wiggles am Shock at you getting a GP apt for A, you mean.....you think it might be...... not just teething??????!!!!! Wink hope she's on the mend soon. C had spots round her mouth which turned into hand foot & mouth, which was not really a big drama, but like with most things, that started with a raging temp too.

Good advice re the chocolate dispensing machine, but [whispers] don't tell reastie . I'm hoping it will be a bit better than usual because she will have company in the back instead of being alone and also because...well..she cam't wail for 2 hours can she????

Dx

Deliaskis · 05/01/2012 13:53

PS yes wiggles it's nice to tart it up for hunky compassionate Drs dontcha think?

Four4me · 05/01/2012 14:22

Hi all

Hope babywiggles behaves for the hunky dr so mummy can swoon!!

reastie had to Grin about the wrapping paper, as I'm always so last minute. Never remember where anything is if I buy in advance and can never be arsed anyway you can use the paper for Santa things for Alice. She won't care that it is 2011!!!

Five mins peace here, the two little ones are asleep upstairs, J is with dh viewing a sale (work) and T has got his DS which he is only allowed on special occasions when i'm desperate for a break as he is addicted!

Very Envy of this skiing talk, we haven't been since the boys were small. They stayed with my pil for a week and we went on our own. Might see if this time next year they'll look after Im and A and we'll take the boys with us, just not sure how Thomas will be both with skiing and the cold. Joseph is super sporty so will love it I'm sure. Hmmmm you've got me thinking now.......

Did any of you watch OBEM? It was filmed in Leeds (about half an hour from here). I hope that one day I stop this eternal broodiness, would love another but dh is dead set against it. Don't they pick some 'interesting' people to show, mind you who in their right minds wants to be on national tv and being judged/scrutinized by mn!!!!!!!

reastie · 05/01/2012 18:39

How odd is this - you know I mentioned a couple of weeks ago about wanting to do a baking club like a book group but for cooking? Well someone on my local fb mums board put a message up saying she'd like to start one up Grin

reastie · 05/01/2012 18:43

Forgot to say - I got given the mn guide to toddlers for christmas - I've only just started it but it's a great read - am really enjoying it if it's possible to enjoy that kind of book (if a little scared of impending tantrums etc) Wink

wigglesrock · 05/01/2012 18:53

reastie glad work settling in day went well, don't worry you'll be fine and so will Alice. I was given the The Mumsnet Rules book for my birthday last year, it was funny.

Well date appt with Dr went well, A has a fungal infection so have started with the cream so hopefully she'll start to feel better. Whats the official term for a handsome Dr - yes "dishy", he's very dishy but tbh all the other Drs at the practice are women or much older so he doesn't have much competition

D I said to the Dr "oh she's teething" and he gave me this look as if to say "not from her bum she's not" Blush. I thought maybe it was hand/foot but no just a really bad fungal infection. It really is bad looking and it really deteriorated this afternoon, I was panicky by 4pm.

ILovePonyo · 05/01/2012 19:29

Hello all,

reastie really pleased for you about work, have to agree about having an office job - I get to work for 8 and have cups of tea and porridge while checking emails, tis fab Grin for dp however (teacher) it is full on from start til finish. You going to join the cooking group?

wiggles poor A, if its similar to what Anya had then the cream should clear it up pretty quickly. Shock at the woman in mothercare, wonder if she would have said that if Mr W was with you?!

Four4 Shock at the eternal broodiness! I loved OBEM when I was pg, even the scary bits, but have completely lost interest now I've had A, weird huh. I like programmes where they show the early days with newborns and knackered parents so I can think "phew, at least thats over!" I will admit to getting abit broody when seeing little squidgy babies though.

delia will C sleep for a lot of the journeying? A still gets sleepy in the car. Skiing sounds good, esp with built in babysitters Grin, I'v e never been and have a feeling I'd be rubbish Wink

Hello granny - wow to the run, how is your dh? I've not heard of mitochondrial disease, hope he is ok.

MizK Hmm to your dp, eejit. dp does band things a couple of times a week but if he wants to do more he checks first - I'd be fuming if he just buggered off and didn't mention it. Hope you're ok.

We took A to TumbleTown today - soft play with a baby bit and only chips on the menu for after Wink I thought A would be climbing all over the place but she was actually quite still, watching the other children a lot and doing the odd excited shriek, she was so cute. I got annoyed at some 5 year old in the baby pen who was kicking near A's face and flinging balls everywhere, his ignoramus mother didn't do anything Hmm Then I thought I'd better get used to it!

Deliaskis · 05/01/2012 20:52

Grrrr just posted and mn lost it.

Borg forgot to say I feel your pain re tyres, mine are over £200 a pop, it's always f*%ckity cr@p when I need a new one. Oddly proud BTW that my non-swearing swearing is being quoted.

reastie glad today was OK and that leaving Alice wasn't too traumatic overall.

Ponyo no such luck re sleeping in the car. She will if it's normal sleep time, but not otherwise.

D

Deliaskis · 05/01/2012 20:53

wiggles poor Anna, hope it clears up soon.

reastie · 05/01/2012 21:37

Right, just switched on big brother 'celeb' and can recognise no one - I don't know if they are just zzz list or if I'm getting old Hmm

wiggles glad you've got some cream from the dishy doc Wink

ponyo I have stated my interest in the cooking club if it all gets up and running Grin and Envy to you getting to sit with porridge and tea at work

2 snippets in info I discovered this evening:

  1. jojo maman bebe sale has some great bargains - got alice a dress reduced from £20 something to £5 and some dungarees I've coveted for her for literally months [saddo] half price. We are now erring to being all sorted with her wardrobe for 18 - 24 months as well as 12-18 which is already all done and dusted Blush
  1. you can get a chicken pox vaccine Shock . Never knew this. Apparently you have to pay for it as NHS won't do it cost cutting but most other developed countries get it as standard. It seems my GP surgery costs £100 to do it though Shock . I know it's just a pain in the bum for most parents (and children) but I'm now Hmm about whether to do it or not (although can't do it for another few months yet)
ledkr · 05/01/2012 22:20

I too posted earlier and lost it.

I am loving celeb bb,Andrew Stone is hillare,he takes himself so seriously and Nat Cassidy is so sweet.

Dills cries in the car too,i hate it,one of the things i like about my job is the driving, ive stocked up on good music for xmas, got the Example cd and some of Pinks older stuff. Will be nice to drive with no crying baby.

wiggs Dills had that too,it clears quickly but she didnt eat with it as it was on her tongue too. My friend says everything is teething, dills has diaroeah still and red cheeks and slight temp and she says its teething

four I didnt watch obem,it doesnt make me broody it makes me sort of jealous iyswim?

reastieIm back next week too,not that bothered at the mo.

I had to send Ella up to wipe red lipgloss of this am Shock

Went to Aldi today, they sell a "3 fish roast" I was pissing myself laughing, they also sell a bag for divers Hmm

ponyo I always stare pointedly at the big kids in the baby bit then look at the sign.Im a right misery haha.
I am reading my new zombie book,Day by Day Armageddon, you would love it.

ILovePonyo · 05/01/2012 22:36

What is with mn losing all the posts at the moment? Annoying isn't it.

reastie I have seen a very nice dress for A for a fiver thanks to your link, not ordered yet but might do. Chicken pox vaccine confuses me - is it worth it? Let me know what you decide!

delia I liked the delia style swearing too :) Shame about C and her rigid nap times!

ledkr what is your book about? Sounds good already though if it is about zombies to be fair. Walking dead in a month or so... I am reading Jane Eyre as I have never read it and my friend was horrified, well I say I'm reading it but I've not started yet. I saw the 3 fish roast - grim!!

What do people think about babies being more "anti social" if they aren't around other children?! A had her first day back in nursery yesterday, her keyworker said she was fine but got grumpy when the other babies got too near her, and then today she was just staring at the other kids. Dp and I were saying she's only been around adults since xmas (except for one occasion with my frinds ds) - this is adding to my guilt about not wanting any more babies and making me a feel a bit bad for A (overreacting I'm sure Grin)
Night all, off to bed soon x

blizy · 06/01/2012 00:33

Pfft, I have lost 2 posts tonightAngry.

Wiggles, hope Anna is better soon. I wish I had a dishy doctor.

Ledkr dilly sounds well cute! And Grin at Ella and the lip gloss.

Argh, I have forgot what I was going to post! I'm on my phone and can't look back for replies. Hope you are all on and the babies sleep well tonight .

reastie · 06/01/2012 09:07

Have updated some piccies on my profile Grin

Has anyone noseyed on the mn house swap site? I feel completely inadequate now looking at all those lovely houses - why would people with such nice houses want to (or trust people they didn't know) to swap Hmm

ponyo if it helps I've been having exactly the same thoughts re: antisocial stuff. Alice only ever sees adults most of the time. She goes to one (soon to be 2) baby classes a week and other than seeing friends with children every now and again she doesn't get much contact with other babies. She looked reallye xcited at this weeks baby sensory to see other babies after a month off over christmas/she had a cold - it was very sweet Grin . Maybe it's an only child worry thing? Hmm . Anya goes to nursery so she'll be well used to other children etc unlike alice . I also had a couple of days of being upset/worrying for alice being an only child - she'll have the burden of looking after her old codger parents when we get old etc.

ledkr driving home from work yesterday I had my cd on loudly and could just drive without worrying about baby crying/moaning/filling nappy etc - it was really nice Grin

I'm still Hmm about the pox vaccine

americanexpat · 06/01/2012 09:20

Delia - the skiing sounds fab. I've only been once a few years ago, could barely walk or sit for a week due to all the falls. Needless to say, I've not been back. Grin

Ponyo - I had the same thing in the "2 and under" area of a soft play centre, I couldn't believe how protective I was being. Tbh, they were really rough with me too, I kept shooting daggers at their parents to no avail. Angry

blizy - I had no idea what a whelk was, I had to google it. Blush I have an excuse tho, I'm vegetarian. Grin

I can't believe how easily I got back into work. L is having his settling in sessions at nursery this week, he seems to love being around the older kids. He's the youngest in the nursery at the moment and he's a big hit with the little girls. Grin

Deliaskis · 06/01/2012 09:23

reastie I blame you entirely for my just going a bit mental in the jojo maman sale. I've got some lovely stuff tho and I can't afford to shop there when it's not the sale so I'm making hay and all that. BTW I remember the dungarees that you were coveting which must make me even more of a [saddo] than you!

I hadn't heard of a CP vaccine either. I'm not sure if I'd bother, as I thought the reason for the other ones was that the illnesses are potentially dangerous or have possible long-term effects, whereas CP doesn't, I don't think????? Not sure tho!

Ponyo and reastie I try not to worry too much about sociability and being an only etc. They will all see more and more other kids as they get older anyway. I think it would be different if we were SAHMs who never took them out for any socialising opportunities at all and just did things 1 on 1 all the time but that's not the case. They're still really young and there will be loads of opportunity for them to socialise as they get a bit bigger.

Ledkr had been meaning to ask, I assume Dilly's reflux is all gone and no more meds now? We stopped C's meds completely at about 9 months altho I don't think she needed them after about 6-7 months TBH.

Dx

americanexpat · 06/01/2012 09:26

Also meant to say that I saw an article on the Guardian website about the Ikea highchair being recalled due to the belt. I know a few of you have them.

MizK · 06/01/2012 10:34

Morning! Just had a quick read cause only have a min to spare (Cass giving me evils from her high chair!)
reastie I wouldnt bother about CP vaccine. Its actually not that bad in babies/children IMO, I think when adults get it its really miserable tho. Christy had it when v young and symptoms were just like teething, when the spots emerged she was fine (but looked HIDEOUS!)
ponyo re socialising, she will have loads of social time with other babies at nursery, and to be fair if you witnessed the bitter fights and rows we have between Christy and Joe at my house you would be even more firmly set on just having one! Maybe A was just having one of those 'I vant to be alone' type days :)
ledkr I am not watching CBB but if you could post any scandalous highlights on here I would be your BFF. I just want to hear the really juicy bits without suffering through the whole thing....
wiggles poor Anna, hope it all clears up fast.
Re my horrible lying pig of a DP. I did lock the door but as he thought I was bluffing he came home - when I went to feed Cass at 4am I looked out of the window and he was asleep in his car - HA! I took pity and let him in, but gave him a whole day of non speakers and ostentatiously leaving of my engagement ring. Seemed to work, he was v ashamed and sorry - although he is going to yet another match tonight, but taking Joe along as an excuse....grr!

wigglesrock · 06/01/2012 12:10

ponyo I would't wouldn't worry about A. When I had Sofia none of my friends/relations had children. She had one cousin who we didn't really see. She spent most her time with mil or down the bookies with fil and went to Creche one day a week. She is the most sociable, friendly, empathic child I know. She never went to a baby group either Shock

Anna still poorly, had 3 hours of broken sleep for the 3rd night in a row, Dr said it might get worse before seeing an improvement Shock She is such a grumpy patient as well, can't think where she gets it from Grin

wigglesrock · 06/01/2012 12:13

reastie great pics, really like the one with the crown Grin

blizy · 06/01/2012 14:59

wiggles the milk man has a lot to answer for! Hope Anna is ok.

Im sat watching this morning, you should see this guy on here what a tit! He thinks he can sleep with any girl he wants and he totally loves himself. TWAT.

blizy · 06/01/2012 15:06

reastie I can't see your photos Sad.

Four4me · 06/01/2012 15:08

Poor Anna I hope it goes pronto or another trip to the dishy dr for wiggles

ledkr I see your lipgloss and raise you PRITT STICK that is what my extremely well supervised 2 yo Imogen had on her lips this morning. Please ignore this parenting those who are a little pfb, but she sits at the table for hours sticking pom poms, paper and tissue together and it is lovely not to have her as my shadow. So when Joseph shouted to come and look at her I found her lips smeared in glue!!!!!

One day when I know you all even better I'll tell you the four4me great parenting urinal block story..........

Off to look at reastie pics.

ILovePonyo · 06/01/2012 19:36

ledkr good points well made on that thread. It has crossed my mind to leave A sleeping and nip to the shop 1 min away, but I've never done it b'cos you just don't, do you?!

Thanks for reassurances re: anti social babies Grin Its easy to worry about stuff. And being in nursery is clearly good for her and me

wiggles good to hear that about S, and Grin at her being down the bookies. Poor A, lack of sleep sounds grim even though we know you are used to it :)

MizK haha at your dp sleeping in the car - bet that was a shocker for him! C is still having her middle of the night bottles then, boo.

reastie yes it did help to know I'm not on my own with the baby worries, and the only child worries too Wink Am going to nosy at your pics in a minute...

Four4 you know us well enough - share the urinal block story!

I have an AIBU for you all which I will share in a minute, not brave enough the actual AIBU Grin
