Fuzzy I love Asda's girl clothes, pretty, colourful and wash/wear well. I went in Sainsbury's last week and got some gorgeous dresses for DD. (Can you tell I do the cheap end of the market :) ) For slightly more upmarket, H&M is good if kids are average to slimmer fitting. I bought Seth some tops and he looks like he's been poured into them. Their clothes are great for DD though, and they have lots of Hello Kitty stuff.

cheshire 20 minutes babbling in the cot sounds great. Seth wakes at 4am and grizzles, he's obviously hungry. At 7:30 he babbles, he's slept enough. He doesn't get hungry till 8:30.

Baby rice eurgh! I've been reading horrible things about it on Analytical Armadillo. I didn't like it anyway. I think DD had it twice and I decided it was too much faff and looked bland. I couldn't see the point of giving her something so tasteless. We used to give DD baby cereal, or weetabix.

Mama DH and I have only shared a bed since DD needed her own room. He's a terrible sleeper. Whenever DD goes to her Grandma's he sleeps in her room so we can both get some decent sleep. If we had a bigger house we'd still sleep separately. We get on so much better when we're all well rested.

FuzzzyDuck · 27/03/2012 09:14

Thanks ladies! Yes mrsh S got giving so much! I've not really had to buy anything apart from vests and some sleep suits. It's a bit annoying though as a lot of her stuff is age appropriate (from her age just now/d.o.b) and all her spring/summer things are 6-9months but still huge on her. She is still just in 3-6 so need a few bits for just now. I'll give everywhere a look. I also go for cheaper end of the market but I'm a sucker for something cute even if it's a tad more expensive will have a good look around, thanks Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 27/03/2012 09:15

fuzzy pumpkin patch do some pretty things and have sale on. They are online only now. Next and m&s good too. John Lewis are pricey, my mum bought J dress, soft shoes, booties and nappy pants and was over £50! Far too much IMO as only last short time. I'll post a couple of pics with pumpkin patch dresses on fb

bilblio · 27/03/2012 09:23

Oh and congrats to MrsSassy Moet & pizza is my type of celebration. My special Mother's Day tea was homemade pizza's... I lived in Ormskirk for 9 years so maybe that explains it. :)

MrsH I'm still waiting to buy DD clothes, she's 4. MIL has 2 sons, DD is the first girl she's been able to buy for, so she gets a new outfit almost every week. They're lovely, John Lewis & Marks things, but DD wears a school uniform most of the time, so she's got drawers of clothes that she has barely worn.... and she's currently picking up winter clothes in the sales.... for this year, so with this weather she'll never wear them. I keep telling MIL she doesn't need any more, but she says it's her "Grandma Duty". I only get to buy boring things like knickers, vests & socks. I do occasionally buy her things but it feels like a waste of money when she has so much already. [rant over] I shouldn't rant... if MIL didn't buy them I'd only be complaining about the price of children's clothes. I just hope she treats Seth and her other grandson the same. My Grandma tried to spoil me and I hated that she so obviously favoured me over my brother. [rant really over] :o

Off to Sainsbury's today to get DD some boring summer school dresses.

Penelope1980 · 27/03/2012 10:26

On the clothes topic, can anyone recommend a good online store to get a winter coat for A, I am hoping for something heavier and duffel-like (if that makes sense). I will probably have to get one online from the UK as all the shops in NZ for that sort of thing seem to be crap.

CheshireDing · 27/03/2012 11:12

FD the spag bol was just dumped on her tray, with I reckon about 6 strands of spaghetti maybe and the mince/tomatoes etc was about a piles-worth which filled the middle of a saucer (if that makes sense). P doesn't seem to mind getting messy and getting her hands stuck in, she did have orange eyebrows afterwards but she seemed to be well into it Grin. Clearly not going to be a veggie!

Pene I have been trying to stretch her overnight feeds out (not being very successful at all though), as I know she can last because she does in the daytime. I do wonder if we are having a 6 month growth spurt too as her sleep between 4-6am is rubbish at the moment. I definitely think having P has strengthened our relationship, it was great anyway but we are both so mad about her. The only thing is we are too knackered and busy to show each other affection more than a cuddle/kiss on the lips half the time (I know I sound about 90) :(

Mama I don't think you can be allergic to quorn though can you? So on that basis I would have thought it's ok, is J going to be veggie? I am but DH is not so P is having meat and fish (double yuck!). I was wondering that for drinks too, I cannot remember is J ebf? Do they need a drink per se whilst they are blw or not until they have pretty much stopped breast milk? I was wondering whether I need to get P some sort of sippy cup type thing.

Ed I like the idea of their time to process all the new things they have learnt? Am going to tell DH that.

FD I have bought a few summer things for P in the sales at Christmas (so are last seasons stuff, but who cares) from Next, M&S and John Lewis. I only buy sale stuff because it will not fit forever but these stores have really nice quality stuff I think, I get some "tops" in John Lewis for £4 each that P wore as dresses and now she is wearing some as "tops" and some will fit in a few months. Also Primark is really good, she has some t-shirts from there for 50p each and everyone compliments her on her £4 Primark cardigan! Grin

Pene I think Mango or H&M might do baby on line stuff??

PenguinArmy · 27/03/2012 11:34

Quorn has egg and milk in I think so just make sure those foods have been tested beforehand

PenguinArmy · 27/03/2012 11:35

Pene mothercare has a sale on still I think of winter stuff is not maybe marks and sparks?

Scheherezade · 27/03/2012 14:09

Sorry there's just so many posts I've had to skim through Blush

Mega congrats to mrsassy excellent news!

Well, I am trying to wean C off the breast during the day and onto solids/formula, and its v v tough going :(

Big question for everyone- do you give milk first, or solids? C wakes for a breastfeed at 6.30am every morning, then I make breakfast at 8-8.30, then I never know what to do with lunch and dinner.

Scheherezade · 27/03/2012 14:14

Oh, and C still sleeping through 7-6.30 with a dreamfeed at 10. Interesting as he was waking every 2 hours at home. I think he needed to be in his own room so we weren't disturbing each other, and if I'd have left him he would've gone back to sleep.

golemmings · 27/03/2012 14:23

Some quorn stuff contains milk; the fillets and sausages do but the chunks and mince don't. I only know because DS isn't good with dairy it soy and I don't eat meat (or dairy and soy atm) so I feel a bit like a fish & honey eating vegan.

Started DS on solids today. 3 dsp of baby rice and some banana mashed in. It all went. He was such a happy boy!

FuzzzyDuck · 27/03/2012 16:25

On phone and head like mush..

I love pumpkin patch clothes as well! Forgot about them. We had a girl in nursery who used to wear their stuff and it was always lovely. Must check them out! Headed to shopping centre as her dads friend gave her a voucher at Christmas and puts her own dad to shame so I just used that. Bought her a few toys from the post Xmas sale and just used the rest today. Gap had things on sale so got from there a dress (which she will also be able to wear as a long top with leggings when bigger) that was only £2.99 and a long sleeve top for winter that was also £2.99. My mum had got her a top in M&S that she already has so I exchanged that for a cute spotty tshirt. Went into next but they had nothing on sale but did get her a red/white stripy dress that again she can wear as top, a pair of orange jeans (love them!!) and some little tshirts to match then primark for some cheap leggings and a spotty dress can you tell I love spots all that for around £40! Mega impressed Grin

We've been in the garden all afternoon. Took some water in a basin out and S had a splash about Smile

Hope everyone havin a lovely day Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/03/2012 16:44

re little girls clothes I get a lot from next and boots or Zara I prefer Zara or mayoral as they're not as common (I don't mean that in a snobby way just that anytime I'm out and kids have anything on from next I'm guaranteed to see at least one other kid with same clothes on.

I think you'll find it really hard to get a winter coat at this time of year but next is always good for coats especially boys

CheshireDing · 27/03/2012 17:52

Ed does Mayoral have a website, because what I have looked at on line had dresses for £106. Am I looking in the right place??

Engelsmeisje · 27/03/2012 18:36

Hi all, just checking in. Don't have the energy to trawl through and write a proper post right now. Feeling bleurgh. M has been screaming for the past 2 days so much. Think his teeth are giving him problems.

congrats sassy!

scheh am having the same issues as you with feeding. Gradually switching from bf to ff at the mo. Of M's feeds he's down to 3 BF and 2 ff. I've been giving him his veg before his milk feed, but also not sure if I should, or when I should start to give him more solids. (and great news about C's sleep!)

Can't remember who mentioned baby rice but M hates it. Was a waste of money! Am using it up by mixing a bit in with quite wet veg/fruit like pear or courgette.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/03/2012 19:04

cheshire you probably are I only buy very day things from local baby boutiques prices for day dresses in mhairi's size usually range from £20-£40 so maybe it's been special occasion stuff you've been looking at? You'll probably have some local baby shops most stock it.

strawberrypenguin · 27/03/2012 19:37

Hi ladies, just a quick check in from me so apologies if I miss anything

sassy yay for your DH, that's great :)

Yep baby rice is gross and W refuses it, I think it's a big marketing con! Saying that I think my boy has a sweet tooth (not that he has any of those yet) he has only just started weaning but liked apple and wasn't sure of the few veg bits he's had.

MamaMaiasaura · 27/03/2012 19:57

cheshire not veggie but I use quorn for spag Bol as healthier lower fat. Dh made lasagne in the end as I went to peppa pig world with ds2 and J. Am ebf so no need for water but whenever I'm drinking she's reaching to try and she also was trying to drink water from kitchen tap when sat next to it in bumbo. I think she likes the feel and as ds2 is awful at drinking water I
Thought I'd go for it.

Non stop cluster nursing at night last few nights. In her sleep mainly, zzzzz.

Can I have a moan? I'm sunburnt (I know self inflicted), really sore throat, ears and chest too and I feel crapola.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/03/2012 20:45

cheshire here is a link to a mayoral stockist

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/03/2012 20:49

Scrap that here's a better one mayoral

FuzzzyDuck · 27/03/2012 21:02

I hate packing!! Granted only going to London for 5 days but I've no idea what weather will be like so don't want to pack 'warmer' things and it's roasting etc. anyone down south and have an idea of what to expect from the weekend onwards...? Grin

Penelope1980 · 27/03/2012 21:21

scheh I give milk first, but that's what the official advice here is.

Thanks for the clothing links ideas! Pumpkin Patch is a NZ brand actually (I think our only clothing chain to make it overseas!), so the main place to buy baby clothes here although it is a little more expensive it's pretty good quality.

The branding is a bit sexist though - was looking at the Pumpkin Patch website and the names of the baby clothes collections, the boys are "tough guy", "tomorrows heroes" and "flying high". The girls ones are "mademoiselle", "folklore fantasy", "home sweet home" or "autumn princess". Am glad Amotai gets to aspire to be a hero and to fly high, unlike the girls who get to aim to be French fantasy princesses that stay at home

Penelope1980 · 27/03/2012 21:22

FD one thing I have done to make packing easier on my trips to save space is take half a dozen nappies and buy the rest when I am where I am going, saves so much space in bags, and most of the nappies get used before the trip home anyway. Unless we are driving of course, in which case nappies can get wedged in every spare space in the car Grin

sassy34264 · 27/03/2012 21:47

i give food first. Hmm

ed £20-40 for a baby dress!!!!! i must be a scrooge cos i think next are too dear! Smile i usually get tesco clothes for kids but i do like matalan stuff the best. i'll only buy next in the sale!

thanks for all the well wishes.x

penguin how are you and dh now?

mamma we have a zafria (sp?) i really like it but dp- not so much. he had to swap his sporty type mans car for it. this job comes with a company car, so the zafria is ALL mine now!

scheh re- trafford centre. we need to come up with a date then, that suits us (bilblio has said she will come too) and anyone else who wants to come. it is easier for me to come in term time.

bb3 i think sil is good. im not sure what the plan of action is with regards to the left over tumour. she has started smoking again though. Sad silly girl. but then again, ive never had cancer, so what do i know about how it feels and what it makes you do.

eva has 2 bottom teeth coming through. a friend at playgroup pointed them out to me Blush eva has been a bit out of sorts for last few days, but i never thought it was teething........ stupid mummy

I just remembered I LOVE Monsoon too, although I def only buy their baby stuff in the sale. P has a couple of lovely things from there for when she is walking to cover in mud Grin
