strawberrypenguin · 13/04/2012 21:06

scheh good to see you back, great news on the sleep front :)

MrsHende · 13/04/2012 22:07

Loving the photos on FB!

Good to hear from you Scheh.

Jnice, keep up the hard work, I'm sure it will do the trick.

Anyone got nice plans for the weekend?

elgoldenflower · 13/04/2012 22:24

Hi scheh good to hear from you, glad routine's going well

jnice hope L gets decent naps in today and so has a better night.

Think we're on the 6 month growth spurt as Lincoln has woken for feeds every 2 hrs for last 2 nights. so I'm knackered and no good at keeping up with the thread. Hoping for more sleep tonight but must go to bed now while the going's good.

Wishing you all good sleep x

elgoldenflower · 13/04/2012 22:26

X posted mrsH I'm determined to have a few hours to myself whilst DP takes over. Going to cycle to the pool, have a swim then steam and jacuzzi. I've typed it now so I must make it happen! Hmm

MrsHende · 14/04/2012 11:34

Sounds great El, enjoy!

I'm hoping to do a spot of shopping, the sun is shining and DH gave me a Frasers voucher for our anniversary this week.

MamaMaiasaura · 14/04/2012 12:08

Hi all. Jessica cut first tooth yesterday, aaa very excited even tho 3rd dc Grin

Re sleeping, we are pretty much cosleeping now which suits us all fine. I'm a bit of a hippy at heart and if I followed any of the "parenting styles" it would be attachment parenting. lazy parenting J goes to bed at about 7 and feeds/sleeps while I cuddle ds2 and sing his song and he falls asleep on one arm and J on the other. It's bliss. Then I pop J in her cot and leave ds2 and J. J semi- wakes around 10.30/11 for feed and back in cot till she wakes around 1-2am. She nurses and we both fall asleep in bed till 5/6 for next feed and then up around 7.30 for breakfast. Saw dr ad she has upper chest infection but viral so not much they can do.

Been sorting clothes today as she's out of most 3-6 months stuff now, growing so fast.

Jnice · 14/04/2012 13:53

Mama that sounds like bliss!

This weekend I plan on staying close to home, hoping to get to my allotment with the boys and dig in the compost.

LittlePebble · 14/04/2012 15:42

I lost you all! Been so busy with the shop I lost the thread :(

However it is now open :)!

Mama that sounds lovely but you must have a superking bed to fit you all in lol! Well done J for first tooth.

Jnice how is the PUPD going today with his naps?

Scheh good to hear from you - are you ok now - saw your post on FB about healthcare professionals - hope it wasn't anything bad? Sounds like C is into a really good routine now well done.

Elgolden hope you had a better nights sleep last night and L didn't keep you up too much? Your plans for today sound lovely I hope you achieve them!

MrsH Happy Anniversary Smile

Strawberry the frog looks brilliant - will try to get one for E.

Ed Shock at your MIL from the photos you always dress her beautifully!

E just had a 2 hour nap! So shocked I wish he'd told me he was going to do that I could have got lots more done - instead I kept running up to check he was ok!

FuzzzyDuck · 14/04/2012 18:31

Just a quick pop in...

Random question but how is everyone's hair at (or almost) 6 months post baby? My hair before and while preg was so full and healthy. Loads fell out after and now I have all this regrowth around hair line! Whilst I know this is a good sign, it's horrible!! It's actually depressing me how bad condition it's in Sad. Even now after I wash it, still feels greasy and has no life about it. Curious to know if anyone else is the same? I just want my hair back!!

Jnice · 14/04/2012 19:19

pebble I hate it when that happens! Pupd was hard today. 1 hr of crying. I think I should not have jumped straight from swaddle to sleeping bag but when doing pupd the blanket gets all saggy and I have to keep red waddling. Not sure how to continue (with or without swaddle).

fuzzy my hair is still in the falling out phase but I remember what you describe from last time. I ended up with a pixie crop! Don't want to go so drastic this time as my hair has only just grown back to a bob! Layers might help?

Penelope1980 · 14/04/2012 23:35

my hair is back to normal after having crazy hair while pregnant!

Penelope1980 · 14/04/2012 23:38

We are struggling with giving A formula at present, in prep for me going back to work in 3 weeks (eeeek!) He's not taking to it so far, hopefully today it works. Does anyone have any tips?

sassy34264 · 14/04/2012 23:48

it might be best for you not to give it him pen or even be in the same room. also, i really struggled with isobel until i put her on the floor and give it her that way, because, if she was in my arms, she would expect breast milk and scream blue murder at the bottle going in.

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 15/04/2012 07:36

Does he take expressed milk? We have had a small amount of luck with the NUK bottle and doidy cup but DH has to give it.

Engelsmeisje · 15/04/2012 08:00

Mine is still falling out a bit fuzzy but no more than it was before I got pregnant! Got it cut last week for only the 2nd time since M was born. Had a good inch off the bottom as it had become really dry and split. hairdressers sent me off promising I would use a mask once a week on my hair.

I second what sassy said pen. When M first had bottles he wouldn't focus if he could see me.

LittlePebble · 15/04/2012 08:06

Pen someone told me if you sit the baby on your lap but facing outward and hold the bottle in front of them it can work as its such a different position to bf.

Not sure what's going on with E he seems to only want milk rather than food (and lots of it) and is waking every few hours. Feel like we've taken a huge step backwards Sad

Jnice · 15/04/2012 09:38

pebble growth spurt?

I have caught a cold and feel like crap. DH is off doing a race tomorrow so left with 3 DS all by myself (cue violins). I am going to put pupd/sleep training on hold until I am well and have some support for the other DS. It's gone pretty badly since I couldn't stay home to make sure I was consistent with all naps.

L is up for second time at 1.30am, barely fed and now asleep on me. Maybe he is sick too.

TallyBear · 15/04/2012 21:52

Good news Sche

El I hope you managed your swim/steam/jacuzzi. Sounds heaven.

Fuzzzy my hair is still coming out loads, although looks the same.

Jnice good luck tomorrow.

Seb had his first taste of proper food yesterday (24/2 wks). We mashed up a bit of banana for him and he seemed to love it. He kept grabbing the spoon and shoving it in his mouth. Today was the expected black bits in his poo (which, incidentally, decided to leak out down his trousers all over the (cream) carpet when he was in his door bouncer!) Luckily the carpet is quite resilient.

I've started to puree any left over veggies from our dinner with a bit of formula and freeze. That mini food processor I bought about 6 years ago is finally becoming useful! I'm back to work in a week and dh is taking over for 13 weeks so he will get the joys (and mess) of weaning! I think he's a bit daunted! I've got the C&G weaning guide, Annabel Karmel's book and am awaiting the BLW book. Anything else worth getting?

Hope everyone else is well....

elgoldenflower · 15/04/2012 22:28

Hi all,

My cycle/swim/steam/jacuzzi was delayed by a day but worth the wait, feel like a new woman.

Pen we give L bottles (BM) but he is massively distractible and comes on and off it, but with persistence takes it. Also helps if I'm not in the room and the TV is off and no-one talks.

Fuzzy my hair is coming out steadily but still seems ok-ish. I mostly just wash it and leave it though as blow drying seems very low on the priority list so I think it is a mess and seems quite lanky.

Jnice really hope your day is going ok with 3 DS and L plays ball with naps for you.

Tally I've got the BLW and the Annabel Karmel books, found both really useful and v different. We have our own version of what feels right for us which is a combo of BLW and Puree, I do find 'technique' books can be quite prescriptive so I take them all with a pinch of salt or I feel my anxiety levels rising.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 15/04/2012 23:20

fuzzy my hair is still falling out in quite large clumps but I am getting the really bad greasiness, I use a citrus shampoo and conditioner for greasy hair and I always rinse v thoroughly and blow dry but the past couple of weeks it's been greasy by the time I've finished blow drying Angry

Penelope1980 · 16/04/2012 00:42

Thanks for the bottle advice! I went out last night for a few hours (to Titanic Blush , great trip down memory lane to 1997 me and fun to see it again, but didn't remember the script being so bad, and Leo isn't as much of a heart throb as when I saw it the first time!) and he took the bottle while I was out, which was good! Today the challenge is giving it myself ... we shall see!

CheshireDing · 16/04/2012 07:57

Sorry way behind as have had a few terrible nights so not been able to post as absolutely knackered/hacked off etc. Bit of a novelty for the minute though as can type with 2 hands as P still asleep at 7.45am!! (sent DH to do dog walk today) :)

Been trying pupd but that doesn't really seem possible when she wants feeding - headbutting and sucking my face so def still hungry. So at the moment just trying to extend her overnight. Keep us informed when you start pupd again Jnce it's bloody hard.

Is it an actual "shop" Pebble or website? Very nosey, like to know how new businesses are going.

Ed as I know you dress M beautifully (whatever MiL says) have you had a look at Zulily. They do offers on different days so different brands show at different times but there clothes are a bit different I think. You have to sign up but it only sends a junk email to me saying what offers are on which obviously I can ignore.

Pene P will not take a bottle but she is REALLY keen on the sippy cup type thing I bought her. she keeps putting her arms out for it. It's a little cup with 2 handles, she sort of gets how to use it when the lid is on (with a hard plastic teat thing) but we have better luck when the lid is off. DH fed her from it the other day whilst I was out. I need to find something with a tiny lid hole for her to suck out of (bit like a Starbucks take away type lid) so less of it goes down her front. Just thought I would mention it as might be worth a try.

Jnce I have cooked a couple of things from the BLW website for P. She has had banana bread and this morning is going to try cheese, broccoli, yoghurt muffins for breakfast. They smell a bit rank though because I only had strawberry yoghurt not plain but I reckon she won't care.

P awake now, apologies for not responding to others posts. Going to try and "shush" her back to sleep. Poor child Grin

CheshireDing · 16/04/2012 07:57

pene Leo was never a heartthrob Grin yuck!

LittlePebble · 16/04/2012 08:13
