Congrats again to TicTav and Teuch, and hope to hear from the others who went into hospital earlier this week, really soon.

Glad to hear the bF is getting easier TicTac - you'll both be experts soon. Take care of Peyia,

Morning girls!

Hope everything is going well. I was due yesterday so I think I am the first on the Feb 06 thread to be late. Can't believe I am again as I was 9 days late with dd1 - was so sure this time I would be early.

May be because I've got a stinking cold so my body is keeping dd2 in so she won't get infected!

Anyway, take care and I hope to be joining you soon. xx

TicTac · 02/02/2006 14:28

Hotmama...we are looking forward to you joining us...and all the other girls. It is quiet over here at the minute!
There seem to be a few early labour signs with some of you due now...Helen I think might be over with us soon

JuA · 03/02/2006 15:06

hello
well am officially allowed to post on here now - can't see me having much oppurtunity though!
Glad to be back home - dd has been really good so far - although not v impressed when they cry!!!

TicTac · 04/02/2006 13:00

welcome home Jua - how are the twins going? sleep is hard enough with a singleton...not sure I could manage twins!!

OP posts:
JuA · 05/02/2006 18:16

Hi
Well both babies sleeping and dd in bath with dh supervising.
They are both being really good - feeding going OK although I have decided to mix feed them both as there did not seem to be enough hours in the day to exclusively breastfeed both of them!! and that seems to be working OK - they latch on really well much beter than dd ever did!! which is a big relief.
We have managed to get them to sleep quite well with lots of swaddling - dh is an expert!!
Hope Peyia is letting you sleep

Frizbetheexpansionset · 05/02/2006 21:07

awwww JuA sounds like you have it sussed sorry for the crash girls, will be back when I eventually drop!

TicTac · 05/02/2006 21:27

Jua - sleep...you lucky lady! we are exclusive BF but Peyia has got terrible wind so is v. uncomfortable on her back. She is feeding well but v. frequently at the minute because the wind brings back some of her feed. It isn't easy because she is so diddy.

I am not having any luck at expressing my milk either...have you ever done it/ have any ideas?

We get a lot of "wake" time with her already so even though the nights sometimes feel hard, she very much makes up for it during the daytime

Glad the twins are doing well and the DD is settling with them too. That must have been a worry...how to integrate your babies..

OP posts:
Frizbetheexpansionset · 06/02/2006 08:28

Tictac, I had luck expressing from 3 weeks onwards, it takes time for supply to build, also found couldn't get a thing out hardly with a hand pump, but the electric ones are fab
Re wind, I'd go infacol for a bit, it does help, although I was initially reluctant to use it, eventually I resorted to it and the result was amazing! Oh it also took about 8 weeks before a friend found dd's exact produce a burp every time spot or maybe it just took time to develop, but I was soooo grateful to her for that

TicTac · 06/02/2006 13:12

Thanks Frizbe! We have been using Infacol for a couple of days so hopefully we will start to get some good results really soon. I have a hand pump for the expressing so will keep trying it for a bit but if you think the electric ones are good I might plunge for one of them if I still don't have any luck!

hurry up and have your baby so you can come over here full time X

OP posts:
Jasnem · 06/02/2006 13:38

Hi - I probably won't be able to officially post here for weeks, either, but wanted to add a bit about expressing.
I found it really hard (only ever tried a hand pump), but the thing that helped me was to express from one side whilst feeding on the other. Also saved time!

Glad things are going well for everyone, really hope some of the overdue ladies get to join you soon...

JuA · 07/02/2006 18:16

I expressed from about 3 or 4 weeks with dd and only got 10 - 20 ml to start with - using aventt pump - I used to do it just after I had fed dd but from the other side. It didn't take long before I could get lots more. Alsomech easier to expess am.
Spoke to soon on the sleeping front. Jess fed until about 3am and then Em fed from 3 - 6!!! So no sleep for me - although I did manage 2 hours when dd was at toddlers with dh. They have slept/fed well today so goodness jnows what tonight will bring!!

TicTac · 07/02/2006 21:55

Oh Jua - it's a big "boo" on the sleep front isn't it!?!

Peyia not setting at all (posted on antenatal thread ofr help/ advice)

Flamesparrow · 08/02/2006 09:38

Hiya TicTac.

DD was soooo miserable in her first few weeks, and got given the whole "colic/wind" diagnosis. I am now one of these preaching converts to chiropractors for babies! . I had tried infacol, we were mix feeding, so I tried various different milks to help with her wind, but nothing was working, so a friend suggested a chiropractor. They are slightly different to the cranial osteopaths, but similar theory - the body goes through a hell of a lot in labour (especially a fast delivery), and if just one bit is out of alignment, then it can throw off the rest making food hard to digest, trapped wind etc.

It turned out that DD had a slight crick in her neck (she had feeding problems from one side too), and they just very gently rubbed it. It took a couple of sessions a week for about 3 weeks, but the change was noticeable from the very beginning. It was so gentle that she actually slept through half of the treatments (and she was the magical no sleep needed child... was awake the same amount she is now!).

She took her feeds happily after that, slept better, and all signs of "colic" were gone. I'd recommend it to anyone.

With the dummy... Again, my baby wasn't going to have a dummy My baby also wasn't going to cry for hours on end if she wasn't sucking mummy's finger/nipple. She ended up with the dummy after the chiro sessions finished. I just couldn't cope with her needing to suck on me any more, and she would not find her fingers to suck. It took my friend holding her for about an hour, with a dummy held in her mouth to get her to accept the thing, and life suddenly became sooo much easier. Yes, they don't look nice, but it isn't forever - if you watch her, she will probably want it most when she is tired, so limit it to sleepy times, and we found that we didn't have the whole "Oh I have to go in 10 times a night to put it back in" thing by taking it out as soon as she fell asleep - she got used to sleeping without it in then.

Hope things start to get easier.

TicTac · 08/02/2006 10:21

Thanks Flame...I wont chuck the dummy in the bin just yet then...the chiropractic option sounds like a plan! I just posted on the other thread what a good night we had in the end but I would be suprised if it lasted!
I guess it is easy to forget that labour is traumatic for the babies too
