This are the ones I have. Use two but if you wash alt days it can be worth getting three as you use two, then air them out back while you are washing, and use the third one then). The lids aren't "special" but they fit really well esp with the mesh bag fitted.

If your local mothercare is out of stock you could order online for instore delivery or failing that try ebay for a good choice?

Back from shopping: why have my shopping bills gone up when my small person isn't eating anything yet?

figgy as Northern said it's whatever works for you. DD was moved to the cot in her room at 11 weeks old, and DS was moved at 6 weeks old. We have a monitor and all sleep much better than when he was in the Moses basket in our room. Last night he went from 8-5.45 Grin

I appreciate that I spend more time with DS than DH does and that therefore I will know his routine and pick up on his behaviour better, but that doesn't explain why when I left DS with DH earlier and told him that DS would need a sleep in about 20 mins time, that he brought DS to me, tried to hand him back, and said 'he's hungry'! I said 'no, he's tired' and sure enough after a couple of minutes of DH rocking him DS was off to sleep. Why does DH never listen Confused

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 14:23

Having a post-lunch Irish coffee in honour of the day-hope minimopsy doesn't mind having a tipsy mother!!!

aethelfleda · 17/03/2012 16:18

Brew and biscuits for all who want them! Have parked Ds with DH while he watches the rugby: planning to get a big pile of newborn stuff to my lovely cousin who I'm seeing next week and want to dump pass on as much stuff as possible... If I make it into the loft and organise piles of things!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/03/2012 16:54

I've just tried choc philli and OMG its lovely....i could just eat it with a spoon out if the tub...not good!

aethelfleda · 17/03/2012 17:26

Ah, my SIL was waxing lyrical about that the other day: sounds weird but I suppose chocolate cheesecake is pretty lush... Is it low-fat philly and therefore you can eat more of it??

Omg husband just made best cocktail ever-Irish whisky, grenadine, lemon juice and cider. YUM!

seven77 · 17/03/2012 17:51

Hello, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Sorry I've not been here much lately, I'm really struggling at the moment. Eva is doing great but DS's behaviour isn't great, he just doesn't seem to listen to me anymore, and telling him not to do something just seems to make him more determined to do it. We had a major meltdown yesterday because we didn't have any biscuits, and again earlier when I wouldn't put CBeebies on. Of course none of this is helped by the fact that he barely eats anything, unless I give in and just let him eat rubbish, and I mean biscuits and crisps, he doesn't even eat chips! I have to admit I've lost it and shouted a couple of times, I feel like such a rubbish mum. Mothers day tomorrow and I don't deserve anything :(

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 17:55

Oh my god seven, you deserve EXTRA pompoms for coping with hard times. Small children are hard work. You're doing GREAT!!!!!

hawthers · 17/03/2012 17:57

Snap seven the same over here. Don't know if that makes you feel any better.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/03/2012 18:12

Glad you're both doing OK mopsy and DSM.

I know what it's like living with someone with depression, who also (unsurprisingly) looks on the glum side of life. You never know whether they need medication or just being told to pull their socks up, and it's knackering having to be the jolly one all the time, so I know how you feel hawthers. Hope you feel better with all the endorphines (sp? aaargh!) going.

And I agree Oi and MissRee, it is great being a Mum now. DS DP took me out for an ultra cream tea for an early Mother's Day present, which started off with chocolate cake, moved on to sandwiches and then a scone with cream and jam...NYOM!

Seven, you are certainly not a rubbish Mum, we all lose it sometimes and it's a bloody tough gig- and as I say, wrangling two or more deserves a medal, not (self) criticism.

Am out to an old colleague's 50th- treated myself to a £7 top from a charity shop, as nothing will go over my bf'ing melons but no point spending money on something I'll only wear once!

rice33 · 17/03/2012 18:15

Hi girls Smile

I've been meaning to join ye for ages but always takes so long just to try and catch up on the posts and never get around to posting ,but thought what the hell I'll give it a go .

So dd was due 3/12 but she had other ideas and was born after a fast and furious 4 minutes in the delivery suite on 22/11 .

We have one other dd, Eva , who turned 5 in feb and is still getting her head around this big sister malarkey , but as holly is getting more interactive she is becoming more interested in her.

I'm breastfeeding , never tried first time around so it's been a steep learning curve. However once we got past the first two excruciating weeks it's pretty much been plain sailing. Holly did lose more than 10% of her body weight and was so very very slow to start to gain any weight but I had the worlds most supportive public health nurse who never mentioned the words formula top up but went off to the chemist to buy me fenugreek tablets and had me eating oats morning, noon and night [smile
]
Very jealous of any of ye getting a nights sleep ! We are cosleeping , not planned at all ,but she has never slept for more than 20 mins in the Moses basket and after a few nights of zero sleep for me trying every trick in the book to settle her I gave up and into the bed she came . She loves it ! She sleeps with one hand resting on my boob , just to be sure I don't try to pull a fast one Grin

I'm Irish and live in cork so doubt I'll ever make any of the meet ups but looking forward to getting to know you all .

Hope everyone is having a fab paddy's day ! Dh and Eva are just home from the parade and we may have something suitably festive such as bacon and cabbage for dinner Wink

rice33 · 17/03/2012 18:23

Seven77

I have a child who doesn't even eat chips , I comfort myself that she eats pesto sauce and like to think that because it's green I could possibly class it as a vegetable Wink

Anyway I've recently read "my child won't eat" by Carlos Gonzalez and its been a revelation to me , could not recommend it highly enough . It explains what children really need to eat and why , in a nutshell very very little really . It would be a great book to read before you even started to wean for all the first time moms Grin

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 18:37

hiya rice!! I looove cork, I even went to (boarding) school there for a while even though I'm from the east coast. Live in England now but would so love to move home!

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 18:39

But tbh even if I move home would rather cork than Dublin. Problem of course is jobs ... Not an easy one at the mo ...

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 19:09

Let me just state, for the record, that I cannot hold my drink!!!!

rice33 · 17/03/2012 19:23

We'd love to have you back mopsytop Grin

Which boarding school was that , was it Ashton ??

Yes although I'm biased cork is lovely , for those that don't know it the city centre is on an island surrounded by river and the suburbs are on the hills around it , population about 400,000 or so I think

AnAirOfHope · 17/03/2012 19:25

mopstytop can you put your index finger to your noise and walk along this stright line?

-----------------

Grin

for the record i love cocktails

AnAirOfHope · 17/03/2012 19:28

Welcome Rice Smile

rice33 · 17/03/2012 19:32

Air the last drink I had before I found out I was pregnant was a mojito

My little boob monster refuses all attempts of fooling her with fake nipples so the drought continues Sad

aethelfleda · 17/03/2012 19:36

mopsy are you trying to tell ush you're pished?! Marvellous :)

We're having "pizza night" : pizza, garlic bread and salad in front of the telly (watching Cars) with the DDs. DS is not paying attention to the story, I clearly have a subnormal baby...

seven don't make me get out the haddock-launcher, you are being too hard on yourself. We all know more than one child is extra tricky, and the mum who says it's all roses is either lying, uber-optimistic, or in denial

AnAirOfHope · 17/03/2012 19:43

3 years and 8 months ago i bought 3 bottles of wine for £10 at Asda and a pg test. I chose to do the test first then drink the wine. When i shouted my DH to come look at the posative test he smiled and said "I guess i will be drinking all the wine then" Smile

Then i had two sips of watered down whiskey a few weeks ago.

I miss drinking cocktails, pimms and going to the beer fest but i will not be bf forever.

I feel a little bit mean as i never had any with aaron, but i just wanted to remeber what it tasted like Blush

I tried giving Hope a dummy today and she is not having any of it, so i have give up. There is cno real need to give her a bottle or a dummy so its fine.

AnAirOfHope · 17/03/2012 19:51

Aethlfleda - we are having "pizza night" too Grin. Chesses pizza and then choclate and irish cream chesesscake and we are watching 'tooth fairy 2' with Larry the cable guy init. He is the person that does the voice of Mater in the cars films Grin

The irish cream chessescake is in celebration of st. paddys day but the is no acholch value on the packaging and Aaron is having some so it should be ok Hmm

AnAirOfHope · 17/03/2012 19:56

We are having a film break to change Air's pull up pants and to wipe all the chocolate off his face, hands, legs, tummy and the floor anything within a 5 mile radius Grin
