutely brilliant with ds2 and J. Ds2 is just getti g more interested in J.

She's 6 months old today Grin

BB3 · 22/04/2012 10:00

MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2012 10:18

mama happy 6 months to J

BB3 NY marathon sounds amazing. I love NY we had our honeymoon there, def want to take W once he's old enough to appreciate it

Scheherezade · 22/04/2012 11:26

That's still not really s good excuse for making him sleep with me. It's like saying that sometimes babies get sick so I should be feeding him raw chicken and gone off meat.

I do all of his care in hospital so I'm well used to settling him. It's not like having a nanny or being in a nursery. I'm there for my own mental health to be monitored and medication altered etc. I'm well enough to care for him so I don't have help with the baby. If anything I have more help with C at home, as DP is there evenings and weekends. ATM he's only able to visit 30 mins to one hour a day, so that's the only time I'm able to have a break. Have been given overnight weekend leave so have come to stay with MIL for a chance to rest.

sassy34264 · 22/04/2012 11:58

i second the plank as the best for core muscles (and side planks) but dont forget your core includes your back too. most people just assume its your stomach. a good one for your back is to lie on the floor face down- or a gym ball- put your hands behind your head and lift your torso up. dont strain back though. you should know if you have a good core if you can lie flat on your back and sit up unaided. i could.........im like a beached whale now! :)

i managed to build myself up to 13 miles before babies. Sad its going to take a while!!!! ive got about 4 stones to loose. im a qualified gym instructor with a level 3 in nutrition- not sure what my excuse is?????

mamma happy 6 months to j. i'll be 38 in october. i think i'll aim for a marathon when im 40!

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2012 13:43

Saw plank and side planks. Found it hard just holding for 15 seconds. I used to have great muscle tone but haven't ever regained it since cs with ds1 Blush. That was 12 years ago. Sassy, I'd like to aim for marathon when I'm 40 or something like that (thinking if knees shot, maybe massive bike ride).

saasy you can be our groups personal trainer Wink

sassy34264 · 22/04/2012 13:59

mamma i did a massive bike ride a few years ago. my fellow training partner rang me at work on a friday and said do you fancy doing a bike sportive on sunday. said yeah ok -dumb and dumber. it was horrendous. it had 4 massive hills in it. we made it 3/4 up the 1st, half up the 2nd and about 1/4 up the third. we both got off at the bottom of the 4th and didnt even try to pedal up. it took us 7 hours and 20 mins, ive never been as cold,. wet and knackered in my life. we came last! but some people didnt even make it. jo said to me i didnt think it would be this hard when i booked it. me- did the title not give it away?
it was called 'the struggle' !
we did have a laugh though moaning and groaning most of the way round and at the end there was food put on for us,. but becsuse we were the last (only by 15 mins i might add) they bagged it all up for us so we could take it home. hehehe.

i cant do planks at all yet. trying to hold this bulk upright is just too much effort, and i could only do it for about 1 min when i could do it,so 15 secs for the 1 st time is actually quite good. Smile

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2012 14:18

Eek at "the struggle" bet you were glad you had mate with you tho. Some of my friends to runs called "grim" looks very muddy (I'm a bit mad as it looks fun to me). . I need to lose 2 stone, I'm just over 11 at mo and 5'4". Thanks for fb add btw :)

MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2012 14:19

And 7hours 20min! You must have been knackered. I'd have been literally crying I think.

sassy34264 · 22/04/2012 14:57

i think i was too tired to cry, or i had sweated out all moisture!
glad my friend was with me? i was only in the situation cos of her! Grin
do you mean the grim up north runs? i fancy it too. Smile

ive done the great north swim though. (i used to be a swimmer in my youth.) i was having a ball, doing all sorts of races- triathlons, aquathlons, bike sportives- i was training 6 days a week, but then decided it was time to have babies before it was too late!

Scheh just wanted to say that I don't think any of us can imagine what it's like for you being in the MBU and not being in control of stuff like where LO sleeps.

Goodness knows, I was discussing moving Lincoln to his own room to help my sleep now I'm back at work and MIL suggested I wait until FIL has visited (so he can have nice bed in Lincoln's room) I nearly blew my top at the thought of putting a visitor before what's best for us and my sanity - fortunately DP in full support of me.

When I'm down (and sleep deprived) I find myself feeling on the outside of everything and like everyone's getting at me. I think people have just been trying to help.

Hope you get some rest at MIL's

Mama happy 6 months to J

All you people discussing marathons and triathlons, big ups to you. I'm pleased with my 40 min round trip cycle to work and back 3 days a week. Also I've got a Ridgeback Hybrid (with road tyres) which I love - very nifty for the roads, cost a lot but then I get a lot of use out of it on the commute.

Had a better night last night with 3 feeds, decided (well DP suggested) middle of the night nappy change as he's very wet to make him more comfy and it worked a treat. Tried formula for first time yesterday and he wasn't impressed (although fine with EBM) also he came out in angry hives round his mouth (where there had been a bit of FM) anyone else come across this? Seeing HV tomorrow so will ask about it. Much respect to Formula feeders, it's a real hassle, must be hard work with a Newborn!

Anyway sorry for epic post x

BB3 · 22/04/2012 17:55

Mama 15 seconds is really good for a first go, I can do about a minute at the end of a session but I've had 3 months of training sessions (twice a week) to get me to that point! I wouldn't say at 11 stone you need to lose 2! I avoid scales and go by clothes size, I have one more to lose and it's a bugger to shift Wink

Elgolden your cycle is pretty impressive!!

strawberrypenguin · 22/04/2012 18:03

el no experience of the rash I'm afraid. Which formula are you using? Not sure if a different one will help the rash or not but SMA tastes horrible so if your using that a different tasting one might help with him taking to it.
W has always been ff and I think the same about all you bf mums, not sure how you do it Smile

CheshireDing · 22/04/2012 19:51

God I swear how does the dog know he can bark at the cat because DH has popped to the shop and I am upstairs feeding P?! He never bothers with him normally.

Came back in the house this morning to find DH pooping his pants and P crying because she had rolled off her gym, across the lounge and knocked a very heavy tall wooden statue over. He said she was lying parallel to where the statue was lying. If it had hit her head it would have probably killed her it's so heavy. Anyway DH suitable told off and frightened.

Does anyone have any thoughts why for the last 3 nights P has woken about an hour after going down absolutely screaming her head off. She was winded before bed :(

Impressed with all the exercise Grin

MrsHende · 22/04/2012 20:36

No advice with the rash El, I reckon the HV or maybe a pharmacist might help.

Poor P and DH Cheshire! How scary - he must have felt sick when he realised what had happened. No idea why she might be crying - sore tummy? Teeth? Can babies have bad dreams? Hope she's ok tonight.

Scheh, I'm glad you're getting home for a break.

sassy34264 · 22/04/2012 21:02

el jacob would get hive looking rash through his eczema when he ate anything with tomatoes in. so it sounds like an allergic reaction. typed it in google and got this-

milk allergy

ive not read it but scanned and it says hives around the mouth.

ed forgot to say, brilliant for starting the couch to 5k. keep us all updated.
im going to knock all the junk food on the head from tomorrow. ive wrote down what ive eaten for the last 3 days and its hideous!!!!!

Someone mentioned that it's hard to keep track of how old all the babies are...Pene maybe?

I found the stats thread and copied it into a doc on our FB page so please add to it if you wish :).
