Too bleary eyed to read, we'be been up every 2hrs again :( going to try formula at night.

LittlePebble · 06/03/2012 07:08

Morning all, Mama hope DS is better?
Well done rolling babies! E still shows no inclination to roll just wants to sit up or stand.
We're trying to tackle self settling this week. Only way I can get him to sleep not on boob or rocking though is with a dummy which isn't ideal, but hoping it'll teach him to sleep in cot then we can get rid of it.

Jnice · 06/03/2012 07:49

scheh it's the same here - 2-3 hours max all night. I used to get at least 1 4 hr stretch but I can't remember the last time that happened. I don't know what to do. He is feeding well, and feeds the same through the day.

I remember with ds1 starting solids because of this and it made no difference. I'm feeling the same as you in that I CBA to start food now.

-sigh- I don't know what to do. He has shots this week and that's bound to mess it all up even more.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/03/2012 07:58

jnice and sche mhairi is the same (but she always has been) i was thinking of giving a bottle of formula at night but she refused it when i went a night out so looking like i'm stuck on the breast wether i like it or not. [yawn]

This baby used to sleep through! Feel I'm at the end of my tether getting so angry with him Blush . Decided to blame it all on DP. Obviously.

Not sure if its worth switching to formula at night or weaning, but weaning won't make a difference for weeks anyway will it, as just starting off slow. He's 24weeks on Saturday.

LP no rolling here either he's too busy demanding boob but he does turn round on front and back.

Scheherezade · 06/03/2012 08:07

Sorry x posts ed and Jnice

C would do 12 hours, but half the time now I think he's waking out of habit, not actually hungry.

FuzzzyDuck · 06/03/2012 08:09

I may get flamed, but I think starting on solids has helped S sleep better. I think she is more satisfied through the day, I know that milk has more cals than food, but food is packed with carbs which also helps to make you feel full(?). Not 100% but I can notice a difference in her sleep. sch why dont you offer some baby cereal this evening and see how he takes to it. It might be that really he is ready.

Jnice · 06/03/2012 08:09

I used to get the odd 7 hour stretch too Sad I am just resigned to being a zombie now. I just got notice that I have a part time spot for L at daycare from April (yay!) but not going back to work until October - I am taking it so I can nap and maybe exercise and do a tiny bit I work from home. I will have to go into savings to pay but right now I am desperate.

Jnice · 06/03/2012 08:11

No flaming fuzzy if it works - yay! L is super hungry too, maybe I will get desperate enough to try some avocado. More calories in that Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 06/03/2012 08:15

I don't see why not. They are all past the minimum 4 month mark so nothing wrong with a little bit of food to try. Even banana is high in calories. Maybe half a banana in the evening along with regular bedtime feed might just fill ds up. If you think be is waking out of habit though, then that's a different situation. If you know he isn't hungry, offer some cooled water from a free flow cup

golemmings · 06/03/2012 08:49

We seem to be bucking the trend here. Alex's sleep seems to be getting better. After a week of him pretty much sleeping in my arms and snacking lots he's finally back to proper sleeps. Last night he went 7.30 to a dream feed at 11.30 and then woke at 4, sodden to the arm pits. He was happy to play in his cot whilst I changed the bedding etc and whilst we were both awake he had a feed and woke again at 7. I've been quite anal about ensuring he has 2 proper naps a day too. He'd dropped back to 2x20 mins and I think his brain was just getting too full. He's 5mo today.

Someone also seems to have swapped dd. She has changed from a whining, whinging, stroppy stubbon 2yo to a charming, caring little girl who is lovely company. I assume this too shall pass but I'm enjoying it while it lasts!

I hope things get better for the rest of you and jnice, good news on the nursery place!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/03/2012 09:18

yay for DD golemmings DS is the same he still has his moments but behaviour has definitely gotten a lot better the past couple of weeks

Yay go Smile
ed how did restarting toilet training go?

Bubalie · 06/03/2012 09:57

Morning everyone, sorry to hear everyone is having problems with sleep. I'm still rocking L to sleep 3 times a day (unless we're out where he will fall asleep in his buggy or car seat), and he will only have 30 mins naps. he is now much better at night since I've finally given in and let him sleep on his tummy, he will go to sleep around 7:30, I wake him up for feed around 1am and he will then sleep until 6:30-7 in the morning. So nighttime not too bad, but daytime still a nightmare. scheh I remember my SIL said to me that she found it so much harder to cope once my niece had slept through the night and suddenly had a bad night and started waking up again. I think we're so used to sleep deprivation in the early days/months, and then babies get better in sleeping through the night and not waking up all the time that once it starts happening again we don't seem to cope as well. I had a really tough time a couple of weeks back, so completely understand how you feel!
Fuzzy I want to up baby rice this week as up to now L was only having a little bit. What is the best time to feed him and how much do you give S? I used to give it just before his 11am feed, but kind of want to maybe start feeding him baby rice a bit earlier (around 9ish) and giving more in preparation for fruit and veg next week? Also, what baby cereal do you give S and does it contain wheat?

Bubalie · 06/03/2012 10:01

Scheh does C take dummy? Just thinking if you think he is waking up out of habit, would he dummy help? Do you co-sleep? When we had problems with L's sleep at night, I used to bring him in bed with me and most of the time he would settle, but we have co-slept from very early on..

FuzzzyDuck · 06/03/2012 10:39

bub To start with I was giving S 'organix four grain cereal' (rice flakes, maize, quinoa and buckwheat) but iv moved onto 'cow and gate sunny start banana and strawberry porridge'. Both are from 4-6 months.

Our day is looking like this:
7.30am - awake/nappy change
8am - 7oz milk
9am - 2 x scoops (the ones from the formula tins) of baby cereal mixed with 2oz milk, followed by ice cube size tub of fruit purée. This morning I also followed this with a few fingers of toast. She chewed for a bit but wouldn't say she ate much!!
12pm - 7oz milk
1.30pm - yesterday she had some more fruit purée but from next week this is time I will give lunch
3.30pm - 7oz milk
5pm - tub of veg purée followed by fruit
7pm - 7oz milk

Bubalie · 06/03/2012 10:44

Thanks Fuzzy this really helps as I had no idea as to when and what to give! I will try and follow this from next week, L wakes up earlier than S so may have to bring some timings forward, but think will keep the breakfast for 9am it seems to be a good time! :)

FuzzzyDuck · 06/03/2012 11:12

Hope it works out bub Smile

If anyone is interested, I've got 2 x 50p off vouchers for 'cow & gate baby rice'. Both can be used together (I've done this with other things) so if anyone wants, let me know and I can put them in the post Smile

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/03/2012 12:32

not started again yet fuzzy was out all day monday then mhairi had her jabs this morning so he's at MIL's who is too much of a clean freak to attempt potty training

i've now got "training pants" for him as i'm out too much to pop a nappy on him when we're out, so the plan is now to have 3 or 4 days at home tackling it, then i'll use training pants when out and a nappy at night. not looking forward to having to carry 3 or 4 changes of clothes everywhere with me though, and i dont really like seeing him in jogging trousers but theyre easier to pull up and down. does that all sound ok?

went out yesterday to treat myself as i have literally nothing to wear i've put on so much weight so wanted to get myself a few basics to last me until i lose it, which should hopefully not take me longer than 3 months, have 37lbs to lose, anyway went out and bought myself 5 tops from primark for £30 then spent £80+ on 1 dress for mhairi and 2 tops for christopher Shock i'm now officially a fashion martyr to my kids Sad

FuzzzyDuck · 06/03/2012 12:43

Yeah sounds like your doing a great job with C! It's just a faff when your out but agree, jogging trousers are prob easiest for him. Keep it up!! I'm having to physically restrain myself from not buying anything for S or me!! I think since she was born, I've bought myself a few tops Sad!! She really doesn't need anything, but it's so easy to do. Is starting to outgrow alot of things right now so I've been going through wardrobe. Shame really that things last a few months then they are too small. I'm the same, trying to shift some weight before I buy anything new for myself. Determined to do it for good this time!!

Scheherezade · 06/03/2012 16:23

Day from hell. Constant screaming since 7am, I've given up and just put him in cot to CIO. I've tried everything. Ended up at a neighbor's doorstep I've only spoken to briefly on the street, in tears :( she was lovely. Made me a cup of tea and took C.

I just don't know what to do.

Scheherezade · 06/03/2012 16:31

Apparently he just doesn't like my right breast either Hmm

Scheherezade · 06/03/2012 16:41

Omg, he's asleep (well done left boob)

Scheherezade · 06/03/2012 17:04

And he's off again ..

Scheherezade · 06/03/2012 17:21

Sorry multitude of posts. No he won't take dummy. I plan on getting v. Drunk tonight and he will have to make do with dad & bottle.
