Simps - you've used 24studio before haven't you?
Tempted by a nice dolls house for M for Christmas from there. The 'Kensington Mansion' to be precise :)

simpson · 20/09/2012 21:54

Oh which one is that??

Molly has a dolls house from them which has her name on the roof.

She loves it and plays with it every day and she has had it nearly 2 yrs now...

JKSLtd · 21/09/2012 07:48

It's not pink! It has a red roof and looks v smart. I could get her name on but I want it to be 'share-able' so I was thinking no name.
It's £56 - down from 130ish allegedly. Comes with furniture I think.

simpson · 24/09/2012 22:35

JKS - Molly's one is lasting well and it played with every day so has been well worth the money Smile

How is everyone's DC getting on with coping with school??

Molly is falling asleep in her dinner most nights and does not go full time until next week!!

All she tells me is that she made the right choices ( still!!)

Have had a bit of a nightmare trying to sort out her school dinners but think its ok now (fingers x) and SENCO seem on the ball re what she needs in the classroom. The deputy head took a photo of Molly's new special scissors today to order them in for her although she absolutely hates them and prefers her red ones (the ones you recommended madmouse).

JKSLtd · 26/09/2012 20:01

Why can't she have the ones she prefers Simps?

The house I'm looking at this one: here

Haven't had a chance to show DH yet but we did see one in a charity shop window the other day that was lovely (if pink) and was £130, so £60 should seem like a good deal.

Dealing with sad elderly neighbour, she had (another) fall this morning, not sure what can be done and I'm not in the best position to help with 3 little DC, 1 of which won't go into a strangers house anyway without screaming, even if i wanted to go into her fragile ornament-full house anyway.
Had to leave H & M on the front door step while dropping off some shopping earlier, which should have been fine but then she wanted to show me her non-working tumble drier (which is ancient anyway) and i really couldn't stay. :(

madmouse · 27/09/2012 13:34

JKS I know M is growing up too fast but she's some way of 3 yet, you not worried about small parts?

JKSLtd · 27/09/2012 14:33

Not too worried though I would probably take out and store the smallest stuff.
But I had wondered, maybe a 'chunkier' 1st dolls house this year and think about a wooden one with small bits in the future/next year?
Don't want to get something she grows out of so fast it was a waste of money/time. We have Happyland houses already. Not sure of a middle ground and don't want to acquire more plastic tat stuff to put somewhere.
Happy to spend a little bit more ££ for something that will last & we could add to (with the hidden away bits at least).

Said as I sit surrounded by toys as I'm trying to rearrange/tidy/throw away/give away to make space for Christmas!

Not helped by T buying all sorts at his school fair. I gave him some money (only about £4) and told him to have fun while I stayed with M (DH was at home waiting for H's bus). I thought he'd spend it on sweets & activity stalls....then he came back loaded down with an animal hospital, a little pets house thing (which M loves btw!) and assorted action figures. Sigh. My fault entirely!

LaTrucha · 27/09/2012 21:28

Hi all,

Signing in as the world's biggest failure as a PTA mum Grin

Not only did I say in response to the Headmaster's enuiry if I was going to the AGM, 'No.' and nothing more (Daniel was insane with tiredness and would have had a fit if I had tried to take him somehwere where he had to be quiet) but I have failed to make cakes for the bake sale tomorrow (I thought I had an ingredient then didn't) but I cannot stay for the coffee morning (I have to open breastfeeding group) nor have I much money at all to give Sabela to spend (60p).

Epic fail.

JKS is M walking? Daniel damn near destroyed our house when he was cruising as it was the perfect height to cling on to. Sorry if she is way older than that. I lose track hopelessly.

Sabela is fab though tired. She has learnt some nasty screaming tricks from a new friend, who I know quite well. Unfortunately for her, Sabela is a very good mimic so I spotted what was going on straight away and pulled her up on it. She was a bit dismayed but seems to have given up now Smile

JKSLtd · 27/09/2012 21:42

LaT - firstly 60p is plenty for a charity school cake sale. Imagine if everyone spent that, they'd raise loads.
Secondly, last time I baked stuff and was v underwhelmed at the thanks I got + they had tonnes. So I've not bothered this time.
And thirdly, I'm not going either!
So if you're bad, I'm worse Grin

Yes, M is walking, she started on T's birthday in May (helpful to remember for the future, esp as he started on his own birthday years ago, handy for me! Bad for H as I don't remember a specific day, oops).
She is chaos-personified. But it's fun Grin

I tried to rearrange some cars into a different box today; what with H emptying it as it was the 'wrong' box for those vehicles Hmm & M emptying it as it was something to empty (double Hmm) it lasted about 5 seconds! Cars currently still all over the floor and new box is looking beautifully useless!

simpson · 29/09/2012 12:22

JKS - Molly has got the personalised cranberry house. I got it for her way before she was 3 and she was fine. Tbh once it's put up there is no really small parts to worry about (I think a few of the furniture for the kids room is small).

LaT - I am being a failure as a mother too ATM (to do with school). Molly got a set of homework last week, we have to take a picture of our child going up the stairs carrying something and then back down again carrying something. I am boycotting it (this weeks one - is a photo of your child using tv remote to prove they can do it) as no printer and quite frankly have got better things to do!!!

LaTrucha · 06/10/2012 21:57

The cakes were 50p each! Thank goodness I found a £1 in my bag or there's have been ructions from Danny!

Sabela is exhausted but loving it. All yours?

OP posts:
simpson · 10/10/2012 20:22

I have volunteered to go in and listen to kids read next week at J & M's school.

They are breaking me in gently by starting me in yr1 on Monday!!!

Molly loving school but pretty tired and my God the amount of work she has to do is shocking. Think I am going to have a chat with the teacher about it tbh. They are expecting them to learn how to spell/ write tricky words already (Molly cannot really write!!)

LaTrucha · 10/10/2012 20:58

That seems incredibly fast going to me Simpson.

Great news about the reading. I hope it goes well. How did you get your TA qualification?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 10/10/2012 21:00

We've all got horrible feverish colds here. I hope you are all doing better.

OP posts:
simpson · 10/10/2012 21:11

Not got TA qualification yet, still working on it Smile

Going to have a word with M's teacher I think....

Nothing else exciting to report exH still being an arse Angry so no change there then!! Grin

LaTrucha · 10/10/2012 22:01

Are you doing it through a local college?

What's exH up to

OP posts:
simpson · 10/10/2012 22:23

Done the first course through my local college and need to have a placement for 6 months before I can do the last course.

I have a placement and am due to start after half term and the school (not my kids school) are pissing me about a bit re CRB check etc...

Was going to go in there tomorrow to sort it but unfortunately I have left the vital paperwork in Molly's book bag and her teacher has kept it in the class room ready to hand out yet more homework tomorrow, so will have to go in on Friday.

The reading I am doing is all voluntary but all helps and looks good on the CV Grin

I have had one training course about it (back in April) so am having a refresher course on Friday at 2.

ExH doing the usual, either ringing drunk or ringing and asking me what he has to do to be able to speak to the kids (but then doing nothing). I hung up on him last night and he kept calling back (I did not answer - as I am sick of telling him what to do and it's not my job).

He did not even know that Molly had started full time school Shock and then blamed me and said it was my fault for not telling him!!!

LaTrucha · 17/10/2012 07:27

Arse. I fully appreciated before I was married just exactly what it means to have children with another person.

How's the reading going?

Sabela is off school this week - again - with impetigo. She's also waking up loads in the night and demanding to come to my bed. I'm getting really fed up. I think I'll try a reward chart although I'm not sure if she'll remember it in the middle of the night when she's just woken up.

I have been letting her come in and moving her back. Usually she would just stay in her bed after one time but now she's back and forth. It started when I was ill about ten days ago and she always gets freaked by that.

Any ideas?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 17/10/2012 08:16

I NEVER fully appreciated ....doh

OP posts:
madmouse · 18/10/2012 10:19

I would go for a clear no you're not coming in my bed and so taking her back every time she comes in.

LaTrucha · 18/10/2012 12:36

I really buttered her up - and made it clear what would happen - before bed last night and she was great. I made a great fuss of her this morning.

The problem with just saying no and taking her back is the screaming as she shares a room with Danny.

Fingers crossed, I've nipped it in the bud.

OP posts:
simpson · 22/10/2012 17:07

LaT - how is she getting on now at night???

The reading is going really well but if I hear "The magic key began to glow" one more time!!!

Am in with yr1tomorrow.

The teacher from the other school has called me and said she is looking forward to me starting after half term so we are now just playing telephone tag until we get to speak to each other and sort out days/times etc...

LaTrucha · 22/10/2012 20:27

Sounds good, Simpson Grin

Two nights good, the rest bad. I didn't cave but she didn't give in! I have laid down the law again and we'll see tonight.

I don't really know how affected she has been by the whole April Jones thing. There are pictures of her and pink ribbons everywhere. I had not told her the exact truth about the pictures but have told her what to do if approached and left it at that. I don't think there is much useful understanding a four year old can have of what happened, and very few defences against adults whatever you tell them. I think they've said something at school though as she told DH that a bad man had taken April away from her mummy and daddy. She told him that was what she was upset about. Lots of hugs and cuddles today.

OP posts:
simpson · 22/10/2012 20:31

Molly has apparently been talking about Aprill Jones at school too amongst her friends which has upset her slightly as obviously the tales they are telling are not nice....

Molly has not been the easiest to get to bed these days (it has taken an hour this eve) but once she is asleep she is usually ok

LaTrucha · 22/10/2012 20:39

Machynlleth is the next town to ours. Lots of people I know were involved in the search and the level of postering is beyond imagining. We had three seperate photos through the door on one evening.

I left my two giggling and saying 'poo' to each other in bed tonight. They seem to have settled down ok!
