Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
InmaculadaConcepcion · 16/02/2012 21:03

Thanks for all the tights recommendations! I'll try H&M and the leggings suggestion is good BG, although I'll probably still wear skirts over the top as my arse is becoming embarrassingly gargantuan.... Blush

bethy sorry to hear you've been having a bit of a torrid time lately, what with all the illnesses and you and your DH rowing to boot.

PenguinArmy · 16/02/2012 21:15

The knickers over the top of tights normally worked for me

beth Hope you are on the mend

BabyGiraffes · 16/02/2012 23:20

dd2 has a great sense of humour. When people ask her how old she is now she will randomly answer 'Six' or 'Seven', then rock with laughter and immediately admit to being 2 when they say 'Really??'. She is also great at making her big sister laugh by stating the obvious or just making up words that sound silly. I guess if you are tiny and younger it helps to be the clown? I have to secretly film them having dinner together one night when they are in a good mood. I just love how close they are. I never had that because my siblings are 9/10 and 8 years either side of me...

StoneBaby · 17/02/2012 19:18

Just thought I'll share this offer with you. £29 for a Britax car seat with free delivery... Bargain! Smile

I hope everybody is getting better. I'm under the weather with a bad ear infection but the AB and drops have stated acting.

PenguinArmy · 17/02/2012 20:41

I know most people have had their DCs birthdays but the Christmas presents DD is playing the most with atm are: duplo lego, happyland farm, a set of four cars (police, fire, truck and digger) plus a photo album we got off freecycle filled with random left over photo's.

She is now on the final setting of her bumgenius nappies. Had a great time at the park today. I think I can say I'm better (had a tummy upset yesterday, which combined with car not working and bad night made for a grumpy birthday).

Plus I tied her hair back and although she looked stunning she looked so much older Shock

PenguinArmy · 17/02/2012 21:05

these are the cars they run very well, although maybe DCs will be outgrowing them soon. Mind you, I'm sure you're never to old to play 'race cars' or 'car crash'

bethylou · 17/02/2012 21:36

Grr.. just wrote a long post about why DH and the ILs have pissed me off this week and it's disappeared! Clearly means that you were not needing to hear my gripes. Suffice to say that DH has left this evening for his stag weekend (off) without checking that I am well enough to look after both DS afer two very trying days with them. This is very unusual and I hope that he will come back refreshed and ready to get involved again, being his usual lovable, loving self.

IC Can't help on the tights front bu very impressed about the baking.

PA may all the illnesses now be over and we are both due for a long healthy period I reckon! Hope you are treaed to a birthday weekend.

SB hope you are better soon too. I understand that earache can be some of the worst pain imaginable.Sad

BG loving DD2's sense of humour. DS2 told me about his dream for the first time last week which was very cute. Tonight he said, "No Mummy! Want two dummies!" when I gave him his night time dummy. I am always amazed by typical development of number awareness as my work children do not often get to this point! He is also becoming a big wind up merchant - runs off with DS1's favourite toys non-stop and waits for a (predictably massive) reaction! This has led to two rather fraught days for me!

Anyway, I've got chocolate, Wine and the remote control and I'm going to use it!! Have good weekends all.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/02/2012 22:16

Sorry to hear it's been a tricky time bethy - enjoy the vino and the telly!

Likewise sorry to hear you had a grumpy birthday PA - hope you're properly on the mend now. I know what you mean about tying hair up making them look older! I'm going to get DD's all cut off now - I've booked her first proper haircut for next week.

Hope the ear infection clears up pronto, SB.

Arf at your DD2's mischievous sense of humour, BG!

DD has started obsessively wiping her eyes and I'm not sure what to do about it. When she began doing it occasionally - a few days ago - there was nothing obviously wrong with her eyes or the skin around them, although now she's made the skin a bit inflamed and sore with all the wiping - which is making her do it even more. Anyone had this before? We've tried various unguents on the skin, but they don't seem to make any difference.
It's not helped by the fact that DD is just coming down with a cold too Sad
She woke up twice during the evening yesterday, once so fully, we had to do a "re-boot" to get her back down and even then, she didn't settle until I'd given her a shot of paracetamol. She's been fidgeting and muttering a bit tonight too, but so far so good (FX)....
Ah well. We'd had a few weeks respite.
Bit worried about the eye-wiping, though.....

PenguinArmy · 17/02/2012 22:19

IC DD hasn't slept through for a month now. DD has started pulling her hair and I've tried to take a ignoring approach of tell her to be careful or she'll hurt herself (like I do when she's on the edge of something). Depends if you think she's doing due to something physical? What about a trip to the nurse?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/02/2012 22:22

Yes, I think if there's no improvement by Monday I'll sort out an appointment to have her looked at. I suspect we'll end up with more different unguents to try...

How's your DS doing, PA?

PenguinArmy · 17/02/2012 22:25

He's still a bit congested and his cough sounded chestier today :( But as there's no real other issues it's just the duration that's the concern. I'll see how he is on Monday and maybe get his chest listened to. Feeding is fine although texture of nappies has been a bit weird. Temperature spikes every few days but not for long.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 18/02/2012 11:21

Aw, poor wee mite Sad
Hope he gets better soon x

StoneBaby · 18/02/2012 15:18

Oh poor Nigel.

DS is asleep in my car and has been for more than 1 hour Shock I've tidied the house and now wonder what else I can do - just relax would be the best option me think Blush

PenguinArmy · 18/02/2012 15:51

I can top that SB DD has taken herself off for a late afternoon nap Shock. (she still on 5am starts)

StoneBaby · 18/02/2012 16:12

Ooch 5am! I'm lucky that DS sleeps 12 hours + and has understood that weekends mean lie in < duck to avoid objects thrown at us>

DS at the moment likes toast with Nutella AND peanut butter Hmm

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 18/02/2012 17:24

yeah, still 5 am start here too

PenguinArmy · 18/02/2012 17:37

39 plus fever explains that extra nap oddity

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 18/02/2012 18:05

PA Sad

InmaculadaConcepcion · 18/02/2012 19:17

Oh, PA Sad
Blast.

StoneBaby · 18/02/2012 20:46

Oh PA please get him checked. DS used to have bronchiolitis at this age with bad fever and nasty cough.

PenguinArmy · 18/02/2012 21:17

It's DD with the fever, otherwise I would SB

bethylou · 18/02/2012 21:35

I think PA means that DD has a high temp now rather than DS?

I've had a reasonable day with both boys, apart from having a funny spell just after breakfast when I suddenly went all hot and nauseous. This is the second time this week that it has happened and I'm sure it is just part of this weird bug, but not nice when on my own with both DS. Took my migraine meds (as they start differently each time) quickly and was fine thereafter. Starting to wonder if I'll be fit for work by Monday, due to that and my hoarse voice, which is rather essential for my job, and that will be 10 days after it began. Maybe I should have given in last weekend after all?!!

DS1 has reached a really awkward stage this week, whereby he literally does nothing I ask. I assume it is more to do with him being nearly 4, rather than just us all being ill. However, I will wait and see how he settles down when DH is back and we are all well. In the meantime, it is a battle. I am remaining calm and consistent but it is hard to find positive bits to prasie him for at the moment which doesn't feel very nice (and I know it will be really hard for DH to keep as calm as I have). DS2 has put forward his own opinions by throwing a building block at my head and hitting DS1 repeatedly with the (hefty) weight from his helium balloon. A normal day at the Bethylou ranch then...Blush

PA we've had 4 nights of DS2 sleeping through this week. I think it can only be due to now putting 3 dummies in the cot when we go to bed, and he has a better chance of finding one in the night when he stirs. I have also turned the monitor down. As you've had more sleepy nights than I have in the last 2 years, I really am no expert, but, hey, if it works for us, it might just work for others!! I hope DD sleeps for you again soon. As for the hair pulling, it may be equivalent to DS2 head banging and needs complete ignoring, rather than commenting on it at all. If it is for attention, even warning her to be careful will reinforce it. Watching DS2 head bang the slate floor was really difficult, but it did stop quite quickly. Hope DS is on the mend soon.

Anyway, off to exercise my control of the remote control again!! And the red wine bottle, obviously...

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 18/02/2012 22:08

Oooo.. I think I've finally namechanged!! Thought this was rather appropriate Smile.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 18/02/2012 22:09

Yehah! Incognito for once!! Feel the need to say something really rude about the MIL while I can!!

StoneBaby · 19/02/2012 07:46

Survival yepee! But boo on the funny turns

PA sorry I must have missed a post. I hope she's better today
