Fingers x they sleep well...

Molly finally dropped off at 8.30 despite going to bed at 7.15....

LaTrucha · 23/10/2012 12:50

She was good in the end. One wake up at 9. She was threatened with no school in the morning if she woke up again. Not a peep. I wonder how long I can use that one for?

OP posts:
simpson · 25/10/2012 23:48

Glad she seems to be better!!!

All good here and I have finally heard that I can definately start my placement in a local school to train as a TA from half term.

Will be doing every Wednesday >

Molly was in the local paper this week as they publish all the kids who have started school in the borough which was really sweet.

I was in the kids school today listening to yr4 kids read and all of a sudden kids started leaving all the classrooms but no alarm going off or anything, anyway it turned out there was a special assembly and as I was leaving I saw reception kids going in to the main hall (Molly waving and saying "mama" etc) they looked so tiny Sad

Anyway, when I went to pick her up from school 45 mins later, it emerged that it was a special assembly and receptions first one and Molly did not like it and was brought out sobbing ( along with 5 others) it was a special bongos assembly and very loud.... Bless her!!!

JKSLtd · 26/10/2012 20:08

Simps - The first assembly with the whole school is bound to be a bit intimidating and to have it as a loud bongos one is unusual planning to say the least!

Sounds like she is doing well with reading the magic key stuff already, took T ages to get onto that & then he loved it as it was a bit he could easily read :)
The homework thing sounds a bit OTT already though which is worrying.
How is she coping with the big year group? wasn't that a big worry before?

As for Ex, grrr for you.

LaT - so sad about April :( hadn't realised how close you were to it all. I keep all grim news away from T still as he tends to dwell on these things, so can't imagine dealing with it with an even younger DC.
Hope S is better at night time for you.

We've had some strange nights, H was up crying on and off for 2 hours in the middle of the night one night, then M up chatting & laughing another night. Am hoping for a decent night tonight.
Esp as we're heading down to Devon to stay with my parents for a few days, starting off with DH but then he'll head back to work and I'm braving the drive home with the 3 of them on my own. Tell me it'll be ok?! Hmm

I've had an 'i'm under-appreciated' strop this evening. Not very dignified but was fed up after M threw her cup at my head & H mega-stropped over nothing at teatime & Dh only stirred to think about tea at 4.55 when I was already doing something, etc.etc. Sure I'll be back on track tomorrow
if i get some decent sleep...

Anyway, long waffly post sorry, hope everyone is doing ok?

LaTrucha · 29/10/2012 14:13

Are you feeling more appreciated today JKS? We are still having awful nights here and D and S are very offended by any suggestion that their sleep is less than perfect Hmm. I am trying a reward chart from tonight.

Are all you English people on half term this week? We are.

Simpson - I wouldn't have thought bongos were a good idea either. Sabela has had her first disco Shock for Halloween at school. She loved it but I thought the music was very loud [ancient emoticon]. Sometimes I look at ehr and I can't believe how enormous both my children are, especially D as his speech is s good. I can forget how little they are. I wish I could go back to when S was D's age. We were having such a horrible time then I didn't enjoy it half as much as I could have.

And on that note, I'm fairly sure it's someone on here who has nominated me, so, thankyou. That was a nice thought.

Oh, and things at home may just have slightly turned for the better.

OP posts:
simpson · 30/10/2012 23:12

LaT - fingers x things stay good at home!!

JKS -have a good time!!

All good here. Joshua has been doing a football coaching week at his school which is run by an external sports company. I picked him up today and one of the coaches came out and asked me which football club he played for and I looked blankly at him Blush and he said he must play for a club as he is very good

So am looking for clubs that are not too far to get him too each week etc etc. although I have to say I don't relish standing watching him play in the rain with Molly kicking off etc etc.

I am so pants at checking my landline phone messages and I finally bothered to check them yesterday to find that Molly's physiotherapist called a week and a half ago Shock requesting an emergency appt Blush

Luckily I have managed to get an appt for Friday.

Madmouse you were right re Molly's weeing. I took her to the doctor and she said it sounds like Molly has an irritable bladder so to avoid citric acid in drinks ( another thing to add to the list).

LaTrucha · 04/11/2012 19:43

Dh HAS JUST TAKEN A PAIR OF NAIL SCISSORS TO S'S HAIR AND HAS HACKED ABOUT FOUR INCHES OFF. IT IS THREE INCHES SHORTER ON ONE SIDE THAN THE OTHER.

'BECAUSE IT NEEDED A CUT'.

Just needed to get that off my chest before I go downstairs and try not to AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
him.

It was so beautiful.

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 04/11/2012 20:21

OMG LaT Shock wtf was he thinking? no, don't answer that, what a daft-bloke thing to do.
Hopefully it will grow back just as beautiful & you can wind him up with the story for decades to come.
My advice? take photos for evidential purposes

Otherwise, I'm glad to hear things are more positive at home, or were before today!!

H had another seizure today :( i'm calmer than DH, as usual I think. It's not good, there's no denying it. It makes the Feb one look less likely to be a febrile convulsion, and we may have to concede some sort of defeat on the seizure-freedom front.
I will contact the various docs tomorrow and see where we go from here. I really don't want him on meds again...

Trip to Devon went well though, and trip to friends for fireworks yesterday went well too.

DH off on a work trip from Tues for a week, PIL unable to come and lend a hand (can't remember what they're up to), think my brother may come out at the weekend if he can to help out.
Though today may have scared him off!

LaTrucha · 04/11/2012 20:27

Well, that's slightly more important than a haircut, JKS. Sorry to hear that. What does the return of seizures mean in the long run? Good luck for the up and coming absence. Sending you a big hug and a well done for keeping calm.

S has been up to be sick. I am typing in her room. If she''s well enough to go to school tomorrow, it's definitely a pony tail day! Though it may well not actually be long enough any more. small sob.

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 04/11/2012 21:12

Not really sure what it might mean. Meds is my first thought. And I'm anti atm. Which isn't exactly rational but...

We always knew that there were another 'dodgy areas' that they didn't remove as they weren't causing any szs back then. They know from all the intensive mapping they did exactly where those areas are, so an MRI that shows they are now causing szs would then give them good cause to take them out.

Otherwise, drugs may control things, but with 2 szs a year it's hard to know if you're getting control through drugs i would think.
And eeg would make sense I guess.

The main thing - and the reason i'm calm i think - is that any szs he has should not affect his development in the same way that the previous lot did. We still would like to control them but it's not such a black hole to be looking into. IMO anyway.

LaTrucha · 04/11/2012 21:24

That's good JKS. Is there a chance he may have another operation then? How would you feel about that? It must be something that raises so many questions for you like that about medication or not. What is behind your feelings about medication?

I have managed merely to ask him never to touch the DCs hair again and leave it at that. I'm very mature. Smile

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 04/11/2012 21:42

LaT - respect! I would have turned into a fishwife/harridan and gone crazy. I aim to learn from your maturity Grin

The meds are just so complicated, and toxic. They often don't touch certain types of szs so you have to be sure what they're having before choosing a drug. Last time, they didn't know what type he was having and we were experimenting with various before someone in the know identified them, and then we found out the drugs we had been trying were useless for them anyway. Frustrating.
But...and it's a big but. There is this thing called SUDEP - sudden unexplained death from epilepsy. And leaving szs uncontrolled can be dangerous.
Tricky balancing act.

He could have another op. They did say that was a possibility at the time. It would be more straightforward in terms of hosp stay than last time. Last time he was in nearly 2 weeks as they had to test stuff first before taking stuff out. Now they know where it is, they could do it and us be out in the space of a few days. They don't hang about :)

LaTrucha · 05/11/2012 07:18

It does sound like you have a lot of oconfidence in them, which is good.

I know epilepsy medecine is comples. I have an adult friend on them and he's been having awful problems.

I think you have to be in my current situation to be that mature, so I don't wish it on you. I'm looking at her now. It has gone from halfway down her back to jaw length on one side and shoulder legth on the other and I could weep. I've also got to find a haridresser today to sort it out.

OP posts:
simpson · 07/11/2012 21:36

JKS - how is he now??

LaT - I would be fuming with the haircut!!

All good here, Molly being busy as usual but is getting so much better at entertaining herself....

Getting ready to start my placement on Friday, was supposed to start today but the school could not find my paperwork Hmm

Apparently the reception class that I am in have PE on Friday which will be interesting!! Molly's teacher says it takes her class 25 mins to all get changed!!

JKSLtd · 08/11/2012 14:42

Simps - he's fine now thanks :) Happy at school, saw his Head this morning and she commented how happy he was, and talking to her, etc.

LaT - have you managed to find a hairdresser to minimise the damage yet?

I'm going to become a Governor at H's school :) & eek. Met the Chair today, first meeting next week. Really hoping to get involved behind the scenes & keep the school as brilliant as it is for many years to come. Though have been warned some meetings are rather dry & tedious, lol.

Lots I should be doing, but M is asleep and it's not long til i have to wake her up & collect T so sitting down with a cuppa for now.

LaTrucha · 08/11/2012 19:28

Good for you JKS. G;ad to hear H is happy.

I took S to the hairdresser but must say I wasn't greatly impressed with them either so DH has had a field day. It does look quite sweet and have to admit behind gritted teeth that it does suit her more a bit shorter.

I may even buy a paor of hairdressing scissors and have a go myself - but definitely hide them from DH!

Good luck for tomorrow Simpson Smile I hope you enjoy it.

Did Madmouse really stay off MN?

LOL LaT!

Simps - yes good luck for tomorrow :)

madmouse · 09/11/2012 22:39

Mostly LaT. I post occassionally, usually of something gets my wick.

simpson · 09/11/2012 22:59

Today went really well Smile

I loved it but it was hard work and I was thrown in at the deep end and had to assess kids etc etc....

30 reception kids having a PE lesson (OMG - it takes them forever to get Changed!!)

Some of the stuff they were doing I was Shock at, all the kids seem to know all their phonics sounds, and are using lap tops every day to type stuff on and can all write.

The kids had a craft lesson to make and design a bed and I was thinking there is no way Molly could do that.the kids had to make 4 legs out of card, measure and stick them onto a base etc etc...

But I had a good time and got stuck in Grin but came home with 3 kids (a friend of J's had tea here) to find the power had been off for 2hours Shock

Had to wait until after 6pm for it to come back on (whole street was out).

Luckily I had arranged to take the kids to youth club and Joshua had a football lesson from 4-5 so when we got back all was ok. I was not looking forward to their tea in the dark!!!

madmouse · 10/11/2012 22:10

Simpson Nathan has PE in his school uniform. I think they will progress to changing at some point during the year, but as he and his buddies are all physically disabled, autistic or blind none of them can remotely change themselves and there would be no time for PE!

simpson · 11/11/2012 11:26

An awful lot of them needed help as does Molly in her class....

They had all got dressed again after the lesson was over and gone out to play before lunch apart from one little boy who could not find his trousers!!!

So he had to stay in his PE kit until after lunch when we had to check down the back of all the other children's trousers to see who was wearing the wrong ones to then find out very few trousers were named!!!

JKSLtd · 11/11/2012 11:44

I never understand why so many people don't name sch uniform.

I know T used to go into sch in PE kit, they always made the Reception PE first thing. Then they only had to have one change into uniform afterwards.
Even now, T is in Y2, getting changed is a mission.

simpson · 11/11/2012 22:14

Some of the so called white polo shirts were grey despite being sent home to be washed at half term.

They are a lovely group of kids though, I think I am really going to enjoy myself...

Reading with yr1 tomorrow (at DC school)

PTA stuff in the morning on Tuesday and then reading with yr2 in the afternoon and then parents eve in the evening

At placement on wed

Reading with yr4 on Thursday.....

Maybe I should just move in!!!
