cheshire thanks for asking after J, se seems to be improving Smile x

sassy34264 · 21/04/2012 19:32

mamma did you see anyone about the rash?
dp back now with a bandage and dressing on his head and ear. he has to go back tues, but he's supposed to be on a course!

mamma asics trainers are the best for support and doing duration running. i have a bright pink pair that are specifically for outdoor running.
the couch to 5k running programme looks absolutely brilliant from what ive seen. type it into google- i think its the nhs that have come up with it. if you cant find it, i'll link it.

cycling is better if you have bad knees though.

saasy no I didn't see anyone about rash in the end as she wasn't getting worse and figured that it's prob part of infection. Will look up couch to 5k, thanks for tip on trainers. I'll have to get good sports bra, as when I've tries to restart before they've been uncomfortable. I'm going to have a look at bikes too as I really want to reclaim me and be fit again. Also want to be able to just go for bike ride/run rain or shine (prefer rain actually).

Glad your dh home. What will they do on Tuesday? Can he miss course?

J crying Sad beat go

strawberrypenguin · 21/04/2012 20:04

mama good to hear J is improving hope she gets a good sleep tonight once she's settled

sassy a+e always take forever here, I've spent pretty much a whole day in there with DHs best friend when he broke his collar bone playing rugby. It even took over an hour when DH took me in in the middle of the night when I was 6 months preg as I'd trapped a nerve in my back and was in agony.
Has your Dp got an appointment time or was he told to just pop in on Tues? Glad he's home and fixed up at last Smile

All you athletic people put me to shame. I've never really been one for sport though my job is v active. My knees are shot though have been for years Sad

Scheherezade · 21/04/2012 20:57

sassy in hospital he is in a separate room, with a monitor. I have the listening part in my room, exactly the same as at home. So sometimes he stirs in the night which wakes me up but he always (100% of the time) goes back to sleep. Then when he.wakes up in the morning i hear him through the monitor and go get him.

He's spent 2 nights in my room, and both nights he woke up fully in the night after 1-2 hours. It doesnt matter how quiet I.am, even if I'm asleep he's disturbed and cant settle. He can sense my presence or something.

Once the twins are gone he can go back in nursery, its just health and safety they cant have too many cots in one room.

sassy34264 · 21/04/2012 22:28

mamma i have quite big boobs normally (they're the 1st thing to shrink when i lose weight) and i find shock absorber level 4 the best. they are quite expensive but well worth it.
for a bike- if you intend to ride on the roads only, you can get a road bike (like a racer) but if you want to go over fields, tracks etc, you'd need a moutain bike. sorry, if you already know this.

OP posts:
sassy34264 · 21/04/2012 22:37

strawberry and mamma yes he has an appointment tues. im not sure about the course- he got a bit shirty when i tried to talk about it! he's more concerned about his ears, whereas im thinking about how its going to look that he had fri off for his interview and now he will miss this course and he only started the job tues!

scheh what i was getting at, and i think bb3 was trying to say the same, is, what happens when he doesnt 100% of the time go back to sleep? for instance if he is ill. do you feel confident about being able to handle it?
this isnt a question that you need to answer by the way, just pointing it out incase it is something that you may not have thought about.

sassy thanks for tips on bra (I'm a34/6J at moment but really hoping to go down). Looked at a hybrid bike as would want to be able to road and off road, halfords have a carrerra (sp) for 200 at mo, might have to wait a bit tho to get it. However looked at the running shoes you suggested and looks like I could get a pair for 40 and then a decent bra. Even of my knees can't take the running I'll get use out of them as I walk fast. I had a look at the couch to 5k and it looks good. Going to have to work out how I can fit it in with daily stuff. Thinking of doing it with buggy on days ds is at preschool and the other days in the afternoon or evening. I'm quite excited by the prospect of it and that my 12 year old could join me too! Smile

Im snuggled on sofa with J feeding her but I've eaten too much choc tonight Blush. Felt so hungry and only after snacking did I realise I was thirsty. Silly me

sassy34264 · 21/04/2012 22:56

mamma not sure how many times a week you intend to do it, but you make it sound like every day? im under the impression its 3 times a week, you are supposed to do it. i wouldnt think it would be good to do it more than this if you are a beginner.
i should know- i have shin splints cos im STUPID! i ran 4.8 miles om treadmill, in the same week that i did an hour on the bike and a 5k run outdoors. too much, too soon, esp at this weight. im too blinking impatient to get back to the level of fitness i had before pregnancies. and now i have to rest for 2/3 weeks and pray it gets better, cos it is a bugger to get rid of if you're not careful.

i did think of a hybrid bike but i have no knowledge of them.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/04/2012 23:06

sassy Blush oops I thought it said everyday. Week 1 is 5 min brisk walk, 60 secs running, 90 secs walking, 60 secs running, 90 sec walk et. Till 20 min passed. If its only 3x a week that'll be perfect for wen ds2 at preschool and I'll pop Jessica in buggy and push her as I do it. I do tend to over do it too. I'm just impatient Grin.

Ouch at shin splints, poor you. Hope they heal quick for you x

sassy34264 · 21/04/2012 23:17

couchto5k

i presumed it was 3 times a week, cos on week 5 (i think- too tired to look and on phone) it says, this week you will be following 3 different programmes, so it made me think that the other weeks you are following 1 programme, 3 times iyswim?

right bed. im terrible on mn sometimes. i can post for britain at times and then other times you barely hear from me- not sure why!!!!

sassy I looked and you are right. Says important to have rest days between runs else risk injury. Me too re fb, nite nite. Dream feed done, I'll be dreaming of running lol

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 21/04/2012 23:56

sassy I've just downloaded the couch to 5k I plan to start on Monday and I'm quite excited :-)

Mhairi is much better and is back up to 3 meals a day now and seems to be enjoying my cooking so far Grin

Was at WW this morning and put on 1lb so I really need to stick to it now step up a gear I need to lose an inch or 2 to get into my suit for mhairi's christening in 3 weeks.

Penelope1980 · 22/04/2012 00:40

Just reading your running discussion with interest - but based on my experience, I can't nag you all enough about the importance of core work especially so soon after having babies! Can't remember if the couch to 5k talks about this or not, but it is so important to do core strength stuff as well, at least once a week even if it means missing a run. I didn't, and am still nursing an old injury after doing a half without realising I have hypermobile joints. At the time I was so focussed on running I didn't worry about core work, to my peril.

ed how is WW going? I was thinking of joining - I think I have lost all my baby weight now, but still have 9lb to go, so that's probably my chocolate, pies and liberal eating for 2 weight.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 22/04/2012 00:57

penelope I didn't have any baby weight I was actually lighter just after having M than before I fell pregnant then managed to eat nearly 2stone over Xmas and new year Shock and have been trying to shift it since.
I was really focused my first 2 weeks and lost 5lbs then I've been struggling to stick to it since.
If you have the drive and motivation to stick to it, it really works, I just seem to be on self destruct ATM and have been sneaking C's Easter eggs Blush

Jnice · 22/04/2012 04:04

I'm getting so far behind here! Can't keep up on the iPhone.

I did the nhs c25k program - it was really good. I used to run a bit and did a sprint triathlon just a few months before getting pregnant with L. I have had lots of foot injuries and being pregnant just made that a whole lot worse. The program was great for a gentle build up to avoid injury.

Good tips on core muscles - mine are a mess. I still have 4 finger diastasis and have been told never to let my tummy bulge out. Well just about every action involving lifting a baby does.

Jnice · 22/04/2012 04:06

Ed I've put in weight with WW too Sad I am finding myself bingeing on crap when I'm tired or down. I feel really yucky about it.

I need to stock up on easy, healthy snacks.

Penelope1980 · 22/04/2012 06:38

I did WW when I was in my early 20s and lost 2 1/2 stone, but am not sure i have it in me to go back to the dieting headspace again! If the extra weight doesn't look to shift in the next couple of months though I think I will consider it again ...

MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2012 07:02

Never heard of core muscles, will look it up. I've not ever some WW, for me dieting makes me want to eat more.y rebellious nature of wanting to stretch the rules Grin. When ds1 was small, about 9 years ago, I did cut down all the fat I ate, I could only eat food with certain level of fat in and I lost 2 stone. I'd gained alot as had been on antidepressants and antipsychotics.

Shattered here as ds2 coughed most of night and J up every few hours too.

FuzzzyDuck · 22/04/2012 07:42

Morning Smile

Just caught up with all the chat. I was in bed by 10pm last night, wild one me Grin! S down by 7.30 last night and still asleep. I'm feeling like shit. Sore throat, loaded with cold etc. S has had a cough for a few days but im just hoping she hasn't got my bugs Confused. I just poped in to check on her and she was out for the count. A snugly day for us Smile

I done the couch to 5k a few years back and enjoyed it. I want to get my fitness back now, have been putting it off for months. I'm not renewing my gym membership in the summer so really want to get the most out of it. Back to body pump and combat. Running is something I can do outside anyway. There is a great place not far from me that is popular with runners as a full circuit round is just under 5k. I would say invest in proper running shoes. I wore my old gym trainers when I first started and ended up with plantar fasciitis in my foot. Absolute agony and ended up having to have steroids injected in my foot. Was due to have another round of it but I'd found out I was preg but thankfully it's not bothered me since then. Slow and steady to build it up Smile. Oh and I usually wear two running bras Blush. I'm a 34J so need it Wink

Jnice · 22/04/2012 08:10

Get well soon fuzzy. I wear two bras running too, but not because of my size as much as general sagginess! Not a good feeling.

Mama - your oldest is around same age as mine then (9). How is he with J? Isaac is pretty good with Leo but freaks out when he cries (he worries!). DS2 is turning 5 on Wednesday and having his party tomorrow. I have left DH up finishing the pirate ship cake off. Gone midnight so must sleep now.

FuzzzyDuck · 22/04/2012 08:11

Oh it's the London marathon today! Would have loved to do it this year as its Olympic year but S was my excuse for that GrinWink. Def want to before I'm 30.. I have 3 years to train to run what is it, 26 miles..? Blush

BB3 · 22/04/2012 08:22

Morning morning

I second core exercise - basically anything around your middle from under your boobs to your hips - front, back and side. The plank is a good core exercise to start with. My trainer helped me get my core strength back first before even thinking about fitness /weight. I'm one of those people that needs a goal to motivate myself to do something so I've got a sprint triathlon in august. I've just bought a road bike and it takes some getting used to! Those with suspension would be much more comfy! I've also signed up for the new York marathon but have to wait until next month to find out if I've been lucky enough to be pulled out in the ballot selection (unlikely but hey got to give it a go!)

Sassy you sound like me and dh - I'm always saying things about work (x will look bad etc) and he always gets annoyed with me for nagging him about it but he's too laid back about things like that IMO - he thinks I care too much!

Scheh - I was saying that too, for the most part the girls sleep really well (albeit with us half way through the night) but neither are bfing anymore and Edie won't take a dummy, she's got a stinking cold and was a horror last night and the night before. I've tried lots to settle her and the only thing that works was singing sassy esq made up songs with my lips against her cheek, Shame it took me until 4.30 this morning to work that one out!!! Blush I'm sure you'll be more comfortable at home though. Do you feel ready for it?

Fuzz, snap with the cold and cough and really tight chest. That and no sleep means I'm very grumpy but I did do the 6 loads of ironing at 5am this morning and yesterday morning sorting out the junk drawers in my bedroom so at least I'm being productive! dh is working this weekend and all I want to do is sleep - unfortunately my three children have other ideas! I've already decided I'm taking tomorrow off if work there is no way (even if I feel better) that I can face leaving the house at 6.30 to get to London.

What's everyone up to this sunny Sunday? I'm going to be productive and get the kids some holiday clothes and last few bits for that - 3.5 weeks to go! Yay!!

BB3 · 22/04/2012 08:27

Fuzz I'm 30 this November hence entering sporting events, I really want to do the marathon as it's a week or two before my birthday so hoping to have my 30th out there doing all my favourite things - breakfast in the west village, pottering around the meat packing district then dinner and cocktails in central manhattan - if it all works out to plan we'll fly over there stay for 7-10 days then sail back - fingers crossed!!!

Engelsmeisje · 22/04/2012 08:34

I did a c to 5k style programme a few years ago which is what got me into running.

Second asics trainers for distance and road running...so comfy...and shock absorber sports bras. When I started running again in Jan and was still bf I had to wear 2 sports bras, but back down to one now.

Good point about core pen. I really need to add something into my weekly routine. At the moment I'm doing 3 runs a week, probably about 20km a week on average and my shins are starting to niggle too sassy. Am thinking of finally repairing my bike (has been gathering dust in the garage since before I was pregnant) or maybe heading to the pool to take the strain off my legs a bit. Has anyone every done aqua-aerobics before? Any good?

Don't want to over stretch myself before my 10k race in just under a month's time. My mum and dad will be over and I'm running with a colleague so lots of support along the route (and super embarrassing if I have to drop out!).

London marathon next year then fuzzzy?! Grin I am thinking about signing up for a haklf marathon this autumn. there's one in Amsterdam in September, or something more local in October/November. Seems a shame to waste all this training Smile

M woke up again last night. I just put the lullaby music on through the monitor and he went back to sleep

Now that I've stopped bf-ing I have no excuse to eat quite so much. DH and I both trying to be good, but we're both so greedy! I have a stubborn few kilos around my middle.

Have been fishing pretty dresses out of my wardrobe this week though. All the stuff that's impractical for bf-ing that I can (waistline permitting) wear again Smile

Off out for a run shortly. Have a good day everyone.
