Hello fellow night shifters! Minimopsy is feeding and farting away merrily. I don't think she's read the rules of etiquette book ...

Not sure what we will do when she grows out of her Moses basket. Our room is v small, the cot would be a squeeze ...

So tired. On feed number 6 and he's just filled his nappy again

AnAirOfHope · 17/03/2012 08:11

Morning everyone.

I coslept with hope last night and she feed 3 times but i didnt get up. So much better. Feel like i have had more sleep. Im trying to feed her more to get her weight up.

YBR · 17/03/2012 08:27

BabyYBR moved out a couple of weeks ago because she'd out-grown the Moses basket and there's not space for the cot in our room. As there's also a single bed in her room one of us slept with her the first few nights, but now we're both back in our room, with a monitor. Provided the volume's set right, it works fine. I suspect we might get paranoid about her again after the op but otherwise I'm relaxed about it.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/03/2012 09:03

Gah- tried a post last night and bloody MN went off line.

Soooo... glad all is well with mini-m mopsy, that sounds like every parent's nightmare. Do you feel OK now?

How're you feeling this morning DSM?

Let us hope the lack of vomit combined with unexpected cash windfalls continues LMF. I had the other experience- you know how it was all over the news that HMRC had overcharged loads of people, and it affected those who had changed their hours/changed jobs? I got so excited, and a brown envelope came through the door....to tell me I owed them £112. My colleague that started at the same time as me owed the same.
Bums Sad

I wonder if your DH has failed to notice the two small children, one of who is on a feeding schedule that takes up all your time hawthers? Or if he's failed to appreciate that when you do get a few minutes of time, the best thing for your physical/mental health is to relax, not leap up and grab a bottle of Pledge... I hope he makes up for it tomorrow.

Bit zombie here too- DS going to bed at 7.30, then gets a feed at 10/11 when I go to bed, and then he wakes 2-something and 5-something, but then wakes and fusses and is ignored by me and goes back to sleep. Have decided I want to go out for a cream tea for my Mother's Day present, and have told DP I'm getting a lie-in too!

With the cot thing, DS has all his naps and the first bit of his overnight sleep in his cot on his own, with a monitor, then we co-sleep. When DP takes over (DS will be 4.5 months), he'll start off sleeping in DS's room, and will move out when he's ready and DS doesn't wake too much...it's all about what works for you!

If anyone were putting their two week old in a cot in the outside loo in Scotland in December, I may have to comment, but as we're all operating well within the bounds of sensible-ness (too early in the morning for proper English) then we should try and probably fail to not feel guilty!

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 09:21

Thanks Northern! v sore shoulders today, guess I jolted them when I put out my hands to stop myself. But grand apart from that and minimopsy appears none the worse for her jolt. PHEW!!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/03/2012 09:58

Northern I still feel pants, but i'll be okay thanks :)

Hawthers Tell your DH that you are going out today and your going to leave the DC with him and you'll see him in time for dinner later - go and treat yourself and then see how he reacts!!

Mopsy Good to see your both good apart from your shoulder.

hawthers · 17/03/2012 10:24

DH tried to pass it off as tough he meant while he was putting DS1 to bed rather than while he was out at work Hmm

Not holding out much hope for mothers day. DH is having a tough time with his new job and the DS' being ill. He can't get over the thought of one of them heading back to hospital any time they are ill. Which I sympathise with but really they just have coughs and colds so I try to reassure him but I'll only ever be wrong to reassure him as you can never be too cautious and yes I can't rule out one of them ever going back in.

I'm finding it exhausting trying to jolly him along as he is so pessimistic. And I'm a bit worried that he is depressed as he just says that everything is shit and there are no good things in his life at all. either that or he is a complete drama queen Wink

Either way tomorrow won't be much fun I don't think. Oh well onwards and upwards

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 10:25

All my trial nappies washed, dried and ready to go but mothercare hasn't any nappy bins or disposable liners. The latter I could live without at a pinch but nappy bin essential methinks! Grrr. Will have to order online now and wait to try the nappies...

hawthers · 17/03/2012 10:26

dsm will be going for a run later. Not a treat but will get some needed endorphins (so) going

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 10:26

Sorry things are so tough hawthers :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 17/03/2012 10:34

Hawthers Fingers crossed you have a nice day tomorrow. Enjoy your run. Run past a Costa or Starbucks and have a cuppa & large slice of cake too. Grin

I hope my Mother's day is a nice one tomorrow if Darcie behaves - as past 2 days have been quite challenging.

OiMissus · 17/03/2012 11:03

No matter what happens tomorrow, if we get flowers, cards, treats or nothing, the most amazing thing to celebrate is that we are mothers! We are mothers! It still amazes me. We have produced such amazing little people - what more could we want.
If you want to guarantee that you get something special, go out today and get some card and poster paint so that tomorrow you can make a tiny footprints and handprints card. A perfect souvenir for Mother's Day. Grin
DH is anxiously awaiting a parcel today, so I am catered for, methinks. Gonna get some paint anyway. Smile
I ordered some dribble bibs from the Funky Giraffe Bib wotsit online. Apparently they are fleece backed so the dribble doesn't soak through. I bought 7 or 8 for £16, I think. The more you order the cheaper they are. They have a wide selection of styles and colours. I'll let you know what they are like when they arrive and are roadtested.
Have a fab weekend all!
(I really ought to get a shower and get dressed!)

MissRee · 17/03/2012 11:04

Mopsy do you have a Toys R Us near you with a Babies R Us section?

aethelfleda · 17/03/2012 11:16

Mopsy you can use any lidded bucket, sometimes cheap shops sell them with the cleaning stuff. It will be loads nicer if you have a mesh liner bag though (did I send you a link for them? If not PM me).
Morhercare aren't doing too well really are they?

About to brave the supermarket shop though only with DS... I expressed a bottle last night and DH got up at 6.30 and i had a dozing lie-in til 9 which was lovely. I do sometimes wish our babies had a sleep-for-six-hours-starting-now button, we could press it at 10pm and all get a decent kip. If he doesnt improve his night feeds soon I'm going to have to go to bed at 8 :( I remember at about 12 weeks with DD2 I brought in a night formula bottle to try to knock her out for the night but it didn't work!!!

MissRee · 17/03/2012 11:19

Oi I told DP I don't want anything for Mother's day (payday isn't until next week and I don't want to have to dip into savings just yet). I also feel that having Freya is the best gift I could have asked for considering we never thought it would happen Grin I like the idea of the hand/footprints tho. We have a clay kit someone bought is but haven't got round to doing it yet. Maybe a job for tomorrow!

I feel very productive this morning! DP works every other Saturday morning so this morning we got up, made DSS breakfast, made him get washed and dressed (without argument), made him put his bag together ready to go home tonight, make his bed and put a film on to keep him occupied. Got Freya bathed and dressed then off for her nap, tidied and cleaned the kitchen, put some washing on, hung some washing out and then got DPs breakfast and a coffee ready just in time for him to walk in the door Grin

He's feeling a bit sore today after doing an accidental somersault at work and landing on his back, almost electrocuting himself and someone plugging in a tool and starting it next to him and shredding the skin on his arm! To say he was a little bit accident prone yesterday is an understatement Hmm

mopsytop · 17/03/2012 12:30

aethel, yes I got the mesh bag you recommended. I thought the nappy buckets had an extra tight lid or something? MissRee, babies'r'us is a bit of a trek. Think will just go online. Too lazy to go out in the car. Plus it's St. Paddy's Day-should be drinking and celebrating really!!

MissRee · 17/03/2012 12:39

I'm sure I saw some in our big Boots store at bluewater as well Mopsy.
