Hello all. Couldn't see a new thread so thought I'd do the honours. Sorry for rubbish title, I'm no good at witty! :)

MrsA sounds like you've done a great job of re-teaching him to self settle, well done!

Debs75 · 09/10/2012 19:09

Happy birthday badvoc
Mtsa it sounds like you managed ds's little blip well. All mine tended to wake in the night for quite a while, Robyn was 18 months before she stopped waking for boob and another 2 years or so before she stopped waking in the night.
Thankfully neither of the girls wake in the night regularly but when they do it is a killer

Meglet · 09/10/2012 22:15

bookmarking......

Badvoc · 10/10/2012 19:09

Sigh.....
Ds1 been off school all week with a cold/cough/sore throat virus.
And now Toby has just started throwing up...:(
Am fed up.
And feeling a bit off myself...:(

Meglet · 10/10/2012 23:22

badvoc Sad everyone is ill at the moment. I plodded into work today feeling a bit crap to discover the whole team are feeling weird. We all have a head cold and dodgy stomach. I decided to fight it with several mugs of green tea and I don't feel worse tonight so hopefully it'll settle down.

I cheered up after a rant about adults who don't wash their hands after going to the loo. I kept hearing women just walking out after having a wee when I was in the ladies and nearly lost it at one point, no wonder bugs spread around a big office Angry. and I am very tempted to stick a fierce note up on the toilet door.

notcitrus · 11/10/2012 05:50

Hope you feel better soon badvoc.
I'll be up for some sort of controlled crying as soon as dd is in her own room, which requires a lot of furniture shuffling. Currently her cot is in my room so it's still feeding on demand to shut her up, but now she's teething horribly, getting over another cold, getting indigestion, and learnt to roll over in her sleep but not back again, as well as pulling my hair and scratching my face at every feed. And this week's new exciting skill of being put in the cot asleep but waking 3 minutes later just as I'm getting snug again.

Ds is having the odd bad night but usually is being a complete star at the moment. He's even adding new foods that aren't fruit or veg, every couple days. Adding anything potatoey and melted cheese to his diet has made things so much easier!

Badvoc · 11/10/2012 06:48

Omg...tmi alert!
I just had an accident!
Didn't make it to the loo in time...how embarrassing :(
Ds1 now complaining if tummy ache :(
Cosmic.
Toby couldn't even keep water down last night...hw long do you leave it if they can't keep water down?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/10/2012 12:26

Oh Badvoc how awful. Sounds like you have the nasty one that's going round. I had a similar accident myself last week - luckily I was working from home. DS threw up a couple of times but nothing major. A friend of mine has an 11m old and he couldn't keep water down for days. She kept taking him to the doctors who kept saying, ride it out, keep offering milk, water, light snacks. Eventually after a whole week she took him to A&E who were similarly unconcerned. They said as long as his skin doesn't become dehydrated (pinch test), it's not serious (assuming nothing else like rash, temperature etc). They advised her to syringe water into his mouth every 30mins during the day.
After 8 days, he finally got better.

I believe it's a nasty bug that is like a gastric cold (not the flu but very bad) as we've all now ended up with colds.

The no milk resettling with DS is still on track. After the awful night on Sunday and he then slept through, the past 2 nights he has woken once or twice in the night crying but has resettled really quickly with dummy and shushing. he has often woken because he's crawled halfway down the cot and got stuck, so that kind of comes with the territory at 10months. The most he has cried is 5mins and I'm glad he can get back to sleep without a feed.

Ugh. Feel terrible.
I am a major wuss about sick.
It's pathetic really.
Thank you for the sympathy
Hopefully Toby will keep the water and food down he has had this morning.
Thank god for leather sofas!! Sick all over it last night...he was just sitting there and just threw up everywhere with no warning!
Am currently on diaorylite - yuk.

Badvoc · 11/10/2012 13:20

:)
Cough cough
Don't come too close carrie....

Meglet · 11/10/2012 22:21

oh badvoc you are having a miserable time Sad.

Nice to hear your DS is more settled now MrsA. I bet he susses out the cot wriggling out fairly fast and you can all go back to peaceful nights.

I had to buy DD some new clothes today, her sensory issues are just like mine. Luckily I know where she's coming from so I got some comfy, soft, not too tight leggings for her. I will have to suss out what to do when it comes to school uniform as she will go into meltdown if something feels weird. I think that's why I hated uniform, it wasn't my usual, self-chosen comfy clothes.

Badvoc · 12/10/2012 07:45

Meg...you may find you have to avoid labels (or cut them out) and buttons.
I found with ds1 elastic ages waists were the way to go although it gets harder when they get older :(
Ds1 still hates to wear his school logo sweater...sigh. That's £30 wasted!
Also hates his school logo fleecy raincoat...argh!
I also find with ds1 that it has to be 100% cotton for him to be truly comfy.
He has recently decided he likes the pjs with cuffs at the bottom? S I got him 4 pairs in the sainsbos sale :)
He is back to school today as he wants to hand his half term project in :)
Toby eating a bit and drinking so hopefully over it.
I otoh feel ghastly...oh well..

Meglet · 13/10/2012 15:42

Thanks badvoc. I'll was going to keep an eye on what girls school uniform was out there so we can aim for the comfiest pieces. Tights are going to be a no-go I think, she has a couple of pairs at the moment but they do involve a bit of a tizz so she doesn't really wear them for very long.

I have an AIBU / WWYD thing going on I need to run by everyone. My sister has suggested the kids stay over at her house next month and they will do an indoor camping thing.

Fair enough, but (and this is where my neurotic parenting kicks in) she has a new boyfriend living with her who I don't know (have met him briefly twice) and to be brutally honest I don't want the kids staying with people I don't know. Hell, she barely knows him as they met in NZ in feb while travelling, then not again until June. He moved over from Ireland to move in with her last month, and he's 11yrs younger than her. I don't want the kids to go as she is having a bit of a teenage phase, at 36 . Am I being completely loopy trying to get out of it? I just want the kids to be safe and I'm also a bit fed up of her trying to get them buddied up with her latest boyfriend every so often, as they never last very long.

Badvoc · 13/10/2012 17:20

Yanbu.
I completely understand.
My kids have never spent more than a couple of hours with my kids for similar reasons....

Badvoc · 14/10/2012 11:49

Sigh...now ds1 throwing up....it's me next isn't it? :(

ninja · 14/10/2012 21:05

Oh badvoc hope you're OK. Sounds messy in your house :(

Just back from a reunion with school frinds, so lovely to see them. Didn't have the kids as the ex was away last weekend and wanted them this, but in some ways it was quite nice to go myself and kept me occuipied.

Besfore that I'd had them for 9 days in a row which was lovely, they became more and more relaxed as time went on :)

Really ready for my bed (after a 3am bedtime last night) but must finish the cleaning first ..............

Meg touigh one, although on balance seems pretty sensible on your behalf.

Badvoc · 15/10/2012 07:05

Ninja :(
Yeah.
Up most of night with ds1 and am feeling a bit dodgy myself now so am sticking to water and hoping for the best :(

CappuccinoCarrie · 15/10/2012 14:15

meg I think you're right to be concerned and say that you want the kids to get to know someone an awful lot better before they're in a position of staying overnight at that person's house. And of course for your peace of mind you need to get to know him better. YANBU!

Glad you had a nice time ninja :)

I bought this top this morning. Is it a bit too orange...? Got a fundraising dinner on friday night and a friend's leaving drinks on Sat.

Meglet · 15/10/2012 21:41

carrie the top doesn't come up on that page, it's the debenhams home page. I like their doggy knit sweater though.

badvoc oh you are having a crap run of it aren't you Sad. These days I also starve myself a bit if I think I'm coming down with something, water and green tea seem to sort me out. I'm sure the foulness of green tea sends all the germs running for their lives!

Thanks for the advice on my sister. I haven't got back to her yet, but yes, my gut instinct is to say thanks but no thanks. I'm going to have to give mum the heads up before I do as it will cause a nice family rift in time for Xmas. TBH if my sister wants to help I wish she'd pop round for the odd hour so I could escape to the gym, she used to walk the kids to town for babycinos so I could have a couple of hours peace. I don't get that anymore .

You know when you come on the internet to do something and you've completely forgotten what it was Confused. That.

CappuccinoCarrie · 15/10/2012 21:51

Gah, its gone!
meg the only sure fire way to remember is to shut the computer down and go to bed ;)

Meglet · 16/10/2012 22:08

carrie I remembered in the nick of time, I had to print out a couple of photos for DS.

How are you all today badvoc?

Badvoc · 16/10/2012 23:47

Boys fine thanks meg.
I however am sat here with the shivers and am feeling very sick.
Not much in my stomach though :(
So fed up...

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/10/2012 13:05

Oh you poor thing badvoc Sad Really hope your family's health improves soon!
Glad you remembered in time meglet! Where are you up to with the tricky conversation with your sister?

Badvoc · 17/10/2012 14:46

Thanks carrie :(
I am bad at being ill.
Have had some rice cakes and crackers but not been sick yet.
Bluergh.
Just want to get it over with.
Toby back at docs tomorrow, but dh might have to take him :(
