you know what im going to say cheshire Grin
if she was hungry she would cry. and 20 mins of amusing herself in her cot is brill. what would your dh do if you had other kids to get ready for school? you'd be glad that she would do that. i leave eva in her cot sometimes while im getting breakfast for chloe and milk for twins. if she cries i bring her downstairs. if she doesnt then she stays put.

penelope Envy at all your holidays.
i usually up the amount of spoonfuls for the one meal before i move on to a 2nd meal. i dont think (or remember if) i have a strategy. im just going off eva and if she seems hungry. sorry if thats not very helpful.

Morning morning

Cheshire sounds like she was just awake and playing, I'd throw the bear in the bin and let her be, if she'd have wanted anything, be it food, cuddles, change it sleep, she would have let you know. If I'm asleep I don't go to the girls unless they're crying and I'd leave them longer but they'd wake each other up! Angry I have to physically hold dh (and myself) back from going in when they're awake and just cooing to each other so they at least get some time alone!

Weaning, we've been doing it a couple of weeks and they have baby cereal for breakfast (I'd say about 10ish spoons each), a small fruit mush (like half a banana) between them for lunch and then another 10ish spoonfuls of whatever dinner I manage to grab out the freezer and defrost first! I started with dinner first then adds breakfast about a week in then just started lunch this weekend and they are loving it

Edie has her first tooth and she's suffering way more than ds ever did. At 1am this morning she was burning up so a bit of Nurofen and an hour later she's a different child. I'm lucky really she's not too teary with it just obviously in a lot of pain! It broke through Saturday and now the tooth is pushing through and oh my I'd forgotten how much teeth hurt when bfing tired, clampy babies (and it's not even fully up yet!!!)

The sunshine has definitely lifted my mood, the girls had their chubby little legs out for the first time in shorts and dresses over the weekend and looked so cute and ds is in his element now he'd able to rum around the garden literally from the water to the sand pit to the trampoline covering everyone and everything with wet sand as he goes!!

BB3 · 26/03/2012 07:48

pene ds used to get very clingy after holidays but it soon goes back to normal and you'll miss them being so mummyfied! Hope you had a brilliant time x

BB3 · 26/03/2012 07:55

Forgot to say on weaning I'm with sassy and just go with the baby, mine tend to spit out/ clamp shut when they've had enough so you'll get to know when they don't really want anymore!

Edith-May aka two chins Grin actually has a giddy fit when it's food time Grin I put her in the chair and she is kicking and laughing staring at the bowl in excitement trying to grab it out your hands and if you wave a bottle of ebm over her she's trying to grab it out your hands and won't let go of it all the time she is feeding! That girl likes her food and let's you know when she wants it but Ayse-Rose never cries for food, even when it's a bit late and she is clearly drinking like there is no tomorrow so was obviously starving, she just sits and waits for it! Bless her little cottons x

But I am Not enjoying the food poos! And it only gets worse x

LittlePebble · 26/03/2012 08:07

Cheshire I'm with Sassy, I only go in to E if he's crying. He's currently murmuring to himself so is happy and awake and I'm staying in bed as long as possible!

Penelope the photo of A in front of the lake looks amazing, what a beautiful place to bring up your boy.

MamaMaiasaura · 26/03/2012 15:23

Been loving sunshine and putting J in pretty dresses.

Re weaning - she's grabbing anything she can off my plate. Mash potato a hit. This blw is good but messy. I'm now giving a little yoghurt on a spoon as I want to balance finger feeding and spoon. Ds2 not so great with cutlery and I think partly down to self feeding and hardly any spoon feeding.

With poos, j gets quite worked up when it's time and I have to brace her legs for her. It's not hard poo. Anyone else have this?

sassy34264 · 26/03/2012 17:41

hooray! dp got the job. drinking moet on a monday is making me feel lush. balancing it out by having homemade pizzas for tea.......
you can take the girl out of wigan, but you cant take wigan out of the girl! Wink

Ah Sassy that's brilliant! Well done MrSassy! Moët on a sunny Monday afternoon sounds lovely Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 26/03/2012 19:23

Yay!!! That's fab sassy GrinGrinGrin

Enjoy!

CheshireDing · 26/03/2012 20:06

Congratulations MrSassy Grin, yum, I love bubbly too.

Thank you ladies about P being awake in her cot, think I will sleep in the nursery tonight so DH abd I don't fall out!

P had spag bol for dinner tonight, totally messy but gosh she loved it. So much so she was leaning forward sucking the tray, and she stole half my crumpet straight off my plate at lunch! No manners Grin

Pene I have been broody for ages but half the time too tired to dtd it wasn't like that this time last year Blush

Jnice · 26/03/2012 20:07

sassy - that's wonderful! Congrats to your dp and enjoy the bubbles Smile

MrsHende · 26/03/2012 20:08

Well done MrSassy! Enjoy the champagne and pizza Smile.

FuzzzyDuck · 26/03/2012 20:24

cheshire how did you serve the spag bol..? I gave S chilli yesterday but she wouldn't touch it with her hands. Think she has a thing about her hands being dirty Hmm so I had to blend it slightly as she couldn't manage the rice. Really enjoyed it though! Did you use spaghetti?

Penelope1980 · 26/03/2012 20:43

thanks for the weaning advice! And impressed cheshire with giving p spag bol. I think DH would love it if I cooked spag bol - for him as much as anything! Also just read your above post (got a bit confused when adding mine) and I have something similar re A waking at night at present, but DH and I disagree about the opposite - I say feed him, he says leave him. We ended up sleeping in seperate rooms a couple of times while on holiday because A was waking every couple of hours and DH prefers not to sleep in the same room as him.

A friend asked me what having babies does to your relationship - don't know about you all but in many ways it's better, as we are a "team", but in ways is worse too as A's needs will always come first now

MamaMaiasaura · 26/03/2012 21:30

cheshire had to Grin at P food antics and stealing. J wailed tonight when I dared put a forkful of my dinner in my mouth. Funny girl.

I want to do spag Bol this week (trying not to think of the mess Wink) but I usually use quorn mince for it. Stupid question but is that ok? (says me who let J try a tiny bot of choc aero mouse Blush)

MamaMaiasaura · 26/03/2012 21:34

Re sleeping arrangements. This is going to sound awful but dh haven't shared a bed properly for over 4 years. Blush We are still close and dtd frequently (pre J and I'm sure will be back to it once i'm we aren't so knackered) dh wants/needs full night sleep and I can easily sort J in night and quickly fall asleep, actually don't really wake fully or sleep deeply either, am just tuned in. But dh snores and breathes very loud and the sleeps very deeply. When hes in the bed, I can't sleep. If I can't sleep I'm a horrible bitch. Therefore sleeping apart works great for us

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 26/03/2012 21:39

sassy congrats to you and your DH on new job at least you dont need to worry about going back to work now Grin

i agree with everyone else if baby is happy to lie in cot and chat its fine to leave them there, i read somewhere its actually good for them as its their time to process all the new things they've learned recently not sure if the last part is true though.

re: babies struggling to poo, my DS was the same and i used to lie him on his changing mat a couple of time a day and circle his legs as though he was ridin a bike and it help get everything moving.

i'm loving the gorgeous weather we've been getting the past few days, i love the fact that M is getting use out of all her frilly socks and looking so cute in sunhats etc i did predict this though! as soon as i bought my convertible i doomed the country to crap summers and now that ive traded it in we'll have great weather humph!

feel like i never get a chance to come on here these days so sorry if i missed anyone. i've been giving M baby rice at dinnertime the past few nights a lot of it still comes back out, should i persevere with baby rice and wait till she can swallow a bit better before moving on to veg etc? never had this problem with DS he was a grubber as a baby and never spilled a drop, don't know what happened to him need to fight to get him to eat anything now.

cant remember who asked but i go through phases of feeling broody and phases of knowing i'm finished. realistically i know we cant afford any more kids nor could we fit them into our house.

MamaMaiasaura · 26/03/2012 22:11

Ed personally I wouldn't bother with the baby rice. J has literally grabbed food off my plate. She first started with toast and sucked it. She's also had steamed brocilli and soft steamed carrots, mash, a bit of chicken pie, plum (I nibbled skin off and she's sucked the plum and chomped). Watermelon chunks, rice cakes. I've given her yoghurt and a little fruit purée to get her used to spoons too. I have basically let her lead it the whole way, when spoon feeding her, i hold spoon close to we lips and she either pops it in her mouth or sucks off food. With the other food, she has at times gagged a little and then either chewed it again and swallowed or spat it out. It's a bit scary as I worry she'll choke but apparently the ethos of blw is that the learn to chew and then swallow which reduces choking risk. She also has a beaker with cooled boiled water to slurp on too.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/03/2012 03:28

Hmm think I'll try her with some steamed carrot sticks in the afternoon tomorrow thanks

BB3 · 27/03/2012 06:23

Ed have you ever personally tried baby rice? There's a reason the spit it out Wink In all seriousness I think it can be good but if it's not working try something different.

Yay sassy - that's brilliant news!

MamaMaiasaura · 27/03/2012 07:42

ed make sure they are fairly big if she's self feeding and very soft so they go mushy when gummed, or purée them down. Whichever you feel happiest.

BB3 · 27/03/2012 07:42

They spit it out not the!

FuzzzyDuck · 27/03/2012 08:14

Morning ladies! Quick question, those with girls, where do you buy their clothes? Off shopping this morning for spring/summer dresses etc for S holidays and I need inspiration for new places to try! I love 'blue zoo' stuff but just had quick look through next book and seem lots of cute things (that aren't to expensive!). Not anything to pricey I grudge now as she is outta them after a few months. Have you seen anything?!

PenguinArmy · 27/03/2012 09:02

There's loads of pretty and non pink dresses etc ATM including cheaper places like Sadat, primary and sainsbury's

Me and ds have had a sickness bug so waiting to see. If dd getss it.

Congrats to the sassy household

MrsHende · 27/03/2012 09:03

Morning Fuzzzy!

I've not really done a lot of shopping for L, we got so many gifts that all I've needed to buy has been vests!

However, the nicest stuff we've been given is from Next, H+M, Marks and Spencer (the Autograph stuff especially) and Jasper Conran from Debenhams. John Lewis has some beautiful things but is a bit too expensive for me!

Have fun shopping! I can't wait till L runs out of clothes and I get to shop for her!
