Thanks seven will have to stock up Grin We're currently working our way through the millions of freebies and nappies people have bought us!!

KateM77 · 28/01/2012 17:59

Benny Slightly delayed response but....I'm Kate Grin Kate doesn't have quite the same ring to it as Spartacus though!

Congrats on yesterday's final score Air I hope it's been another improvement today

Well, after being awake from 2.30pm-10pm yesterday and alternating between feeding, pooing and screaming, DS finally went to sleep. Was up 2.10-3.30 and then slept again until 6.45 so a pretty good night. I think he would have slept later this morning, but makes so much noise I just got him up in the end. Contemplating moving him to his own room due to the noise and because he's pretty much grown out of the Moses basket already.

Figgygal · 28/01/2012 18:20

I agree with missree in the huggies they feel so much softer than any others I've tried too just a Shame they so much mire expensive than the others.

There's always seemingly something to worry about on the eating front, are they not getting enough, are they getting too much etc. For me I'm still worrying he's getting too much he's taking 170mls a feed, 6 times a day, eats all of them and screams the house down if I try to reduce it going to call the HV on Monday. I know everything I've read says you can't overfeed a baby but sometimes his tummy gets so big I'm convinced it's doing him harm.

bennybenbear · 28/01/2012 18:36

figgy we have such similar LOs! Mine is having 7 150mls a day and screams pretty much constantly between last two feeds in the evening that appears to be hunger so we've even upped then to 180! It seems so much but the HV said it's ok, prob a growth spurt. At this rate he will be huuuuge! The main reason I worry tho is that he doesn't poo often and seems to be uncomfortable trumping and pooing.

Figgygal · 28/01/2012 19:08

benny yup I think DS is a little constipated too he makes very sad sounding grunts and seems to take ages. I'm also putting him on the breast though admittedly he is getting less tolerant of that and I'm still not able to express more than an ounce.

On Tuesday I saw the hv and she said to up his feeds as he was finishing every bottle so we did that but hes finishing those too. at 5 wks he now taking the recommended feed size for a 2 month old/10lber he was 10lb 10 on Saturday so it kind of makes sense but while they recommend 5 per day he's needing 6.

DarcieandSkysmum · 28/01/2012 19:26

I don't like huggies or pampers now swear by tesco own - don't leak & never cause nappy rash! Smile

Think Tesco see me coming earlier spent £200 on groceries Shock

MissRee · 28/01/2012 19:35

I've heard that Aldi's own brand nappies are great but my SIL swears by Asda's own brand! Once we've used up what supplies we have, I shall look into non-branded ones I think. Although, my Dad works for Kimberly-Clark who make Huggies so I can get them at discounted price... Hmmm Decisions!!!!

aethelfleda · 28/01/2012 19:37

kri5sty ((((hug))))) it's so frustrating to feel you're not being listened to.
It may be that Saul is not tolerating cows milk well, but that doesn't necessarily mean he has an allergy, it could be that he's colicky or needs different formula (am I right that you are formula feeding?)

I would suggest going back to the GP (pick a different one, at the risk of being sexist try a female one, ideally one with children!) and explai your concerns. Tell them that the private health visitor has raised concerns of an allergy and can you be referred to a pediatrician to discuss this. The GP may be more sympathetic, sometimes they will work out a plan themselves (if they have pediatric experience) other times they will refer you directly. But do get a second Gp opinion. Good luck hon xxx

aethelfleda · 28/01/2012 19:40

Ps Kri5ty, if he's peeing and pooing then enough food is getting in, keep offering him frequent bottles, and GP wards you go. If you become concerned he's really unwell then ring your out of hours doc xxx

LittleMissFlustered · 28/01/2012 19:42

Today I am feeling the urge to just pack up and ship out. The temptation to eat beans for the next two months and save every spare penny and then just disappear is vast. I'll not, but it's tempting.

Kri5ty · 28/01/2012 20:36

thanks for the hugs aethelfleda :)
Yes i ment he is not tolerating it... he has been on SMA that made him constipated, so we put him on cow and gate. He has always has the excess mucus et after feeds and i knew he was not tolerating it too well (i couldn't eat dairy when i was younger, and my cousin still can't). He used to guzzle his milk down though, and as he has got bigger has started refusing feeds all together, and the past few weeks screaming all through feeds and throwing himself backwards really violently :(

I just wish he would take more haha

thanks for the tip about a second opinion from a female, it does make sense as they will understand my worry :) hehe

MissRee · 28/01/2012 20:42

kri5ty have you tried Comfort formula??

itsybitsy08 · 29/01/2012 01:58

Quiet tonight!
just marking a place really will catch up proper later. I have had dieroreah and vomiting bug - not good, especially when bf'ing. Seems to have finally stopped now, but could do with recouping some sleep. So thanks DS for waking up for your feed a good hour or so more than usual!!

Ps big thanks to all who recommended breast milk for sticky eye - worked a treat and I didn't have to use the drops from doctors after all :)

itsybitsy08 · 29/01/2012 02:30

Kristy sounds awful for you, I agree with athel though - get thee back to docs for a second opinion, find a nice one and stick to them. I'm sure he is getting enough too (nappies are good indicator) but if you are worried you have a right to be taken seriously - you are sauls mum and you know your baby best.

Re nappies - its funny, I think different babies suit different nappies. With DD I hated Pampers and found buggies the most absorbent, never had any leaks. Then when she was older, Sainsbury own version of the active fit was Brill. However with DS its the other way around and I am prefering pampers - the huggies leak. I am shopping in lidl at the moment, and DS will be going straight into thier nappies - he is in size 2 already
and lidl start at size 3 so can't wait. At just over a fiver for 56 the are half the price practically of buggies / pampers equivalent.
Oh and they have a mumsnet award sticker on them so I have high expectations.

Figgy that's right I think about you can't over feed a baby - if they are hungry they are hungry if they are not they are not. Though it would be good if they would think to themselves"hmm not that hungry but I'll have a bit more now, then I won't wake up after 20 minutes acting like I haven't been fed for days, and me mam can have a nice kip!"

Northern that sounds familiar re tiered dp! I could have wrote that myself - very frustrating grrr.

Air loving your floor vs potty score keeping, makes me smile. Reminds me of doing DD. One advantage of winter babies is that they are ready for potty training in summer (well some anyway) DD was 2.5 (born in January) and its much easier for getting all those little undies washed and dried.

Mopsy you are usually around this sort of time, hope this means you are getting some good sleep!

Did you enjoy your night out seven, or were you chomping at the bit to get home yo Eva?

Yawns, DS seems to have conked out - wish me luck for the basket transfer and a few more hours please! Night night

LittleMissFlustered · 29/01/2012 02:39

Luck itsy

I've had to resort to the bouncy chair, octopus boy so chesty he needs the slight angle it has. He's just gone down now, so I'm off to see if I can snag an hour or two of sleep. Hope you're all snoozing peacefully:)

aethelfleda · 29/01/2012 02:56

DS gave me almost 5 hours: record!!

Good luck itsy and hope you are v well soon xx

Hope you and octoboy get some rest lmf )( i take it propping the crib has been tried ie book under the top legs? I use that with the moses bssket and helps prevent ick)

LittleMissFlustered · 29/01/2012 03:51

Crib has weirdy legs that don't lend to propping:( chair didn't last long, he's currently laid across my lap wheezing and gurgling:(

Mmmmcheese · 29/01/2012 03:59

DS (2yo) not very well :( think it is just teething as I can see his second molars starting to come through but he has been grizzly all day and had a temp of 39! Its come down to 38 after calpol/stripping down but I'm still a bit worried about him. No other symptoms. The worry never ends!

aethelfleda · 29/01/2012 05:48

all Ok here, just tired. Hooe ictoboy settled a little, grecto wheezy virus thingys and non proppable cots.

Mmm, can your LO take iburofen? Itsmuch beter at getting a temp down than calpol and you can.combine using the two...

aethelfleda · 29/01/2012 05:49

Sorry for typos, am bleary eyed xxx

AnAirOfHope · 29/01/2012 08:17

Good Morning everyone

The first baby smile of the day is a great thing to wake up to - even if it does happen at 7am Grin

Score on day four so far: Floor 0 Potty 2 Grin
I was in kitchen doing breakfast and Air was in livingroom with his night time pull ups on and he shouted "I done it" and i come in to find he had taken of the pull ups and had weed in the potty all on his own. I'm so proud of him Grin

On a low: I have been up with Hope untill 11pm, then up at 2am, then 5am and then Air got up at 7am so i had to get up with both of them as 'D'H is having a ley in but yeasterday in my ley in he only had to look after Air and i was up by 8am. OK so i'm a little unreasonable and he does need the sleep but it feels like i do more than him and i'm grummpy. I feed the baby, look after Air, tidy up, put washing in and all that he does on a Saturday is play with Aaron. He also does not get up at night so he has more sleep than me anyway. Its not fair :-p

mopsytop · 29/01/2012 09:31

Hi all! Minimopsy slept from half twelve to half four but then husband got up w her so I got a full night! He us suffering from insomnia pOor thing :( wish I cd help him sleep. So I was absent from my usual nightly waffle! Hope you are all well and got some sleep!

Mmmmcheese · 29/01/2012 09:36

air I know what you mean! DH always saying how tired he is but I am doing all the nights, cooking and housework!

aethel yes DS can take ibuprofen, tried that overnight, temp went down to 38, now up at 39 again. Spoke to ooh dr and they said not to worry as he has no other symptoms so just to keep an eye on him and make sure he gets enough fluid. Just hope its not something that DD will catch.

LittleMissFlustered · 29/01/2012 10:04

Zero sleep last night. Shattered. Taking the octopus to the doctor today to rule out chest issues as his night breathing is very laboured and loud.

Mmmmcheese · 29/01/2012 10:34

Hope its not bronchiolitis LMF, last thing you need!
