We've got so good at brooking no argument for no pregnancy complications and sneeze births, we're going for our Phds in big fat babies

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/04/2012 13:23

Well, I've seen her smile once or twice, but I'm not sure if she's smiling because she's happy to see me, or if she's just practising her smiling muscles Confused. She doesn't quite seem to be looking at me when she does it. Maybe it's wind. She frowns at me a lot!

DreamingOfPeace · 19/04/2012 13:55

Just have to add that the other twin mum I met near me has put a picture on fb titled 'smiling' of a baby with eyes shut.. yes doing the smiley mouth, but clearly not a social smile as the baby is a) 2 weeks old and b) asleep. Hmm . Wind!!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/04/2012 15:06

Oh bloody hell. I just had a friendly chat with the dogwalker after she brought the dog back. 10 mins later M wakes up and I pick her up, change her, sit down to feed and realise...my top was already unbuttoned to the waist. Blush Blush Blush I am such an idiot! PIL will be here tomorrow and I must NOT wander around with bra or worse, boob hanging out.

Biscuitsandtea · 19/04/2012 15:24

Grin Too Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/04/2012 15:36

At least my bra cups were done up! Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 19/04/2012 15:58

Something to be grateful for indeed Too Smile

We've just had a nappy change that involved DS immediately doing a great big poo in the first three nappies! It had been over 24 hours since he'd done any sort of decent poo so I was kind of ready for it!

And I'm most proud of the fact that no poo went on the mat, his clothes, me, the floor, the furniture, the walls, the window, the ceiling etc Grin

Small victories Smile

pommedechocolat · 19/04/2012 16:00

I flashed the same courier twice the other week too.Poor man.

We've had some smiles here in response to being smiled at - amazing!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/04/2012 16:07

Do you think a smile that is immediately followed by throwing up (on her clean cardigan and my bra) is likely to have been wind, not a real smile? have been grinning like a loon every time M glances in my direction

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/04/2012 16:07

Grin at flashing the courier, Pomme!

Biscuitsandtea · 19/04/2012 16:15

The sane courier twice eh Pomme HmmWinkGrin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/04/2012 16:15

Three nappies, Biscuits! Personal best?

Biscuitsandtea · 19/04/2012 16:17

Same not sane. Although he may well be sane too?

Too, a smile is a smile Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 19/04/2012 16:19

Well technically it took 4 nappies to get one on that stayed on, because there was an original dirty one and 3 subsequent dirty ones, then the final one that stayed on Confused. And yes that is a personal best Grin

pommedechocolat · 19/04/2012 18:53

Dd1 in bed and dd2 snoring beside me on sofa. Dh away tonight so first solo night has had a good start so far...

Dh still set against a third dc but in our contraceptive dilemma (we have condoms and copper coil as options basically!) has refused to have his bits snipped and has suggested the rhythm method. I feel quite cheered!

He's still insistent I have to go back to work part time at some point in the next few months. I have time to work magic though :)

jaggythistle · 19/04/2012 19:20

we're still on the lovely meconium here, although at the rate DS2 is feeding hopefully my milk will be in fairly quickly. then we can have the joy of poo in the hair etc! 4 nappies biscuits! Shock

don't know why i didn't think of it yesterday but we have had some successful lying down feeding today so my poor fanjo is getting a break. it also seems to be helping DS2 with his aversion to my right boob - bonus!

poor fanjo is super swollen, midwife took one look today and phoned for a prescription for better painkillers. hope it goes down soon cos it's feckin uncomfortable.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 19/04/2012 22:17

Hope the solo night is still going well Pomme!

Jaggy your poor fanjo! I hope that passes very quickly. Your new little man sounds so cute though - esp when you describe him as "squeaking"! Grin

V impressed with Ethan's nappy-filling efforts!!

Can I ask you ladies a quick question please? What did you have in terms of visits in the first three days? As I've mentioned on the other thread I've just found out that my Dad has taken next Wed (my cs date) plus Thurs AND Fri off work. My whole family seem to be expecting to spend loads of time with us while we're in hospital (I've already warned them there's a two week visitor ban once we get home). My Mum is coming round tomorrow and I need to discuss this with her in more detail, so that we're all expecting the same thing next week - I don't want to be having awkward conversations in hospital! I just wondered what you ladies did for the first few days?

DreamingOfPeace · 19/04/2012 22:27

No no no. I had no visitors bar invited ones at visiting time for an hour max. I actually wanted more. But that was for taking the boys away once fed so.I.could have a rest as dh wasn't around so it was me versus the duo day and night otherwise and i was lonely and a bit overwhelmed by two. No one none family except two specific friends who were helpful not a hindrance.

Ladies, I'm struggling majorly with upset, crying refluxy babies, especially Ben. I can't help getting really upset myself that i can't make them instantly comfortable. I'm dreading the true colic phase as i don't see we won't get it with them this refluxy already :-( :-( . Gavisvon, infacol, going to go for it now as conservative hold them up after feeds, wind lots etc not helping. Anyone else
got this problem??

Poor you jaggy, I can honestly say I have had a smoother, faster recovery post CS than vb. I'm taking no painkillers, bending, twisting, pushing a double buggy, lifting my toddler and got signed back on for driving at gp today. Hope the fanjo heals quickly. Your ds2 sounds adorable. Good for him with lots of feeding :-)

DreamingOfPeace · 19/04/2012 22:28

pomme, we used the rhythm method for contraception for four years successfully before starting our family :-)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 19/04/2012 22:38

Wow Dream that sounds like an amazingly fast recovery!

jaggythistle · 19/04/2012 22:38

dream it's been the opposite for me, but my cs was unplanned so i was completely exhausted and not ready and had no idea what to do with a baby!

apart from the swollen bits i feel really good this time. DS2 doesn't seem to have a tongue tie and is v enthusiastic which helps!

my muscles are a bit tired today from the physical effort, i feel much more mobile this time. just sitting down is the issue!

he really is quite squeaky scream! DS1 is going about copying his wee noises and cries and he finds it funny when DS2 sneezes. he's quite sneezy for some reason.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 19/04/2012 22:39

Sorry for not responding to Dream's difficult time with the twins by the way! I've just posted about that on the other thread! Sending lots of hugs your way as you get through this!

DreamingOfPeace · 19/04/2012 22:40

Oh and its my boys due date today, so I'm all healed 15 days on!! Tender of course, but nothing requiring painkillers. Hope that's encouraging scream and your elcs is as good as mine :)

DreamingOfPeace · 19/04/2012 22:44

Oops, x posts. Don't think you can compare a calm, planned elcs to emcs after labour jaggy, not surprised you feel better this time. I had a piles cushion to sit on that i got rather attached to for my fanjo last time.

I'm also less anaemic this time as though my blood loss wad higher than average for CS due to twins so enormous uterus etc my hb is still better than after a third degree tear. So that probably helps me too.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 19/04/2012 22:44

Awwwwwwwwwwww for Jaggy's squeaky baby! That description just makes my heart melt! Esp the thought of your DS1 copying him!!

Yay for a better recovery than last time!

jaggythistle · 19/04/2012 23:13

i just had enough of a break to get ready for bed while DS2 snuggled beside DH, got baby into crib and he settled for at least 10 minutes before wee squeaks turned into big shouts. i hadn't even managed to get to sleep.

he's only had a quick feed so I'll be impressed if he lets me put him back in bed!
