AAAARGH! I write epic post, nip to the loo, and come back to find my computer cheerfully informing me that it's finished installing the updates (not that I asked it to) and so has restarted. And eaten my post.
Bastard computer.

In summary: snot, mucus, poor sleep and evening grumps are bad.
boilers are ace
picture of Miri very cute (and glad to see another Terry P fan!)

Right, I am nipping round the corner to say hello to Plu at Bluewater (which is a shopping centre in North Kent, and although hell is great, as the ambient noise means you can't hear babies yelling Grin), as she is buying technical things to enable her to post!

After this recce, shall we all - Sequin, BJR, MissRee, AWCH- get a date set for a meet up? And is there anyone else who would be able to reach it that wants to come along?

KateM77 · 17/02/2012 11:02

kitty I?m in a little village about halfway between Northampton and MK. Happy to drive somewhere to meet up, just let me know once you?re in Kettering.

LMF That?s very restrained of you?I usually verbalise all the names I can think of in situations like that

Easily yes, the kids always look way better than me! I keep meaning to sort through my clothes but it never happens so I end up chucking on the same old sick covered things. I don?t want to shop for anything new until I?m back near fighting weight and have stopped BFing though so I?ll be scummy Mummy rather than yummy Mummy for a while yet.

Honey It?s never too early for lemon drizzle

Well it had the potential to be a relatively good night here. If only I hadn?t been wide a bloody wake since 2am! There?s no need for that

LittleMissFlustered · 17/02/2012 11:35

The octopus has put on 12oz on a week, no wonder my sodding boobs hurt!

Surely I deserve coffee after that gain?

Sequin1 · 17/02/2012 12:25

LMF - wowser!12oz you
Must be serving gold top on your menu! Good work and a well earned coffeeSmile

LittleMissFlustered · 17/02/2012 12:51

Ta! I had beans on toast too, while waiting for a nearly new sale to start. Living the high lifeWink

aethelfleda · 17/02/2012 12:54

Wow lmf that's epic!

northern I have school runs but am fairly close to the m25 so could in Theory make it to somewhere near the m25 if it was a mid morning do. But my geography may be well up the swannee as are my brain cells....

seven77 · 17/02/2012 13:15

Wow lmf, well done octoboy!

oi you described exactly how DS was after his first jabs. It could be coincidence but he had his 2nd jabs earlier in the day and with calpol beforehand and was fine.

We didn't have much improvement with DD in her own room, but I'm sleeping better not being disturbed by every little noise so we're keeping her in there.

Does anyone else's LO sleep a lot? DD still doesn't usually stay awake for longer than a couple of hours during the day, even after a relatively good night she still always has a nap straight after breakfast.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/02/2012 13:42

Hurrah for octoboy, that's great news LMF!

< hands over freshly ground, steaming, caffeine-laden Brew>

I think mid-morning would be the earliest aethel; those less practised parents such as, um, me, need that amount of time to get organised and out the door! Especially when contact lenses disappear, curtains collapse on you, and old colleagues will not get off the phone Hmm

Will go and re-arrange DS' clothes now, seeing as he's sleeping...sadly for me seven, it's the exception rather than the rule. Yesterday it was a grand total of 45 minutes during the entire day, baring the doze-off-for-five-minutes-on-the-boob manoeuvre that he's perfected... I'm rather Envy of you and your DD!

Coolhand · 17/02/2012 13:46

Msbuggy love the pic!

I second the suggestions of massage etc Mopsy but my experience of Luke's reflux was that these things may help provide some relief but there's no magic cure - what works once doesn't always work the next time. In terms of White noise, the extractor fan in the kitchen worked best - DH and I spent many hours under there. I was also known to drag the Moses basket into the kitchen for a bit - I still put him to sleep under the extractor fan in his chair in the morning!

Seven I find Luke can't go for more than an hour and a half awake without getting grumpy. He usually needs a good sleep in the morning but might just take short naps in the afternoon.

Think I'm going to move to feeding him in the dark - had been feeding him with just a low bedside light but last night he kept catching my eye and smiling. When I tried to put him back down he gave me a heart wrenching look which seemed to say, why won't you play with me, then was completely unsettled for the next 3 hrs! DH came in this morning when I had him on changing table and was calling him a little monster, albeit in a parentese tone!

Wow LMF!

Sequin1 · 17/02/2012 13:52

seven E always needs a nap after 1.5-2hrs awake time anything more and she rapidly spirals into an overtired paddySmile

Think This is average awake time At this age some will fight it others won't, thankfully E is the latterGrin

Sequin1 · 17/02/2012 13:52

Yes learnt how to do boldGrin

plutocrap · 17/02/2012 15:19

Bluewater is not hell; it had my new laptop! Just waitingv as it chargs and rubbing my hands together withglee! Grin

plutocrap · 17/02/2012 15:24

P.S. Met NorthernChinchilla ib the JohnLewis cafe, where our DC fed for longerthan we did (motherhood, eh?) and I got to hold a big, cuddly boy for a moment while hispram was being prepared - lovely! Smile

Amzingly, wegot a table even tho' nitwas half term, although for future meetups, 11am isprobably thelatestwe should get there,m in order to secure enough space!

seven77 · 17/02/2012 18:02

Very quiet on here this afternoon.

We had a projectile vomiting incident here about an hour ago, it must have been pretty much an entire feed all over me (including my face, yuk), her and the carpet for no apparent reason. Of course now I'm worrying as my neice had the winter vomiting bug last week so I know it's going around in this area. She's now fast asleep but hasn't had a feed since, surely she should be hungry?

Sorry for the me post.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/02/2012 18:54

'Tis true, he's rather chunky...but very huggable in my soooo-not-biased opinion. I got to coo over a very lovely little girl myself Smile. Now let's just hope the computer works so that Plu can compose a truly epic post!

Will contact people re meet up when DS actually detaches for any length of time. And as is ALWAYS the case, whenever I post about DS not doing something, he does- today he has slept for hours.

Sorry to hear that seven, sounds grim for you both. I'm sure she'll want a feed in the not too distant, fingers crossed.

MissRee · 17/02/2012 19:21

Had my implant fitted today - very sore arm now!! Glad I got to choose which arm it went in otherwise holding Freya would be agony!

I don't think too much about what to dress Freya in... I always end up changing my little chunder-monkey by mid-afternoon!!!!!

KateM77 · 17/02/2012 20:51

The misery continues here. Every time I think DD is getting better she goes downhill again. Another huge vomit this evening :( 10 days illness and counting, this is one persistent virus.

DH is at the Olympic velodrome tonight watching the World Cup event, so it's just me and the little man snuggled up. DD fast asleep and I'm hoping it continues - she's been screaming out through the night for the last week.

Plans for the weekend = very little, and hope that helps us all get over our various ailments.

A very me post. Sorry.

OiMissus · 17/02/2012 20:59

I cuddled my first "other's" baby today! I've met Bennybenbear a few times now, and other mums and babies, but today for the first time i cuddled Babybenbear. And how lovely it was!
It was great to meet kitty and easily for the first time, and to meet Kristy, sparkly and benny again. We took over a corner of John Lewis' cafe for about 4 hours. and yes, the babies ate more than we did - apart from Ali, he fed once and slept the whole time. Smile

Coolhand · 17/02/2012 21:06

Oh Kate that sounds really hard. Hoping your DD gets better soon.

How are things with DD Seven. I hope it's just a one off vomiting incident.

I met my heavily pregnant friend today and she's found out she's having a boy. I'm so delighted for her - she has two gorgeous DDs and had admitted to me she'd quite like a boy this time. From a selfish point of view, I'm also pleased it'll be a little play mate for Luke.

Got my new car today which was exciting. My wee VW Polo has served me well but it was only 3 doors so a total nuisance with the car seat and the boot space was poor as well. Now I have a nice shiny Ford Focus in the drive which has made my weekend!

aethelfleda · 17/02/2012 21:34

kate what did DD have before the puke ( she's about 3 isnt she?)? Sometimes pukey bugs leave them dairy sensitive for a few weeks: if she had dairy just beforehand you just go dairy free for 2 weeks then re-introduce. That normally settles things down.

EasilyBored · 17/02/2012 21:48

Was lovely to meet everyone today! Am v jealous of babyOi's hair! All the babies were adorable.

Kate, hope shes feeling better soon.

We've had vomageddon here this evening, all over me, dh, the sofa, the baby himself. Blurgh. It was then followed by poopocalyplse. So squeaker has been bathed and fed and is now wrapped in a blanket on top of a muslin on my bed. He's finally asleep after his evening grumps so i can bring myself to move him into his basket for fear of waking him. We've got a very chilled out wknd planned- just a bit of shopping and lots of naps. Anyone else up to much?

mopsytop · 17/02/2012 22:01

My sis had a gorgeous baby boy this afternoon! So excited!

aethelfleda · 17/02/2012 22:06

Congrats mopsy! it will be lovely when the babies are older and can play together.

We're visiting relatives this weekend: am v thankful for our new tank Ford Galaxy with its enormous boot capacity for moses basket/changes of clothes/other essentials. Looking forward to it though a bit neevous about feeding/settling in a strange bed (won't be able to co-sleep as will be a high bed with squishy mattress). Right, off to swaddle DS as he's conked and I need to pack!

msbuggywinkle · 17/02/2012 22:12

mopsy Congratulations! Lovely for your LO to have a cousin so close in age!

DP has just come in with red wine and chocolate. This Grin is now me!

easily poor him (and poor sofa!).

Wish I could make meet ups...but wild older DDs and food and chatting do not mix well!
