Happy birthday Penguin

Cheshire fx everything is ok (I too get pet guilt!)

BB3 is DH back now? (completely lost track of time Blush)

Super I have same problem with big baby, hoping when he's on solids he'll start sleeping better.

MrsH hope you have a better night than day

E is still poorly coughing everywhere and snotty, but hoping to have a good night so he can fight it off

MrsHende · 16/02/2012 23:12

Thanks Pebble!

Happy birthday Penguin Thanks.

Cheshire, Vanish spray works miracles! We did boil washes on L's stained clothes until someone told me about it. I'm going to give a bottle of it to every new mother I know from now on! (That and a can of Batise dry shampoo and an under eye concealor, who needs another wee outfit!)

FuzzzyDuck · 16/02/2012 23:58

I'll second the vanish!! I like using the powder stuff. A scoop in with normal powder and stains all gone!! My mum even managed to get an old curry stain off a table cloth from years ago with it. She was very impressed Grin

Happy birthday penguin!!

P pooped in potty?! Your a crazy lady!!! Grin

pinkpainter · 17/02/2012 03:31

I know a great way of getting poo stains out - sunlight!! I just stick my stained clothes out in the conservatory or on the line (it even works on dull days) and the sunlight bleaches the poo stains out brilliantly.

Having a terrible week - feeding so painful, milk blisters on both sides now, plus on antibiotics for blocked milk ducts again, half term so no preschool - oldest DD really playing up and pushing the boundaries - I feel like I'm constantly having a go at her and feel so guilty for my lack of quality time with her (spend 6/7 hours a day feeding), plus to top all that my FIL may have cancer, we will find out for definite next week but it's not looking good :(

Only one more day to go and the weekend will be here - :)

Re weaning - I'm hoping to leave it to 6 months too, M is only 16 weeks.

I may have one of the smallest babies on the bus - she was only 10'5 two weeks ago, I'm only weighing her every month now as her slow weight gain was stressing me out - she seems to be doing well though, she can roll to her side, giggles and smiles loads and reached out and pulled the music thing on her chair yesterday, think more luck than anything but I was still very impressed!!

BB3 · 17/02/2012 03:47

Penguin hope you had a good birthday evening

Pebble, yes he is Smile so night times are slightly more bearable!

I've had by first period this week and I bf girls, was back after about 3 months with ds Angry

BB3 · 17/02/2012 03:48

Gosh pink, I'm do sorry about your FIL, really really hope your week improves x sending you chocolate from the stash xxxx

BB3 · 17/02/2012 03:48

So not do!!!

CheshireDing · 17/02/2012 04:45

I hope your tummy improved and you had some wine for your birthday Penguin.

I will try the sunshine today whilst waiting for DH to get some vanish on the way home from work thanks ladies :)

I hope things turn out ok for your FIL Pink :( Congratulations on the rollling and grabbing though.

Fx you have not been woken by E's snot and coughing *Pebble)Grin

Scheherezade · 17/02/2012 06:23

Happy birthday :) :)

LittlePebble · 17/02/2012 07:20

Oh Pink sorry about FIL. Sending so much sympathy for milk blisters/blocked ducts my left boob (aka Bad Boob) still has blister after I think 6wks and it keeps blocking. It's bloody painful and now my nipple is starting to get strange chunks our of it Confused
We're off to doc's today E had horrendous night coughing crying and so poorly Sad

LittlePebble · 17/02/2012 07:22

BB3 Grin for DH

Oh and Cheshire xposts last night I missed the bit about P and her potty Confused I don't understand?!

sassy34264 · 17/02/2012 09:37

morning. ive come upstairs to try to feed eva but she is still sleeping and i hate waking her up.
ive put her to bed in her cot at 9pm for 3 days in a row now and gone back downstairs and she has just gone to sleep all 3 times. have a baby monitor and she hasnt even cried. she wakes about 5am for a feed, which she did last night, and has slept ever since. no lie in though, as twins go to bed and wake up at 7 oclock.
my milk is going to go completely at this rate. im already on breast/bottle/breast/bottle. Hmm

hope its nothing with regards to the smear cheshire. i got a letter asking me to book mine a week ago and i keep forgetting. will do it after this.

so sorry to hear about your fil pink we're going through it now with my sil. its just awful. hope its not cancer ( fx.)

penguin hope you had a nice birthday.

bb3 yeah for dh/dp's being home! im totally getting into delegating mode, 'just pass me this/that, you get the coats while i make juices'........its fantastic. Grin

dp wants to do some jobs around the house today. starting with all the crap that's in our front garden. bet the neighbours think we're the clampets! so while he's on a tip run, i think i'll take the babies for a walk along the canal.
hope you all have a nice day. x

sassy34264 · 17/02/2012 09:40

sorry pebble forgot to say, hope e is better soon and ouch to the sore boobs. Sad

FuzzzyDuck · 17/02/2012 09:58

Aw pink Sad

Do they normally request a smear soon after birth? I can't remember when my last one was. It starts early here in Scotland, think I had my first just before I turned 21 and then they are every 3 years, so I must be due soon. I'll ask next time I'm at the docs.

Great about the sleeping sassy. Sad about milk tho

Think we are having quiet day in. Got someone coming to pick a few things up from freecycle. Slowly getting rid of some junk!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/02/2012 10:38

fuzzy snap on junk clearance I've sold/selling quite a bit on eBay, am off to post office this morning with 20+ packages I bet everyone will love me!

OP posts:
FuzzzyDuck · 17/02/2012 11:00

ed ha! I never have much luck on eBay. Listed a few clothes of S but none sold. I cleared out a cupboard in her room that was a mess! Got rid of a few things on freecycle. Tackling the spare room for half hr while she naps. It's become the washing/drying junk yard since I done up her room. It's shocking Blush

Hope E feels better lp. Poor babies just can't shift these colds/coughs Sad

Scheherezade · 17/02/2012 11:03

Ooh, lots to catch up on!

pink sorry to hear about FIL :( hope it all works out ok. You're having a real rough time of it aren't you with DD and sore boobs. Is there anything you can do together when you are feeding? I'm not sure how old she is, but read a story to her or vice versa?

glad to have helped super - my brains a sponge, was it the bf or sleeping advice? I can't claim to have any superior knowledge, I had a really rough time bf in the early days, but was "lucky" to spend 6 weeks in a mother & baby unit, so had lots of midwives and experts on tap to give me advice 24/7, so just passing on the knowledge! If sleep - I was really, really struggling with C, and one of the nursery nurses from the unit came out to give me some support, and I've also got a great HV who keeps in touch by text and pops by often, so they both gave me great advice with controlled crying and settling.

little sorry E is poorly :( I'd absolutely FREAK OUT if C ever got sick, he's never had so much as a snotty nose because we never leave the house so when he does eventually catch something I'll probably whisk him off to A&E !

good luck with the smear Cheshire I've never had one, being under 25. I've got an apmt with the nurse today for my contraceptive injection, so I'm going to ask her. I'm 25 in May, so they might ask me to wait until then, but tbh now it's on my mind I want to get one done.

Really annoyed I let my GP talk me into having the injection, I've had constant bleeding for 3 weeks now Angry just light at first, but getting heavier and no sign of stopping. Am going to talk to the nurse about it. I might just not bother with the injection again, am so Envy of all the bf ladies out there without periods, when I've had to wear pads for almost a month now!

What do people use for contraception?

It must be lovely having DP back sassy - don't know how you cope, come 4 o'clock I'm climbing the walls without dp here, and I only have one reasonably easy baby to look after and a very needy, PITA dog !

I need to ebay stuff, tempted to just chuck it all in the bin though....!

Scheherezade · 17/02/2012 11:30

Just gave C his first ever dose of calpol as he was being miserable and grumpy with row red cheeks. He's in a much better mood now Grin although he has just done four explosive poos in a go, so it could also be that!

Smell of calpol brings back memories Grin

golemmings · 17/02/2012 11:38

All hail sche guru of sleep!

Alex usually has his morning nap in the pushchair; he falls asleep on the way home from nursery and sleeps for about 3 hrs. Because its half term DH has been taking dd in in the mornings so DS has been missing out on his morning nap. He's barely slept in his cot for the last week anyway, howling and writhing in it but settling fine in his bouncy chair or my lap.
So this morning he was clearly tired watching me clean so I put him in his cot. He howled. I went hack once. I went back twice, he started to root. I came down to sterilise a dummy for him and before it was cooked he was asleep. I went to check on him to make sure he was asleep and not in trouble and he was lying on his side, facing the door hanging onto the cot bars like a prisoner trying to escape. I feel quite guilty now. He's woken and cried twice but self settled again.

Last night he was in his cot 10-1 and 3-7.30 which is such an improvement.

He also sat unsupported on Wednesday which is very exciting. Dd never sat. If you tried to make her why she would wobble or slump but was crawling at 7 months. She was another one who would stand from about 2 months and she was cruising at 8 months (but not walking until 16 months...). Hoping a will be the type to sit still and play with stuff. He almost got out of his bouncy chair yesterday. He was sitting in it and decided to reach for his toes. Nice stomach crunch to reach them and then he discoverd he could reach a bit further forward and touch the floor... That chair has now been retired!

sorry to hear about you fil pink and hope tests are ok cheshire. Phone behaving badly so can't actually scroll up at the moment. Hope poorly people are all feeling better soon.

FuzzzyDuck · 17/02/2012 11:58

go sounds like you've got a live wire there Grin!! Funny that a young baby can keep you on your toes so much! Great though the amount they are achieving in just a few short months. S is trying to pull her knees under when on her tummy and likes sitting up right if supported. Still not quite got the balance yet and goes way forward or to the side. She doesn't put much support on her legs to 'stand' but likes being on her knees Hmm

sch could some teeth be about to pop through?! Red cheeks and explosive nappies sound promising!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/02/2012 12:01

pink so sorry to hear about your FIL an sore boobs.

sche I've still not had a period so am relying on BFing but will need to decide what I'm doing before weaning.

fuzzy it's crazy the things people buy on eBay I listed lots of beautiful dresses some of them designer and no one was interested But yet a pair of ugly shiny silver boots (FOR A BABY) and a poncho for a baby had loads of bids Confused so I actually still have all the really lovely things of mhairi's but managed to sell everything I hated wasn't too keen on.

Ferino · 17/02/2012 12:27

Hi all,
I've hardly posted but lurk daily and really find it helpful to see how you're all doing and read your great advice and tips.
I just wanted to let you know, pink, that you aren't alone in the small baby stakes. DD is 19wks now and was 10lb 14oz on Monday. I was really stressed about it at the beginning and still have some anxiety but have adopted a similar tactic and only weigh her every few weeks now as it was hard to take it when she only put on a couple of ounces some weeks. I'm coming to terms with her just being a little one now, most of the time... Hope you're feeling similarly.

pinkpainter · 17/02/2012 12:31

Edward - NCT sales are excellent places for selling babies clothes, probably a lot less hassle than listing things on ebay, and a % of the proceeeds go to a good cause, just in case there's one going on near you.

Thank you to everyone for all your kind messages.

I've gone for the contraceptive injection too - as I don't want any more babies now. Felt a bit irresponsible though as I just said yes to it so quickly without really understanding the side effects or anything about it. My friends are teasing me about how reliable it is and saying I will get pregnant again!!

pinkpainter · 17/02/2012 12:37

Ferino - yes, I am slowly coming to terms with her just being little. She is still in some newborn clothes and 0-3 look quite big. Glad to hear I'm not alone in this. Are you bfing too? I have problems with bf and sometimes blame myself for poor attachment as the cause of her being small. I'm only 5'3, size 8 (erm...well I hope I will be again when I have finally loose my baby weight) and small boned so hopefully she's just taking after me....

sassy34264 · 17/02/2012 13:39

just looked in j &i's red books to see what they weighed about now and ive only had them weighed 3 times! Blush once at 3 days, then at 18 days and then at 9 months! oops.

all i can say ferino and pink is that in my opinion, if they werent getting enough milk, surely they would be crying after feeds. if your small, chances are that will be the reason. everyone on my side of the family is quite solid. nothing dainty about us at all. but isobel is a little dainty pixie. she was just moving out of 3/6 months when she was 12 months. she is 18months now and is in 9/12 months clothes. someone said something about their baby being 70cm the other day and i thought bloody hell, i think isobel is only 74ish. she can eat though and isnt that fussy. its just that when shes had enough, she just clamps her mouth shut! Smile

well, i went for the canal walk. walked for an hour and then turned around and walked back. feel like ive run 5 miles! my legs are ceasing up and im exhsusted. pushing a triple pram with 3 kids in it, is bloody hard work. had bright red cheeks and a sweat on. Grin
