OK I'm back, here is my AIBU - we went for lunch today at a community centre, so big room with tables, lots of kids running about, not being supervised but that seemed fine. Then one girl (I am guessing about 4yrs old but am crap at guessing ages) fell over and hit her head on the floor and lay crying right next to us. We looked around for mum, but no one was coming over or looking like they might be her mum, looked again, still the same. So I got up and went over to her still crying on the floor, then her mum comes over which made me Hmm She had a big red mark on her forehead but was running around again so was clearly fine Grin

Also as we were leaving there were 2 girls and a little boy prob about 2 - he was stood at the door where you leave and kept putting his fingers in the hinge, there were 2 women leaving before us and one was saying him "move your hand, mind your fingers" but he wasn't, her friend said they should leave as he wasn't their responsibility. As we left we said to him to mind his fingers and his older sister (about4) held him back til the door was shut. AIBU to think the parents should have been watching more?!

Plus side - A had a great time watching the kids running around and having a (well supervised) crawl about Grin Wink

debka · 06/01/2012 21:07

I've not posted for a while, been too busy on the c25k thread Grin

reastie gorgeous photos, Alice is full of character Wink Did you say upthread you were thinking of joining a SW group? I have a vague recollection... I would say do it. it's a real motivation and help to me.

ponyo I agree with your AIBU, they should be watching their kids more, but sometimes it's nice to have a break! We were at a rather posh soft play in a garden centre this week and some little beast ran up and slapped Imy. She cried and my mum asked why so I explained. Then a woman came up and asked if it was her son, I pointed out the child, she apologised, got him, made him apologise to Imy, sent him off again, he hit someone else, she dragged him out and took him home!! I was well impressed!

ledkr I go to my mum's (same plot, across the drive, 100m away) whilst the girls are asleep occasionally, but only v briefly, just to pick something up or drop off, and I always run straight back. I'd never go further, it's just wrong.

wiggles hope little Anna is better soon, sounds v horrid, but lucky you with dishy doc, I always go all tongue tied and stupid!

44me that sounds like my Imogen too, give her a pot of sequins and some glue and she's one happy 2yo. She was busy helping Daddy construct a chest of drawers today, with the hammer from Sabine's toy workbench!

Just did week2 run1, I wondered if I'd manage it but I really did, I must be getting fitter. Probably made a difference too that I'm 1/2 a stone lighter than this time last week Shock

Anyone got plans for the weekend?

ledkr · 06/01/2012 21:34

Deb Think you are too good for us non runners do you? Grin
Can i point out that i walked back from town today (3.5 miles) power walked it i did, with the buggy!Felt very righteous.

debka · 06/01/2012 21:43

I know, I'm horribly smug aren't I Grin

Wait till I'm skinny and smug, you'll really hate me then Grin Wink

ledkr · 06/01/2012 22:17

Haha,no i wont cos i got my dream boots today, reduced from 160 to 18 pounds nothing,i said nothing will dampen my spirits.

I have managed to wop off a few pounds. I love this time of year,i am literally sick of food and am enjoying stuff like plain fish and veg. Ella and dh are on board too which is nice.Have had a couple of lindt mini balls tonight but ive eaten so well and had my big walk so hey.

Did i mention i had new boots?

Deb why are you still up?Im off to read about Zombies Grin

reastie · 07/01/2012 07:26

ledkr new boots was that I heard you say? Grin what a fab bargain Envy . Btw I'm going to ring my gp to get the ads on my repeat pfescription ready to take them next month so I can stockpile some while I have a free prescription card still Blush . Oh, and keep meaning to ask you if you'd got the dodge implants or not and how DS with the kidney prob is?

deb have you found better more fitter people to be friends with instead Sad Shock ?

ponyo re; your AIBU - IMO YANBU but at the same time I think I may be being a little pfber about it - I think when they get older and run around it is really difficult to keep an eye on them all the time. If they are inside and (supposedly) can't escape I can see how people would let them get on with it for a little while. My Mum had a friend who NEVER watched her children and let them wander around everywhere and my mum always used to be Shock and how she just ignored them and if they were safe if they went out for a coffee somewhere for example. My Mum always used to worry they'd run into the road or whatever and get hurt. They never did Hmm . I'm not saying this was right as I think I'm a bit OTT in the other direction but I guess what I mean is loads of people have completely different styles and if you watched them all the time in every situation non stop you both would go a little mad. Having said that what you explain did make me Hmm alot. Gosh that was long and probably very tedious to all concerned

wiggles how is the banana?

blizy will go and add you (well, if you will name change.... Wink )

ledkr · 07/01/2012 08:35

reastieImplants?? Ds2 is ok thanks,we are getting our heads around the transplant tbh.Ds1 will be tested but ds3 is terrified of surgery and feels terrible about it. Ex dh will be tested although he isnt ds2's dad but tbh hes the best candidate as his dp can look after him and hes ok financially. His real dad is a bit of a boozer and hasnt seen ds1 and 2 since they were babies.
I just wish theyd take mine,im well used to surgery and am a tough old boot Grin

ponyo I spend my life aghast at some parents.Like the ones who let toddlers run ahead by the main rd or allow them to become obese im not a perfect parent but i dont lack common sense.

Well my baby isnt right still. With the help of mn and goggle i have dejuced she has toddler diaorreah-sp? Its driving me mad, about twice a day she requires a full change of clothes and there is s**t everywhere. Apparently a higher fat diet can help which is interesting as she stopped the high cal milk before it started and thats high fat.
She went to bed at 6 last night and slept till 6am Shock she has chemical breath and is very tired so im not sure if shes coming down with something.
Last night she learnt rasberries and is also making kissing noises when she sees dh or Ella,

ledkr · 07/01/2012 08:37

Ah implants i see. No mine are saline. Dillys consultant has been on tv a lot talking about them tho,hes called Mr Mercer and he is my hero for making my baby better Grin

americanexpat · 07/01/2012 14:36

ledkr - Shock at some of the people on that thread. The furthest I've gone is to the car 50m away to get something then straight back. Also, need a link to your boots.

44me - we need to hear the urinal block story. Grin

reastie - what you said about being an only child is one of the reasons we're having at least one more. DH is an only child and I have a sister who isn't planning to have children so L wouldn't have any close family in the same generation. When we start getting old (and dying), that's a lot of responsibility for one person to shoulder. Also, I've not done SW but find going to WW meetings helps a lot. If I try to do it on my own, it's so easy just to skip weighing myself if I've not been very good. I go to my meeting every week, regardless of how I've done and wipe the slate clean.

blizy · 07/01/2012 15:25

hello, hello!

New boots eh ledkr What they like? I hope dilly isn't sickening for something. How are you feeling about work on Monday?

reastie Love the photos, Alice is such a cutie.

expat I want to have at least 2 more children.

Come on 44me we want the urinal cake story! You tell us yours and I will tell you about the time a mindee locked heself in my house!

I am having a nice quiet weekend with dh, we just got back from bed shopping and a treck around asda. Going to cuddle up on the couch with my blanket and a film.
Hope you are all having a good weekend. x

ledkr · 07/01/2012 15:48

boots are basically soft black suede knee highs with a killer heel that one can walk in Grin

four we could swap stories forever, but id like to raise yours with the story of Ella who was actually addicted to eating playdoh. She was obsessed and would defy any attempts by me or nursery to stop her.
Nursery had green glittery dough one day and proudly got her to inform me that she hadnt eaten it
The following day she was looking sheepish by the potty as we both looked down at her green glittery pooh Shock

hub8allthemincepies · 07/01/2012 17:26

freya has started to crawl. Not very much but definatly crawling. Will be back later to catch up xx

ILovePonyo · 07/01/2012 21:31

Evening all, well we have had a nice day - dp took A to a friends and I went into town to do a bit of shopping, is it sad that I spent xmas vouchers on things for A then went to meet dp at friends as I was missing her?! She's so cute at the moment and getting v confident standing on her own (holding onto things tho)

american when are you planning the next one - have you thought that far ahead?

ledkr yikes to poor dils and poor you havng to deal with it, is it a case of sticking it out or wortha trip to docs? yes to judging obese children Grin Wink

reastie I'm def a lot more pfb than I thought I'd be, I'd thought I'd be more chilled out but am not tbh. Ah well, its how I am so can't change it!

deb how is the running going, are you finding it easy/hard/ok? Need to get my fat bum in gear and give it a go.

blizy what film are you watching? We have the inbetweeners to watch, got it for xmas, need a trip to blockbusters soon though as its been aaaages since we watched a good film!

I can't believe its work again on monday, am not feeling in the mood for it really, feels like I've been away for ages. Hope everyone has a sleep filled night

blizy · 07/01/2012 21:38

ponyo just about to watch paranormal activity eek! We ended up
Out for dinner with our friends and their kids there was 16 of us!

I so know when we are lucky enough to have our next baby we will both be very, very protective and psb!

ILovePonyo · 07/01/2012 21:44

Oh you're brave I am NOT watching that blizy! Your evening out sounds good. Oh and there is no shame in being pfb Wink I was thinking about you earlier and the fact that you are a childminder - I had never changed a nappy before I had A so felt like a complete novice, but you will know what you're doing to some extent - does that help or not, I can imagine being pfb would still happen regardless! Enjoy the film anyway :)

WeAreBorg · 07/01/2012 22:39

N only been in bed about 30mins and already crying, will try and pop back in a bit

Deliaskis · 08/01/2012 08:59

Hi ladies, happy Sunday. Bit of a rubbish night here, which is unusual. C woke up yelling at 11.30 and 12.30, really sounding quite distressed, but no idea what was wrong with her. Didn't want milk, nappy was fine, not too snotty and not really coughing, don't think she's teething particularly. Don't know what it was. She's OK ish this morning, slightly hard work, but not out of the range of 'normal'. She's obviously feeling under the weather but I have no idea what it is.

So anyway a bit tired this morning, and to add insult to injury, I had to go out at 7am yesterday to a singing thing, left C and DH both asleep, and DH said he had to go in and wake her at 8! Typical, he got a cushy lie-in and I didn't Envy.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Dx

MizK · 08/01/2012 11:40

Morning girls. delia sorry you had a dodge night, hope missy feels better soon....
borg did N settle down?
blizy you are so hardcore with your scary films! Even the adverts make me have nightmares :)
ponyo aww you are a nice mummy spending vouchers on A! Re pfbness, totally understandable, I am still v wary about letting my DC do anything unsupervised, Christy is in Year 8 and is still not allowed to go to school alone, so pfb never leaves you...
ledkr yay to new boots! I have only just properly rekindled my clothing habit after having C, it feels so good to buy new things. V bitter that you got such a good bargain tho.....
Had a nice evening out with friends at this brazilian place where they barbecue lots of meat and bring endless supplies of it to the table - I was restrained now that I am on weightwatchers...had a lovely lie in today so all in all a good weekend! Cass is happily dancing away as I type - if I put any vaguely dancey music on my laptop she bounces away in delight! So cute :) Hope you all have lush Sundays :)

blizy · 08/01/2012 12:31

Delis- boo to your grim night. Hope x is ok today.

Ponyo and mizk- I am disappointed with paranormal activity, I has high hopes of being scared shitless but Dh and I foun it more funny than scarey! Can anyone recommend a good horror film?

Reastie- how are feeling about work tomorrow?

Wiggles- I hope little Anna is feeling better?

Borg- I hope your nights have
Not Been too rough?

Grin
americanexpat · 08/01/2012 13:22

Delia - L was the same last night, waking but not wanting fed, just a cuddle then back to sleep. He seems to have a bit of a cold this morning. He clearly wasn't feeling well because he slept 12 hours last night. Shock He's only been for two settling in sessions at nursery and the illness is already starting. Sad

reastie & ledkr - good luck with work tomorrow (think you're both going back?). I was surprised how easily I got back into it.

Ponyo - it depends on when DH finds another job but hopefully pregnant some time this year. American maternity leave is appalling so ideally I'd like to be pg when we move back then look for a new job when the baby is 6 months or so.

reastie · 08/01/2012 14:44

Thanks guy, am extremely wobbly today - head ache, tearful and down but I'm hoping the anxiety of returning is worse than once I'm there. It's not so bad tomorrow anyway as it's an inset day and thank goodness DH is home to look after alice while i get ready etc Grin

blizy have you seen many foreign horror films? Japan have some good 'uns ...I just forget their names. I'm pretty easily scared it must be said but when I was hard as nails the original of 'the ring' made me Confused . There was also a pretty bad one about a mobile phone ringing people and then they died Hmm

Deliaskis · 08/01/2012 15:53

Oh dear, poor C is a proper poorly girl today. Has had a really high temp of up to 41 Shock but it's settled a bit with calpol etc. I did ring NHS Direct as was a bit alarmed at 41, but they ruled out most of the actual scary stuff, and just said as long as calpol keeps temp below 39, she will be fine. She's still having plenty of milk and bits of food and no vom or runny bum, so I'm hoping she gets no worse. V Sad for her though, not actually worried as such, just sad on her behalf, she's so smiley and happy normally, it's really hard seeing her so upset.

Anyway, that was a bit moany wasn't it.

reastie I am sure you are right that actually the thinking/worrying about tomorrow and building it up in your head is always worse than actually doing it. You and A will both be fine.

expat sorry you also have a poorly baby. If it's any consolation, C has now been in nursery nearly 5 months, apart from her current illness, I was starting to feel like she was generally getting better, not being as badly hit by colds etc. so I have every hope that by the time she's 1, we will have seen the worst of it.

MizK the brazilian restaurant/meat-grilling thing sounds like a place in Manchester called Bem Brazil. They just keep bringing you more meat and you help yourself to salad and other sides etc. at a buffet thing. I've never been, but I want to!

[waves] to everyone else, hope Sunday is going OK for everyone.

Dx

blizy · 08/01/2012 19:08

Sorry to hear about your poorly babies expat and delia sending you both get well soon vibes.

Good luck to reastie and ledkr with work tomorrow. I will be thinking of you.

I am being brave and watching insidious tonightGrin. Back to work for me tomorrow too Sad.

Grannyapple · 08/01/2012 19:42

Evening ladies...just wanted to pop in & say good luck to all who are back to work tomorrow...it will go better than you think, honestly.

Sorry to hear of poorly babies too...N was up at 11.30 last night crying but not wanting food/ changed etc....gave him some calpol as I think it's his teeth. Tho tonight he sounded a bit snotty so wondering if we're in for the same again tonight.

For those on ww/sw...there was a free healthy meals booklet with this months good food mag...going to give the roast pork with fennel a go on Tuesday...not telling dh it's a ww recipe as he'll turn his nose up at it before attempting it Grin

Here's to healthy, sleepy babies tonight!

Four4me · 08/01/2012 20:00

Just waiting for dh to bring Thomas back from his special needs swimming lesson it starts at 7pm on Sundays and it is over half an hour away a total pita.

All the best for back to work reastie and ledkr I will be looking forward to hearing how it went tomorrow night. reastie it will be fine, I guess accept it will prob be a bit wobbly at first. I always took a couple of days settling back into things when I went back after the boys maternity leaves. I felt like a completely different person without the security of the baby to take the attention off me. But I alway felt on a complete high getting back into the swing of things and coming home to see the children was fab.

I hope that Delia and expats have better night and the lurgy goes quickly. Big dribbly hugs from Archie. X

Well thinking about it I have a couple of stories about Thomas as a toddler. One Christmas I was doing some sponge painting with him and turned my back to pick Joseph up. When I looked at Thomas he had put the sponge in his mouth covered in dark green paint. I cleaned him up and cleaned his teeth as best I could. A couple of hours later I was at the checkout in the supermarket and he had leaned out of the buggy and refluxed (he had really bad projectile reflux up to about 3 year old and was alway puking -lovely) on the floor. It was dark green sick! The lady on check out and someone in the cue probably thought I was a bit too laid back as I quickly wiped it up and laughed.
Anyway the worst thing he as done. We had just move into our last house and has all been invited to a child in the village's birthday party at the village hall, they were tres posh. As we arrived we were offered pink fizz!!!! Anyway I had one to many whilst chatting to the villagers. The two boys were playing nicely. Then at one point I looked around and couldn't see Thomas, so went to ask dh if he'd seen him. No, so we checked in the pop up tent thing, behind the bouncy castle and then dh went into the gents. He found Tom stood by the urinals EATING the disinfectant blocks in them!!!!!!! He said 'look daddy sweeties' bork Bork Bork. By then the host of the posh party was handing out fab ice lollies so I got him one of those to wash them down. When people ask me if he is a good eater, I reply 'yes he'll eat anything and by that I mean anything' ....... Pubes and all ...... Bork Bork
