What's the protocol? Cm won't have him for 48 hours. no food or formula? Offer water?calpol ? Temp is fine. eyes still funky. nose giving the Nile a run for its money.

I have no idea what the protocol is, but I would offer food, milk and water. I've only had to deal with one sickness bug, when ds2 was 2, and he wouldn't touch food, but he would take the odd sip of water. That's not much help is it? Sorry.

All these poorly babies Shock I hope they're better soon. It's horrible for them and bloody hard work to parent.

I'm off out to watch Edgar J tonight, I might have to warn my friend to give me a nudge if I drop off Blush

I am now the branch coordinator of my local branch of the NCT There's so much to do. It's kind of scary, but also a challenge.

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 19:31

Fizz :( to hear this. I'd be tempted to offer him anything that did have sugar that he would eat. Hope he's better soon!

ILTMIMI Vair impresshed with the NCT responsibilities you've taken on. I bet you'd be great at it as you come across as very organised and friendly :D

GlaikitFizzog · 13/02/2012 19:41

Bedtime bottle just made a spectacular reappearance :(

But he has settled. he'll take water ok.

Fizz :( poor B and poor you! Hope you get a chance to get a sit down and a Brew!

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 19:48

Yes! That's my Mr Connery! Although why I think the old who Punch still has a crush on timer has to do with the NCT goodness only knows!

Maybe I should be on the wine..I might be less wobberly :D

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 19:49

Sorry Mr Sir Connery. Best get it right eh?

NotBobbysGirl · 13/02/2012 19:52

Gaaah Fizz :(

My plan so far has been half strength feeds, water and no food for first 24 hours, we've been dabbling with dry toast today but R isn't very interested anyway.

As for CM, eeep dunno!? I'm having a similar issue re: nursery on Thursday. Can't imagine R will be 24 hours clear by then (their policy, I'd prefer 48 personally) and my dad is in hospital for his hernia op and my mum is also working Confused Might be tempted to tell a little fib to work and say that I have it too Shock

Cyclebump · 13/02/2012 20:45

Happy heart day lovely Aprilites. Hope you all got a card at least :)

How is B this morning fizz and how is R NBG?

v impressed ILTMI i spoke to our nct branch about selling stuff yesterday, going to sell S' pram and some other bits and bobs.

Also need to buy a crib and highchair.

NotBobbysGirl · 14/02/2012 09:18

Happy Valentines Day! Thanks

R is still not that great outme diarrhoea seems to be never ending :( Not sure whether to take her to Drs or not, last time they kind of poo-poo'ed me saying that she was ok and just to keep pushing fluids and half strength milk until she was over it. She's still sleepy and grumpy but has spells of practising her latest tricks (pointing and clapping) so I don't think she's too bad.

And to add to that DP started vomitting overnight too, really thought we were past catching it but obviously not!!

These are truly the best days off of work I've ever had!!!!!!!! :(

OutMeAndDie · 14/02/2012 09:24

Hugs NBG

GlaikitFizzog · 14/02/2012 09:48

Oh NBG Sad

B is sleeping it off! He was mainlining water through the night. I think we filled his bottle 3 times so at least 25ozs of water. I offered him some dry toast and breadsticks which he gobbled, he had more water and 3 ozs of half strength formula. It all came back up. Sad I'm just going to stick to the water for now I think. He's not dehydrating with all the water he's having. In between his mega naps he is quite chirpy so I'm not too worried. I just hope the next time he choses to projectile it's not in my kitchen. It was everywhere as I panicked and swung him round towards the sink but it was a bit of an exorcist moment! I can still smell it in there even though I've miltoned everything.

Card from DH this morning and a card for B from a secret admirer!! I think it was my mum even though she has tried to disguise her hand writing and that she obviously asked someone to post it for her as it's post marked Dundee!!

OP posts:
OutMeAndDie · 14/02/2012 09:55

Good that B is taking water Fizz. Your poor kitchen! I dropped an egg in ours yest. Vile.

Awh bless re card.

NotBobbysGirl · 14/02/2012 12:19

Ok potentially silly question, I know you're not supposed to give juice in a bottle but R is refusing to drink anything other than milk just now, I tried water in her bottle and she gulped down a big mouthful and then stopped when she realised it wasn't milk. She can't be bothered with the cup just now so I thought that in the interest of keeping her hydrated I could try some juice in the bottle to see if she'd take that instead? I know juice probably isn't ideal with a tummy bug either but I just don't want her to get dehydrated. What do you think? Treat her bug and worry about rotting teeth later!!?

Aww Fizz that's sweet that B got a card from your mum, she's gone to great lengths to get it posted from Dundee!!
R was like a sleeping machine yesterday too, which was actually quite nice in a way as I got all the sicky bed clothes washed and dried without interruption! She's less sleepy today though just grumpy which I'm hoping is a sign that she's getting better.

It's funny that babies all get bugs together, even ours who aren't in contact with each other!

NotBobbysGirl · 14/02/2012 12:46

Oh bloody hell, can anyone tell me what chicken pox look like when they first start?? Just went to change R's bum and noticed lots of pimply type spots all over her tummy and chest Confused

GlaikitFizzog · 14/02/2012 13:06

Oh no! The pox are like little blisters when they first start, it could just be a little viral rash too though. Keep an eye on them.

Just had 2 hours of miserable baby whinging. He didn't want cuddles he didn't want to sit on his own, he didn't want to lie down, refused the jumperoo, didn't want milk, didn't want water. I know all the things he didn't want, I just had to let him cry it out until he fell asleep and then transferred him to his cot. Poor thing is miserable Sad

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/02/2012 13:16

Oh blimey NBG and Fizz, what a nightmare.

Wrt to juice, my opinion would be that a few days of offering diluted juice will not rot their teeth. If that's what you need to do to get them hydrated, so be it.

Have a lovely time with your parents in France Cycle

A card, book and chocolates here. Hurrah!

Thanks for the kind words about me becoming branch coordinator. I'm relishing the challenge, but I really need to set some time aside to get my head around it all.

NotBobbysGirl · 14/02/2012 13:43

Think you may be right and it is a viral rash Fizz just texted a pic to my friend who is a paed nurse and thats what's she suggested too - phew!!! Hopefully means the end is insight :)
God this is tiring!

Tried the juice in bottle to no avail but she seems to have redevoloped a friendship with the cup! Fickle bloody child!!

Punchthosecalories · 14/02/2012 17:40

My dad has cancer but he wont say what type nor will he tell me what treatment he is going to get other than the first lot will start on 8th May!

The dog has thrown up on me and F wont stop whining. I put R to bed early.

Can't think straight.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/02/2012 17:58

{{Arch}} I'm so sorry. Do you think that maybe your dad needs to come to terms with it before he will tell others? Or maybe he is trying to shield you from it? Whatever the reason, I hope he feels able to share with you soon.

I hope you can get F to bed soon too. Sometimes it all gets a bit much doesn't it? And it's usually something minor (in the scheme of things) that tips you over the edge. I hope you get some time just for you later on tonight.

Punchthosecalories · 14/02/2012 18:09

ILTMIMI I think that's true in that I think the only think he feels he can control about this is the information he tells folk.

To make matters worse my brother is trying to tap my Dad for money despite being given £3k in summer and has been ranting at me on Skype after I sent him a care package of British food. I tried to get him to promise to not bother Dad for money right now and certainly not go on about how little Dad is giving him particularly when your sister is struggling but not whinging and asking for money but I couldn't explain properly as my Dad has sworn me to secrecy.

I had bought and frozen a really beautiful steak on sale saving for Valentines DH is a massive meat fan from Aberdeen but I'm choking back and trying to hold it together. I just want to go to bed when I get F down.

Fraktal · 14/02/2012 18:50

Fucking hell punch Sad It might be, ahem, men's cancer. My grandfather didn't want to talk about his either. Doesn't make it easier but perhaps more understandable

In other news we had a little cyclone and there's another forming...
